Realistic or Modern Washington High School: Student Chronicles

"Very clumsy." Zori said with a chuckle before looking at Regan when she walked off. "Alright, see you in a bit!" He called to her, sending a wave.

''A'ight!'' Syo said in response to Regan, before turning to Zori apologetically. ''Hang on, I just gotta go to the bathroom. Back in a minute.''

When she returned, she was seen quickly exiting the bathroom, closely followed by about three or four girls. ''Hi there, Syo.'' One of the taller girls swiftly stepped in front of her, her friends following suite. ''So what was that yesterday?'' ..Probably in reference to her drama class yesterday. Syo knew who these girls were, and they were a lot different from the normal girls who liked to antagonize her. See, they didn't do what the majority of others did, where she swore they stole all their techniques from cliche highschool movies. Nah. They didn't need to outright insult her to make her feel like shit. Sighing, she tried to push her away, but the girl - Kari? - placed a hand firmly on her shoulder and gently pushed her backwards onto the locker, still smiling. She didn't remove her hand.

''She asked you a question, you know.'' Another one of the girls stood next to Syo piped up, nudging her. ''So what happened?'' Syo, still trying to act neutral, shrugged tiredly. They knew what happened.

''I just had a little trouble reading the script, that's all. It's.. It's a thing with my brain, sometimes I get things jumbled up and-'' The girl interrupted, waving her hand dismissively.

''So why are you in this class then?'' She asked, her smile growing wider. Syo glanced up, confused.

''Huh?''

''If you can't read, why are you in these classes? Shouldn't you be in.. lower level ones?'' It could be mistaken as a innocent question, but Syo was pretty sure it wasn't. ''No, I.. I can read. It's just sometimes I find it harder to than others. It's not that I can't..'' They'd stopped listening, though. Another girl had decided to imitate Syo, stuttering and mumbling in a stupid voice, pretending to look down at a script. The other girls collapsed into laughter.

''That's not what happened, though!'' Syo raised her voice slightly, but that only gave them more of what they wanted - for Syo to get angry. She smirked. ''Hey, it's not our fault that you belong in the special class with all the other weirdos.'' Syo, staring down at the ground, shoved past Kari and towards her locker, biting down on her bottom lip in frustration. They didn't pursue her - they had what they wanted out of her.

When she got there, she opened up her locker and exchanged the books from her bag. As she did this she overheard two guys talking about they saw Butch on the news yesterday. They knew what happened to him and how he got arrested. Regan thought others must have known also. She quickly finished up at her locker and walked back to find Zori and Syo.

Zori had waited for both Syo and Regan though he'd been talking to a few of his athletic friends. They'd been complaining on how they hadn't seen him.

"I'm sorry guys. I made some new friends. They're pretty cool." He said with a smile as they all groaned.

"Stop being such a social butterfly!" Lani said, twirling her hand in her hair as she sent him a teasing grin. "Always have to make friends. Geez."

"That's just how I am." Zori replied before being hit by Quentin, another one of his friends. "Let him be the beautiful butterfly that he is!" He said as the others laughed. Zori rolled his eyes but couldn't help but laugh with them. That was until he saw Syo running down the hall.

"..Syo?" He questioned, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion and worry as he began to move around his friends.

"Syo!" He called after her, breaking out into a run. He ran, almost colliding with Regan. "Oh! Sorry Regan. We have to go. Something happened with Syo!" He said, grabbing her hand and pulling her with him.

"Hey- Wait what happened?" Regan asked, surprised as Zori pulled her along and ran. She gripped one of the straps of her bag so that it didn't fall off and ran with Zori to wherever he was going to find Syo.

Syo made her way down the hallway, shoulders hunched slightly. She turned her head slightly when she heard her name being called, and immediately turned away. She felt like she was overreacting and being pathetic, and she didn't really want anyone to see her nearly crying over what she thought was really minor. Syo stopped at her locker, pulling it open and hiding her face behind the door, rubbing at her eyes hurriedly.

Finally they made it to Syo's locker. Regan walked up to her slowly, full of concern. "Syo?" she called out softly. She noticed that Syo had been crying. "Are you okay?"

''Huh?'' Syo jumped, spinning around to face Regan. She seemed to be smiling, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. ''Yeah, I'm fine.'' She answered with a weak laugh. ''Just had some trouble with some kids in my Drama class.''

"What did they do?" Regan asked slowly, wondering what they could've done to make Syo cry. "Who was it?" Regan always cared for the friends she had so she was concerned about Syo.

''Just..'' She tried to shrug it off, closing the locker and leaning against it. ''I, uh.. I sometimes have trouble with reading things. Writing them, too. I can read, but my brain tends to jumble it up and I can't make sense of it, or I'll find it harder to remember how to spell stuff, so as a result..'' She looked up with a awkward smile. ''..I end up looking like I'm stupid. Miss told me to read some of the script out in drama, and I made myself look like an idiot in front of the whole class.'' She glanced over at the group of girls who had just been talking to her. ''..And, of course, Kari jumped on the chance to make fun of me, I guess.''

Regan listened carefully before she spoke. "You're not stupid" Regan reassured her. "Trust me. You're actually really smart." She looked at the girl named Kari and her friends around her before turning back to Syo. "And don't listen to what they say. They're just trying to hurt others so that they could feel better about their lame selves." Regan reached in her bag and pulled out a tissue, offering it to Syo.

''Thanks..'' Syo mumbled with a small smile, looking grateful as she accepted the tissue. ''..Sorry about that.'' She added, looking at her feet awkwardly.

Alex finishes his food, wiping his mouth and follows the same way Solana did, his dark eyes meeting her ex's. He sneers slightly, walking past him slowly.

"No problem. And it's okay, don't worry about it." Regan smiled at her. "So you feeling better now? It's kinda weird not seeing you in your usual happy way" she joked, hoping to make Syo smile some more.

''Yeah..Yeah, I'm better now.'' Syo looked up, genuinely smiling now. ''I'm still, y'know.. A bit upset over what happened, but I'm glad you didn't just think I'm thick when I told you about my.. readin' thing, like the other kids do.''

"Of course I wouldn't think that about you. Plus, I know for a fact that you're really smart." Regan smiled at her once again. "If those girls bother you again you could just put them in their place. Now come on, we're gonna be late to our first class."

Solana's ex snorted at Alex, waving a hand in the air as if he were waving away a fly.

"Don't want the bitch anyway. You'll see. From one guy to another- She doesn't put out anyway." He said to Alex, snickering with his friends. Solana frowned, taking Alex's hand and pulling him to walk faster. "Can we go now Alex? Please?"

Zori came to the two girls, breathing heavily. "What the hell did I just miss?" He asked, panting. While running after Syo he had managed to trip over a garbage can and then over a few kids.

Alex snickered, "takes a bitch to know a bitch." He snaps, a few people look over, Solana tugging on Alex yet he was firmly planted in place. "Prick, you don't even know how to treat women, you poor child." He spat, "go eat Shit, prick ." He snaps again, people look away when Alex glares at them. He looks to Solana, "dumass kids." He mutters, beginning to walk away with his arm around Solana.

Regan stifled a small laugh when Zori came up next to them. "A couple of girls were making fun of our friend Syo here. But I talked to her so she's good now. We're heading to class now." She motioned for Zori to follow. "Did you go to your locker already?"

"Alex, please." Solana pleads, her eyes wide. "Please don't start anything."

Solana's ex glares at Alex, standing up from his table along with his friends. "Alex!" Solana snaps, looking at her ex.

She's relieved when he walks away and glances back at her ex who smiles at her. "You know you'll regret that Solana. I'll get you back. Don't worry darling." She turns away, leaning closer to Alex and rushes him to unlock the car once they're outside.

-

"Girls were bothering you?" He asked, his face going serious. "Which ones? I'll talk to them."

Alex snickers, "the only thing she will regret is having to smell your stink." He waves his hand in front of his face, before chuckling. He unlocks his car, before getting into the driver seat. He shuts his door and looks to Solana. "What a prick." He rolls his eyes, starting the car, revving it loud and hard, the car roaring under them. He turns on the music softly, playing the weeknd; Gone. The song had a sexual vibe, and Alex bit his lip momentarily before putting his car in geer and pulling out of the parking lot.

"No, Zori don't worry about it. If they bother her again we could talk to them." She tugs on Zori's arm gently, looking at him. "Don't start anything with them."

Zori huffed, the frown not leaving his face. "I keep no promises..." He mumbled. "Let's just go to class."

Solana doesn't say anything to Alex, to focused on her ex. She bites her nails as she stares out the window. She hears just what came on and a small blush comes to her cheeks but she ignores it.
