Grey great Hall breakfast

Grey sat alone eating breakfast, still shaking at the thought of last night. He meant to ask Wilkas about that scream, but didn't get the chance to. It was quite odd, that he was in such a rush to leave.Grey picked at his food, he didn't really feel like eating after last night, that was the last time he did that.He looked around at all the others, apperently no one else knew about what happened to him last night, and he liked it that way. Although Quisley didn't seem to question what he was doing outside either. Grey coughed into his hand and looked up."Excuse me but did anyone else hear a scream last night," grey asked wondering if maybe anyone else knew anything about it.

"Nooooo..." Duster grumbled, resting his head on the table. He seemed like he was about to say something more, but Jeff cut him off.

"Actually, I did hear a scream. I thought it was someone from downstairs. I remember it. It was kind of bloodcurdling. A woman's scream, was it not? Even though it sounded muffled, it was still very loud..."

He didn't seem too worried, but he was a bit concerned. It might've been a villager being mauled by a bear or something.

"Oh well I swear I heard a man screaming when I was..." He stopped himself, he didn't want anyone else knowing what happened to him last night, he could never live it down." When I was sleeping. But I guess it was a woman, or maybe just a bad dream,"he lied hoping no one questioned him. Grey shook at the thought of the scream, and the cold which he was now beginning to hate."So how is everyone today? "

Quisley Hart - Dining room

Now that was some good news. Watching Wilkas walk out with a half forkfull of hashbrown in his mouth, Quisley felt a smile break across his face - he was almost certain he could get into the cabinet; it would just take time, and maybe a little ingenuity. He was determined to get the blade - its something he very much wanted to wield.

The taste of the hashbrown suddenly soured in his mouth as he heard Grey start to talk. It was rare for Quiz to get angry, but he felt it building inside of him as he chewed the now unsatisfying food.

"I heard the scream. It was a man." Eyes fastening on Grey, Quisley went on. Voice like sharpened ice, his admonishment cut through the air "Don't you dare tell a lie, you pampered fuck. You were outside last night. I don't know what you were doing, or why, but don't pretend you heard what you did in a dream. Finding your panicked, fainted ass at the front door was pretty clear evidence." Like the swords he so cherished, the minnesotan was sharp this morning - angry going to sleep and angry waking up had made him rather irritable towards the rich kid who'd fainted at his feet.

Thomas McMillan - Dining room/library

Having glared at Wilkas's back after his unsatisfying answer about the scrap covered in Polish, Thomas grabbed his notes and sketches and decided that following Willem and Emmanuel to the library was a good idea. Before that though, he quickly went to his room and grabbed his laptop; even if the internet here was slow as hell, it would maybe be useful.

When he got to the library, his friends were already deep in piles of books. The laptop hummed lightly as he set it up, the fans setting to spinning. "Hey, Emmanuel" the Brazilian looked up inquisitively from the book he was nose deep in. "Do ya think you could tell me what this is?" Thomas stood next to his friend, and spread the sketch of the tree like symbol in front of him.

"That's a Romuva symbol - an old Prussian religion - I read about it in a book about the Teutonic order" The answer got a smile out of Thomas.

The google search that took a half hour to buffer was, however, the death of that smile. Even if it did get him all the information he could want on the Romuva.

Grey stood up, and pushed his plate away,he gave Quisley a annoyed look."You know I was going to say thank you for saving me,but now I realize your just another bastard who doesn't deserve my praise,"grey walked away, deciding he was done with talking to others already. At first he had hoped maybe he, and Quisley might become more friendly towards each other, obviously he was mistaken.Annoyed he found a seat in the living room, and took it. He then began drawing in his notebook.

Quisley Hart

"I spit on the praise of a liar, Grey. Next time I won't drag your ass in from the cold" Quisley let the anger take over for a moment, his words harsher than they should have been - but for a man who was usually calm as still water, he found it rather refreshing to let his anger flow out like this. He knew he'd not leave Grey to die if it came to it; it felt good to say though.

Dining Room

"Fainted?" asked Toma, curiously. "Why'd he faint?"

"Don't ask," muttered Nina. She stood up. "We should probably get going down to the village." She waved at Giovanna. "We'll go with you!"

Quisley Hart

"He was out in the cold. Shivering. No jacket" Quisley sat back and let out a sigh. Now that he didn't have Grey to direct his anger at, he was a little calmer. "Sorry about my language ladies, but I can't stand a liar"

Jessica meanwhile was laughing her ass off. After several moments of high pitched giggling she was forced to stop in order to breath, "Wo, wow." She managed between gasps of air. "What an ungrateful bastard." She said finally, turning to face Quisley, "Did he really go tromping around outside last night without a jacket on?" She asked the footballer, "What a dumbass."

Grey in the living room

"I'd much rather freeze to death next time, thank you very much" grey said to himself as he started drawing in his notebook. Of course he didn't mean it Either but he was sick and tired of all of them. So far only Jeff had really shown him any kindness. The rest were all well, bastard's, all of them seemed to have the idea he was pampered growing up, which really started to bug him.

Was his family wealthy yes, but he wasnt hampered growing up. His life was pretty lonely growing up, the fact that his parents where almost never around didn't really help much. He had learned to keep from showing his emotional side, but even he could only handle so much. So, he continued drawing, hoping no one paid any attention to Quisleys words, and no one questioned him about it."Oh and I had a jacket on,"he called to the ignorant witch laughing like a hyena now.He had a jacket it wasn't his big one he disliked that coat but wished he had worn it last night.

"Yeah, I found him ranting and raving at the main doors - panicked out of his mind" He paused for a second then looked around at everyone "There was something weird going on last night. I suggest no one goes anywhere alone in the valley. And we take full advantage of the guides we can get down in the village - there could be wolves, or bears out in those woods. Even elk can be dangerous if you don't treat 'em right ." The big man stood up, shaking his head "Don't suppose anyone knows how to pick a lock, do ya? I might need some help with this display case"

Dining room.

Nina looked up at what Quisley said. "What about Joseph? He left like half an hour ago to go...sompleace... I don't even know if he brought a map." Her eyes grew wide. "Oh god, what if..." She piped down, seeing eyes on her. "Hey...I can be worried, you know...we're all human." She lapsed into an embarresed silence.

Toma broke the quiet. "If you guys could all stop bullying Grey for a minute, Nina's right. Joseph never heard about the scream. There might be dangerous animals out there."

Jessica

"I might." Jessica said, eyeing Quisley with an appraising stare, "But nothing in life's free."

"Damnit" It was a mix of Joseph being missing, and of Jessica's usual, coy attitude. "I'll head up to the armoury, grab my winter coat and see if I can find some snowboots. There are two crossbows up there - I can show one of you how to use the other; but I can't go after him alone." Quiz paused for a minute, considering Nina's worried expression "Don't worry. We'll find him, and help him if he needs it. I want someone to head down to the village and ask for help."

He stood, and glanced at Jessica "Now you...what do you want?"

Grey heard his words from the living room and stood up."I'd be willing to go with you,"Grey said,as he renentered the room. It was his chance to help out, and maybe have people start to like him for once.Plus he would be away from most of the others. Even if he was mad at Quisley.

"I want many things." Jessica said with a sly grin, however this was not the time to be coy so she switched into business mode and took a more reserved stance, "I'll help you get into that case, but afterwards you're gonna help me find some things. As for finding the nerd, I'm the only one around here who grew up tromping through frozen woods as a matter of daily life, so I'm the logical choice to go with you," She paused for a moment, "Plus I know how to hunt."

Toma Nash

"Wait, wait," said Toma. "Why are we all panicking? How do we even know if he's in danger?" She shrugged and cocked an eyebrow at Quisley. I mean...can you be sure it wasn't just a wolf howl or a...moose all or something?"

Grey looked over at Toma."I heard it loud and clear it was no animal it was a man. And I insist on going along but if you don't want me to that's fine." Grey raised a eyebrow questioningly.

Jeff

Jeff took off his glasses and cleaned them on his shirt. He was having second thoughts aboout Grey. If you do something stupid, a real man would own up to what he did. He lied, then didn't even thank Quisley.

Jeff just bowed his head as he continued to clean his glasses. He wasn't wearing a suit, but simply a dark navy hoodie emblazoned in white font on the front reading "Snow Wood boarding School." The back had a crest that features a key lock, a goat and a snowy pine, among other things.

Jessica said something about her being the only one growing up tromping through woods and snow.

Jeff put his glasses back on and swept a lock of hair out of his eyes.

"That isn't necessarily true. Until I attended this college I had never seen sprawling land without snow on it. I'm coming along."

Duster looked at him, and decided that he would have to lone it upstairs in their large room.

Quisley Hart

"I grew up in Minnesota. I hunted from the age of eight." He cocked an eyebrow at Toma "I've hunted wolves. I've drank the blood of an elk I shot myself. I know what they sound like, and I know what a man screaming sounds like. You sorta learn when you see a dude with his leg caught in a bear trap - it is always better to be safe than sorry" With that, he turned his head towards Jessica and Grey "I knew about your upbringing, Jess. As for you..." His eyes turned to Grey "You can carry a spear. Might be useful"

The big guy turned and started out of the hall, grabbing his heavy coat and gloves from a rack outside "Get your stuff together for this and meet me in the armoury. We've got a micro-biologist to go find. The snow shouldn't have covered his tracks by now, and we should be able to drag him out of whatever shit he's gotten himself into".

The trip to the armoury was swift. Quiz almost ran the last few metres, getting the equipment they would need ready quickly and with a practised eye. A spear, in better condition than most for Grey - and the two crossbows, strung and tested with their carry bags of bolts for both him and Jessica.

Grey didn't smile, he wasn't the type but he was happy to be going along."Oh and the only reason I lied was so I wouldnt get teased anymore than I do especially by Jessica,"grey said as he got his huge coat. He certainly wasn't going to forget it this time. Grey could hold his own but his aim wasn't the greatest so he was greatful when the Minnesotan told him he'd be using a spear, it was more to his comfort zone believe it or not. Grey prepared, he got on his boots, and a ski mask, but didn't pull it all the way down only enough to cover his ears, then he went to the armoury.

Nina Truman

"Hey, wait!" shouted Nina after them. "Can I come along?" She paused. "I...just don't want anyone to be hurt. Besides, I want to see the country." She nodded at her friend. "Toma can stay here with Gio"

(IMPORTANT PLOTTY POST)

Willem, Library, Looking into the picture 10:25 AM

"Dude this is really weird, look, right, if you pay attention to one of the arms of the guy in the back you can see the insignia of the 5th SS wiking. So he’s holding an mp40 to the back of that dude… and then the second guy is holding a pistol to the head of a dude dressed in a tattered Wehrmacht uniform, now… it’s not impossible to imagine that this was a disciplinary action and that that kneeling guy was a deserter, but considering the fact that it was stamped and it has an ahnenerbe insignia there might be something more iffy going on here." He explained to the other two library dwellers, the trio of them had been stuck here for over 3 hours now translating information and converting their findings into word documents. The library had a very old feeling to it, the bookcases had very stylistic ornaments and the collection of literature here ranged from the very old to the only slightly out dated, Emmanuel was hunched over the historical records of the village and typing out a summary of the translated information and Willem turned to translating the book that came with the picture.

“So, this village apparently has like yearly snowstorms, and they are big, now heres the weird part right, the heaviest ones were during the 1200s and during 1943-44, I think we can see something odd there.” He spoke while he continued typing more and more words

The silence persisted after this as they continued their translation.

11:30 AM

“Got it!” Willem exclaimed loudly, Emmanuel who was in the process of finishing the translation looked up with a bit of a questioning look along with a curious Thomas.

“Look right, this book details the occult obessions of the third reich, to be more specific the ahnenerbe’s. There’s this one paragraph that’s particularly interesting.

And I quote”

Willem went for the part of the excerpt he wanted to start at and took a first deep breath, one of many

“Among the small-scale operations undertaken in Poland, by the Anenherbe, in 1941, Sievers ratified the creation of an isolated base in the Zimno Valley, to research the local Teutonic Monastery. The base, referred to as Research Base 17 was staffed by local polish draftees, Ahnenerbe agents, and a company of the 5th SS Panzer Division "Wiking." According to the base's reports, the locals were pagans, and thus a small-scale cleansing was ordered in 1942. The village was too small, however, to be of any significant value, and so the SS units were ordered to clear it out themselves. Accordingly, the commander dallied, until (supposedly) news of the impending cleansing slipped out and Partisan activity in the valley and around it increased dramatically by 1943 to 'uprising' levels. A company of Whermacht Heer forces was transferred to the bunker to police the valley, and the local SS command ordered the village cleared immediately. RB-17 sent reports back via courier, indicating that the cleansing had begun as of mid november. Immediately following this notification, a massive blizzard blew in, sealing off the valley for the better part of the year. Contact was re-established in 1948, well after the conclusion of the war, when 2 Polish Communist Party government officials surveyed the valley. The bunker had been collapsed, supposedly from the inside, and there were no germans to be found. Both officials left more or less immediately, as the valley had no interest to the regime. Rumors of german integration with the locals, and of mass-graves were not investigated.

He took another breath after which he proceeded to clarify the information.

“So this information explains a couple things, first off, that mention of the 5th SS explains what the guy in the picture was doing here and the later transfer of heer assets explains the kneeling guy, the date of the snowstorm in the history books also coincides with what we see here. Although, one thing I noticed in another book was that explosives were supposedly used to demolish the bunker from the inside hinting that there might have been heavy fighting during the period of the snowstorm, we should see if we can get census information on population… Also, there might be some bodies in that bunker, we might learn more if we go there.”

Willem, visibly surprised by this information went into mental concentration for a minute.

“What correlation is there between the snowstorms and the elimination of invading forces I wonder… We just don’t know enough about the bloody religion.” Willem's face distorted into frustration. Emmanuel realizing that he needed some distraction decided he should divulge what he found too and so he started with a loud cough to grab the attention of the other two.

“So I’ve done some further reading and discovered some additional things, one of the first things are mentions of three names, Karl, Franz and Jan, these are names that are pretty common in Germany and the Netherlands. There’s also apparently some history related to the village being extremely resistant to conversion during the 900’s, which apparently led to a civil war in the village, and considering the size of this village I’m surprised it managed to pull through it honestly.

Now here’s the good stuff right, it appears that later on when the Teutonic order started their crusade into the Baltic they only bothered with setting up a small monastery here and mostly used it as a place to store the more useless and less desirable assets of the order.

It started as a regular catholic monastery in 1190 and grew into a full Teutonic monastery during the period of 1203 to 1212, after which the order abandoned it thanks to abnormal disappearances of their knights, which according to the local rulers came about thanks to a combination of plague, extreme cold and starvation”

He paused for a second.

“Now why the monastery died out from a food shortage and plagues and the like and the village survived is still a question. Anyways, the monastery was officially written off as a lost cause and after this no particular problems showed themselves until ww2, which is where the ahnenerbe comes in, it appears they discovered a couple of transcripts referring to paganism and a form of curse with allusions to the aforementioned trio along with a person called Widmo. Lastly as a bit of extra information, the local dynasty appears to be called house Kaszpar and they appear to have coexisted with the village since roughly 900 AD and they have never changed their holding, another odd piece of information if you asked me.”
