She let him lead her.

Not that she could have fought him even if she tried. The room felt like it was spinning, her mind going a million different directions, Stephanie was completely at his mercy. She knew she would have to tell Lăcră eventually, but what would she say? Nobody knew where Te was. Nobody knew whether he was dead or alive. Surely she couldn’t tell her pregnant sister in law that.

Not even Aurcels touch was calming her now. She was panicking, losing herself and breathing quickly. “Wh-what do I do?” She whispered, turning her gaze toward him, eyes practically begging him to have the answers. “I can’t just sit here I- I have to do something I have to… I have to call his girlfriend and- and our mom and I- I- I can’t do this. I can’t do this I can’t.” She turned into him, nudging her face against his collarbone as she tried to hold back the new wave of fear and hurt.

“Please don’t leave me. Please… please… I know this is awful and you don’t know me but I can’t do this alone. I can’t do this. I can’t call his girlfriend and tell her nothing. She’s pregnant she’s- she’s already so worried all the time and my mom… she’d have a heart attack she… she can’t… and I can’t…”

Stephanie stared up at him again, pleading, tears rolling down her cheeks. She barely knew this man. He had every right to walk away from her now if he wanted to. He could and she wouldn’t blame him if he did.

“Please… I- I need you… please…”

he was breaking right in front of him. The girl who was always smiling with the snarky, flirtatious comebacks. Sure if it was anyone else they'd run. They'd think this is too much and wouldn't have even made it to the hospital door-let alone her front door.

Aurcel made sure that they next words that came out of his mouth were exact and to the point. He felt like she needed to hear something other than everything is going to be okay. He was grateful for that because that's not something he usually says with 100% truth behind it.

He wiped her tears with his free hand and gave a small smile. "I'm staying right here Stephanie. I'm not gonna run. I'm not gonna bolt out of here. You tell me you need me? Okay. I'll stay put. Don't worry about that" he told her before going ahead for her answers she may or may not have been searching for.

"As for the situation..I think you telling them something is better than nothing at all. All we know right now is that he's not answering his phone and he's was probably working before all if this..right?"
It's better to gradually hear someone is hurt or dead rather than one phone call to say it. 5 stages of grief right? But I want him to be okay and that not just because of her. In general this shouldn't have happened. Especially on Halloween..geez.

She could have kissed him.

The comfort that he was giving her. The reassurances, the gentle touches. Even as he wiped her tears and promised he wouldn't go anywhere... She could have kissed him. If it weren't for the tears streaming down her face and the snot that she knew was threatening to trickle out of her nose, she would have. It would have been bold but... Well nothing about their first few encounters had been exactly subtle.

Rather than making a fool of herself, though, Stephanie went with the safe option. She kept herself in check and nodded along as he spoke, taking his words and running with them. She took a few deep breaths and pulled out her phone, scrolling through her contacts and sniffling as she searched for her sister in laws name. Out of all of the phone calls she would make, Stephanie dreaded this one the most. Lăcră was a worry wart at heart. A connoisseur of death. Hearing that Te had gone radio silent would surely send her into a tizzy.

"She's going to freak out." Stephanie hummed, her finger hovering over the dial button. "She's going to panic and freak out and... M-maybe I should... I don't want her to be alone when she hears this." Her gaze darted back up toward Aurcel. "She's pregnant, you know? I don't want anything to happen."

urcel wished he knew what she was thinking. Wished he could help her more, but really he would deal with this stuff so by himself. He was taking her and showing her things he would've liked to have experienced when it was happening to him years ago.

Aurcel saw she was trying to think about everything and everyone. Maybe that wasn't the best idea, but he wasn't going to tell her that right now. Right now he reached over to the table next to him to grab the complimentary box of tissues and handed it to her.

"I know she's pregnant, but she does also need to know something, right? Or you can simply ask her if he is at work and go from there. It just depends on how you word things Steph. If you text her I feel like she would call you anyway.." he explained. He doesn't know these people, but hearing bits and pieces he can pick up on certain things.

"Everybody probably knows something about the building collapse by now or in half an hour. They might be worrying already. It might be nice for them to hear your voice"
Aurcel stated while rubbing his thumb against the back of her hand.

He was right.

She knew he was right and yet she still dithered, looking down at the cellphone in her hand and hesitating to press call. Lăcră would rather hear it from her than their hysteric mother. It would be better that she was the first to know given she was carrying his child. That's what Steph would want anyway.

"Okay... Okay..." Stephanie breathed out, pressing the call button. She brought her phone to her ear, silently wishing that Lăcră wouldn't pick up. She did. The sweet, familiar voice of the kind Romanian women saying her hellos on the other end. The gentle whooshing of some sort of water, likely something to do with her job. At least she wasn't completely alone? Lăcră was a strange one, finding dead people to be good company. At least she was with a corpse. Not that the corpse could offer reassurance and hold her the way Stephanie knew she would likely need to be held but... at least it was something.

"Lăcrămioara... Hey." She spoke into the phone, trying to keep her voice steady as to not worry the woman even more. The gentle questioning from the other end brought tears to her eyes. Somehow Lăcră knew that it was about Te. How could she not? Steph wasn't one to call his brothers girlfriend unless it was something important. "I- I don't want you to worry or freak out, okay? Just... stay calm.. uhm... There was a bit of an accident? A building collapsed or something and... uhm... Well I can't get ahold of Te and..." She glanced toward Aurcel, hoping that he would be able to keep her sane, keep her from breaking down.

"Lăcrămioara I don't have a lot to tell you. Nobody has heard from him or seen him but... we- I am at the hospital now and I'm just waiting on an update... uhm... M-maybe you should call your brother and see if he can bring you here just in case? Or don't. It's up to you.. just... don't panic until theres something to panic about, okay?"

Steph listened quietly to the garbled English on the other line, panicked words as the Romanian woman tried to gather her bearings. Steph was delivering her the start to a horrible day, she knew that, but Lăcră had the right to know. The line went silent, the soft click of the call ending. As far as Stephanie knew Lăcră was on her way.

Rather than calling her mother she sent a text, not wanting to get roped into an hour long session of her mother bawling her eyes out and setting off her own tears. Bad news wasn't Stephs strong suit. This wasn't what she was supposed to be doing. Exhaustion was quickly setting in and all she could do was slump, leaning her head against Aurcels shoulder. The trust she was putting into this man was otherworldly... but something told her that it was the right thing to do.

ospitals and police stations were two place he didn't really want to be. Right now he had no choice, in the sense that he swallowed whatever anxious feeling he had so he could be the one she could lean on.

I'm not usually the type people lean on. I'm especially not the type of person people go to for really any of this stuff. So I'm amazed at myself for being here. For being here for her.

When he felt her head plop down on his shoulder he couldn't help, but feel his heart fluttering. "You did really good princesa, I'm proud of you" he told her while he relaxed a bit in the uncomfortable hospital chair.

Maybe I was meant to meet her. I don't really think fate is a real thing, but who knows? It might be. I'm just hoping that she doesn't use me now and then toss me aside- not that I would let her do that. Haaaa I sound crazy! Brain just shut up. Shut up.

"I know you probably don't want to eat anything, but let me know if you want some water or something from the vending machine over there..I won't go more than 5 ft from you so don't worry about that either.." he mumbled calmly to her.

Waiting was awful.

Even while she nestled herself next to Aurcel, listening to him speak, she felt the cold fingers of dread running through her. This wasn’t how she had pictured her day. This wasn’t the impression she had wanted to make on Aurcel.

Stephanie shook her head at his offer, closing her eyes for a moment as she let her mind wander. It wasn’t doing her any good sitting there in her own misery, wondering over and over where her brother may be. Hoping that he was alive. Every so often glancing at the receptionist in hopes that she could catch an inkling of hope. She shook her head, deciding to force herself out of it, to stop her mind from going in circles.

“Thank you for this.” She spoke softly as she carefully slipped her hand in his again, lacing their fingers together. “Quite the first date, isn’t it?”

Steph gave him a half smile, trying to lighten the mood, to make herself feel a bit better despite the situation. “So is this the worst first date you’ve ever been on? I mean… if you’re counting this as a first date.”

Stephanie settled a bit, fiddling slightly with his fingers as she spoke, doing what she could to distract herself.

urcel couldn't help, but chuckle. "Well let's see... it would definitely take the top spot for the most interesting date I've been on" he said as his eyes darted around the room to the other people.

"If you consider this a date it wouldn't be the worst one.." he said when a thought came to mind. Another distraction. "The worst date I've been on was probably when I took her out to eat and all she talked about was how she just likes free food. She ordered damn near everything off the menu- money is no issue, but I told her I would pay for my meal and that was it. She got upset and started crying and passed out...yeah I've never went back to that restaurant" he said seeing if she was listening to his story or still out of it. "So this doesn't even compare at all. I hope that helps ease your mind about me" he told her as he cast his eyes down at her.

"What about you? Whats your worst date Steph?"
He asked, curious to see what kind of guys she been out with. Made him wonder if he was her type or if his flirting had helped get him out the acquaintance zone.

"Yeah. Come in." Tobias led the girl inside. He watched her every move, trying to read her facial expression, trying his best to predict what would come next. He allowed the silence to consume them. He had questions, more things he could say to fill the painful space. But, he would not be the one to speak. He would allow her to put everything on the table to he could analyze the situation. He knew he could've done better, offered up something, anything to comfort her. But old habits die hard.

He took in her words, processing the series of events she laid out. Silently, he pulled a handkerchief out of his breast pocket. A pressed, soft, white piece of fabric with the initials T.K. embroidered in grey. The item seemed new, completely unused. Because, while Tobias carried around handkerchiefs just in case, he hardly ever used them. For the most part, handkerchiefs were used to wipe away tears. His father had told him that tears were for weaklings and failures. Tobais was neither.

So, he didn't cry. At least, not in front of people. This also lead to him tending to look down on those who cried in front of him. It made things easy in a way, if people got upset around him, he only felt a mixture of harsh judgement and shallow pity. But, looking at Dai's tear stained face, something else stirred within him. Sympathy. Feeling a sense of impending doom, he felt like he could cry as well. But, he tried his best to push that down. He didn't want this to be harder than it had to be.

Tobias took a breath as he thought about what she said, feeling her eyes on him. He remained collected, not showing any hints of what was going on in his mind. Even his strong feelings for Dai were no match for decades of neglecting his emotions in favor of making logical choices. "You like your job, right? You should keep it," he turned the conversation towards the thing he understood best, work. He'd spent so much time working, lost himself as he advanced his career. If he lost it, he'd never be the same again. Dai seemed like a reasonable, ambitious woman. He figured she at least valued her job to a certain degree.

"I care about you," he stated, more like a calculated fact than a comforting, emotional statement. But, to Tobias, the simple fact that he cared about her meant more than cushioning the phrase with a tone that came across as loving. "But, people come and they go. We have no way of knowing how this relationship is going to go. You have spent time, energy on your career. You can't just give that up for some guy." The way he spoke was chilled, almost as if he was removing himself from the situation. Yes, he was talking about himself, which should have been upsetting. But his tone gave no indication he was upset. He was just presenting a rational argument.

Dai stood there while he was processing what she had said. She grabbed his hankerchief and wiped her cheeks with the soft fabric. She wanted to hear something, anything...except the words that came out of his mouth next. Her eyebrows came together at her confusion and her eyes started to sting.

"I wanted to be wrong. For once in my life I wanted to be undoubtedly wrong and now..you said everything that I thought you would say" she said with her broken voice. Her brown eyes were shaky and she didn't want to look at him,but she did. Dai felt she needed to.

"I thought you were the kind of person to fight for what he wants..and if what you want is to be alone and you think you're just some guy to me then I guess you... wasted my time..?" She suggested while her whole body felt hot from the anger she had that masked her depression. Warm tears tickled her jawline as the dropped off her body. She didn't even care about wiping them. "You say you care about me,Tobias, but right now you're hurting me more than anyone else has..." she stated while trying to catch her breath.

All you can say is you care about me,but what else? It's not the same. I've fallen for you and your feelings are still at the beginning. I thought you'd change and that's the only thing I was wrong about..and now I feel like throwing up.

"I thought..you're feelings for me were more than that-" she said hugging herself as she felt disconnected. Dai was used to this. Used to conversation like this, but never in her life has she felt like she couldn't breath while her lungs expanded easily.

The anger was unexpected. It made it harder. Tobias respected anger more than tears. It reminded him more of what he was losing here. He wanted to protest when Dai said he was hurting her, tell her he was only trying to look out for her. But, instead he held his tongue. He took a second to compose himself, silently getting two glasses out and filling them with water. Dai looked like she'd been crying for hours, she probably needed it.

Tobias handed her her glass and took a sip from his, gazing at her as he contemplated her words. He did have feelings for her, but maybe he wasn't built for this. How many lives would he destroy, how many hearts would he break, before he realized that? He was destined to roam the earth alone. He was unfit for any normal human relationship. He was a killer through and through. He didn't want to be. It's just how it had to be.

"I'm sorry. I should have never done this to you." He muttered out, these words sounding a tinge more vulnerable and genuine than the previous ones. He knew what he was. He knew what his mind and heart were like. He was a monster no matter how hard he tried to change. When Tobias first met Dai, he felt something strange. A feeling of hope, fascination, and affection that had never passed through his body before. He should have known better than to trust his feelings. All of his past experiences showed only one thing: he destroyed anyone who let them into their hearts. It was reckless and cruel of him to expose Dai to this.

He took a breath before he spoke again. "I think you should go now."

It felt like the last time. The last time she would see him, smell him.. be in his presence. It was weird how someone who came so easily into her life can slip through at the tiniest inconvenience.

Dai felt low she was a mess. She wasn't even sure if she should be fixing in her state, but there's no way she could stay there. Her eyes watched as he filled the two glasses and handed her one. He then told her he was sorry. She didn't drink not one sip. The only thing that drank out of that cup was the floor. She barely had enough strength to even hold the cup to her face. She was still in shock. The water finished making a mess on the floor before the glass ultimately fell from her delicate fingertips. Shards scattered on the floor, but she wasn't in the right mindset to pay attention to that.

"I hate you. Is that what you want me to say? " she asked lowly trying to control herself, but she could only do so much. Dai turned her back after giving him one last glance and headed to the door. Her hand turned the doorknob and she spoke up, not wanting to face him anymore. "I hate...that I love you...goodbye Tobias." she said shakily as she hurriedly shut the door behind her to go to her car.

I said it and now I won't have any regrets. He can deal with whatever he wants to and he won't have to deal with me ever again. I'll try my best to go home through the side streets at 30mph and make it home. Yeah.. yeah.. good idea.

As she drove away she realized she took his hankerchief. She knew there was no way she was going back so all the stuff she left at his place will just have to stay there and all the stuff he gave her... she hadn't figured that part out yet.

Her worst first date…

It had been a while since she had even gone on a date let alone a first one. It took Stephanie a moment to think about it, to recollect all the dates she had been on and pick a worst.

“I think the worst was with this guy my friend set me up with a couple years ago.” She started, rolling her eyes, “I don’t even know why I agreed to the date. I think it was because I was bored and…” She trailed off, shaking her head and shifting in her seat. “Anyway. Him and I were messaging back and forth for a few days before we went and he asked if he could bring a friend along because I guess he was going through something.”

Stephanie looked up at Aurcel, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips. “Turns out this guy had just been dumped and he was a mess. I’m talking bawling the whole time. My date was trying to comfort him but he was saying the worst stuff about this girl. Like that she was ugly anyways and stuff like that.” Stephanie rolled her eyes, resting her temple against Aurcel shoulder once again as she started to giggle. “He even had the audacity to ask me if I had any single friends I could invite to take this guys mind off of his ex and then tried to kiss me at the end of the date. So… yeah… I think that had to have been my worst first date. Besides everything with my brother this is ages upon ages better than that guy.”

Steph tilted her head to look up at him, eyes darting about his face for a brief moment. “And you’re way cuter than he was too so. There’s also that.”

;; Tobias
Tobias heard the water dripping onto the floor and the glass slipping out of Dai's hands and shattering on the cold tile ground. He stared at the sharp shards shattering the ground, then looked back at Dai just in time to look her in the eyes as she said her piece. It hurt. Of course it hurt. The woman he loved telling him she hated him, and that she hated loving him cut like a knife through the chest.

He couldn't bring himself to say anything as she left. He just stood and watched. Once she was out and the door was closed behind her, he poured what was left of his water down the sink, immediately reaching for a bottle of brandy and pouring it straight. He leaned against his kitchen counter and sipped, tears welling up in his eyes. He couldn't cry. He wouldn't cry. He was better than this.

He began to cry. It was a rather foreign sensation, he didn't do it often. His breathing was heavy as the tears flowed, he attempted to suck down more of his drink in a vain effort to stop the tears from coming. Tobias' frustration grew, bubbling up inside of him. "GodDAMN IT." He shouted, chucking his glass on the floor, allowing it's shards to join Dai's glass.

He turned on his heel to head towards his room. He could shower, go to bed, and have his entire wretched day be over with. Before he took more than three steps a piece of art on the wall caught his eye. Dai had helped him pick it out. Tobias stared at it for a few seconds, completely frozen, before he took a knife from the block in the kitchen. He walked up to the painting and began to cut in long harsh strokes, four or five times over, until the painting was completely destroyed. He left the knife stuck in the wall, surely a damage that he'd have to get fixed in the near future.

Perched on a nearby decorative table, there was a vase filled with flowers. He grabbed it and threw it on the ground. He had stopped crying. Redirecting the energy used to make the tears flowing from his eyes to acts of destruction, he chose to continue his rampage. Glassware, pictures, pottery soon found themselves scattered all over the place. He opened a cabinet and began to chuck ceramic plates at the wall. The things he was destroying were quite expensive, and would cost him a pretty penny to replace. The loss was nothing compared to the loss of the woman who had just left him for good.

Tobias took a shaky breath as he looked at the room destroyed around him. It was a wreck. The cleaning lady would be here tomorrow, it would all go away by tomorrow night. It would be fine. He would recover from this. He had to.

Tobias fucking hated Halloween.

earing her worst date didn't make him jealous at all of the other people before him. Granted anyone would've been better than that guy. Aurcel laughed as he couldn't help himself. "Now I don't know what that guy was thinking..especially trying to kiss you after all of that nonsense." He told her while looking at their hands together. Just that made him smile despite the surrounding events.

"If that were me we would be on a very intimate date and I wouldn't utter another woman's name out my mouth that's not yours. As for the kissing well..." he trailed off after he glanced at his lips.

"You'll know soon enough"
he mentioned before removing his fingers from her hand and instead he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. His smell more prominent with hints of woody apple and cinnamon.

"At least I'm happy to hear I'm better looking. I got that going for me" he laughed while checking the people that kept coming in since the sliding automatic doors made a distinct noise everytime they moved. "You, however, I don't think I'd like to take my eyes away from you. I also don't want to scare you away with my intensity so...eventually you'll see what I mean if I'm being to confusing princesa." Aurcel gave a gentle smell to her. He hoped after today things will be solved for her and her family. Then maybe Stephanie will be able to breathe.

Despite everything, he was making her smile.

He was keeping her calm, stopping her from losing herself. From his sweet words to his comforting presence, Stephanie felt almost like her world wasn’t crumbling around her. She could breathe. Aurcel was a beautiful distraction.

She was swooning. She knew she was swooning. It was almost inappropriate considering the circumstances and yet Stephanie couldn’t help herself. Her attention was on him, her eyes locked on his face, only drifting away from time to time when she thought she heard familiar voices or names. Somehow he brought her right back in, brought her into a warm cocoon that she could nestle into.

The moment his hand left hers, she felt the loss. In an instant she was swimming in his scent, his warmth. It made her dizzy, surrounded her. She breathed him in.

“Then don’t.” She whispered, leaning into his embrace, his touch. “Don’t go anywhere. Don’t… look away.”

She felt silly. Ridiculous, flirting and falling over a man that she barely knew. Crushing like a schoolgirl. Yet there she was, tumbling over herself and trusting him to be the glue that she needed in that moment.

“I don’t think you could scare me away.” She hummed, letting herself relax into him. Steph closed her eyes and for a moment she forgot where she was and what was happening. “Call me crazy but I may be in a little too deep for you to frighten me with intensity.”

e closed his eyes also as he was trying to calm himself down from her words. "People say that and now look at me. Single and flirting with a beautiful woman in the hospital waiting area. I'm crazy. I'm considered mental" he said jokingly. He was happy to just see she looked a bit better than when he had first seen her today.

"I just need you to remember what you're saying to me now and don't forget it later. If you tell me to look at you then I won't stop and there's no taking it back" he expressed to her. Aurcel needed her to also understand that when he takes an instrest in someone it's not just for fun. He saw her the first time and thought he had to have her no matter what. He hadn't felt that crazy for someone in years. It was a nice turn of events for him. Something to look forward to or rather someone.

"If you are the type to just want to have fun or you're not sure what you want right now I'll wait till you're sure. I told you earlier I won't go anywhere and I stand by my word"
Aurcel exclaimed lowly so only she could hear him. His lips kissed the top of her head as if it was a promise made between the two of them.

It was over for her.

Nothing was stopping her from tumbling down the cliff that was Aurcel. No brakes. She was barreling headfirst and even if she wanted to she wouldn't have been able to stop herself. He said all the right things, made all the right moves. Sure it was fast but didn't all of the right things move a bit fast? Rollercoasters, bullet trains, planes, wifi. There was an undeniable pull, a chemistry that Stephanie had never felt before. Maybe it was farce. Maybe it would be short lived.

She didn't care. Not when it felt this good.

A soft smile spread on her lips when he called her beautiful. It was such a sweet thing to hear from him. To know that was how he thought of her. Beautiful. Stephanie hummed softly, listening to him speak, savouring the moment with him. Her cheeks flushed slightly when she felt his lips press to her head. She felt warm, fluttery, falling into a tizzy. The logical part of her was screaming. Telling her that it was too fast too soon. The other half, though, the part of her that was fawning and swooning over the man who had come to stand beside her when her world turned on his axis... it was begging for more.

"I didn't think I wanted anything." She admitted quietly, fluttering her eyelids open and tilting her head to meet his gaze. "Is it crazy that I changed my mind so quickly? I mean... we are sitting her and... and all I want... all I need is for you to stay with me. I think - no I know - that I want everything."

he didn't think she wanted anything and yet here she was looking up at him with brown tired, puffy eyes. He still thought she was beautiful even like this. He stared down at her as she finished speaking to him. He could almost mask her voice with the sound of his heart beating into his chest.

"Well being with me makes everything crazy so yes you are a little loco, but thats okay. I can..definitely handle that" Aurcel responded to her. Everything? She wants everything when she doesn't even know what I have to offer fully yet. How cute.

"After a proper date if you're still saying things like think just know I won't be apologizing for anything that happens after. Got it princesa?"
He told her, asking her in the end.

"Maybe I should've recorded our conversation so I can go back to it if you start to get shy" he then teased her. To think if I wasn't persistent I wouldn't be here..I don't even want to think about that or what she would've done by herself. She has me now. Now she doesn't have to worry.

God he was making her heart race.

If they were anywhere else. If it were any other time. Oh… the things Stephanie would say and do. It was inappropriate for her to even think that way right now, she knew it. She should be worrying about her brother and yet there she was in the arms of a man. If it weren’t for the underlying fear and love for her brother she would have let him whisk her away then and there.

Yet she didn’t. At the end of the day her brother was still missing and could very well be severely injured or dead. She didn’t want to think about it. Didn’t want to let her mind dwindle on the fear, instead pushing it into the direction of Aurcel.

Her eyes flicked about his face as he spoke, lingering in his lips before catching his gaze once again. Being so close to him, surrounded by his warmth, his scent, it did everything to her. Her heart was pounding against her chest and yet she seemed so helpless to do much of anything, bound by the chains of the fear for her brother. It couldn’t be more. Not yet.

“So you like your girls a little crazy?” She teased in return, offering him a slight grin, “Alright. Alright. But I mean… If this proper date is better than this one? How could I not still want everything? You’ve ticked all the boxes and then some. I should have given you my number the first time you asked.”

There were a few coughs that left her mouth, but her world was dark. She could hear ringing and she was disoriented. A shot of pain surged through her head causing her to wince, before slowly she was able to open her eyes. All she could see was darkness and concrete, though she could feel the moving hand of the lady who she was helping before. The ringing slowed and she could hear her name.

ANNIE!

Outside of the pile of rubble was Noah yelling for her. His chief and current Incident commander was yelling at him to wait, that it was unstable and more rubble could collapse, but Severide didn't listen. He would rush to help anyone, but espescially the two paramedics he spent a large chunk of his time with that had become family. His gloved hands began to pick up rock after rock, debris after debris no matter what pain or exhaustion he felt.

Everyone else stay back!

He heard his chief command, but he continued until he could See Annie's face, "Santana! I'm going to get you out, be still!" His hands continued to dig before a slab of concrete shifted it and slid by him hitting him a bit, before sliding to the side. He mostly ignored it, before getting Annie free enough to get her out. When she was out, she immediately began to help him continue to dig and soon the lady they were helping out, but Annie was having tunnel vision. When she knew that lady was safe she didn't stop digging, no matter how many cuts or scratches or grime was on her ungloced hands. She was Melody rush in at the last moment and she was going to get her free. So Noah and Annie worked and worked, before finally pulling Melody out and immediately Annie went to work on her trying to make sure she was ok before she and Noah pulled her away from the collapse. Annie hugged her tightly, but stopped because she realized she could still have internal injuries or broken bones or anything.

While they were doing that, Noah stepped back and smiled before collapsing. Blood was gushing out of his side. Apparently some rebar or some type of pipe was sticking out of the concrete slab that hit him earlier and stabbed him. Annie moved from Melody and did her best to pack up the wound, glad her jump back was close.

"Chief! Severide is down, and it's bad!" Annie moved to continue her work, successfully able to stop the bleeding, but knowing he had already lost a lot of blood. Paddy had arrived to the scene at that time and looked to her, "Hey, I'll give your ambulance an escort let's go."

She nodded and with the help of Paddy and Chief, got Severide in the ambulance and they were on their way sirens and lights going crazy.

Meanwhile.....

Yessie had made it to the hospital to help maintain security, help identify people who were being brought in and any body who was looking for information for a loved one. She helped organize everything and put out a blast on social media. She was helping someone when she noticed Stephanie standing with someone and pulled her radio up to her mouth,"Any updates on Dante Gibson?" She figured she'd be here for him, which meant somehow she knew he was at the scene when the building collapsed. When she got a response she took a deep breath and approached the two.

"Hey baby Gibson, uhh I don't know if you remember me but I am Detective Torres. I am helping coordinate the emergency response, but I wanted to give you an update on your brother. He was in the building when it collapsed and he is currently buried and unaccounted for. They are waiting to begin search operations until they are sure there is no threat of further collapse. That's all I know right now."

Aurcel Colm

urcel shook his head. I like you. Whether you're crazy or not. My crush is you. My person..i want it to be you, but I can't say that now. It's too much and there's all this stuff going on. I'll have to wait.

"No I don't think you should've. You made me work hard. Made me show you that you're exactly what I wanted, hopefully at least"
he exclaimed as time passed by between them. He didn't know how long it was, but eventually there was someone who came in that caught his eye. She was looking at the two of them and then talk to her radio. That can't be good..

The lady walked over to them and explained the situation. Aurcel knew it was best to stay at the hospital and not go there, maybe it would be something he'd have to convince Steph about after hearing her brother was under rubble and unaccounted for. "How long do you think that would take for them to start looking?" Aurcel asked. He wasn't even sure how bad the building looked, but he wasn't about to ask questions Steph wasn't ready to hear the answers for. He would be there for her to hold her hand through..all of this.

Aurcel, Yessie

The bubble popped.

Aurcel had been doing such a good job of making her smile and distracting her from the horrors of reality that she almost forgot. She almost forgot until she glanced up and saw a familiar face walking toward them. In that instant Stephanie felt her heart plummet. The only reason a detective would come to talk to a waiting family was if there was bad news. Her breath caught, eyes growing glassy as she was addressed by the woman almost casually.

Baby Gibson. A nickname that she had been trying to kick for years and yet everyone that knew Te knew her as such. Just the baby sister who relied on her brother way too much. Stephanie couldn't even scoff or feel resentful over the nickname in that moment. All she cared about was what came after.

He was in the building when it collapsed and he is currently buried and unaccounted for.

Stephanie felt like she was going to get sick. They were waiting? They were waiting to pull her brother out of a collapsed building when he could be crushed and dying? This was severe. This was bad. This was bad enough that she would have to start telling people. She would have to...

"H-his girlfriend is on the way she's... Lăcră... She's on the way." Stephanie mumbled, eyebrows pinching together as she stared up at Detective Torres almost pleadingly, "Please... Can you tell her for me? I can't.. I can't do this."

Her gaze turned to Aurcel, tears starting to spring into her eyes, threatening to spill over. "I can't so this. I can't.. Please... I can't sit here and wait I..." She was falling apart again, hands shaking, her stomach was turning. Bile rose to her throat and she swallowed it down, picturing all of the horrible things her brother could be going through. He could be crushed, scared and alone. He could be dying. He could be dead. He could be dead and alone and she could never see him again.
