Fantasy Virterde Chronicles: Gifted Ones

Beowulf said:
"No strings. I'm a bit insulted that you think that there would be some. What do I look like? A behated?" he said jokingly. Well, at least she was cautious. "Now, what do you want. I don't kill people however, or get you with your 'true love', get you immense wealth, or make you the ruler of anything." Conner continued, ticking the points off on his fingers.
Aria gave a understanding nod as the boy said that he was hurt that she thought that he was a behated. She then watched as he ticked off his fingers as he listed the things that he couldn't give her after asking her what she wanted. What I want… I don't really know what I want… If it was earlier I might have asked to fix our debt, but even then I might not have done that. What I want… Aria looked and gave a small smile.

"I don't really have anything I want at the moment can I decide later?"

She hoped that answer would be yes and that she would be allowed to decide later. She might be able to make better use of the gift given to her, if she thought about it a little bit more. Although she wasn't really expecting him to say that it would be alright.

"That's fine. How about we make the contract now, and let you be able to change it at a later date? That way, everyone wins. I form a contract, and you don't have to decide." Conner stated, rather proud of his logic. Now how did he make a contract again? Was it just verbal? Or did it have to be written? He should know what to do when it comes to that. At the least he could make it up as he went along.

"It's just the way people act, I don't know if your floating supernatural kind does the same, but I know that we humans do. It's quite a basic pattern by now..." Lorin said as he found his usual spot on the hill, laying down on his back as he continued eating on his pink strawberry flavored pocky. It was his favorite, and he simply could never eat enough of them. He was still amazed by the fact that he had good and healthy teeth, but he hadn't been neglecting his teeth just because of his sweet tooth. "What are you guys called anyway? I shouldn't go around calling your kind 'floating magical people' as I believe I might offend some of you," Lorin asked Ava, looking at her from where he was laying down in the soft summer grass, enjoying a sweet summer breeze.

"I go here to get some peace and quiet, honestly the town is just too noisy... It's such a bothersome place..." Lorin muttered to himself as he closed his eyes and placed his glasses neatly beside himself, taking a deep breath in before opening his deep purple eyes staring up at the clear sky. "I don't feel amazing, just another human on this planet. I have yet to find something significant in myself... and you are the first one to say that I am a 'warm' person. I am far more often compared to something colder, like ice," he noted as he let out another relieved sigh and finsihed his pocky, and held up the box for her to take one as well. "You already took one, might as well take another," Lorin stated, noticing the redness in her cheeks, and sat up, leaning his forehead against hers. "You're red. Did you catch a fever?" Lorin asked as he was comparing their temperatures and he closed his eyes to feel it better.

"You call me a beloved..though I don't know why I don't think I was much beloved." She watches him, he really was very different then many of the other humans she's met. "Peace and quiet huh, I don't really like that, I love the noise and being around people..being dead really hinders me from doing that." She sighs and floats closer to him taking another pocky. "You are quite amazing, you're very warm and just nice." Her blush grew as their foreheads touched. "I-I-I feel fine..your eyes are beautiful." She whispers that last part.

Beloved? That's an interesting name... I should note that down to myself, since calling them magical floating people sounds rather silly. But it's not as if I bothered to give them a proper name either. Lorin thought as he looked into her Emerald green eyes, thinking of her statement as he pulled himself away from her. "You do feel a bit hot though... If you're sick then get some medicine, I hate catching colds. They are such a bother," Lorin said to her as she once again told him how 'warm' and 'amazing' he was, but he found it difficult to believe. It was not only due to the fact that they had just met he found it difficult, but also the fact how no one had told him this before, and it seemed as if she was just throwing out compliments to get on his good side, did he have something she wanted perhaps?

Ava complimented his eyes, as he realized he had removed his glasses in front of her and quickly searched for them with his hand, putting them neatly on top of his nose again and looked away from Ava, taking in the scenery instead. So she's dead... that's probably why not everyone can see her... Then I am officially talking to dead people, so my "imaginary friend" turned into a "ghost". This certainly took an interesting turn... Beloved... huh? I wonder what sort of feeling that might be... to be loved... For some reason I don't know, and I feel as if I should... right mom and dad? Lorin thought to himself, staring up at the sky and clenched his locket in his hand. It was a precious memory, and one of the few pictures where he was with his entire family, even if he had no memories of it.

"I-I'm fine..we dead don't get sick." She tried to fight down her blush. Ava didn't know what she was feeling like and being close to this boy made her feel warm and happy. As he looks away and puts his glasses back oh, she floats up and stares at him. What was happening to her she just met this boy and she didn't know what she was feeling. She stared at him before flying away. A contract would have been nice but these feeling are not so nice and she didn't like them.

Aria nodded, "Then I shall ask you for a favour when I need it and we shall make the contract."

She waited for him to start the contract.

"Oh, well, ummm." Conner saud, scratching his head. "Lets shake on it." he saud before sticking his hand out. This seemed like it woukd do. 'I wish being a beloved came with a guide.' he thought to himself.

Aria looked at his outstretched hand and smiled happily as she took it, "Well I guess that means the contract is finished~!"

Looking at him happily Aria watched the world around her, I wonder what I am suppose to do?

There was a brief, faint light as soon as their hands met, but that quickly faded. "Ok... I think that's it. You can go ahead and do whatever now. I'll just follow behind, I guess."

Aria looked at him and then smiled at the children that had run up to her. Chuckling she laughed as they tugged on her clothes asking her to sing. Looking back at the boy Aria realised that she hadn't asked him for his name. Well I guess I will do that after this song... Opening her mouth Aria smiled as she changed the atmosphere around them and allowed a calming breeze to flow past them.

"Ah... I see. I suppose that makes sense," Lorin answered her as he laid back down on his back, still staring at the sky as Ava's face suddenly blocked the sky, and the sudden eye contact made Lorin's cheek light up again, as he sat up and looked at her for a small while, before seeing that she was still staring at him. "Is there something on my face?" He asked her as she suddenly flew away, without another word as Lorin laid back down on his back and sighed. "It seems as I finally turned boring enough for her to leave me alone..." Lorin said and stared up at the sky before opening his locket and took a quick peek inside of the family portrait and smiled a small smile to himself. It's been a long time since I've talked to someone for that long... It feels good to return to the normal silent everyday... completely alone... Lorin thought as he turned on his side, his glasses falling off as he closed his eyes to fall asleep. He had pulled an all nighter, and was far more tired than he thought. He let out a small yawn before he felt a small summer breeze, eventually falling asleep on the small grassy hill he had found. This is how I like it, alone... just me... I'll just sleep here a small while... and then go back before my brother gets angry again...

Ava groaned as she floated away. She really need to make a contract but she didn't know about that guy. He made her feel very different..warm and nice and she really didn't like those feeling. What was wrong with her he was just a dumb human, she shouldn't be feeling like this. She pouted as she floated by watching as human took no notice of her, it had been nice to talk to someone after all these years and his eyes had been really pretty, her cheeks flushed and she shook her head. No no she would just find another human as..warm and sweet as Lorin was and avoid the latter s she would feel normal and not hot and shy.

(Sorry for the double post but wasn't sure if you saw the other one ^^)

Conner was a bit surprised that the kids knew the girl, let alone that she would sing to them. Well, he didn't like it as much as most people did. So, covering his ears with his headphones, Conner looked for something on his music player. That song was good in all, the one she told him about, but in all honesty, he liked electric music more. Some people thought that it is a stupid thing to listen to, but he liked the bass and the rythm.

After she finished her song she took a peak at the Beloved boy and chuckled at the sight of him with his headphones over his ears, focusing on his own little world. The kids handed her some coins before leaving and Aria thanked them as they left.

"I have given up on giving the kids free performances," She whispered so that only the beloved boy could hear, "Every time I try to give it back they keep giving it back to me. I guess in a way it is rude to turn down a gift isn't it?"

Stretching with a sigh Aria looked at the boy face to face with a cheerful face, "I haven't gotten your name yet."

Looking at him with puppy eyes Aria looked at him to tell her his reply. But I wonder if he heard me with those headphones on... Do I have to repeat all of that again?

@Beowulf

"Hm? What?" Conner said, seeing the girl's lips move but not hearing what she said. Uncovering one ear, he hears the tail end of what it said. "Oh, my name is Conner McKinley. And what might your name be?"

Aria sighed and smiled softly after hearing his name, so he didn't hear me... Well it's for the best that he didn't hear me anyway. Smiling cheerfully Aria looked at the boy named Connor McKingly.

"I like that... Nice to meet you Connor! My name is Aria!"

Smiling happily she looked at him and held out a hand.

"No, no, no. It's Conner, not or, McKinley, not McKingly. Not sure why people do that. It's a simple enough name. But I'm used to it." Conner corrected her as he took her hand and shook it. It was a small mistake, but a frequent one. He wondered if that's how twins felt when their names were mixed up.

Aria blushed and bowed her head, "I am so sorry! Wait... Can you read my mind?"

She was sure that she had though that rather than saying it out loud. Thinking back she was nearly absolutely sure she did so. But of course there was no way for her to make certain of the fact. Looking at Connor she looked at him suspiciously. Can he read all of my thoughts right now?

(Curse the misreads.) Conner was surprised that she thought he could read minds, one mistake just normally led to the other so he assumed. But, deciding to mess with her just a little bit longer, "Yes, yes I can. Stop thinking that." he said with a completely straight face, but laughing on the inside.

Aria looked at him in surprised and tried to block out all of her thoughts, This is way too- STOP~! *starts singing* Pink Fluffy Unicorns... Pink Fluffy Unicorns... Aria looked at him and then blushed from what she was thinking. This is embarrassing...

(Haha No problem~! ^^)

Conner couldn't hold it anymore. A small snicker escaped his lips before he burst out into laughter. "I can't believe you believed me." he said between fits of laughter. "I can't read minds. I doubt anyone can. Oh I can do stuff." Wiping a tear of laughter away and calming down a bit, he sees her turning a bright red and breaks out again.

Aria flushed darker and darker and she quickly placed her hands over her face trying to hide her embarrassment. Oh goodness! That is... Oh~! Peaking at him through her fingers, Aria gave a small chuckle at her own gullibility and looked at Connor slowly moving her hands to around her waist.

"Oh, that was a good laugh. Even better for me, considering people might think you're crazy for laughing at apparently nothing. I should keep that in mind myself actually. Don't want you hating me for making you laugh." Conner said once the fits of laughter were done.
