I watch the other turn on his heel and walk away to his office. "Good....day?" The words sound foreign, not feeling comfortable wishing him goodnight when there will be no night to sleep through. This deal has snatched away the precious sun, the only light I'd ever known that wasn't crafted by the reflection of the moon or the faint glimmer of stars. "Sleep tight, Kanin." I say softly before signing as I turn to my room, heading inside as slowly as I can.
I'm not tired, I'm not sure that sleep will come my way at all. I fear being attacked, I suppose. Or expericing some outrageous nightmare that'll involve vampires ganging up to kill me. I don't want to endure such things. If I do, it may be all I'll ever see of this place. I could be haunted with my own worried and doubts, of the horrors that could lurk behind the faces of each passing stranger.
I stay awake until the sun peaks above the horizon. I refused to give into sleep until I could see the sun filtering up and touching the land that's shrouded in darkness. I open my window momentarily, embracing the warm rays that filter towards me in a welcoming way. But I don't stay long. I reluctantly close the window before too much time has passed, pulling back the curtains to allow all the light that can to pour in. Then, I head to the plush bed and lie down. The bed is softer than a feather. I bet this is what clouds feel like. But sleep doesn't come naturally. I feel so out of place. Like I should be doing some productive at this time.
Finally, after what feels like hours, my eyes have grown to heavy for me to remain awake. The world goes dark around me, and I fall into the abyss that is my dreams.
Surprisingly, they are peasant.
