Fantasy Unlikely Alliance

AlannaTrebond

Fear the Fluff
Three hundred years ago, humanity had come across dragons for the first time. During their first contact with their first dragon, the humans, thinking that they were simple beasts, killed the dragon. This resulted in a long and bloody war between humans and dragons. Both sides took heavy losses, and each retreated to their own lands in an attempt to preserve their races. However, a peaceful agreement had never been reached- rather, it was a mutual understanding not to enter the other's lands. Usually anyone that crossed the border- regardless of human or dragon- was never heard from again.

Nearly twenty years ago, a clan was traveling near the border when a child was discovered missing from the clan. At the same time, a dragon had been seen flying in the area. As they were searching frantically, a dragon had landed in the nearby forest and discovered a crying child. It was the same lost child from the clan, and the dragon, taking pity on the child, perhaps, decided to return the child to the clan. When the dragon first approached the clan, they thought that it was to attack. However, someone saw the child on the dragon's back, and it soon became apparent what the dragon's intention had been. The child safely climbed down from the dragon's back, and the dragon, seeing that all was well, flew away.

Since then, there have been rumors of peace talks with the dragons, although the rulers have neither confirmed nor denied this. However, the dragons need something permanent to seal peace, for they have said that they have no faith in a simple paper. So, the king of Vesperia proposed an idea- marry some of the most promising subjects to some of the most promising dragons. The dragons had agreed to this. Some believe that peace is the only way that the humans and dragons will be able to survive. Others believe that the dragons are nothing short of barbarians and will have nothing to do with the other race. Some dragons see humans as inferior. So what will happen now? Will there be peace, or another war?

Solona walked with purpose into the castle's dinning room. There was supposed to be a welcoming feast for those engaged for the peace talks-her brother's idea, of course. He seemed to believe that everything would go according to plan, and that even the couples involved would find happiness with each other, if not love. She wasn't so sure, although she didn't say as much. As the king's younger sister, her job was to support him. So, if he wanted her to hold a welcoming feast for a group of dragons and humans, that's what she would do. She made sure that everything was well before leaving, heading to the entry hall of her castle. She didn't want anything to go wrong- peace needed to happen.

---------------------------

Alessia had arrived early, much to her parent's joy and to her distaste. They were trying to get back into her good graces, so have spent every minute since she arrived talking with her about how lucky she was and so on. She didn't particularly care for them, or her engagement. So, she announced that she was going to make sure that her horse was properly being taken care of, and left. She knew that they'd be leaving before the end of the day to return home- of course, they couldn't stay long, and Alessia was honestly happy to see them go. They were the ones that decided that she no longer belonged in the family until she got engaged to a dragon, after all. So, yes, she was angry. And why wouldn't I be? She thought, shaking her head. They're idiots. She decided, walking to her horse's stall. Her horse was a pretty chestnut mare named Danya, who was her loyal companion through... well, everything. She began to brush the mare. Despite the fact that she knew she was supposed to meet her soon-to-be husband, she was stalling. It was not something she looked forward to.

-------------------------

Kadami walked towards the castle, staring at the people that were staring at her. She had never seen so many humans- well, maybe once she had. But there were also elves and dwarves, which she had never seen before. And children! They were so small! Well, not as small as hatchlings, but still. It surprised her for some reason. When she entered the castle, she stared at the portraits on the walls for a few minutes, ignorant of the fact that Solona was in the room.

Marius stood atop one of the many towers of the castle they were apparently going to be staying in. He looked down on the activities of the humans and sighed. 'they don't even notice that something is up here....' He flexed his wings (He was in his halfway form) and lashed his tail before realizing that he thought it was too quiet. Looking around, he noticed that a small storm was off over the eastern horizon and smirked. He closed his eyes and concentrated on the energy he felt from that way, slowly feeding the storm some of his own power to make it grow bigger and move this way a bit faster. He stopped when it would make a big enough impact and jumped down from the tower to land on top of a wooden building that held horses. 'its a barn' he mentally told himself as he jumped off the roof to the ground. He figured it would be an hour before the storm hit the area, since he wanted it to look natural as it came this way. He looked around and realized that many of the humans were looking at him with fear. Crossing his arms he glared at them until they moved along.

Tirrania looked around as she walked down the hallway, sighing with relief as she didn't see her sister anywhere. She went to the room that was assigned to her and stepped inside. Looking around she noticed her stuff at the foot of the bed and began to unpack her stuff on the right side of the room. She couldn't be away for too long but she needed to put her things away. She finished and looked at the other side of the room, wondering who her fiance would be. Sighing, Tirrania left her new room and went to the entrance hall to see her sister. It was bound to happen, so she might as well get it over with now.

A small dragon walked along the road, confused and slightly scared. Carissa pranced nervously in her tiny form and jumped to the side as a carriage came by her, she'd almost been hit a few times already. She made a pathetic squeak and her wings drooped as she realized she was lost. She didn't want to transform since it might be considered rude, or a human might hurt her if she startled them. She sat on her haunches at the side of the road and tried to figure out what to do.

((Carissa is open for anyone that might be traveling to the castle))

((wow just read Carissa's bio and was surprised about the arrangement LOL))

Indicus was surprised when he got a letter during his travels that he was to be wed to a dragon, he was traveling to where they were to meet when he saw a small dragon almost ran over by a carriage and then watched as the dragon sat on the side of the road. He walked towards the dragon wanting to help a fellow traveler. "Hello do you need help with anything? I just was passing by and saw what happened and thought you could use a hand."

Carissa looked up at the sound of a voice and blinked when she saw a human was talking to her. Then her mind caught up and she perked up quickly. With a flap of her wings she was up in the air and then wrapped around his arm from shoulder to wrist. She had a tendency to do it since she was young and plus, this human was warmer than her! It wasn't fair, everyone seemed to be. She made a small purring noise before jumping back down and changing into halfling form, her wings and tail showing with smatterings of scales across her shoulders, nose, ears, and the back of her hands as well as her feet. "Thank you so much for stopping!" She looked up at the male while smiling. She now knew that there were nice humans too.

@Shadow Dancer ((Why is it so surprising? Maybe he just needed some more hyperness in his life xD ))

Alessia looked up as she heard a thump from the roof of the stable. Frowning slightly, she put the brush away and left her horse's stall. When she got outside, she saw what was obviously a dragon, although he was in his human form- or mostly, anyway. He still had a tail and wings, but otherwise he looked like a person. She saw him glare at people, who all quickly scurried away, and frowned again. "It's rude to glare, you know. Someone might get the wrong idea." She paused, sensing something in the wind. There shouldn't be a storm here... she looked at the dragon again, returning her attention to him.

@Jayden Kisubo

(LOL)

Indicus was surprised when she wrapped herself around him but like anything else he took all it in stride. Even with her odd way of greeting him he couldn't help but grin. "Your welcome Ma'am, my name is Indicus, anyways where are you headed?

Zain pinched the bridge of his nose as one of the lesser dragons read the letter from the storm dragon elder. The man really did know to press his buttons and this just pushed him to wanting to skewer the man for even suggesting this from him. Damn his pride and his honor to uphold for his mother...Zain sighed as he stood and reached out for his cane. Being blind was quite a disadvantage but it also gave him an advantage over the enemy. And knowing the storm dragon elder loved to make an entrance to parties aka causing a brew of storms to hit and cause mass chaos, he'll go his own way. With cane in hand, he whacked the lesser dragon over the head with it.

"Wrong one, idiot. I can tell the difference."

He said as another lesser dragon gave him his cane and left the wrong one with the other lesser dragon. He walked a bit out to the garden to look at it one last time. The beauty of the crystal garden that his mother had attended to for centuries had fallen to him and he did not disappoint. His home was in a crystal forest that his clan created but it was much sought after by both humans and dragons since crystal from the crystal forest could be used in many things. They even went as far as trying to get cuttings from the trees but to no avail as the crystal tree cutting only responded with a crystal dragon.

Zain enveloped himself in crystal before traveling to the garden of where the peace talks were being held. He looked to the sky and sighed, the storm dragon elder certainly was going to make an entrance but he wasn't showy like that man.

Looking up at the man in front of her, Carissa nodded as he introduced himself. "I'm happy to meet you Indicus, I'm Carissa Nightshade." She looked around and her wings drooped slightly as she remembered her predicament. "I'm supposed to be going to a castle, but I got lost..." She pouted at her luck and mentally cursed her smaller build for making it harder to see things.

"Nice to meet you Carissa, I happen to be heading for the castle myself so if you want you can follow me." Indicus offered

An irritated sigh escaped Maximums lips as she sat in the dining hall waiting for the stupid engagement feast to begin. She curled her hair with her thumb and kept kicking her feet under the table. Her father that sat next to her kept telling her to quit fidgeting, and to 'Act like a lady' every few minutes. "You want to look presentable when you meet your husband Max" He scolded. Quite frankly, she couldn't give a damn what her father or her supposed 'fiance' thought of her at the moment, even if she tried. Maximum was still quite furious at him for making her do this. She thought of him as the greatest hypocrite here, considering his hate for dragons was even more then hers.

She didn't want to be here. She didn't want to get married. She didn't want to even be in the same room as those disgusting dragons. But everyone ignored that. Everyone ignored what she wanted. Usually she got what she wanted, and it was still quite a shock to her that she was being forced into this. "Max" her father said breaking into her thoughts, " It's for the good of country" She rolled her eyes but didn't say anything back. Fuck the country, She thought.

Solona looked around. There was only a female dragon starting at the paintings here. Maybe the others were delayed? She sighed and shook her head, then noticed Tirrania. "Tiri? What are you doing here?" Why would her younger sister be here, when she lived in the capital? Unless.... her eyes narrowed. "He didn't." She had a sinking feeling all of the sudden. Was she one of the engaged? Why would he make one of his sisters do that, and why her?

@Jayden Kisubo

---------------------------

Meanwhile, Kadami had wondered off from the entry hall. The two females in the room seemed to know each other, and she didn't wish to intrude, despite how interesting it might be. As she wondered, she found her way to the dining room. Only a couple of people were sitting at the table, although there were many people in the room. She tilted her head to the side, momentarily confused, before she remembered that humans had a different hierarchy than her clan. 'Servants'. That's what they're called. They cater to the.... nobles, was it? She shrugged to herself, walking over to the table. There was a pretty human girl there- she could just tell by the smell alone- and an older man that she assumed was related to her. She gave a soft, friendly smile at the two. "Hello."

@Sleepwalking

Zain began to wonder the castle, curiosity getting the better of him. He had always been that since a hatchling and it often lead many elders ire since he walked in on more than one occasion of an elder having sex with his/her mate. Honestly, don't they know to lock the damn door! Tapping his cane let him 'see' the auras of all that was around him, it lead him to a suspicious door. He didn't hear anything on the other side of the door but he opened the door up to...

"My twin is late."

Shiyam said with a semi permanent passive look on her face as she arrived where her brother's scent was strongest and left to the meeting hall, knowing her way around some human structures. But alas her twin often had terrible directions though it was more to his curiosity that lead him into very questionable and outrageous situations.

Marcus~

The air smelled of rain as Marcus dropped to the dry ground, his hob-nailed boots sending up a small cloud of dust. He handed the reins to a waiting stable-hand, patting the neck of his horse as he was taken to be fed, watered and groomed. Straightening his cloak and adjusting his sword belt, Marcus made his way across the wooden bridge leading into the castle courtyard, his "escort" consisting of four legionnaires and an optio, (sergeant) by name of Halmar Pella, a close friend of Marcus', following him. Marcus frowned, knowing that they were there not for his safety, but to ensure he went through with this ridiculous treaty. As well as to make sure he didn't "accidentally" kill a few dragons on his way out. His frown turned into a grimace of anger and disgust, and his hand instinctively went to the pommel of his sword, knuckles turning white as he gripped it. "Calm down Marcus," a voice spoke and Halmar stepped up next to him. "You
have to go through with this, whether you like it or not, the king himself commands it." Marcus rubbed his temples, "I know Halmar, I was there. I just can't wrap my head around it. Why me? It's not like this whole affair will even work, and in the end I'll just be saddled with some dragon woman I'll just be forced to kill anyway." "Don't say things like that," Halamr hissed, looking around to see if anyone had heard them. "The king wishes for peace, and even though you and I don't particularly agree or like it, we must do as commanded."

Marcus was silent the rest of the way to the castle, a brooding scowl on his face.

The great castle doors opened on well-oiled hinges, needing only a guiding hand from two guards, as Marcus and his escort stepped over the threshold into the great hall. Marcus couldn't help but be a little impressed at the sight of the extravagantly decorated and furnished room. Then his face hardened into a cold mask as his senses caught the air.
Dragons. The hair on the back of his neck prickled as he recognized the familiar scent, and it was all he could do to keep from drawing his sword and hunting down the first dragon he could find. He subconsciously shook himself, forcing his body to relax, and took a deep breath, walking further into the great hall.......

Tirrania looked up at her sister with an almost defiant look in her eyes that she didn't have often. "No, he didn't. I asked, and asked, and asked. He said no, until I used logic." She looked off to the side as she spoke, hating that she was having to take a stand and upset her siblings, but knowing it was necessary. "We were told that they were sending members of their own governing body as a show of trust. How would we be able to say that we trusted them with this alliance if we didn't do the same?" She raised her head proudly now. "I was the most likely choice, Solona. I am the youngest and the most sheltered. It is the greatest show of trust. Besides, I am the most open minded out of us all." She smiled slightly and looked around. She saw a man in armor walk in and recognized him from a tour of the kingdom a few years ago. She dipped into a small curtsy of respect to her sister before straightening the hood of her red dress and walking over to the centurion. "Centurion Marcus, it is a pleasure to see that you could make it this evening." She gave him a curtsy and a small smile.

@Shadow Dancer

Marius looked over at the sound of a woman's voice and scoffed at her words, pushing himself from the wall. "Its also rude to stare and makes some people angry or uncomfortable, but I don't see these humans minding that rule. Do you?" His voice was almost a rumble in his chest as he glared at a stable hand that stared at him. The man didn't stop and Marius's tail lashed the air behind him as he unconsciously let out a deep growl.

@AlannaTrebond

(@RoyalPhoenix32 If your characters are in the main hall, Alanna or I can have a character come talk to them. Its just unclear to me where exactly they are... Sorry, I don't want you to feel like you're being ignored.)[/divide]

Solona scowled at her sister. She didn't like this at all. Yes, it logically made sense, but she didn't want her of all people to be at the mercy of a dragon.... regardless of the dragon's intentions. Actually, she didn't want Tirrania to be used as a bargaining chip. if Solona was honest with herself. She's the third heir. She should marry whoever she wants. She knew her role- if any of the sisters should have an arranged marriage, it should be herself. She looked over at the soldier who entered the room as her sister greeted him. I'll discuss this with her later. She would give her a chance to back out before it was too late. Solana was just as stubborn as her siblings when it came to what she wanted- in this case, for her sister to live comfortably.

---------------------------

Alessia rolled her eyes. "So? Ignore them." She planted a hand on her hip. "All you're doing is proving that people are right to think of dragons as beasts. Especially when you growl." She told him, clearly unimpressed. She wasn't a people person herself, and she made it plainly obvious to those that she didn't like, but she didn't glare at strangers just because they looked at her funny. "Besides, if you keep making that face, it'll get stuck. Whatever poor soul you get matched to will be terrified." She told him, although her tone suggested that she didn't really care. Then, she heard the all-too-familiar voice of her father calling her name. She groaned and shook her head. I'm not talking to him anymore. "Anyway. See you." She said quickly, running back into the castle before she was seen.

@Jayden Kisubo

Marcus~

Marcus replied with a crisp salute, right fist to his chest. "Princess Tirrania! What are you doing here?" He asked, eyebrows raised. Then realization struck and his astonishment was replaced with a cold fury. "Those bastards. They've roped you into this mad scheme of theirs as well haven't they." He looked around him, noting that even the usually stoic Halmar looked surprised. His frowned deepened, and a growl escaped his lips as he saw yet another unexpected individual, the princess Solona. "Gods above, they've got both of you."

@Jayden Kisubo

@Jayden Kisubo

Indicus let out a lighthearted laugh. "It's fine Carissa, you can stay on my shoulders." As Indicus walked he swiftly adjusted to the small amount of extra weight on his shoulders. If it weren't for the feeling of Carissa's scales gently rubbing the back of his neck as he walked he would not even know she was there. After a few turns through the streets and a few odd looks from people going about their lives the rough dirt and cobble road turned into a long brick pathway that went through the royal gardens and lead strait to the front castle gates. "Carissa, what brings you to travel from the Dragon territory all the way here to Vesperia's Capitol?" Indicus asked

Placing a soothing hand on the centurion's shoulder, Tirrania spoke softly. "Calm yourself, Marcus. Solona owns this castle and is only our host." She gave him a small smile, amused at his protectiveness. "I fought my brother on my appointment to this engagement. It was necessary and since my brother has a family already and Solona is expected to find a husband among the other kingdoms, I was the best choice. Please understand that this was my choice." She sent an earnest look to him, acting more like a sister and less like his ruler.

@Icerex

"Tch." Marius watched the woman run off and raised an eyebrow. He saw a man come around the corner of the stable and realized he was related to her by his looks. "You, Dragon, have you seen a young woman with long brown hair, dressed slightly.... odd?" The man turned to look at the woman behind him with an overbearing air. He didn't notice the dark look that came over Marius at his rude behavior. "Think this thing can even understand me?" A full blown growl tore its way from Marius's throat as he picked the man up and shoved him against the side of the barn by his throat. "I can understand you, human, yes. No, I haven't seen your bloody woman. However, if you ever disrespect a dragon again, I'll kill you myself." He tossed the man to the side, so that he landed on his bottom a few feet away, and stormed away towards the castle, glancing to the side as he passed the woman's hiding place.

@AlannaTrebond

Carissa gave a small hum and settled down for the journey, not noticing the looks the other humans gave them. This Indicus was so much warmer than her, it was nice. She had almost fallen asleep when he asked her a question. She raised her head to look over at him as much as she could and blink lazily. She gave a small trilling noise similar to a hum and laid her head back down. "Oh, I volunteered to marry a human for my clan. I hope he's nice." She gave a yawn and pressed her head against his neck before settling down again. "What about you, Indicus?"

@Shadow Dancer

@Jayden Kisubo

Indicus started up the path to the castle as he spoke, "Me, I was selected to marry a dragon as part of the treaty. When I got the message I was surprised. You see I am a curious farmer turned traveler so to be selected for the arranged marriages was far from expected. I was also equally surprised that the messenger was able to find me." I chuckled at my own bad joke.

Solona would have laughed, if she had been in a good mood. Rather than that, however, she merely stared at the soldier for a moment, then shook her head. "I'm just here to make sure that there are no beheaddings. That'd ruin my carpet." She joked, then looked around. "Quite a few have shown up. I wonder if that is all of them..." She said, mostly to herself.

---------------------

Alessia quickly turned around the corner as she ran, realizing that she wouldn't get to the castle in time, so she heard the dragon lie about having seen her. She frowned, puzzled. That wasn't what she expected from him. However, the threatening wasn't as surprising. She covered her mouth with a hand to hide her slight smirk. As bad as it sounded, she had to admit that her father had deserved that. Simply put, he was a jerk. After her parents went in the other direction, she hurried to catch up to get to the castle. She should thank him, after all.

@Jayden Kisubo

Mae's heels dug into the ground as she as being dragged into the palace ruthlessly by her Ward, Mala and her fought all the time, this was nothing, "Old lady can you stop dragging me?" she said with a scowl, growing ever more irritated as Mala just laughed and continued dragging her down the path to the palace.

At the moment she probably looked like an idiot seeing as she was in pants -which she wasn't supposed to be wearing but didn't feel like wearing a dress- and being dragged down a pathway against her will.

"You know Esmae, I pity the poor soul that will have to deal with your stubbornness." Mala said, Mae's face taking on a scowl as she swatted the women, "Well. Maybe if you had raised me to be normal I wouldn't be so stubborn." she shot back, Mala's face suddenly mirroring Mae's.

She completely ignored the funny looks she was getting from Nobles and the stares she got from the ones her age as usual.

Mae had gotten used to stares, seeing as she was a idiot and also had bright gold eyes so it was pretty normal for her.

The blonde glowered when Mala finally got her to the castle, "I hate you..." she muttered as they hugged. Both of them knew she didn't mean it though it was always funny to see the irked face Mala made when she said it.

With that Mala opened the door and practically chucked her inside, Esmae landing on her Rump and Mala using her power to close the grand doors behind her. Couldn't she have rolled me in instead? she wondered as she stood up and took in her surroundings.

(@Jayden Kisubo, only Shiyam is in the greeting hall while her blind twin brother is letting his curiosity get the better of him.)

Zain opened the unlocked door to smell oils. Lots of oils and he tapped his cane to see what was around him but an aura of a person beat to it, or should he say people. He felt the temperature drop and he knew he was in trouble. He damned his curiosity to lead him to a bathing room but he didn't hear any water splashing. A shriek rang out through the the castle.

'Crap! Crap! Crap!'

Zain thought as he back peddled away from the door but in doing so he couldn't see what was behind him and sent whatever was behind him crashing to the floor, along with him to the floor thoroughly soaking him in the process.

Shiyam heard the shriek and crash and sighed. Leave it to her twin to wind up in a very awkward situation. She saw some humans talking but didn't want to disturb their talking. Though her twin could handle himself, his curiosity often... She pinched the bridge of her nose as brief irritation made its way to her sigh as multiple shouts and curses were heard as she knew her twin had gotten himself in some major crap. Why oh why did her brother have to have this sort of curiosity? She could understand his books but his curiosity often lead him to gain ire among the elders, especially the storm dragon elder. She didn't know why the man was so adamant about her brother not going to his rooms but with how curious her brother was... She had to agree with the terns the elder presented her. Either Zain was kept from his rooms and not being a curious idiot or Zain will have his blasted off with a thunderbolt to the head the next time he wonders into said elder's room.

Mae, jumped slightly when she heard a shout and then a string of curses attached to it, Wow I'm guessing someone just spilled something on a fine ladies dress, she though in her head then walked down the hall -admiring the art as she went- and ran up the stairs. The hallway was bright and she didn't see anyone's attire ruined so that meant her guess was wrong, she turned the corner then noticed a man on the ground with a very expensive looking vase broken behind him. Then she looked over at the open door of the bathing chamber and got an idea of what was going on.

With a slight snort the blonde blew with her mouth making a steady gust of wind slam the door shut, much to her delight hearing another shriek. Esmae walked over to the man on the floor, bending over and staring down at him, "Are you okay?" she asked cautiously. It was quite funny so trying to restrain her wild laughter was next to impossible and she ended up with quiet giggles.

Marcus nodded, feeling slightly foolish, he must have missed the memo about Solona. "Well, be that as it may, rest assured I will do everything in my power to protect you from these barbarian scum my lady. And when events eventually turn grim, I will do my best to turn this as an advantage for the empire."
