[in which the Crystal Gems do not reside in Beach City, but rather Gravity Falls]

Just west of weird in the town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, is a strange temple depicting a large woman with the looks of a goddess; nobody knows quite when it got there, who built it, or where it even came from, but everyone simply accepts it as part of the town. However, when curious twins Mabel and Dipper Pines visit the town one summer to stay with their Great Uncle Stan, they notice the temple and can't bear to stay ignorant of what lies inside.
As for the residents of the temple- They are the Crystal Gems, magical alien warriors from another planet who fought in the rebellion against their Homeworld thousands of years ago. Fighting along with them is Steven Universe, a gem-human halfbreed of sorts whose curiosity begins to peak for the ever-toured Mystery Shack. He'd spent his entire life away from the place and is beginning to wonder why his caretakers had ever so carefully restricted him from it. One day, though, the boy takes action and decides that he's going to see for himself what in the universe is in that shack.
[For some clarity- All the characters are exactly how they appear in canon! That means that none of the Gravity Falls characters are gems, and none of the gems are humans. Furthermore, this RP takes place at the beginning of Gravity Falls but in current time with Steven Universe; this means that Dipper and Mabel have just arrived in Gravity Falls, but Peridot is a Crystal Gem, Malachite is trapped under the ocean, the cluster is a known threat, etc.]
