Max climbs out of the passenger seat of the car and quickly unloads her stuff onto the campground. She waves goodbye to the driver and watches them drive away. Max then starts setting up her tent. She lays the tarp on the ground and unrolls the tent on top of it. She starts putting the pegs together until she has formed a structure resembling a tent.

Leo strolls over, with a faked sincere smile plastered on his face. He sticks out his hand.

"Howdy there, newcomer. What's your name?"

Max accepts his hand and shakes it. "My name is Max. And you are?" She gives him a warm smile back glad to have a friendly neighbor at the campground. Although she noticed something a little off about him she couldn't place it.

"My name's Mark," lied Leo.

"It's real pretty out here, ain't it?", he asks while nodding a little.

"nice to meet you mark" She looks around at the surroundings "yea, it is beautiful. Nature is great. I love the smell of it the most."

He nods in agreement while wearing the corniest smile imaginable.

"Well, I was just cooking some dinner. Want to stop by?"

The smell of the recently cooked veal near the campfire rolled over the both of them.

Max nods "sure, why not. I am hungry. It's kind of you to offer" She looks at his smile a little off put by it and turns her attention back to the wilderness. She decided to go with him, she was hungry and it would take a while for her to cook it herself.

Leo walked with her to the campfire, and offers her a portion of the veal steak, along with a fork and knife.

"How is it?" He politely prods, toning down the smile to make it more believable. If he played his cards right, soon this entire camp would be eating out of the palm of his hand.

Max takes the plate and sits down by the fire. She places the plate in her lap and cuts off a piece of meat. "it's really good" She cuts the meat into small pieces before continuing to eat it. "thanks for this, it would have been a while before I could make myself some food. I appreciate this."

Leo waves his hand.

"Aw, shucks, it was my pleasure."

He couldn't believe these people thought that anybody could speak like this in real life.

Max looked up at him from her plate "the way you talk is different, is it a southern country thing? I don't mean to sound rude." She continues eating her meat

"Well, I don't notice it too much, but I am from Austin, so maybe I do speak a little funny...", replied Leo. He made sure to slur his t's, pronounce Ah instead of I, a aim instead of am, etc(btw he had been doing this the whole time, I'm just now describing what it sounded like.)

Max nods accepting this information "do you have any water?" She looks down at her empty plate and places her silverware on top of it "and a napkin would be nice"

He hands her a water canteen.

"As for the napkin, I'm afraid I didn't think to bring any. Sorry if that's an inconvenience."

Leo leans back and stretches his arms, then lies down, looking up at the stars.

Max takes a sip of water and looks down at him "it's alright" She places her plate on the ground and follows his gaze to the stars. "it's amazing how different the sky looks without light pollution."

"Yeah, you can actually see them out here."

He turns to her

"Ain't they pretty?"

Max smiles "extremely" She joins him on the ground and continues to look at the sky

Leo inches a little closer.

"Infinitely more so when you have somebody to appreciate them with."

All was going according to plan.

Leo faked a yawn and put his arm around her shoulder.

This would make or brake his convoluted plot to gain control of the camp; if it failed, he would likely get killed by the other campers a moment after he began his plan.

Oh s***. Well, that meant his whole plan was going to blow up in his face, likely killing most of the campers. But if Leo left, even more would die, including him the second the police found out.

"Oh. S-Sorry.", he stammers as he pulls his arm back. S*** was about to go down at the campsite.

Max sits up and adjusts herself "were you flirting with me?" She thinks about the conversation with him trying to figure out where she missed the signs.
