Shinku's POV
Location : School Library
Featured : CasualTea CasualTea

Shinku was slightly relieved when she heard the Librarian. She assumed she could just leave it there at the counter. Shinku tried separating it into two stacks in order to prevent the stack from toppling over.

After she did that, Shinku went into the corner and looked for the book on Dangerous Abilities she saw the other day.

Lily watched Shub retrieve a book, nodding. “I’m good with anywhere,” she said, “you probably know this place a little better than I do,” she admitted, as this had been the first time she had been in here. She looked at the book. She looked back up at Shub, only managing to nod again, looking around the library.
Shub looked around for a spot and went to a table that was nearby a window, the perfect place for natural light to shine through. She motioned Lily over and opened one of the books.

When Virgil got the books, he immediately started to scan them to mark them as returned. Once they were registered, he the took the books to their shelves and placed the books neatly among the others.

Shub looked around for a spot and went to a table that was nearby a window, the perfect place for natural light to shine through. She motioned Lily over and opened one of the books.

Lily followed Shub over to the table, pushing a chair to the side so she could sit down next to her. She looked at the book, trying to read over her shoulder. She saw that others were in the library, but she didn’t think anything of it, she wasn’t doing anything bad after all, so what did she have to fear?

Shub moved the book in front of Lily since, it was her ability, not Shub's. So looking at this information would mean nothing for her. No benefit. Shub just rested in the chair and closed her eyes. "It's been awhile since I could have a chat with a human. Virgil doesn't count, since I always see him."

Lily flipped through the book, just kind of reading over it. She wasn't really looking too deeply into it, she didn't like heavily analyzing books. Instead, she just kind of enjoyed it. She could go through it a second time and figure out the deeper stuff later. She heard Shub's voice and looked up. "Why's that?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. She looked back down at the book again while she waited for Shub's answer.

"Well, how often do you find it normal for a human to communicate with a spirit like this? Especially when they come from some cursed book, full of other spirits. Specifically, evil spirits? Any human would avoid that sort of contact." She explained as she just sank into her chair. She was obviously too relaxed, as if that book barely had any breathing room or anything. She was really just hanging loose. She closed her eyes and let out an exhale. She then opened them again and looked at Lily. "Find what you were looking for~?"

"I don't think you're that bad," Lily said, tilting her head. She was still innocent, despite the video that was shown to her. She looked at the book again. "I might check this out," she admitted, closing it. "I found enough," she said. It was a little vague, but that was fine, she didn't really understand her power anyways, this just got her closer to it. She placed the book in her lap, next to her notebook, looking at Shub and smiling.

Shub smiled back and shrugged. "I see." She said thinking that Lily wasn't that kind of student. She thought of her as a nose to the grindstone type, but she wasn't really. She then stretched her arms a little bit, her legs doing so as well. She thought about Lily's statement saying that she wasn't that bad. She'd show her true self, but she didn't want to shatter Lily's innocence yet. In fact, she'd like to let her elaborate on what she said. Just to make herself feel a bit more good. "When you said I wasn't that bad, what did you mean?"

Lily nodded, turning her book over in her hands. It was a habit of hers. She heard Shub’s question and paused for a second. “Well, you helped me find some books, and you offered to wipe my memory of the video.” She said. “You didn’t have to do any of that, but you still did!” She finished, smiling. Lily could maybe be described as too trusting, but she hadn’t been backstabbed before, so she barely knew that was a thing.

Eva almost started to chant when the librarian on the other side of the room let out a loud laugh. Her heart must have stopped for a good few beats. She always got jumpy when she was doing something untoward.

She watched Lily and her friend move over to a new table. She peered over her jacket at them, eyes narrowed in concentration. Didn't look like they were coming her way. And possibly still out of earshot.

"Vino infernum, transubstantiatio!" Eva hissed. The blood started to boil soundlessly, writing like a thing alive. Black smoke rose from the small red pool, rising into the air. Then, most unnaturally, the smoke condensed into a solid, shimmering mass. It hung in the air for a moment, then descended gently back down onto the table.

Eva could now hear a small pick, pick, pick sound. The ritual had worked.

The small mass of liquid smoke burst like a bubble. Out popped a creature no larger than a coffee cup. It had the face of a goat, but the body of a human baby, purple and chubby. A short, pointed tail whipped idly back and forth. It did not look entirely solid, as if it was not truly here and but a trick of the eye. The creature stretched its arms languidly.

"My goodness Qillatu! You are just so tiny and cute I could eat you up!" Eva gushed, as loudly as she dared.

Qillatu pointed a tiny finger at her. "Silence mortal! You dare..." he blustered.

Eva cut him off. "Shh! This is a library. Keep it down." She put a finger to her cheek, exaggerating a look of being deep in thought. "Is it because the summoning circle is so small? It is, isn't it?"

Shinku's POV
Location : School Library

Shinku looked through the Technical Abilities record book. She found out there were many interesting abilities as well. Abilities of cooking food with mysterious effects, abilities to build structures that came to life, and more.

Shinku also found out that people before her have had similar abilities like hers. People could write songs that became reality, some can predict and draw out the future by listening or playing music, others can even play music that can manipulate one's emotions and luck.

Shinku found a page with some of the musical pieces composed by the former students. She wrote them down on her notebook and plan to practice later. Shinku didn't want to go on her next mission unprepared.

Arlo exited his classrooom and yawned. Afternoon classes always tired him out. It didn't help that he already knew the stuff they were teaching as his parents had schooled him in preparation. He looked around the hallways for anyone he recognized, and since he couldn't find anyone he looked down at his map. He wanted to find if there was a place where he could train his reaction speed like a ball court pr something. Not finding any place like a gym, he decided to go to the Library to check out some books, because if he's going to have this much free time, he might as well read.

Arlo looked down at the map and walked through the twisting hallways to eventually find his way to the library. He entered and inhaled, breathing in the smells of old parchment mixed with newly printed paper. It gave off sort of a home vibe. He looked around the library and soon saw Lily sitting at one of the tables with another girl. Arlo called out to Lily and waved while walking towards them. He was excited to have luckily found someone he knew in the twisting of of the school. He soon came to the table and sat down across from Lily.

"Watcha reading?" He asked, looking at the cover of the book.

Shub giggled and looked down a bit, and smiled. Lily was too nice. She was then caught by surprise when she felt someone come close to them unexpectedly. "Oh..?" Was the only expression she could muster out. She looked at Arlo who was coming over to them and asked what they were reading. Shub just simply answered with a smile. "She was reading some stuff related to her ability. I was just helping her." Shub said. "A-And this is a library. You should be a little bit more quiet. The librarian might come over, you know?" Shub said quietly with a giggle.

Lily’s smile only grew when she heard Shub’s giggle. She looked over at Arlo with a bit of surprise, but nodded when Shub gave an explanation. She looked over at Shub again. She seemed a little more giggilish now, not that there was a problem with that, Lily was just a little surprised. “What brings you here?” She asked Arlo, tilting her head.

Arlo smiled and said a bit quieter. "Well, I was going to find some books to catch up on some reading or learn more about some abilities but now that you're here I could actually use your help."

He waited patiently for Lily to inquire what he meant, and as he waited he looked at Shub, trying to figure put what she was. It wasn't uncommon for people to have abilities that changed their appearance, but he thought that Shub seemed to be the exception.

Shub could tell that Arlo had some sort of interest in her, only in a curious way of the usual game she played with the humans. Could they guess what she was? She just offered a smile as she watched the two converse.

"F*** class!" Victor said turning into mist and he wanted to do some research on The Demon King himself. He decided to go to the library. He manifested in front of the librarian. "I need a book on demonology. Were would I find that?" His slur wasn't as bad as usual so hopefully they could understand him. Then he lit another cig and waited for a response.

Lily nodded, but she paused with confusion. “What do you need?” She asked, looking at Arlo. She saw him looking at Shub and opened her mouth, as if to say something. Nothing came out. Instead, she just waited for Arlo to explain himself. It probably wasn’t anything severe, that’s what Lily was hoping.

Arlo looked at Lily and said "Well, I was wondering if you could create a person who could maybe help me train, or at least something to throw at me like a knife or something. If you can't do that it's fine and if you just want to hang out with your friend here that is also fine. I just wanted to get some training in and I can't find somewhere to do that."

Virgil looked up and heard Victor's question. He pointed to one of the shelves and spoke. "Check the higher shelves and it's probably all the way at the end of the aisle." He said before going back to work on his computer.

Shub looked between the two and shrugged. "Well, if you need someone to throw knives at you, I suppose I could do that. And I could still hang out with you two. You get training done, we'll still have our circle of three. Seems like a win-win, doesn't it?" Shub offered with a smile. Of course, she'd probably have to get permission from Virgil, but most likely she'll get to go help Arlo train. She didn't seem to be malicious after all so it should be alright. Right?

"Now shut up and listen. I don't have a lot of time. I wish to strike a bargain."

This calmed the demon down some. Once he realized that he stood to gain from this exchange, his entire demeanour shifted. He spoke again, his voice sensuous and worming into Eva's ears.

"We have already made a bargain, mortal. One for which you still have not paid."

"I'm working on it, ok? And fine. Don't think of it as a new deal. We're just modifying the old one." A distinction without a difference, but the demon seemed intrigued by the opening of negotiations nonetheless.

"What do you ask of me?"

Eva scouted the library again. Arlo had come since she last looked. She yet evaded notice.

"I want to augment your previous gifts. I don't just want to sense the feelings of other humans. I want to control them without resistance. Crush their minds." The demon seemed to grow excited by this.

"Ahhh you choose the way of the warrior! Good, good. This I can teach you. But it will cost you dearly."

Eva gave him a look. "I told you before, Qillatu. I'm not paying a damn thing myself. If that's your angle you can go back to the bottom of whatever pit you came from." Demons were naturally acquisitive, and the bluff worked as predicted. Qillatu talked a good game, but he was just as temptable as people were. He was only a minor demon. Bottom of the hierarchy and insignificant in the grand schemes of the demon lords. An offering of something from this world meant power for him. Which in turn could mean a lot to an ambitious social climber with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

"Perhapssss..." the demon wondered, wiggling his little fingers. "Someone else might pay the price? You take what I bid of you, and render it to me?"

"Now you're talking," Eva said, happy to encourage this train of thought. The demon seemed pleased, but then he shook his head.

"No. Payment first. I have incurred great debts on your behalf, mortal girl. No more gifts until I am indemnified."

Eva scowled. She had really counted on a sweetheart deal here, much like the one she had got to earn what powers she had now.

"Fine, whatever. What do you want?"

"That which is most precious to another," Qillatu said deviously.

Arlo turned to Shub and said, "That's a great idea. Let me just check out a book and I'll be right back."

Arlo turned and walked to Victor and said "Hello, I was looking for a book regarding the history of magic, do you know where I could find something like that?

He said thank you and turned back into mist and flew over to it and started grabbing books. After searching for a bit he found a book called "The Lost Demon's of History" and also found a dark magic book on control animals called "Alpha Status Through The Dark Arts". Seemed good since it held demons that were old and nobody knew actual just urban legends and control animals through dark arts. He then took the book over to the nearest open seat pulled out his flask and looked through it. He found things that sounded similar, but not exact. Until he found in the demon book called "The Story of The Black Death". It was the original story told by Dr.Peste. It seems that he missed out on some stuff. Dr.Peste is the Rat King so the rats will always follow him. The demon forces them and turns the rats into blood thirsty mutant rats. Similar to Dr.Peste's form before going full Demon King.

Victor then cracked into the dark arts book and didn't find anything until he found a little folded note. It said a shelf number and book number. He flew over to there and found the book called "The Forgotten Art's". There was a shit ton of things he never knew were possible with a animal. Mutations, regeneration of animals, and controlling hordes. That is where he found the art and story called "The False King". Not much info, but there was a section on how the created of this art most likely The Demon King it was said that The Original Demon of Rats and Diseases was beaten in a lute duel by the King and he was blessed with his powers. He then put a curse on his son to carry his soul throughout all boys in the family tree. Eventually The Original Demon had his soul eaten by The False King and gained immeasurable power. Then after "The Black Death" he was then defeated by mages who blew him up from the inside with the power of a neutron star exploding. His family tree deiced to focus on powering back up and take on hell itself. That's were the story ends.

Victor was taken out of his shock by a boy asking if he knew were a book was."I think I saw one. Here hold these and wait here." He gave the boy his cig and flask and turned into mist to take a quick a look for the book.

"Now shut up and listen. I don't have a lot of time. I wish to strike a bargain."

Shinku's POV

((I hope you don't mind me interfering.))

Shinku listened quietly on the other side of the book shelf. She didn't mean to eavesdrop on Eva's conversation with the strange being, but Shinku couldn't help but pick up a few lines. Eva had summoned a demon, assuming from what Shinku overheard. The words she had chanted were summoning phrases to open the pathways between the two realms.

Before her parents died when Shinku was four, she clearly remembered that her father had the ability to manipulate mystical beings. He and your mother had made you remember simple chants for summoning. Shinku's mother had the Telepathy ability, so Shinku couldn't exactly forget the things taught to her.

Shinku almost let out a gasp when Eva wanted to form a contract. Eva spun around once, but didn't seemed fazed by the sound. The demon wanted something from Eva in return of the gifts it would give. Shinku wanted nothing more than to stop the girl, but she remained silent. She wanted to hear more before interfering.

Last time Shinku knew of a contract, it cost her witch friend her life.
