Fantasy Tomorrow Never Comes (Zombie Apocalypse) [Always Accepting]

Entarriance said:
"... well."
Carter appeared to have gone solo in zipping downwards towards a building, considering mainly how none of the group was really that insistent on following. The lower they were to the ground, the more an Infected could smell them. That enough was common sense, at least to them. But somehow, the tension eased from Go's shoulders now that Carter appeared to have left. Breathing out a sigh, he turned around towards the rest of the group.

"... hey, who wants to play pentagonal chess? We have 5 people!"

He appeared a little more enthusiastic than before. Before his teammates could question, he dove towards his bag. Unzipping it, there was a very fan-like object with checkered pattern on it. "Unfolding" it, he spread it out to a 5 sided figure, before appearing to lock something on the bottom of the board. Chess was glaring at him, in this weird state of disbelief and shock, while Xi curiously moved over to help set up. Playing anything right now might relieve the tension, and cutting everyone's throats right now did not seem like the wise choice. Jeson looked towards Necro and pointed to the group, a reassuring smile on his face.

"Well, okay, friend, do you know how to play pentagonal chess? I can help show the basics if you don't, but don't worry, you'll always do better than Go."

He urged his friend to go along towards the group, Jeson following himself. There were different coloured rocks of various sizes and gradients, but it was enough to fit on the board at least. These were their "pieces", because finding chess pieces in an apocalypse is the least of their concerns right now. Chess, while heavily reluctant, merely stood glaring harshly at Go before being pulled by Xi to join the game. They were in a circle around the board, as Go eagerly set up his own pieces.

"I'm definitely going to win this time."

"..."

"What?"

"Did you seriously dunk out room for supplies to bring the multiplayer chess board?!"

Unlike Chess' serious questioning, Go grinned and gave a thumbs up. Xi sighed at the two of their bantering, before looking towards Necro. Hopefully, he won't use this as an opportunity to take one of them out. That anxious thought was always on the back of his head, that any moment now, Go might actually be dead instead of in a hostage situation. But he solemnly believed that they could recruit the kid, in contrast to their own leader's thoughts. Holding out one of the oxalis-induced drinks in a cup (that Jeson gathered from the cafe) towards Necro, Xi offered the drink to him in hopes of maybe easing some more tension between them.

"This has oxalis herb in it. It's like, a really good Vitamin-C boost that kind of tastes like Lemon Sparkling water, with less sparkle and lemon."

@KuroKami Ruler
Necro shook his head at Jeson. He himself barely got to play regular chess in his lifetime, let alone chess with 5 people. He didn't think this was a good time for this anyway. But, it would take his mind off things. He accepted the drink warily. Taking a few sips and passing it back. If it was somehow poisoned it wouldn't have that much an effect if he didn't drink a ton.

Carter looked around and smiled. "Damn, I'm good at this!" He was proud of his work. He slid into an office chair and kicked his feet up. "This is the life... Well, it would be without the death and zombies, but other than that, the life!" Looked into his bag and pulled out an IPod. He had a solar charger that he's been charging it with. He popped in some earbuds and hit play when he saw Bobby Caldwell. "I guess you've wondered where I've been..." He sang lightly while he put his jacket back on. He began to look around for supplies in the room until he found a file cabinet, what was inside scared the holy hell out of him. It was records on several people. He looked through until he found his brother's name (his older brother) but no info was there. He shrugged and pulled out Kyle's. The only thing there was when he had died... Carter realized that he was being watched and slowly turned around. A man dressed in all black had a hatchet in his hand, and threw it at Carter. He ducked and opened fire. He didn't doubt that his barricade would work. He shot at the man's weapon, which he hit and knocked it to the ground. He charged at the man, but got caught with a whip if the man's pistol. The man turned to Carter's friends and walked toward the window. "You know these people?" The familiar voice said. Carter was in disbelief. "I thought you were dead!" Carter yelled. The man grabbed his chin and stared into his soul. "DEAD!? How dare you? You ignorant little bitch!" The man picked Carter up and lifted Him over the horde. "You wouldn't..." Carter shouted. The man sighed, he was right. Before Carter could get down though, the man threw him into a wall. Carter pushed himself to his feet and pulled out his pistol. "... But I never said that I wouldn't!" Carter shot the man, sending him falling into the horde. @KuroKami Ruler @Entarriance

Staggering along the street, Tim had finally awoken from his coma. His stomach was still churning but he was alive. All he wanted now was some medicine for his stomach.

*Blaaaach*

The boy puked out his candy on the sidewalk. It was the colors of a rainbow.

"Maybe I'll just let a zombie eat me," the boy said.

Tim Blank sluggishly search for a pharmacy.

Timmy stared at the stomach pain medicine in the girl's hand. He hesitantly took the bottle. He accidental grazed his fingers over her palm while taking the medicine. It was soft and smooth. Exactly the opposite of the undead.

"Thank you?" he said, accidentally phrasing it like a question.

At first with it passed back, Xi appeared awfully confused. Who the heck just takes a few sips of water and just, gives it back? Especially in the apocalypse? It didn't seem to reach his conclusion that Necro was very weary of poisoning, and he brought it back towards his mouth and drank a little. It was always herbal drinks like this that eased his nerves, even for a little bit. Jeson patted Necro on the shoulder. The kid hasn't played chess before, which was a bit of a surprise for him. Usually, most children played checker or chess in their lifetime, somewhere. It was a bit of a hypocritical thought of his, considering how he didn't learn how to play himself until he joined the Syndicate.

"Hmm, that's alright! Here, we can probably team up, and I can show you the basics of it. Don't worry, you'll always beat Go."

"You aren't gonna determine that, Jessie."

"Sure."

"If you've played checkers before, that's a good start!"

While Xi and Go were adding bits to the conversation, making it (hopefully) a little more livelier than the dreaded atmosphere, Chess had their hands stuffed in their pockets, looking around their environment. They heard the ocassional groan from underneath them, as well as the shuffling of moving cars and other things. The horde was directly below them, and if they started screaming or if anyone were to fall off, surely it'd be their doom. Of course, the latter is more of immediate death with the few seconds before the sudden stop. They could stay up here possible for the night, from the sounds of it, they seemed to have overestimated the horde's size. Chess didn't move from the spot they sat at near the board, since moving to look off the edge could immediately drop their guard, as well as probably tense up the gradually relaxing atmosphere. They didn't even know the kid's name, age, or history. Not even his skills, they got that demonstrated after nearly losing Go. Bringing their gaze to Go, he still had a bandaid tightly wrapped around his neck and his shoulder. He seemed to be in a playful banter among the other two, who appeared to be shifting in explanation.

"Well, each player has 15-"
"16" "16 pieces, a king, queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, and 8 pawns."

"You're supposed to checkmate-"
"-which means to capture!!" "... you're supposed to checkmate the other team's king, so the king is in a position, check, and can't escape from capture."

"You set up the game kinda like this-"

They both appeared to be having some fun explaining, interjecting with each other either corrections or shorter stems of explanations as Go helped the set up, aligning different coloured / different marked rocks on different squares.

"And the pieces move in certain ways. The King is the most important, but the weakest. They can move up, down, to the sides, and diagonal."

"Queens are the most powerful! They move the same way, but they can move as far as they want in any direction.."

...should they be allowed to be this relaxed? was what Chess thought. Honestly, Chess had no reason to be as anxious as they were. They grew up with such paranoia of the outside world, it pretty much became part of their personality. They weren't audible about it, but they definitely had numerous of events playing through their head, most being the worst case scenario through such trivial events.

Tim watched in awe as the girl made strange gestures with her hands.

'What does it mean?' the boy thought.

As the boy swallowed the medicine, he went into the deep recesses of his mind, all the way back when he was studying under Professor Gilbert. One of the professor's music friends could not speak but communicated through sign language.

"Oh! I get it! Your dumb! ...I mean- you can't talk... uh- that term- sorry I'm drawing a blank here. Give me a moment."

The boy shuffled his feet to help him think of the word. He was embarrassed that he called the stranger dumb. Timmy hummed a tune he learned that always helped him recall things he forgot about in the old world, when zombies did not exist.

"Mmmmmm... mmmm... um... Newt! That's it! You're a newt, right?

Timmy smiled triumphantly not realizing the word was actually mute.

Necro clapped his hand over (green kid's) mouth and shook his head, pointing down at the horde . They were being much too loud. He picked looked at each of them. He knew how to play chess. Who didn't? he was confused on the fact that there were five different people apparently going to be playing at one time. He picked up the pawn nearest him and moved it two spaces forward, the other guys still going at it. Slumping his head into his hand, he sighed. This was gonna be horrible.

Lexi had calmed down, and Elizabeth had gotten what little medicine they could find. Once they were set, they left, walking back in the direction they came from. As they walked, they noticed how little noise there was. They walked and walked, until Lexi spotted the distant shadows of a horde. "You gotta be kidding me!" Elizabeth whispered harshly. Lexi rolled her eyes, pulling up the mask. Elizabeth lead Lexi to the back door of a small shop where she use to work. Opening the door that lead to the kitchen, she entered, Lexi after her, and then she closed it, shoving a chair under the handles. "Geez, it smells like coffee and bad breakfast!" Lexi said with a cocked eyebrow. "It's a reading coffee shop! It's gonna smell like that."

"You have a notebook? I've got one too. It's for drawing pictures. What did you write there?"

Tim read the sentence.

"Jinx? That's a great name. It rhymes with minks."

"I once met a girl named Jinx

And she said "I like minks."

She went around

The zombie town

While shooting every undead down

I once met a girl named Jinx."

After finishing his song, Tim was glad she couldn't here it. He realized how terrible it sounded. The boy took his own notebook out and wrote:

'My name is Timmy. Forget about the D word. I meant to say newt."

jinx write down "since u dont know any about hand language ill just write here" she show him with a smile as she listen to what he sang and write "i can hear u ... u sing nice" she said with a giggle as she nodded about the dumb word.

"Oh a--hmpgh?!"

A hand clasping over his mouth, it was immediately brought back. That was probably the silent-sign for "shut up?", and he'd awkwardly laugh (quietly laugh
hoho heehee) and scratch his head. Oh. The kid did know how to play chess. Just not the way that they played. It appeared that he made the first move, and after that, the game officially "started".

Now, much different to one's expectations of this group, everyone went
dead silent. So quiet, that breathing a little too loud seemed like a disruption. Instead, they appeared to be speaking through their facial expressions. Glaring at one another, raising an eyebrow after certain moves, frustration knitting their brows together. They took these games pretty seriously, especially on Friday nights where none of them were really, busy. And what's a way to spend Friday nights playing in dead silence until the end of the game, where the winner is victorious/does absolutely nothing, or complain about their lost. Well, someone does.

Go, made extremely hasty moves. In fact, while his style can be applauded for style at least (usually creative-movements, very unpredictable, has plenty of opportunities he doesn't see), the fact that he loses almost immediately and can put his pieces into instant lose situations was, pretty admirable. He always lost every game, with the fact his king was often put into an easy position to checkmate. N0 matter what your skill was, you're always winning against this guy.

Jeson was, adequate. It's more of a strong-start that gradually dies out,
particularly because he is quick to take risks. Sometimes they do prove him well, with his good sense of prediction, though those risky moves easily cost him the game as well. Playing on pretty much his own luck and ability to predict other moves, he never got way too far with the game. Sometimes he hit second, but he never lasted long enough.

Xi and Chess, well, they appeared extremely profiecient with the game, as if it was the only thing that they've ever played. The first thing the both of them do is set up control over the center of the board (or whoever can do it first) so that the other couldn't even land a few places in. It wasn't that surprising, with their nickname being Chess, that they were phenomenal at the game.

It was obvious that unlike the patience of Jeson and Xi (and the absolute sheer indifference of Chess other than a few glares), Go was easily frustrated. angrily averting his gaze or roughly messing up his own hair. It was amusing itself just to watch their expressions as they played, with someone's gaze
occasionally lifting from the board to another's face in confusion, or a victorious grin after encountering an en passe.

Who knew they were capable of being quiet?

"Well, go on ju- aw sh*t!" Elizabeth started as she knocked over a frying pan. Lexi chuckled, then sighed. "Didn't you say there was like an upstairs or something?" She asked. Elizabeth thought for a moment, "Yeah... there a storage room and a small bedroom up there," She said, before walking out of the kitchen. They both listened carefully and walked up the creaky stair case. They found nothing up there and Elizabeth gave a happy woop. Lexi however, took a silencer from her bag and attachmented it to the end of her rifle. She wanted to take a few of the zombies from the horde out, while Elizabeth searched the rooms for anything useful.

"Put this on and squeeze the blood into your hair."

Tim didn't think how disgusting and unsanitary this would be for a stranger. It was commonsense to him.
