Fantasy Titans of the Lost World

With her help not apparently being needed with how easily she was brushed off, Eira silently backed off feeling worse now; especially after hearing about the situation they were in. She didn't know holy magic or magic to get rid of whatever this dark magic was, so now she was even more useless. Great. Climbing back on her horse, Eira looked solem, biting the inside of her cheek and basically just sat there while Avery, Ashlynn and the other Black Seraphs all discussed what to do. I guess I'm only useful for my ice magic...if I can even stomach to courage to do anything, she thought to herself, now beginning to wonder if she was really cut out to be a part of a team. After all, she had been alone for so long....maybe she wasn't ready yet? Eira shook her head at herself. No, you can't doubt yourself now! It was just one mistake. Next time I'll be sure to help for sure, She told herself, petting her mount as it helped her relax and calm down.

The Black Seraph was telling him about what Kai did to that Private, making the fear the Private felt with the Smortle likely a lot worse. To Avery, that detracted from soldier readiness, affecting the readiness of the unit. This made him an insider threat.

Avery caught sight of Kai giggling and it dawned on him that he never assessed Kai's abilities, yet here he was, paperwork and all, not only being useless but being cocky about being so useless. He was deliberate about no helping. He had a brass pair on him, and Avery knew up front that Kai wasn't gonna be useful to the group. Even if he possessed a lot of power, so did Eira, demonstrably so with none of the complications and cocky attitude. Avery could drag him all up and down Ishrion with ease, (doubly so if magic was brought back since Avery would have access to his Anti-Magic again) but the higher sense of worth Kai held about him told Avery that he probably fought a bunch of grunts and probably couldn't defeat this Smortle, yet thought he was hot shit and this was below him, that the Titan was the only thing worth using energy on and everything else was for him to throw everyone else into. He probably had some malicious intent and lived for revenge or some impossible task like the pursuit of power.

He couldn't work as a team, and that was easily the most important thing to Avery. Hell, the most important thing in this mission. Not a single person on the planet could beat a Titan alone, nor a single Otherworldly God. If he couldn't be trusted, he couldn't be with this convoy. Period. The word of Avery's subordinates actually mattered to him. If he wasn't willing to bust his ass with everyone else, sacrifice some resources, energy and time like everyone else in the convoy, he was done in the mission. If he wanted to sit in the back while everyone else charged, like he was a 5-star general or some shit, he could do so in his dreams.

He approached Kai, sparing not a single moment of kindness or respect for someone who disrespected him. Kai couldn't see Avery's face due to his helmet, but the tonality of his words gave him all the clues he needed to take am educated guess at how his expression was. Avery knew these words would go in one ear and out the other, but Kai didn't need to care. Avery never bluffed, so he was just about to tell Kai what was going on. "Listen up. I don't know what your problem is, nor do I care. I don't have time for parasites. Either you shape up or you leave. We're not here to babysit you while you relax until you feel like moving your ass. That luxury goes to Ashlynn and Ashlynn alone. Consider this your second and last warning. I'll boot your ass out of here. Heed the warning or not. That's on you."

Kai Takeshi
Kai looked at Avery and smirked under his hood again. "And so what of it?" Kai knew he was strong, but not as fast as Kai and there was no point of having strength if you can't catch your opponent. Kai took his hood off as his blue eyes shined bright he didn't really care to much of Avery's response. He gave off the same emotionless face. "Is there a problem." Kai chuckled to himself once more. "Baby sit? I am doing my own. If the beast were to get more savage I would've took my own, but I don't have to waste my breathe with the weak." Kai said walking back over to his horse he took Avery's warning. "Leave?" Kai laughed louder with a rather sinister vibe. Kai didn't care to argue back with the man as he wasn't really caring to response.

After confirming the escape of the Smortle, Esther returned to the convoy only to see a fight between the demon and General Avery, he doesn't have anything to do with it and just sighed as he return to his position at the back "That was a waste of meat..." he muttered, he only saw the Smortle as food, if the den is near, they might catch one or two in the least, but wasting resources just to get food is also out of the question.

Hananya Thirío
Hananya, suddenly smelling something that made her jump upright. "Avery I think it's a-" She was cut off by a deafening roar as a Smortle tore through the forest into their view, tackling Avery to the ground. Hananya gasped and her eyes widened. She had heard of this thing before! As Ashlynne described it, Hananya looked back to the creature. What was she supposed to do? It had Dark Magic emanating from it... but it was still flesh. With a roar, Hananya grabbed her sword from its holder and charged at the creature. She could see it was trying to bite Avery so took aim at its face, slashing the creature across its neck. It made the creature yowl so she lashed at it again, but it was still hellbent on attacking Sir Avery. Giving up with the sword, she threw it aside and tried to jump onto the back of the creature, digging in the claws on her feet and hands into it, but it had a thick hide. She tried to bite hard into its skin, but she did manage to draw blood. But before she could get worked up into a frenzy, she heard Avery shout and the beast was launched back, still with Hananya on it. The Kewan snarled and tried to keep her grip on the creature, still tearing at the back of its neck with her teeth.

As the creature seemed to realised it was outnumbered, it howled and took off into the woods. Hananya released her grip and tumbled to the grass. She watched the creature as it retreated. She huffed heavily and licked the blood from her snout. She hadn't done much to it, but at least she attempted to bring it down. Despite her size and strength, it was still much bigger than her after all.

The sound of Avery's angry voice caught the Kewan's attention. She turned around to see him berating the others for "not helping." Hananya's expression grew dark. NOT HELPING!? She looked at the younger girl Eira who seemed really upset at his words. She had seen her take aim with her arrow but simply could not fire it. Not to mention given by how everyone froze, they hadn't heard of the fecking thing before! Not able to stop herself, Hananya emerged from the bushes and walked towards the group.

"That's enough!" She snapped at Avery, despite knowing she could be punished for this, "They feel shite enough, don't need ya to bring 'em down lower!" She added before heading back to Zaynep. All of Avery's talk of "ego" and "selfishness" was getting to her. "Some have never seen a fecking Smortle! Ever thought of that?! Have a little fecking respect! Ya never told 'em about what was out here! How the fuck were they supposed to know!?" She snapped before looking at the girl as she attempted to appease Avery by offering medical supplies. "Ignore him." She growled lowly, only to her "Leader of a guild and already letting it get to his head. You'll be fine." she added before getting back on Zaynep. The Tigress flicked her ears and huffed. (He'll kill you for that.) she sighed, sounding more amused than annoyed. (Don't care. I'm not doing this for him anyway.) she looked at the man as he then berated Kai for sniggering. She wanted to say something again but held her tongue. She was sick of his crap but knew there was nothing she could do. Others had seen how she attacked the beast, they were looking at her as if expecting her to attack Avery too.

Once it had died down, she turned to Kai. She heard him ask for her name but was too wound up to give him a response. His tone was cold but she figured, she knew his name so she might as well tell him hers. "Hananya Thirío" she answered gruffly. She was still in a bad mood, and one that would not go away for a while.

"Look at my arm." He held up his bleeding arm. "Does this look like the arm of someone who's seen that thing before?" Absolutely not. Not even in the Bestiary was a Smortle registered. "Every single person out here signed up for taking down Titans, giant ass beasts made by the Ancient Gods. Each one ALONE can destroy this earth. WHAT IN THE BLUE HELL DID YOU THINK WE WERE GONNA BE FIGHTING?!"

"I don't give a damn what you do and don't want to waste. I don't want to waste my time dealing with immaturity, yet here we are. Keep sitting on your ass and you're done here. Fuck around with my men again and I'll destroy you." Avery said, pointing his sword at him. "Lone wolves will not stand in my convoy. Try me if you want." Avery wasn't the top knight for nothing. He had been in many wars, on many quests, and fought many foes. There was nothing Kai could do that Avery hadn't seen before, especially in the realm of Dark Magic.

He moved back up to the lead. This was addressing everyone out here. He was having to play a hard role. He HAD to lead this Campaign with people who had no idea what it was like in a warzone and had no experience being yelled at on a daily, yet expecting to just mentally get up and move right after. They were just slapped in with a bunch of people who were not only used to that, but LIVED for it. This was what Basic Training was for, but the King gave his orders and he had to follow. He had to waste time trying to address issues with people who never had to deal with a higher authority. "Every single one of us is traversing unknown human and non-human territory, dealing with Ancient Beasts and creatures never seen before, like this thing. We're going into foreign lands, and we all want to get home. Being reactive gets people killed. Standing by gets people killed. Caring more about people's feelings more than people's lives, Hananya, get people killed. If you don't care about the deaths of the people around you, this convoy is not for you, and you're not ready to be out here, and I need you to leave." This wasn't some dungeon crawler or some place where the dead could be revived. They were playing for keeps out here. Avery had been to many a war, as did more than half the convoy. Every soldier gave a great big Hoo-Ah, agreeing with him, pretty much leaving those that didn't agree by themselves morally. "This is literally only the first enemy. That's why I'm doing this now. I didn't really need help to get that thing off be, though it would've saved my shooting arm. The point is, later on when we're dealing with beasts that can kill a mass amount of us easily, standing by WILL get someone killed." Every single soldier out there understood that. The recruits? Not so much, but it was the raw truth.

"Now, let's keep moving. We can't leave until we kill it."

Ashlynn stood up and equipped her crossbow. She poured a liquid onto an arrow, loaded it, and fired into the bush where the Smortle ran into. "Tracking potion... Should lead us towards it... But no guarantee we will find it... " she said as a small path started to light up. "It is immune to poison... But not its side effects. It's only weakness's is it underbelly and the spaces between quills." she said as she looked up. "Seems this spell knows its strengths. Can't use the sun or moon to track it. We follow that we may get to its lair or where it stopped to heal itself."
She then walked over to Avery and handed him a healing potion. "It's only strong enough to heal the wound, but not the pain of it." she said as she put it in his hands. "one of the few I could actually make before we left."

"Well then how can you criticise them for not knowing what to do if you didn't...?" She snarled angrily. At this point she was completely fed up with this human. They all thought they were so high and mighty and could be as harsh as they want to each other. As Avery then spoke to the group, despite everything he said being directed completely at her, Hananya flashed her teeth at him. "Don't you dare tell me where my morals lie, human!" She snarled softly in a dangerous tone, "I'm not doing this for you." She added. She looked at the rest of the convoy. She did care. She did want to save lives. And this man had the gall to suggest she didn't?! "If I did not care about yer life, I would have done nothing..." She added, still licking blood from her chops. She didnt know when she was going to eat next, or if at all. She looked to where the beast had retreated and that Ashlynne had fired an arrow into its direction so they could track it. "...It's still bleeding. I can smell it." she frowned as she left Zaynep at the side and walked a little further into the woods, her nose in the air and sniffing around, hoping for anything that could give her an insight to what they were up against. Also she needed a moment alone to collect her thoughts.

Everyone didn't know about the Smortle, except the Corian and Esther himself except Esther's experience is with a different specie, while what the Corian Girl said is true, it's vulnerable to it's underbelly and at the side of it's quills if were talking about a battle excluding magic, but there is actually a third soft part which is also the riskiest to pinpoint, under the jaw of a Smortle is a soft small part, if stabbed, it's death is inevitable, but with his method, this requires precision, speed, and enough strength, a strong shield is very vital and a sharp weapon that can pierce through easily, now the problem is the horn, he might get stabbed with it. Esther seems a bit hesitant on the plan to kill it but, if everyone agrees then he might as well volunteer if it comes to fighting them. "So she's a Potion maker, that's convenient" he looked at the lighted path, if it's a den, he might have to get serious who knows if there is actually two or more Smortles staying in that den.

Also was annoyed of the fact Eira was constantly pushed to the side to be told that she did nothing rather everyone was told that, but the one thing that set Kai off that made him snap was the strike at his pride. Kai would kill this man, especially when he got his dark magic back without a doubt, no matter how much knowledge someone had on the magic his magic was different. It was unseen and told from many priest this was the first time of seeing it in many years. Only those who read books that were lost in time. Kai had a special selection on dark magic and not even the most experienced of knights would be able to handle it, and for a fact Kai knew that. He knew that in strength wise it would be pointless, but speed and outlasting Kai won the battle without a doubt. Kai's eyes turn red as he felt the Kewan's words. This wasn't for him nor did Kai need him leading him. Kai could do this on his own, the search for the darkness titan. What a leader this man was to sit up and cuss at his comrades. "I would kill you." Kai said before the man walked away. It was loud enough that the other soldiers looked at Kai with a worried expression as of why he was testing the leader. Kai then calm down once being announced of the Kewan's name. "Kai Kurosaki." Kai gave her a fake name for now he had to make sure he could trust her. Ashlynn probably got most credit because he treats her like his lover. This was like the main actor and his alleged wife in a play. Kai knew every soldier standing here had something unique about them. Ice Queen with her ice capabilities. The Kewan with her lethal strength and rather... savage like tactics. Kai could easily make a team out of the two. Kai walked over to the Kewan as he placed his hand on her shoulder. Once she turned her attention towards Kai he just shook his head to her. "No point." With that he walked back to his horse, the lone wolf his role anyway. He will go to that temple that Ashlynn lady was talking about. If he had to kill anyone there for answers, then so be it bodies were going to drop. Kai put his hood back on as he hoped on his horse. Petting his horse head Kai looked at the soldiers around him. "Don't let this discourage you."

Avery walked off, brushing off his empty threat with a wave of his hand and a chuckle. Kai would kill him? "Do it then.......or do you need your precious magic. That's nice to know." Avery also had a special selection of Dark Magic, one that was never disclosed to the public that he used. It made him a nightmare to anyone who had the displeasure of facing him with any method other than up-close mano-a-mano. Avery's assessment of his dependency on magic was purely speculation, but logical to him because Kai would've already done it if he thought he could kill Avery without it. If only he knew, Avery thought with a shake of his head.

When Kai got ready to leave, the soldiers wanted to hear nothing from him. They were purely on Avery's side, him being the leader who led them to victory and trained some of them by his own hand. "No one cares. Bye." An assassin told him. "Don't come back until you either learn some respect or want to die." Unlike most the other soldiers, the Black Seraphs were some of the most highly trained soldiers. They were equivalent to the Special Forces or the Navy SEALs in whatever path they chose. Black Seraph Assassins dwelled in a place no others could reach, a web of death, connections, and intellect that no others could get to. As with the Black Seraphs, who knew how many amongst them were Black Seraphs. The entire group, save about 2-3, just looked like normal soldiers. "We have better things to do than babysit children. If you think you're gonna find the Titan, good luck."

It maybe hadn't dawned on Kai yet because he hadn't tried to do anything crazy, but this quest didn't send just anyone. They sent as many of the best of the best and highest ranks as they could without compromising combat readiness in the Kingdom. He may have found a few that he could just mow down like Dynasty Warriors, but for the most part, he was outnumbered and definitely outmatched in physical skill, with Black Seraph Assassins effortlessly able to move at whatever speed Kai could and beyond. He was 19. They were far older and far more experienced in everything Kai could bring to the table. Dark Magic was a hell of a choice against a guild who specialized in it.

Avery started following the trail while laying out his plan. After draining the potion and his bite being healed, he began addressing the issue at hand. "Eira, you'll be vital to getting this Smortle down without casualty. Are you up to the task?" The plan required her to sit in wait while they lure it out, Avery serving as bait, then freeze either its feet or its fur to prevent it from launching quills or prevent it from moving. Either way, you disable one of those and the beast was done for. Eira was the only one capable of having them disable it without any sort of injury to anyone. Freeze it and then kill it before it had any chance to fire back with a Dark Spell. It was a fairly simple strategy, so there wasn't much to plan. Set a position, lure it out, kill it. "We're gonna go for its lair. That's the most likely place for it to heal itself."

The entire time the others argued and fought, Eira had silently shrunken back on her horse, gripping the reigns tightly but not pulling at them to make the horse uncomfortable. She was happy that Hananya was sticking up for the group as well as herself, but Eira still felt guilty about not doing much and being brushed aside. Then there was the whole situation about Kai. What was his deal? She got nothing but bad vibes from him that made goosebumps rise on the back of her neck. His stuck up personality with his ego didn't mix well with the dark aura he emitted -at least in Eiras opinion.

Anyway, when she was suddenly addressed by Sir Avery, she jolted, not having expected to be called; let alone suddenly being relied on for something important like this. "Y-yeah- uh..yes. I can do that," the nineteen year old stammered softly with a nod. "I do need a little bit of space around me just so I don't run the risk of accidentally freezing anyone else," Eira added after a moment. Whenever she had to freeze an animal or anything attacking her, the ice she used was thick, heavy, and extremely cold. Not dry ice cold, but still pretty cold. If she concentrated enough or was just angry, the ice could get cold enough to freeze through bone and have a limb be snapped in half. Or an entire body if the ice was aimed a certain way. But most of the time, it just left pretty bad frostbite and would freeze down into the first layer of tissue -which was why she needed space as to not have the skin and/or layer of muscle ripped off of someone's leg or foot.

Hananya Thirío
Hananya pinned her ears against her head, ignoring everything that was being said. She just wanted this thing to be dead so they could move from this and people could stop being at each other's throats. As she kept on the beast's trail, something caught her attention. Urine on the base of a tree. It smelled strong so it had to be from the creature. Hananya, knowing nobody was going to appreciate seeing her do this but not caring regardless, stooped low to the ground and took in several deep inhales to fully analyze the scent. This was no different to hunting down a deer, except a deer could not rip you to pieces. Once she had picked up everything she could, she looked to where it had gone before turning back to the group.

"It's an older female and it's recently given birth so its underbelly would still be weak." She said before wordlessly walking a little futher on in that direction, still sniffing about. She had heard what was being said about Kai. It made the Kewan roll her eyes, could they give it a rest? For someone who believed in justice and caring about lives, Avery seemed really intolerant of non-humans. Granted he did save her from those paladins but she figured that was just to save his image. She guessed her words would go un-noticed but she figured she should say something simply so she could not be accused of not being helpful.

"Since you're gonna be the only one in the clearing with the Smortle until it's frozen, if you hesitate, you may be mauled, probably to death before someone can come get it off. Are you sure you're up for it, because we can very well kill it without the ice." They'd just have some injury if not death before then. Avery didn't want her just saying this. He wanted her to either be all in or all out.

The entire clearing was a bit....excessive. As long as everyone was out of the way, she would be fine. Hearing Sir Avery's further explanation with subtle warning mixed in surprisingly didn't shake Eira up as much as it would someone who hasn't had her experiences before. There had been countless times where she had almost been mauled or even killed by a wild beast, so this wasn't anything new. Well, except for the people in the group still lingering about around her -but that was fine.

"Yes, I can do it," Eira replied after a minute of just making sure her voice didn't waver or crack in any way. Eira was already coming up with a plan, thinking of using her Seventh Sense spell to help in locating the Smortle and timing when she would attack. Of course she had also heard Hananyas commentary in the back which briefly through Eira off. If the creature had recently given birth, where were it's babies -or baby? How would they survive if they -no, when they killed the mother? Where wad the father? There were many questions casing through Eira mind now, biting her lower lip as she no longer wanted this creature to die....but she couldn't let anyone else get injured if she hesitated.

In the end, Eira chose to go through with freezing the Smortle down, but afterwards, she did want to know where it's babies were, if they were okay, or if they were even alive.

It seems a plan is settled, Esther is worried and remained vigilant for a second Smortle, or even a juvenile Smortle, the same thing he does before, Esther will cover the flank to avoid getting engaged from a disadvantageous scenario, if all else fails, the Longsword strapped on his back can do the trick. Esther won't be surprised if young Smortles might come charging, they are still enemies nonetheless and will kill them right away, if that Smortle just given birth, then he already estimated the strength of the male Smortle. Inside the sheathe of the Longsword, the gauge was half filled with an orange colored substance, which Esther calls as Fire Essence, this would be useful if he have to burn the whole lair down if it comes to the point where the root of the problem might become bigger.

(Calling it a female Smortle who just gave birth, I should make this more complicated with an even stronger male, but I won't. Next time though........I'll dig the hole deeper by closely monitoring every word you all write and making things harder based on it. That'll be fun)

"Given birth huh?" Avery said. "Then I feel bad for the kids. We wouldn't be doing this if it didn't trap us in here." Avery didn't want to fight this thing. If anything, this was just delaying their trip. It was standing in their way and they needed it dead to leave. "The only other option is to talk to it, but I doubt any of us can." That would mean Hananya, but this creature was sent by Seelia. It was NOT native to this country. It either spoke in an ancient beast tongue or it had the desire to kill them all no matter what.

"I'll keep soldiers and Goldilocks nearby, of course, ready to attack as soon as you freeze it. If we find it in its lair, I'm gonna act as bait and bring it out, haul ass to the clearing, then come up missing, leaving only you here on the other side from the entrance and everyone else hidden. You wait until it's in the middle, freeze it, and we end it." Plain and simple. Hard to complicate, not much to think about other than the task of freezing the Smortle itself.

"We'll go find the lair, then set up at the closest clearing. Hananya, If you can smell it, can you lead me to it? The Tracking Potion trail will end somewhere. This is just in case it ends before we find it. You're best suited for tracking the thing." Hananya was hostile to Avery, but he was far from afraid.......of anything. They were trapped here and needed to get out. Even if she wanted to leave, she was stuck here as well. Avery wasn't scared to ask her to use her abilities. It would only be a small group, with scouts away from them looking for it on their own in whatever path they didn't take. "New guy! The one who was late to getting on the horse, you're coming with. I need Ashlynn and Goldilocks to stay with Eira. All of you, keep your wits about you."

Hananya Thirío
Hananya kept very quiet, only responding to Avery with a blunt "Yes." as he asked her to track the creature. She smelled the urine again to catch the creature's scent and she raised her snout to sniff the air. Once she caught the scent, Hananya got down on all fours to follow it. She blocked out everything else that was going on around her. She had to focus on this, if she did not she would lose the scent. It was her primal instincts kicking in. Her mind was completely occupied by this task as she hunted this creature down. If she was going to fecking justify her place in this convoy (Again!) she had to do this. As much as she disliked humans, she did not want the convoy to suffer from this beast. She kept pretty silent as she went along, totally blanking out anything the group said.

Kai Takeshi
Kai shook his head at the weak fodder then he tried to talk to Eira sad man he was. Not caring to listen he rode off with his horse ahead of the group to get some information and hopefully find something that he was looking for. Kai was on a mission and he couldn't be stopped with people who think they were better. Kai knew what he was doing was wrong as they needed any help they could get but it didn't matter to Kai. Him being this way was a way to see who he really knew was realistic and who were fake. Kai's horse speed through the forest as it then stopped mid run. "What is wrong?" The horse screamed, jumping up on it's to legs to slam it's front feet to the ground. It was a sign of distress. Hopping of it's back Kai walked ahead of the horse to search what was stopping the horse from moving. Something gave even Kai the wrong feeling.

(Now this is the green light. You were warned)

Out of nowhere, Kai's magic, ALL OF IT, was completely and painfully ripped from his body. It would feel like something was trying to burst out of his body. Powerful anti magic was at work here to make a normally harmless but effective magic harmful

Fierce wood cracking could be heard and trees around Kai started to come to life. Treants. Seelia was gonna end this entire convoy in this forest and she wasn't pulling punches. The thing in question wasn't the treants, but MUCH worse

He'd have to drink a potion to get his mana back, but would he really want to risk it happening again? Did he really want to go try and find the thing?
(Still giving you the option to back out)

Sir Avery Valencia

The group of 3 were silent as Hananya got to work. Avery just kept his eyes and ears about him, not wanting to get ambushed again. He had his sword drawn and his guard up. Smortles, huh? He thought. Seelia must be creative with names. That thing was not from any country he's ever been to. It needed to die and soon. This was eating away at their time.

Well, looks like Esther won't be at the back forever, he followed Avery, "why am I also the bait?" he silently stated as they slowly arrived deeper in the woods, he finally unsheathes his rapier, this rapier is exclusively made for the hero as its materials are very rare and expensive, the other is hidden inside the buckler. "General, if the ice magic failed...what do we do?" he asked Avery, there is the possibility that the bait and freeze plan might end up in a failure, it doesn't mean that he doesn't trust Eira, he's just worried of the consequences.
