Futuristic Those That are Hunted

Manjano heard a loud bang nearby and sharply turned his head to see what had happened, but was instantly thrown to the ground as he cried out in pain and agony. His body was convulsing and he had no control over it, as pain overwhelmed his senses. Within ten seconds, he was motionless on the ground except for his breathing. His eyes were open still and he could see, but was unable to move his body. His heart was pounding in his chest, as he knew that this was the doing of the agents. Silently, he pleaded with anyone nearby to help him, but everyone had fled the scene the moment the gun had gone off.

"Target's down." the sniper said and removed his eye from the scope to look at the boy laying on the ground. As the agents heard that the sniper was taking his shot, they sped up and arrived at the scene just a minute or two after the boy was down. They got off and rushed to his side. The bender crouched down, put power restricting handcuffs on his wrist and only then turned him on his back. "Yeah, that's him alright." He stood back up and waved to the sniper in the apartment. "Nice job." he called out to him. Only moments later, an armored agent's vehicle showed up from behind a corner and the boy was carried in the back, driving off and straight to Texas HQ prison camp. There, he would be questioned and given the choice - freedom or chains.

Feeling the handcuffs on his wrists, Manjano inwardly smirked since he knew it'd take no time to get them off once he regained control of his body. Until then though, he was at the mercy of these agents. When he was rolled onto his back, Manjano widened his eyes when he recognized the bender kneeling beside him. He'd helped in hurting that shifter who'd been captured yesterday. Yet, Manjano was incapable of doing anything or saying anything since he was still paralyzed. Soon enough, he heard a truck drive up and then he was hefted up and carried to the back of what appeared to be an armored van. Not much longer, the doors were shutting on him while he was stuck paralyzed on the floor of the back of the armored van.

When the van drove off, the agents got back into their car and followed after it. The two snipers would be transported back to HQ with other vehicles. The van was moving rather fast through traffic, the other cars making way. When they arrived, the doors were opened and a group of agents and guards had surrounded the van, ready to escort him into the building. "Come along now."

Along the way, Manjano soon felt his muscles twitching, as feeling slowly came back to him and he could move again. Pushing himself up into a sitting positon, Manjano frowned and looked down at his wrists before he focused on his power and then lifted his wrists expecting them to phase right through the handcuffs. Instead, the handcuffs stayed on. Eyes widening at this, Manjano quickly jerked his hands to the side again, trying to use his gift again. What was wrong? He then scrambled to his feet when he heard the doors opening. Blinking in the light, Manjano frowned at the sight of the guards and what appeared to be agents in the mix as well. Deciding against fighting back for now and biding his time, Manjano slowly jumped down from the back of the van and then warily looked around himself at everyone that had him surrounded.

Just as the doors were opened, the two agents got out of their car and joined the guards and agents that were to escort him in. "Come on." the earth bender said calmly and began walking towards the large elevator that was going to take them into the building. They all entered, keeping the boy in the middle of it. But instead of going up, they were going underground. The interrogation rooms were located under the actual headquarters and then it depended on their choice if they were to be transported into the loop that was to take them to prison camp or back up to the surface. Once the doors opened they walked him into one of the rooms and mentioned him to take a seat on the one single chair that was in the room. There was a large one-way mirror and on the other side were the interrogators, as well as the two agents responsible for his capture. The group of guards and agents were guarding the entrance to the room.

Manjano followed the bender to the room and then after he was ushered in, he turned to say something, but the door had already shut in his face. Frowning at this, Manjano turned again to face the lone chair in the room. Knowing better than to get angry and throw the chair about, Manjano instead calmly walked up to the chair. He then tipped it onot its back, not flinching when it made a loud clanging sound upon crashing onto its back. Manjano then slowly walked around it, doing his best to spot any bugs or tricks. He didn't want to sit down and then get electrocuted. Satisfied, Manjano then picked the chair up again and faced it towards the mirror. It was the only part of the room that stood out to him. He'd been taken to police stations before and knew what an interrogation room looked like. He also knew that the mirror was in fact a two-way window, but that he simply couldn't see through it. Sitting down in the chair, Manjano then leaned forward with his arms on his knees. Looking up at the mirror, he then said evenly, "Ask the questions already."

"Clever boy." the interrogators stated as they saw the boy check the chair, without him hearing it. The two agents were already in the room with them, sitting in their own chairs behind the ones asking the questions. Once the boy was seated the face recognition software was run to bring up his file. "Good afternoon. Have you been treated well? Do you want something to eat, to drink?" the voice sounded through the room. It was mechanically modified so one wouldn't recognize it.

Manjano kept his facial expression neutral, as he replied sarcastically, "Oh yeah, it was so pleasant being shot and then paralyzed. You know, I love being randomly kidnapped off the street. Never been better."

Now frowning, Manjano then sat up in his chair and added, "I don't trust any food or water from you guys. I'd rather suffer than be poisoned by the likes of you."

He knew the way this worked. Good cop, bad cop routine and all. He just wanted to get out of this hellhole.

The gentlemen behind the glass ignored the boy's stubbornness. It was so common that they were long used to it. That's why they simply went to the more important questions. "Your name in Manjano, correct?" the monotone voice echoed in the seemingly empty room.

Manjano let out a small sigh and then said, "Yeah, that's my name." Narrowing his eyes at the mirror, Manjano wished he could use his gift currently so he could walk up to the mirror and then try to throat punch one of those interrogators. That'd really make him feel better.

"What do most people call you, Manjano?" the voice continued. They needed to lower the temperature and get the boy to give them sincere and honest answers, not to be guided by emotions. For the question that would follow needed him to think straight. It was also a typical test to see if the lie detectors were working properly.

Manjano rolled his eyes and said, "I wouldn't know. I was a street beggar, homeless." What kind of question was that? It was like the interrogator was trying to be his friend or something. It was weird and Manjano didn't like it.

"Wouldn't you want to finally have a permanent roof over your head, fresh meals every day and a warm bed?" the voice continued.

Manjano scoffed at this and then said, "And hunt down others like myself? People who are enjoying their lives until you butt in and force them to do what you want them to do?" His eyes narrowed and Manjano leaned forward in his chair before adding, "Hell no."

After a short pause the voice spoke up again. "Tell us, what is your understanding for the purpose of the interview with us today?"

Manjano was still for a moment, thinking it over. Thinking about it, Manjano only knew of the dragon shifter who'd been captured yesterday. She'd been trying to save him from being captured. From what he'd seen, even she hadn't stood a chance. Looking up at the mirror, Manjano asked, "Where's the female shifter you captured yesterday? The one who could change into a huge dragon and other animals." He wanted to know what had come of her. Had she been given an option?

"For how long have you known miss Piper?" the voice replied emotionless. All traces of emotion were eliminated by the system modifying their voices. Of course they knew who Piper was. The agency had been looking for her for a long time.

Manjano almost grinned at their question. He clearly had their attention now. He also wondered what she'd done to get so much attention from them. Answering their question, Manjano said calmly, "I've only known her for a few days." With her red hair, Piper had been easily noticed among the crowd by Manjano at his 'Houdini' street shows. Despite her never personally introducing herself, Manjano would always be in debt to Piper for her attempts to save him. Even if they hadn't worked in the end.

"How well did you know her? And how do you feel about her?" they asked. They needed to know a bit more about their relationship. And possibly use it as a leverage. "Did she tell you what she did for a living?"

Kytha looked at it and nodded before beginning her work. "C'mon c'mon.." She mumbled then finally heard a click. Then another, a third, and a small beep "We gotta go they have got to have heard us."

Manjano let out a small laugh and then said, "You're assuming we were friends or something. I just saw her around the city often." Manjano knew better than to say too much in an interrogation. Keep answers short and sweet. Don't give everything away at once.

Tucker nodded at Kytha, already beginning to feel his gift starting to flow again, coursing through his body and energizing him. He eagerly looked at Kytha and said in a rushed whisper, "Stab the damn thing, try to damage it as much as possible."

Xander furrowed his brows when he heard some clicking sound and asked Richter, "Are you messing around with something, like a conjured weapon of yours?"

"Why else would you risk your life to help her back then on that rooftop?" that was the bender talking, his voice now too modified. The interrogators let him ask this as they weren't really at the scene and didn't quite know what happened. However, they mentioned him to step back and let them ask further questions. "Did she tell you that she was also an assassin? You, with your gift, would have been a great asset to her."

Manjano was silent for a moment and then replied to the first question, "She was another gifted and she looked cornered. Naturally, I attempted to defend her." Hearing that Piper had been an assassin, Manjano was genuinely surprised. He blinked and then replied, "I had no idea she was an assassin." Deciding against commenting about him being an asset to Piper, Manjano waited for the next round of questions that were sure to follow.

"Well, unfortunately, you'll never see her again." A shifter with such abilities would probably not even given the choice of becoming an agent. She was too valuable for science for her life to be risked out in the field. Instead, she would be experimented on, multiple samples taken, attempts to clone her DNA would be made. And if they succeeded the government would probably try to create a literal army of dragons. "But you too have committed crimes, Mr. Sinciato. This is your name, isn't it?"
