Futuristic Those That are Hunted

"Well, once Amelie finds out about it we'll have a referee in no time, namely her." he laughed bitterly, already imagining Amelie unleashing her anger upon both of them. She would probably give zero damn about the winner. But then again, she might be in a good mood and let them fool around a bit.

Xander rolled his eyes at this and said, "I don't know about you, but I'd rather avoid Amelie's wrath. I've somehow managed to for a while now and I know she's got you on some kind of leash. I'd rather not be on one at all, personally." Smirking at Vulcan after saying this, Xander then added sarcastically, "I prefer to be a free man."

"A wolf on a leash still has his teeth and claws." he grinned widely, showing him his sharp canines. Unless of course that wolf had a muzzle on... "But yeah, we'll try avoiding her. At least at first... Speaking of the Devil. We should get going. Don't wanna make her wait for us, get suspicious and all."

Xander chuckled at Vulcan's response and then nearly had a mini heart attack when Vulcan said speak of the devil. He instantly looked down the hallway, expecting Amelie to be walking towards them with a furious look, but he instead saw nothing. Hearing the rest of Vulcan's statements, Xander realized he was just getting paranoid. Still, seeing such a fierce shapeshifter like Vulcan terrified of Amelie told Xander that he needed to tread lightly around her. Nodding at Vulcan's suggestion, Xander said, "Probably a good idea. Lead the way, wolfman." He was really just getting Vulcan to lead the way since he had no idea where the mess hall was. Hopefully Vulcan's sense of direction was good and he could hone in on Amelie or something.

Xander telling him to lead the way made him let out a quiet pfff, then walk down the hallway, down the stairs and out in the open. The weather was much better than in the night before - the ground was still somewhat wet with dew, the sun was showing behind some morning fog, however it would not be half as brightly or hot as it was in Texas - just the climate he liked. He was sensing his skin slightly itching, indicating that something was happening over there, namely that his fur was starting to grow. Not on his human self of course but if he was to shift one would clearly notice that he would be getting more fluffy by the day. He led them further, passing by the office and lab buildings and entering the huge mess hall, following the masses of people really. Once inside he wasn't too surprised to see how full it was. It looked kinda like a huge self-service restaurant so he simply lined up to all the people waiting for their turn. In the meantime he was looking out to spot Amelie and possibly avoid her, as much as it hurt his feelings doing so and if she knew, probably hers too.

Xander quietly followed Vulcan, smiling slightly when they went outside and Xander got a glimpse of the rising sun. At least the weather wasn't looking as bleak as it had looked yesterday. Following Vulcan again, as they headed back inside to a different building, Xander looked around to do his best in memorizing the route. He quickly took notice of the large amount of people all head to the mess hall though. There seemed to be some guards and GA here and there while there would also occasionally be a line of prisoners with guards around or near them. As they entered the mess hall, Xander practically pouted at the sight of the large line before him. It didn't seem like he'd be getting his food in a timely manner this morning. Grabbing a tray, Xander waited behind Vulcan, as the line slowly shifted forward every so often.

Vulcan couldn't notice Amelie and couldn't smell her either. His nose was simply overwhelmed by the many odors in the air - hundreds and probably even more people gathered in one place, food... When it was finally their turn he filled his tray with basically all that was meat and waited for Xander and Alpha as well before heading towards a rather free table. When they started to eat he was still keeping his senses sharp. If Amelie saw them she would surely not only accompany them but probably lead them to wherever they were originally supposed to go as well. Although she was right to focus on their task at hand one should have fun from time to time as well.

Xander filled his tray with a variety of foods, focusing on not getting any junk food considering what was to come soon after they ate. Eating lightly, Xander focused on eating a boiled egg or two along with a biscuit and drinking water, which was typically all he ever drank. If it was cold enough outside then he'd sometimes drink hot cocoa, but he still mostly just drank water. As he sat there eating quietly, Xander began to think over various methods of fighting he could implement in the upcoming fight.

Vulcan glanced at Xander's plate. The man knew what to eat before a battle - some proteins, carbohydrates and lots of water. Vulcan was too eating less than usual but enough to sate his biggest hunger. Seeing him think he gave him a small smirk. He was taught never to plan a fight out from the beginning. One never knew his opponent to the full and how he would act is a different situation. Impulsiveness and instincts, strike first and end the fight quickly - those were his bread and butter.

As Xander continued to eat, he wondered if he should implement his fire wolf in the fight. He hadn't had a whole lot of experience with such a companion at his side while fighting, but if he could control the wolf enough to keep it fighting at his side then he could use that to his advantage. It'd certainly help to have something distracting Vulcan while Xander tried more powerful attacks. Though, he'd have to keep his flames at their least dangerous level to avoid seriously injuring Vulcan. Amelie would never forgive Xander if he permanently burned off some of Vulcan's fur or hair...or his eyebrow or something. This thought made Xander smirk, as he tried to imagine Vulcan with one eyebrow missing.

(Yeah, but he still doesn't want to seriously injure Vulcan. Kicking his flames up just one notch already delivers second degree burns. Kicking them up another notch results in third degree burns. There's no nice medium with his flames and their dangers)

When they were done eating Vulcan stood up and left the building, hiding behind the nearest corner next to the entrance and leaning on the wall. It would probably be in their favor to stay out of the masses. He was just wondering if the half-hour thing was really necessary as it increased the risk of being found. "What do you wanna do then in the meantime?"

Xander followed after Vulcan once they were done eating and halted when Vulcan hid behind the nearest corner to the entrance. Standing diagonal from him, but away from the entrance, Xander did his best to look casual, which wasn't too hard since he never took anything serious anyhow. Hearing Vulcan's question, Xander shrugged and said, "Well, if you really want a ref then it probably wouldn't hurt to ask around or something."

"I don't insist on having a referee." he shrugged. "The fight is over when the opponent says so." Besides, he was too lazy to go around asking. But then it hit him. Trying to tire me out, mister, huh? He thought and glanced at him with a bit of a competitive look on his face.

Xander was crowd-watching while Vulcan responded and glanced back at him when he mentioned that the fight would be over when the opponent said so. Nodding at this, Xander said, "Sounds good to me." He then blinked as Vulcan looked at him with some intense expression. Raising an eyebrow at Vulcan, Xander asked him, "Are you trying to intimidate me or something?" He paused and then added, "Because you're utterly failing at the moment."

"Nah. Why do you get such an impression?" he cocked his head a little. Intimidation was a powerful strategy. If your opponent feared you, then you've already won the battle. Vulcan knew that those techniques wouldn't really work on the fire-bender and buddy. It mostly worked on people that didn't quite knew you and didn't know what to expect. It also mostly worked on people or gifted focusing on hand-to-hand or weapon combat. Why? Because maybe Vulcan was quite a large man with a quite mean face when he wanted to. Looking around from time to time and stretching helped the time pass faster. After a while Vulcan looked at his watch. Theoretically it was time. "Feeling alright?" he asked. He was feeling slightly nervous, which was a good thing. If he was too calm or too tense then the fight wasn't going to be in his favor at all.

(Now this may sound like a very douche move but do you wanna leave it for tomorrow. It's almost 5 am here! xD I have to be in college at 8:30...)

(No, that's perfectly fine. I completely understand since I'll be getting up for college tomorrow morning as well. xD )

Xander rolled his eyes at Vulcan's response and smirked at him before resolving to follow his suit in stretching. While he stretched, Xander's mind went over what animals he knew of and he wondered if it'd be a smart idea to try and recreate any of them while in the midst of the fight. Probably wouldn't be the best idea, but it could prove to be fun for him. Xander then mentally slapped himself, as he realized that he should probably take this fight more seriously. He'd already made it a point to Vulcan to not take it easy on him. Therefore, he was going to need pay attention to Vulcan's moves and hopefully learn his fighting style so he could try to either counterattack or dodge his blows. Hearing Vulcan's question, Xander kept a calm composure as he grinned and replied, "Never been better." Inside though, his heart was already beginning to speed up.

(Wow you all have early classes O.o mine are always in the afternoon or at night.)

Alpha was just happy to be able to tag along. She didn't have many friends back at HQ. Mainly because she was so young and the chief kept her out of site. She smiled and just skipped beside them. Entering the mess hall Alpha ran to go get a tray. She tapped her foot impatiently while she waited in line. Meeting Vulcan and Xander at the table, she only had a bowl of cereal. Alpha looked around for Amelie but she was no where in sight. Sighing, she dug in. When they where all done she followed the boy out. "Just try not to get too damaged. I may be able to heal tou but it doesn't mean I don't get worn out."

Amelie had never went to the mess hall. Instead she went to the front office. "I'm here to pick up the dog that was brought in." The woman at the desk looked through some paper work before handing Amelie a paper and clip board. "Sign on the dotted line." She did and handed it back the the woman. Hearing the footsteps behind her she turned and saw the dog that Kytha saved being brought to her. The man gave her the leash before walking off. "Alright buddy. Time to go see your mom." The dogs tail started to wag.

Entering the prisoners living quarters, it was half empty. "Oh yeah breakfast. Hopefully she is still here." ~They said she was on the second floor towards the end.~ Once on the second floor the dog took the lead eventually leading them to Kytha. "I have a present." Her voice was monotone.

(Holy crap guys xD 51 posts?! You guys need lives ^~^)

Kytha abrubptly woke up hearing a bell ring and a message call out. "Agh! Shut up. It's like 6am." She snarled before face planting on her bed and throwing her pillow over her head trying to muffle the noise.

Meanwhile, toron slowly woke up before chuckling at Kythas reaction. He slowly stood up being careful to save himself from a head-rush and walking over to Ky's bed before prodding her repeatedly "Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up? WAKE UP!" He practically screamed the last one since he tore the pillow from her head. "Goodness Toron! Calm yourself child." She said half asleep yet half playful. Feeling him begin pulling at her shirt she swung around and made a face before sittin up. He held out his hand and they linked wrists before he pulled her up. She grabbed a ponytail off her wrist and grabbed a small comb she was given in her care-package thing. She combed her hair out before putting it into a low-hanging ponytail and yawning sleepily. Toron on the other hand, just quickly combed his hair before sitting on his bed and watching Kytha. "C'mon Ky. We're gonna be late and get in big trouble." She just slum her head around glaring playfully, "So?" Then she looked around the room realizing her dragon was missing. "DAMMIT! He's gone!" She screamed before whistling loudly and high-pitched. Soon her little friend entered the room and she glared angrily. "Where the hell? Did I say you could leave? No! It's dangerous out there! You are to stay with me at all times ok?!" The dragon just slunk down and crawled up to her neck, curling around it softly. "Good." She said softly. Toron just watched before taking a step towards her. "Kay lets go. Before we do get in trouble." But he was interrupted by the sound of footsteps and froze. Kytha, hearing the same thing, also froze but her eyes widened when she saw Amelie leading Cody into the room. She began to tremble and half walked, half fell, towards the dog before Petting it roughly and whispering to it. She was soon followed by Toron who also began petting it and mumbling. Giving it a soft kiss on the head Kytha stood up looking at Amelie straight in the eyes. "Thank you, so much, but where am I supposed to keep him and what do I feed him with?" Her voice was dry, from exhaustion, lack of nutrition, (including water), and lack of sleep,

Vulcan nodded at that. "Alright. Let's go then." he said rather serious and shook his arms and legs out one last time before walking out in the open, stopping just a few meters away from the buildings. Still quite in a good sight and at the same time on a safe dictance from the trees and people, keeping their play-fight on a rather safe level. Vulcan was just hoping his suit would somewhat withstand the heat and shield him from the burns. His head however was completely unprotected so it was still slightly impractical. "Don't kill me, please." Death by fire was probably the most painful thing in the world. Burns in general. Your skin begins to melt, then the flames begin to literally roast you alive. On top of that the victim stays alive for most of the time, screaming like Hell on Earth. Vulcan had witnessed it for the first time when he was seven. It was a punishment for betraying the gang. Later in the years he had seen it a few more times - gruesome and dreadful every time, left you with nightmares for days to come. He shivered at the thought of that but his mind quickly returned to him to reality. He knew, or was at least hoping, that their relationship was good enough to not get killed. "Should we begin?" They were standing around an arm and a half length away from each other. Vulcan took his fighting stance, keeping his arms just below eye level, protecting his head, chin down, weight balanced on both feet, his predator yellow eyes following his every movement. He was just waiting for Xander to get ready as well. He would strike first and try to end the fight quickly before it got rough. He was hoping that they could avoid some serious injuries after all, even with Alpha around.

Xander let out a small sigh and then followed after Vulcan as he led the way outside and away from the buildings. Hearing Vulcan's comment about not killing him, Xander smirked and replied, "Where would the fun be in that?" In reality, Xander was going to use his least threatening flames, even though they could still be dangerous on their own. He was aiming to cripple or maim Vulcan and prevent him from doing too much damage to Xander himself. This would be a fight best done from a distance, so Xander was going to focus on staying out of Vulcan's reach. Hearing Vulcan's question of Xander's readiness, Xander nodded and took his own fighting stance. He instantly summoned some flames that engulfed his hands and then held them up similarly to how Vulcan had positioned himself. Xander's first move was that he started to take even steps backwards, hoping to put some distance between himself and Vulcan before he'd make his first move. If anything, he'd have to resort to quick strikes and his own speed in dancing away from Vulcan's strikes.

Alpha stood a good distant away watching them.

"The dog will get fed qhen you do and be staying with me at night. There is a catch of course. You think they would just let you keep the dragon and the dog?" She dropped the leash on the ground and folded her arm. She lowered her voice before speaking again. "The people at the lap want blood samples from you and the little dragon and to ask you questions. Someone should be coming by to get you later today." She lowered her voice before speaking again. "You where an idiot back at HQ. The government had no idea that a shifter who could shift into a mythical beast existed till you showed them." She took a few steps back when some guards walked by. They nodded at each other before th guards went on their way. "Don't try anything stupid here. There is more than Vulcan,Xander and I here to stop you." Amelie dropped her arms to her side started walking away. "Oh yeah. Breakfast is being served in the mess hall. I'd leave now before they finish." And with that she was gone.

Amelie wasn't really that hungry, so when she got to the mess hall she picked up some strawberries and left. When she walked back outside she noticed Alpha by herself. (Can't see the guys from where she is standing.) At that alarms went off in her head. A little girl like that should not be alone unless in the infirmary. She knew Alpha could do some damage there with the tools they kept. After all she was trained to fight the best she could. Amelie ran up to the girl. "Alpha, what are you doing here by yourself?" Alpha had a guilty look on her face and Amelie didn't know why till she looked past her. Seeing the boys in a fighting stance she almost wanted to yell at them to not waste their enegery and time,, but stopped herself. ~This was bound to happen at some point.~ Sighing she took a seat on the grass and pulled Alpha down with her. "No wonder you guys weren't still in the mess hall." She said in a low voice. She didn't really want to guys to know she was there yet. Alpha smiled sheepishly. "About this morning," Amelie put a fingertips her lips. "It's fine. Just sleep in your own bed so it doesn't happen again." The girl pouted but nodded anyway.

Seeing Xander move back from him Vulcan already assumed he wanted to stay out of his reach and attack with fire. Vulcan wouldn't let him. When Xander made those first small steps backwards he took the same steps towards him, only faster, his leg muscles propelling him forward like a spring of a toy. Once he had reduced the distance between them he threw a right hook at him, targeting his temple. If he landed the hit he would take him completely out of balance and that would give him an opening for more punches. On the other hand, even though it was a quick and rather long range attack it left his right side completely exposed and unprotected.

(Oh, and ppls, don't forget to tell me if I'm OP-ing or powerplaying. I probably won't notice it myself.)

Surprised by Vulcan's sudden movements, Xander immediately threw a right hook, sending a ball of flames in Vulcan's direction as if he had thrown an actual punch. He had no time to dodge the hook thrown at himself though, and Xander took the hit, stumbling backwards and dazed. In self-defense since he was disoriented and unable to take the offensive now, Xander summoned a fire cloak that quickly enveloped his body in flames that would burn anyone who touched them. Luckily, his personal uniform was fire-proof so it wasn't going to burn off anytime soon. That surely would've made things awkward. Trying to regain his focus, Xander blinked several times and hoped his vision would clear up since it was blurry at the moment and he was struggling to keep his balance.
