Futuristic Those That are Hunted

"My brother is my most important person. I would do anything to protect him. Since we were twins we did everything together. When I was around eight or nine I started showing signs that I had a gift. My skin started to get paler, no matter how long I stayed on the sunlight, and my skin would be cold to touch. Now my mother....she hated the gifted people with a passion. Little didn't she know she gave birth to two of them." Amelie's grip on his hand tightened. "When my father found out he did his best to hid it from her. It's also when he started keeping me inside more and paid attention to me more. My mother thought it was because I was his little princess. You know how Dads can be about their daughters. Little did I know that a few months after mine started to show my brother started getting his. It always seemed weird to me that he would talk to things that weren't always there. Also he would stare at me a lot as well as some other people." She lifted her head off his shoulder. "My brother has a gift that the government would love to take advantage of." Amelie hesitated before speaking again. "My brother can tell if some has a gifted ability. Whether the other person knew it or not. He tried explaining it to me once. He said it looked our aura glowed. Anyway, my father did his best to hide me. I started getting he schooled and the only time I was truly free to do as I wish was in the winter time, when it was normal to be cold." Amelie loved the snow. The way it felt between her fingers. Many people wouldn't understand. "When I was about 10 I had the trouble controlling my gifts. I was at my rebellious stage and my gift started acting with my emtions. I would spend days locked up in my room just so my mother wouldn't see and knly my brothee would come in and sit with me.My dad would say I'm sick as an excuse. Shows how bad of a mom she was. Didn't even think to check on me. A little after that started happening I realized I needed to leave. I was dangerous to my family. I needed help to control it. So less than a year later I up and left. I found an agent and got sent to an Academy to help me. I trained for three years and then got sent out in the field." She didn't want or go into detail about her academy days. Nor her first few years in the field. ~It's nothing he wants to hear.~ "How about you? Where you ever with your family?"

"I don't know what to tell you, Amelie. I never knew my parents. All I know is that they left me in the street to rot after they found out I was a gifted. I grew up in the garbage of a city that simply didn't know what to do with those children. We were too many to go to shelters or become agents. As a gifted the only choice available was to either get captured and euthanized like an unwanted pet or join a gang. The choice was clear. Kids were given small jobs, mostly deliveries or shoplifts, because even if they were to be captured they would be released soon after. I remember exactly what happened that day. The guard had me by the neck, I turned around, grabbed his gun from the holster and shot him... multiple times. When the gang boss caught wind of this I got... promoted? Got that thing over there in my hands. I was supposed to become a weapon in a living shell. Not questioning orders, not thinking, no regret, just pulling the trigger and nothing more. Only then did I get my name. The one you call me now - Vulcan. Until then - 136, meaningless, expendable. With time my confidence grew, some of the members started fearing me and and my wild nature. I didn't know why they didn't just kill me... One day the boss simply sent me away to the USA with a human traficant. There I joined another gang and met my new mentor - the man that hit Hayden's car by the way. He was different. Taught me to judge and to think about what I was doing. While the last one would punish me if I asked questions this one punished me if I didn't. But the gang grew reckless in their actions and that led to the moment in which the other gangs and the government had enough of us. We were hunted and exterminated. I was among the ones that got captured. Connections are a powerful weapon, money as well. Got sentenced to five years in a hellish prison where rules didn't exist. When I was released the man took me in again. Been living with him in that gas station for the past three years, still doing jobs, still killing, but also learning. He has been like the father I never had."

Amelie instantly felt guilt when she found out that she had basically ruined the only family he had for a few years. "They actually let you go? Well I guess the money part sounds about right. You must have been pretty lucky to have found the right warden. But you definitely had it worse than I did and...I'm sorry I kind of ruined what you had." She looked up at him. "I blindly follow orders so I don't get sent away, or worse. I've seen what they do to agents who yo rogue like Hayden. They mess with their minds." Amelie felt a chill go through her body. "It's not pretty."

"Nah, it wasn't worse. You've got freedom, you've got no rules. You can do anything that pleases you. Don't like someone? You kill them and no one's gonna lift a finger to stop you. You've got to grow in ranks fast, become big and strong so that the same doesn't happen to you. But you can't just simply leave a gang either. You've got info and no man can keep his mouth shut for too long. I sense that it won't be much different in the agency." His eyes meet hers, a loving smile forming on his face. "You've ruined nothing. That old man is happy I finally found a place where I belong again. I've been a handful for him. Literally teaching a wolf manners. And I'm glad I have you as a partner. Hope it lasts."

Kytha snarled and turned human. As she walked to the group she barked out commands. "Everyone, in a defnce circle now! Toron get ready, as soon as they lunge deploy your forcefields and then make a fifth. Deploy the fifth at the very end when I tell you to. Allia, I want you to make a quake as soon as all our forcefields are on. And Hayden, suck any wolfs life except the alpha. He's mine at the end." She growls and snickers to herself. 'If only you all knew this is just a training fight' she thinks to herself and gets ready for the practice.

Toron nods and waits for them to lunge. The enemy alpha howls and toron throws each of the forcefields at his companions then himself and started forming his next forcefield

"I hope this lasts too." She moved her o her hand to turn Vulcan's face towards her and gave him a light kiss on the lips. "Missions are boring when you're by yourself." She smirked against his lips. "It's always better with a partner." Amelie pulled away, her lips still inches from his. "Expecially one you can't trust...and care for."

(Sorry for the short response.)

The kiss felt warm and good and even though it lasted only for a few seconds it seemed like hours. "I'm afraid to take responsibility for anyone anymore. I'm obviously failing at it." He leaned his forehead on hers for support, smiling softly and looking in her eyes as if asking for permission. His hands, unknowing where to go, carefully move towards Amelie, stroking her arms and down her waist with his very fingertips.

Despite what he said, ever since he was ready to willingly protect her her she had felt safe. And now, while looking into his eyes, she knew he would do whatever he could to protect her. She felt her heart beat faster as his fingers began to stroke her arm but once they got to her waist she pulled away from him. It was weird mentally she was ok with seducing people to get what she wants but she didn't know why, now of all times, that in the back of her head she was a little scared. "I think you're trying your hardest." Amelie's voice was soft and her hands fell in her lap. "I'm sorry, I'm just...not good with intimacy. It's hard since I've been by my self all these years and I'm not used to having someone like you in my life." She felt tears start to form in her eyes. ~Stupid female emotions.~

Vulcan quickly pulled back. It was never a good idea to mess with a woman's feelings. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean..." He stood up from the bed and went to the window, opening it and leaning on the apron, looking outside, breathing in some fresh air, clearing his head. Better leave her alone for a bit. Vulcan had never been with a woman he had feelings for. There have been some pretty call girls but that was entirely different. He didn't know how to handle a woman properly. Romance was, among so many other things that he had to confront himself with in those past weeks, completely new to him.

Amelie wiped her eyes. She couldn't believe her body was acting like this. She felt nervous for the first and it bothered her. She was Amelie Glass, an agent for the government who was known for her cold heart and willingness to hunt down, and even kill(if necessary), her own kind. Vulcan was right, after that shard peirce through her chest something changed in her and she wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not. Amelie just wished they could have a mission just pop up, but she was not in the condition to fight. She turned and looked at Vulcan's back. ~He's too good for this agency...too good for me.~ "Vulcan...I - I'm sorry. I'm not used to having this..this feeling in my chest. It's new to me and I don't entirely understand how to deal with it. And to be honest I'm kind of surprised I didn't freeze part of you on accident."

"It's my fault, I'm sorry, but you need to get rid of some of that stress." He tapped on the plastic apron, walked to his rifle, picked it up and rested it on his shoulder. Then he turned around to face Amelie. "Wanna go shooting? That's how I cope with it. But only if you are feeling well. How's that chest doing?"

Amelie touched her chest. "It's not as bad today. But I've never shot a gun before. The academy taught me how to use my gift as my only weapon." There was a sparkle in Amelie's eyes. She had always wanted to learn how to shoot but never got the chance. "But don't expect me to shoot that thing. There is no way I can do that."

"That was the exact same thing that I said when I was ten. No way I can shoot that.", he tries imitating a child's voice and laughs at his failed attempt "Sure you can." Vulcan sets the rifle back on the ground and raises the zipper of the suit back up. Then he takes a folded covering from the suitcase, dresses the long weapon, sticks three magazines of ammo in one of the pockets of the case and attaches the sling across his back. Then finally he stretches out his hand to help Amelie up. "Come on. There's a shooting range just behind the gas station. No worries, Kytha and the others are far far from there. Afterwards we can go get a drink. What'd you say?"

Amelie laughed at his imitation. "Yeah ok. At least if I re-open stitches the healer will be here tomorrow." She took his hand and pushed herself off the bed. Even after getting of she didn't let go of his hand. It felt nice in hers. "I'm not worried about Kytha and them. It would be their mistake for coming near this town again. And I would like that." At first Amelie dreaded this mission but it's turning out to be fun...even if a war might break out.

"Lets go then" The two exit the room, lock up and walk out in the open. "I'm sorry but I'll be needing both hands for the bike. Won't be riding fast, promise." Vulcan helps Amelie get on, adjusts the rifle on the side and straps his helmet on. Then he starts the engine, making a wide U-turn and driving off. The powerful machine was making bored and weary sounds as they were going around the same speed as the cars. It was meant for speeds after all. When they finally got to the station Vulcan just stood there for a minute, looking at the abandoned and plundered building, whether by animals or people that simply had to climb through the broken window. "Quite a few memories here. Oh, well." he sighs and pulls on the sling, then leads Amelie to the back and after just a few meters through a narrow path, surrounded by bushes and trees, they find themselves in an open grassland, not very wide, but a bit more than a kilometer long.

Vulcan unpacks the weapon, makes sure nothing has been dislocated from the ride and loads one of the magazines, each containing five bullets almost as long as his palm. He lays in the grass, spreading the legs of the Bi-pod, looking through the scope and starts adjusting the elevation and windage turrets, finally turning the safety off. He then stands up again and mentions Amelie to the ground.

"Okay. Keep your body in a straight line with the weapon, heels flat on the ground. Put the butt pad against your shoulder, cheek on the cheek piece. Make sure you are stable or it will jump in your face and that hurts. A lot. Look through the scope. Both eyes open, constant breathing. Lets say... that thick tree over there in the distance that's got a bullseye drawn on it. Find your target. You should be able to see a dark ring around the scope. That's your scope shadow. It has to be in the center or you'll be off target, but right now, just focus on your reticle. Now, put the ball of your forefinger gently on the trigger. Don't pull sharply or it will startle you. Steadily build up pressure and when the rifle goes off continue applying pressure. Got it? Shoot when you're ready." He puts one hand on her back, gently but firmly pressing down and holding her in one place. Amelie wasn't as big as he was so whatever technique she applied the recoil would shake her up every time.

(Wow, all right so I stopped getting notifications from this and I see that a lot has happened since I last posted. Where could Xander jump in now?)

(We've all had this problem. You could be sent to work with Amelie and me against the revolution/capturing Hayden.)

(A lot was mostly just between Vulcan and Amelie. Xander can jump in by being the reinforcement they need to take kytha and her group down.)

(The reason why Amelie doesn't use guns is because I personally know nothing about them >. < so I apologize a head of time if something is wrong with my response and I'll change it.)

Amelie followed along with him as much as she could. She had to be careful of her wound when getting to the ground. She did exactly as Vulcan told her to do. Once she felt she was positioned right she made a thick armour of ice covering the upper half of her body to help prevent injuring herself with the recoil. To be honest she would have rather tried using a pistol of some kind. ~No this huge thing.~ Amelie took a deep breath to steady her aim at the target and relax her body. She knew that in almost any situation tensing your body could make things worse. She could hear her heart pounding as she became a little hesitant to shoot. ~You can do this Amelie. You've been through hell and back and your scared to shoot a gun?~ She takes and consecrated again. All Amelie could feel was pain when she shot the gun. The recoil caused her armour to crack and her body to jerk with it. "Shit." She had felt her stitches pull but the ice kept them in. "I think I rather start with something smaller. You know, something that I couldn't potentially damage my self more than I already have."

(Hmm, all right)

Xander had left after the agent he'd previously been talking to had just up and left him at that lone tree. Walking along the streets again, Xander froze when he heard a deep and resonating gunshot nearby. Not speeding up in case it was allies of his, Xander kept a calm composure and made his way along the street until he came to a gas station. He saw no clear sign of anyone being inside so he made his way to the back of the gas station. He stopped in his tracks when he saw a female and male up ahead. Not exactly recognizing the two, though Xander had never been one to get acquainted with other agents, Xander walked up to the pair and then stopped before leaning against a wall near the pair. He silently summoned a mini Chinese dragon made entirely of fire to dance in front of his chest as he crossed his arms over his chest and then said, "I'd assume you two are agents as well." Granted, that was a rather blunt statement, but Xander was entirely sure what else to say to the two and he at least was getting a conversation going with this.

"Not too bad for a first try... Sometimes smaller is worse. Those two handguns that I carry around will fly right off your hands if you cannot hold onto that baby. Now, see that bolt handle? You won't be able to shoot again if you don't reload. Pull it up and back, towards your face until the empty shell falls off, then push it back into place. If you don't wanna shoot again turn the safety off, then get up. Do you know why I'm trying to teach you shooting that thing? Because first of all it strengthens you and makes your body less vulnerable to pain. It also teaches you to breath properly and have a steady hand even when using your gift. For a second time you shoot at me and miss. There are no valid excuses when facing your opponent, simply because there's no such thing as a fair fight. One does what he must to survive." A sound interrupts his thoughts. He quickly pulls the rifle from under Amelie, falls on one knee and positions the butt on his shoulder, wrapping one hand around the sling and setting the elbow on his leg for support, aiming at the source of the sound. A young man soon appears and stands just a few meters from them, seeming way too relaxed. "As well?" He was wearing a suit just like theirs but stealing the clothes off a dead body wan't too hard either. Vulcan didn't trust him. He kept the muzzle aimed at his chest, not even paying attention to the fiery creature. "Do you have anything to prove that you are indeed an agent?"

God Amelie hated being lectured sometimes but she couldn't really say anything about it since she did have no idea what she was doing. Then suddenly the gun was taken from under her. Hearing a male voice that was not Vulcan's caused her to spin around and her ice wolf formed next to her, growling at the man. ~I don't remember calling for back up yet. Did they send someone else because I was injured?~ Amelie had no clue who this guy was but from the creature that was flying around him, he was her worse nightmare. ~Fire and ice types don't mix well. This would be a fight I probably won't win.~ Her sword could probably stand the heat but she wasn't sure about anything else.

(Do the agents have anything on them that signifies them being agents or would Xander have to try to prove it with words alone?)
