Realistic or Modern The Zenith Project

Conor made his way to the cafeteria and found others had already arrived. There was Fletcher, Keith, Sam, and Max. Over in the corner was a young boy he hadn't seen yet. He shrugged it off and grabbed a bowl of oatmeal with some fruit and milk. He then sat down next to the group of boys and started listening to their conversation. Max was beginning to become fidgety. He just couldn't understand that boy.

Kara smirked. "Maybe they have us fight it out," she projected back to Sasha, "May the odds forever be in your favor." She turned and took a bow toward Sasha while sticking out her tongue

Sasha laughed at Kara's reference, "Well seems to me the odds would be more in your favor over everyone else." She projected. She then walked over to the door, "Come on let's go get something to eat before it's too late." She was stilled worried by what team training meant exactly. She had this feeling that maybe they weren't here for the reasons they thought they were. Her thoughts then turned to her family, would she ever see them again? Had this really been the right choice?

Kara nodded in agreement at what Sasha said because they were technically already running late. "To breakfast we go ladies!" She said as she headed for the door. She looked back at Sasha, "Don't worry bout team training though,if you're with me I got your back...and even if you're not, I still got ya. Especially when this place turns into a super powered mutant detention center and they figure out that they can no longer safely house us....or decide to harvest our organs." She projected as she headed for breakfast.

Sasha laughed at Kara's jokes, she had a weird sense of humor but it was still pretty funny. They made their way to the cafeteria and Sasha went ahead and got some cereal and fruit. "What exactly do you think team training will be for?" She projected to Kara.

Lyle:

I got to the cafeteria and got my food silently. there in the corner I sat as I watched people come and eat and talk to each other. I thought to myself about what I could possibly do with my ability, i had to master how to break concrete before i learned to do other things. I didn't know how exactly it all worked but all i knew was that I could hit harder and get hit harder then anyone else on this planet. I had to figure out a way how to use this to its fullest. I finished my breakfast and sat there waiting for the classes to start still thinking on what it was I was going to do with my ability

He noticed his roommate-- Lyle, was it? --enter the cafeteria, and against his inner thoughts he willed himself to at least walk over and talk to him. He looked as lonely as he did, sitting in a corner all alone. He stood before the boy. "Hey." he said finally.

Kara went straight for the eggs and sausage and bacon. She hadn't eaten like this in forever, the food they had at the sententious center wasn't all that great. "Probably to see whose powers are compatible with whose...I don't know," she piled bacon and hoarded scrambled eggs, taking two plates, "Or maybe they're looking for the strongest amongst us to lead the others in a war against mankind...you never know." She projected back to Sasha.

The kids were gathered in the cafeteria, eating their breakfast and chatting. Sudennly the intercom could be heard and once again the voice appeared to instruct them, "Class will begin shortly please follow our agents to your class room" As it said this about two agents entered the cafeteria to lead the children to their class room. They were guided down the halls but in the end the room hadn't been that far away. Before the kids entered the room they were informed that they would be incharge of going to class on their own from now on. The class room was fairly large and set up for desks to accomodate the students. Two people stood at the front class room, a woman with long, light brown hair with a very teacherly look and an a man who's skin and hair was dark who had a friendly face. "Hello kids, my name is Ms. Jessica Blake, and this is Mr. Derik Russel" The woman said, gesturing to the man beside her. "Just call me Russ kids." He told them with a gentle smile. Ms.Blake then turned back to the kids, "Please choose any seat you like, and we can get started. Since you all share the same class we will divide you into groups that Mr. Russel and I can teach sperately. While one group gets a lesson the other is doing their work. Understood?"

XxRoseAlchemistxX updated The Zenith Project with a new update entry:

Specified Staff

Since we will have a few characters that are going to be more important(teachers/staff/lab workers/agents etc.) I felt I would post them here for quick reference. As we get more specified NPC's I'll try to add them to this.

Max walked over to a desk in the corner and sat down. He didn't think Sam would mind much. He was a little nervous. It had been years since he had gone to an official school. Devein had tole him a bit, but not enough to truly prepare him. He hoped they didn't try to teach him basic crap. He knows a lot for living on the streets.

-----

Conor walked into the center of the desk area and sat down. He had no problem with people and did ok at school. Nothing to be ashamed of. He even aced history in the past. It was clearly his best subject. Math, not so much. He really didn't care, though.

Cameron moaned in his head but took a seat towards the back of the room where he would be less likely to be called on. His bag hit the floor with a quite audible thump. Then, his head resting in one hand, his elbows on his desk, he watched the other students slowly file in. 'So it begins,' he thought to himself.

Kara didn't waste anytime and grabbed both Sasha and Alice and sat down so that she was between the two of them. She wasn't particularly good with the whole school thing anymore, she had sort of lost interest in that sort of thing. She found it more of a joke and a bad memory. "Let brainwashing 101 begin!" She muttered with false enthusiasm under her breath and then projected it in the exact same fashion to Sasha.

Sasha laughed quietly as Kara sat her down beside her. "Brainwashing!? Oh whatever will we do?" She projected Kara in a joking tone. "At least this will be the easy part right?" Sasha had been good in school despite her inability to speak. People might assume that it was easy to cheat when in reality it really wasn't. All the students thoughts overlapping each other didn't make it easy to find the right answer. So she worked hard in school like everyone else in her class. Or most of everyone in her class anyway.

Fletcher looked to Keith as they entered the classroom. "So where did you want to sit?" He asked him. He figure he'd let Keith pick considering how Keith was and that seating didn't really matter to Fletcher at all. He looked to the teachers for a moment. He was almost disappointed to see that they appeared to be normal teachers. Then again, could they really hire normal teachers for something like this? That's when the theory was confirmed in his mind. They certainly weren't normal teachers. More than likely they were agents of Zenith Project. Fletcher smiled to himself. He felt like soon, something fantastic would be revealed.

Alice was glad that she didn't have to fight for a seat and was perfectly happy where she was. She was good at school. She could do it fairly well actually. It was even better when she was with her friends. She had been quiet for a while, lookong at all the students and quietly wishing that there was some sort of way to know what powers they had. Tough luck there at least, she was feeling very conflicted about it. She paused, looking over before snickering at Kara's statement. "Oh yes, I like that class name much better."

Keith shifted, looking around the classroom anxiously before motioning for Fletcher to be somewhat near the door. "Let's sot here, so if I have to run, I won't tip over anyones desk." He stated, reaching into his bag and pulling out a plastc bag of peanuts as he sat down, munching on them nervously. He was glad Fletcher wanted to sit next to him however..... "You looked excited but dissapointed at the same time you know..."

Lyle:

I looked up at the boy now in front of me. "Hey there" I said as I looked at my food again and started eating. this day was going to be rather dull until we started class, and tho top it all off this random kid was now bugging me. I looked to the rest of the room for a moment and just going about like nothing was different from before they came here, we had a purpose now, training, and eventually a mission. It was painfully obvious we would be sent on a mission of some sort, that s what theses sort of things always ended up like.

Fletcher went ahead and walked over to the desks closest to the doors, sitting down and giving Keith the outer one. "That's kind of it." He said. He leaned in a little bit, "At first I thought we had normal teachers, but I'm starting to doubt that." He explained to Keith. "I think these guys are agents too, and they'd have to be pretty good ones in order to be trusted with teaching us I think."

Lu took her place in the classroom and tried to remember what she'd learned from her ordinary school. If worst came to worst, she could just guess. That had usually worked out for her.

((Generals are not classes I'm going to be to worried about. Most of the time I may time skip through them, unless I want to give characters a chance to interact. If that's the case just remember it is a school setting and your character should be doing work along with whatever else they are doing)) As the kids got seated class began. Ms. Blake had divided in them into groups, based on a short test that each minor had to go through in the screening process.(divided by age group 1: 14-16, group 2: 16-18. make them even please)) Minus the younger kids, who's lessons would be taught separately from the older students by both Ms. Blake and Russ.

Kara grinned. "Looks like we'll be sticking together," she smiled at Alice, and then to Sasha she projected, "We're going to be in the same group...we might even get another person depending on the number of people" she grinned. She wasn't really one for schoolwork at all, so she wondered what the punishment here was going to be. She didn't have to do any homework or projects while she was in solitary, and she wasn't about to suddenly turn into a studious prisoner now. This place had one thing to offer her, from her perspective, and that was the ability to control and enhance her abilities, and as soon as that was taken care of, she'd be leaving this facility through sheer force...unless they were nice enough to walk her out themselves.

Once upon a time she would've been an eager student and willing to go along with the regiment and schedule of these people, but that wasn't who she was anymore. This place didn't seem to be any better than the hell hole she left, it was just dressed up to look a lot nicer and seem a lot better.

Sasha smiled at Kara, trying to be nice. However she was becoming increasingly concerned when she realized that among all the thoughts she could hear at the moment, she couldn't hear any of the teachers' thoughts. There was no hint of a thought coming from either one of them. This had never happened to her before. The inability to hear someone's thought, it was strange, and made her nervous. Why couldn't she hear them?

Kara sat there for the moment wondering what exactly they were going to be doing for the day, and the longer she sat there the more agitated she became. She had been in solitary confinement for some time before she came here, and she wasn't too excited about this classroom thing. They didn't really expect them to sit around here, she was more interested in how they were going to help her understand her abilities and make her stronger. The sooner that happened, she figured, the sooner she'd be able to get out of there. She hadn't agreed to come here but she also didn't have the power or the control of her power to put up a fight. She understood that she may have to play ball if she wanted things to turn out good for her, but she wasn't too good at following the rules just to appease those in charge. "So what's going on here? What do those two have in stored for us?" she projected to Sasha as she considered messing with the desks in the room to kill some time.

Keith balanced his pencil nervously before smiling. "I'm good with here, but um, you'll stick with me right? Is our age difference large Fletcher?" He sounded childishly nervous about being split into groups. He saw that maybe he could trty to get along with that other boy, (Lyle if you need a place to jump in) and had taken to staring at him. Then back to Fletcher, then to thinking nervously about the test he had been given. He knew he did maybe an average job. It didn't feel good to feel average. Especially in a place like this.

Alice sighed at the test. Her twin would have been able to ace this, right? Even though she felt she did an exceptional job she found herself thinking about him and spacing out horribly. Almost not finishing the test at all. Glancing back to her new pack of friends she smiled seeing that maybe they were engaging in something without her knowing. She didn't mind, if they were talking she had her thoughts to herself for a bit.

Lu concentrated on the test. It was moderately hard, but no harder than some of the tests she'd had to take during her years at ordinary school, and she'd aced them. She was confident about this test as well. She picked up her pencil and began work, guessing on the answers she didn't know. Her guesses tended to be very accurate.

Max focused on the test in front of him. It was fairly hard, but then again he wasn't as smart as he should be as he lost a couple years of school. However, he did keep up with he studying as best as he could. He even stole from several libraries multiple times just so he could try and continue learning.
