Fantasy The Winter of 1637

Third person is all right.

>Attempt to pet the beast!

Please don't bite. Please don't bite. If it bites, please dodge the bite.

Noah reaches his hand out to pet the Woof-lf, and for a moment there is peace.
"Ow!" The woof-lf, innocent at first, bit his hand, though luckily his glove wasn't damaged as he yanked it away.

Oh no, now it looks like it wants to fight. It starts barking like a wolf, and enters some sort of combat stance.
Noah sighs.
"Sorry, buddy. But..." he draws his sword.

(Combat is relatively simple. Just pick a choice and Noah will do the rest.)

-Astral Knight ability*
-Run Away

*Chosen Ability (Choose an ability from below, like Telesmite or Flame Lance or something.)

(Oh, and don't worry about accidentally killing the Woof-lf. For this battle, your attacks will be highly unlikely to kill it.)

Noah gives the Woof-lf a hefty slash, though it's tough fur turns his sword slash into nothing more than a blunt attack. It probably still hurt, though.

The Woof-lf counters with diving at Noah, ready to bite!
Oh wait, it didn't jump far enough. It lands in front of Noah, giving him a chance to do another attack.

(Most actions cost will. Slashing increases will slightly on hit, and abilities cost 2 Will. Taking damage will also reduce your Will.)

Well, it appears to be exposed. I think if we hit this woof with the ability Telesmite, it'll be more than just a blunt attack this time.

Noah takes a few steps back, and then swings his sword at the air. At first, nothing happens, but then a burst of light engulfs the Woof-lf, so powerful that it is sent skyrocketing into the air. There is a single twinkle as it disappears from sight.
"..."
(Critical!)

He decides not to dwell on how he just did that, so he continues on his merry journey.

+1.
There are things flying above the city. They look like... Humans, but with wings? When he got close, he lost sight of them. But there was nothing to fear, apparently, as the city was a bustling center of commerce and... City life.
"Hmm... I'm hungry."
(-4 Will)
"Uh- what?" Oh, gotta get some food soon, as that boat ride was really boring.

Noah is about to walk into this general store, but he notices some guy wearing brown robes, sitting against a building, along with some sort of... Pet. It wasn't so easy to describe, but it was like a cat, but with a big fish tail... And and a fin on it's back? And to top it off, there was a very subtle mix of orange and grey colors on it's fur.
Noah walks up to the person.
"Hello, you don't happen to be called Alekir, do you?"

His companion growls slightly, but the mage pets it.
"Mmm... Do I know you?"

"No, Blake sent me."

"Does he need me for some crazy crusade to become king?"

"Wha? No, we just need your help, because there's a magical blizzard over where he's at."

Alekir stood up, a little interested now.
"And where is he?"

"Western region, in Graicmer."

"I see..." The mage thinks about this for a moment, but shakes his head. "Sorry, but I'm not a meteorologist. I recommend you find a man in the city named Professor Cosmo. He's a -professor-."

That would work. Noah thanks him, and then turns to leave... But then turns back around.
"If you don't mind me asking, what was that about a crusade?"

Alekir shakes his head.
"It's probably better if I don't ruin your image of him."

Okay, now what?

-General Store: Buy some food
-Library: Use your free time to do some reading
-Assorted Buildings: Look for Professor Cosmo

Probably food is the best first option, but maybe after lunch we could go to the library. There's sure to be plenty of information there, maybe even something about unusual weather.

Hello, yes, I'd like to join this quest if I am allowed.

Go and buy food, Noah. Best to continue the search on a full stomach.

amoeba amoeba : Boe, I'm afraid I can't respond to our group chat. Is it because I'm new? This post won't get to you as soon as I send it, because it awaits moderator approval. I'm quite worried with this situation.

The bells ring as Noah enters the store. He's real hungry, so he makes it quick.
"Hello sir, may I purchase some bread?"

The shopkeeper is staring forward so much, that he appears to be staring right through Noah.
"Hello? Anyone there?"

He almost touches the shopkeeper, when there's some sort of *cha-ching* sound and a loaf of bread appears on the counter. Even more strangely, some gold was missing from his pocket when he searched it.
"I uhh... y'know what, thankyoubye." He beats a hasty retreat before he could get even more creeped out.
(+4 Will)

How about the library, that should be fun! He walks up to the official looking building, and knocks on the door.
"We're closed mate." someone said instantly.

"Oh... why are you just standing on the other side of the door?"

"It's my job to say the library is closed to anyone that tries knocking."

"Can't you get like... a sign or s-"

"WE'RE CLOSED. Go away." Noah leaves, and spends like 20 minutes searching for this Professor Cosmo until he finds the most science-y looking house.

He enters without knocking.
"Uhh... hello?"

"Close the door behind you, boy. Can't have bugs flying in here."
The owner of the residence was an old man examining something on a microscope.

Noah quickly enters and closes the door.
"Professor Cosmo?"

The elderly man didn't move a muscle.
"That's right. What do you need with me today?"

"There's some strange blizzard going on in the West. And it would be helpful if you'd maybe... help us?"

"It's actually Southwest, and I can't help you."

Noah sighed, a little annoyed.
"Why not?"

Cosmo scoffed.
"I'm busy. I have a lot of research to do."

"What am I supposed to do now?"

"Find my assistant, her name is Lyra. And before you ask her what she looks like, she likes archery and has wings."

Noah sighed as he walked outside to go searching for people again.
"Close the-" "Yes I know."

Where to search?

-Random streets
-Random alleys
-The library again

It may be dangerous in the alleys. Noah can visit the library again and try to negotiate, or even if he fails to do so, acquire information from the person behind the front door of the building.

Thank you, moderators! I am not invisible anymore.

It sure could be dangerous in the alleys but we shouldn't be afraid to face it, plus this doesn't really look like a place with much crime or wild animal issues.

Back-alley restaurants? Secret markets? Perhaps even Lyra herself? I think random alleys can only lead to good things here.

I would definitely vote for the library, but I also remembered that it took a while for our protagonist to reach Professor Cosmo's place from there. Because of that, I vote >to search random alleys, at least until the library is easily accessible again. If we're lucky, Noah will find a dark alley with lots of experience waiting for him... :-)

*knock knock* "Who's there? Don't answer, we're -closed-."

"But-"

"Read the sign!"

Noah eyed the wall of the library for a bit, but there was no sign of a sign. "I don't see-"

The doorman was starting to become exasperated. "Oh my goddd! I don't get paid enough for this! I don't got anything to say to you, but WE'RE. CLOSED. Go home!"

Noah whispered: "I'm sorry.", but the doorman probably couldn't hear it.
Anyways, the next person to talk to was Alekir, who was in the same spot as before, refracting light from a piece of metal for his cat/fish to chase.
"Hey, Alekir?"

"What's it now?" He asked, not paying attention to his cat patting the light on the wall.

"Do you know where I can find a person named Lyra?"

"Nope." the mage resumed playing around with his cat/fish.

Noah, now extra sad and bored, started walking around aimlessly, which led him into the alleys.
The rabid rats there scattered when he came close, which was good since he wasn't looking for a fight at the moment. *sigh*
"It's getting late, I should probably resume this in the morning."

"Hey mister, are you lost?" Noah quickly turned around in response to a girl's voice, but no one was there. Was this a joke?

"No, up here, silly!" He looked up to see some winged person just floating there. She lowered herself down to his level. "So, you need directions or something?"

Without the sunlight, the knight could see that the girl's wings were dark, and resembled those of a bat. She also had some sort of thin, pointy tail?

-"Are those... wings?"
-"Is your name by any chance Lyra?"
-"...yes?"

I'm gonna take the last option, [Stare].

Now it's up to chance here. With all four options in play, Noah will be so conflicted about what to say that he'll either manage to get a decent response out, or end up with nothing at all.
