The Wild Side

"Remember the first time you went to that tower," says Hakrum, "and you were just supposed to check quickly if there were any animals, and instead you ended up taking more like fifteen minutes? Well, I'm saying you've learned something, which is a good thing."

loki is still up in the bedroom. his eyes are red still, from extreme emotion, but he has gotten better. he is no longer mad at ronnie. <i was such an idiot. He can take care of himself, what was i thinking?! i always think it's a trap. just like what i thought when we met Emelia and Jack. i thought they were trying to trick us... maybe i need to have faith in others.> he gets up and says out loud, "It's okay loki. just apologise! how hard could it be?"

loki looks surprised, but calms down almost instantly. his red eyes change back to blue, and he says, "look. I'm sorry for being paranoid when you went to leave. Even when I first met emelia and jack, i was invisible cause i thought it was a trap. But..." he steels himself with effort. "I'm gonna try to be more trusting. I realise that you are all capable, and it is actually me that is lacking in this group. sorry."

Loki smiles. he feels a bit better. "I mean, look at me. I am only useful in close combat or reconnaissance. While you are a complete master of magic. I mean sure... i taught myself... but still."

"yeah. you're incredibly useful for close combat and reconaissance. focus on that."

After restocking on crossbow bolts, Credere looks around and realizes that she's in an armory, the place where they put all the weapons. The valuable weapons. She returns to the rest of the group with a very large and very pointy burlap sack.

"Huh," says Cerralei, "looks like you're quite well-prepared, aren'tcha?"

Hakrum raises an eyebrow. "I wanted to say, excessively so, but actually no, I approve. People's usual tendency is to underestimate danger rather than overestimate, so yeah, that's good thinking on your part. In fact, perhaps I should get a physical weapon as well." He goes to walk out.

"Bring me back one too!" calls out Cerralei.

"If you want it," says Hakrum, "you can get it yourself." And she pouts, but goes to follow him anyway.

In the armory, Cerralei strokes an imaginary beard as she looks at the weapons. "I will take... something light! Like a dagger!"

Hakrum nods. "Good choice. The weapons aren't really our first resort, and we both have other equipment. I'll take a dagger as well."

"Who's going again?" says Oliver.

Hakrum and Cerralei come back.

"Can I pleaaaaase come too this time?" says Cerralei.

"Wait no," says Cerralei. "I should do it like this." She makes her eyes as big as she can. "Pweeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaase?"

"There are children in this house," says Hakrum, "so at least one of us should stay behind, like last time."
