The Vet and Criminal JustadashxGuySouvlaki

ThatGuyWithSouvlaki

Lucky Laki Malakis
It was raining heavily as a man stumble down the street, clutching a visibly bleeding wound on his shoulder amongst others all over him. I needed help badly, he thought to himself looking around for any sign of help. He notices a sign with a distinctive green and white cross on it and the words "Veterinarian" underneath, not in a position to be picky he quickly made his way towards it.

"Help me..."He managed to say as he entered the practice before dropping on the floor.

Kali was sitting on the couch in her living room watching a movie trying with a hot cup of tea to distract herself from the storm. She wasn't afraid of them or anything, she just didn't like them. All of the thunder and lightning always made her jump.

It had been an easy day here at the clinic, yes, her house was the Vet clinic. She always wanted to be available to those, day or night, that had an animal in need. And she could tell you how many times she was so happy that she was there all the time. So many people brought in animals at night because they had been hit or something of the sort.

On this night however she had not been expecting the guest that opened the door with a loud 'BANG', probably because the wind caught it, and was now sprawled out across the floor. She gasped and setting down her tea, she ran over, closed the door, and belt down by the man that was on the floor.

He had many wounds on him and several that were going to need stitches. After looking the man over she got up and quickly walked over to a medicine cabinet and got a shot of sedative. She wasn't wanting him to wake up for what she was going to do next. She also grabbed a needle and thread for the stitching.

When she got back to the man she cut off his shirt, it was Nasty anyways, and gave him the shot is sedative. And then, placing her hands on his chest she healed most of his wounds. The bleeding stopped, all the minor cuts healed, all broken bones mended, and all the major ones were healed to the point they wouldn't scar, though she figured he was going to be pretty sore when he woke up.

She could not heal him fully because it would make him ask too many questions so she cleaned out the major wounds better and started stitching them closed.

Silas regained consciousness not long after, pain shooting through out his body but not as bad as before. He groaned as result, turning his head take a look at his surrounding but his vision was blurry making out only the outline of a figure. He instantly panicked unsure were he was trying to drag himself backwards away from the person, eventually reaching a wall which he used to sit up.

"Where am i? Who are you?"He said before groaning a pain putting his hand over a wound she was stitching. He felt blood and the stitching threat and began to pull it out.

Kali let go of the needle and thread as soon as she could but it was too late for most of it. She saw the wound start bleeding again and sighed "ya know my good sir that if you pull away from me while I am trying to stitch you up, we are going to be here for a good while." She smiled at him warmly trying to get him to clam down and let her help. "My name is Kali and it was my vets office you fell into. There is nothing to fear here, just let me finish stitching you up. I can numb the area, if that would make it better for you." She slowly got up from the floor and walked to get some bandages and some more thread. On her way back to him she stopped at the counter , took a pot and poured some hot tea into a mug. Carrying the bandages and tea she came back over to him, "Would you like some tea? It's fresh."

He did not say anything, forcing himself up and walking towards a window. He looked up and down the street and for approaching cars, he heard a siren and stepped back a look of worry in his face. A police car passed by the house but continued on earning Silas a sigh of relief. He turned around back to the girl.

"Uh, no... No thank you... some water would be nice..."He finally spoke still a bit gittery."How long was i out of it?"

Kali frowned at him "you really shouldn't be up walking around in your condition. Please come sit down." She said directing him towards the couch. "You were out for about an hour, no more than that." She walked over to a sink and ran some water in a glass. "Here is your water. Now, will you please sit down so I can finish stitching your arm?" Kali said as she watched the blood start to trickle down his arm. "Oh, and what is your name?" She asked as she, not so patiently, waited for him to take a seat.

(No problem i dont exactly write pages.;-))

"I am fine... In fact i am surprised i feel that well."He said looking down at his body." I seem to be missing some wounds...Or...Eh..Did i just...Imagined it."

She shock a confused look away and followed her command and sat next to her.

"Silas...Sorry about the blood, these are difficult to come off....But maybe I..."He said before waving his hand over a blood stain. A few red droplets began to lift of the stain, decolorizing the stain but not completely removing it. He control the droblets sending them into the glass of water provided. He did the same for some other stains about."Best i could i am afraid...Blood is not all water."

Now it was Kali's turn to take a glance out the window to make sure no one was watching. "Be careful who you do that in front of, I wouldn't trust anyone... But thank you for removing most of the stain I am sure I can live with what's left or find something to get rid of it too. Blood stains aren't a big deal around here," she said as she waved her hand around.

"Now let me finish with your arm before you mess it up more." She wiped away the blood that was there with a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on it. "Sorry if that stings, I will numb it in a minute..." And with that she put some ointment on another flat piece of cotton and started gently dabbing it on his wound. "While I am doing this, why don't you tell me how you got yourself so beat up? Who did you tick off" she said in a joking manner as she once again started to stitch his arm up. She healed it again to the point it would stop bleeding and hoped he didn't notice. She still didn't know enough about this man to trust him with her secret.

"You have already answered your question."He said intentionally being vague his mood souring slightly. He stood up flexing his fixed arm while picking up his bloodied water. He looked out the window again, seeing policeman doing some door to door searches."Shit..."He couldn't help himself cursed as he began to move towards the kitchen."Is there and other way o..."But he couldn't continued as he clutched his stomach in pain as he stumbled slightly.

Kali frowned, "that's not a very good answer." She was not happy when he stood up but she stay seated and didn't say anything. It was not until he started to look for another way out that she got up and saw the police approaching the door. And again a sour look came to her face, "oh I see. In trouble with the law" now here she had three options 1) to show the police where he was, 2) let him leave by a back door , which she didn't think was possible in his current condition, or 3) hind him.

Kali sighed and shaking her head "I don't know why I am doing this but... Follow me..." She led him into an operation room and said "stay in here, don't say anything, and don't move. And after this... You owe me an explanation." She said all this as she was slipping on operation slacks.

As the knock came at the door she said "coming!" And with that she closed the door on the operation room.

"Yes officer?" She said as she opened the door. "Ma'm we need to search your house... Er.... Office." Kali humphed and put her hands on her hips, "Do what you will but make it snappy, I have a German Shepard on my table..." She pointed to the operation room. "Yes Ma'm, we will make it fast."

She let them do what they wanted until one tried to open the operation room door, "Sir you cannot go in there! You will contaminate the room and possibly kill the dog, then I will drag YOU the the three year olds house to tell her why her puppy died" she snapped at the officer.

At that the officer let go of the handle and said "all is good here, we won't keep you any longer." And with that Kali showed them out. As soon as she closed the door, she let out a long sigh and slid to the floor.

Silas slid out the operating table and walked to Kali breathing a sigh of relief. He moved towards the side of a window and peeked out, seeing the police officer walk to the next houses.

"A German Shepard? Well, what luck the cops were idiots."He said critically walking towards Kali and helping her up."Won't help for long though, neighbors might have seen me enter. Could have a description."(gtg)

Kali took his hand and pulled herself up, "thanks, and just because someone doesn't want to tell a child that her dog has died doesn't make them an idiot, it makes them human. Tell me, when was the last time you explained death to a child." Kali bushed herself off, crossed her arms and said "now you owe me an explanation. I didn't have to hide you tonight but I did anyways and if you think you can just walk out of here, think again. I know how to yell for the cops and I have no fear of doing it... So again, explain."

((have a good one!))

He frowned launched himself toward at Kali, pushing her crashing on to the wall and held her on it. At the same time, the water in his glass began float and moving to Salis hand. The water hardened to ice in a form of a shiv. He threatened her with it pointing it straight at her threat.

"Screams don't carry well when your throat is filled with ice. Not to mention, i doubt the cops will get here in time to get me. "He said in a cold menacing tone."I owe no one anything, i did once and it led me to your door step. Look i don't want to do this and you don't have to help but as long as you don't ye...God damn it!"

The newly stiched wound in his arm flared up making him incapable of maintain his hold on her. He stepped back clutching his wound a regretful look in his face. He sighed.

"I am accused of murder...A family in a few miles from here, well a wife and two kids of a friend...I was just at the wrong place at wrong time, the cops found me with them. I was use my powers to help the family and of course the assumed i did it."

Kali was not surprised or scared when she was pushed against the wall. If anything she looked even more angry than before. She was not easily intimidated and was not surprised at all when he winced at his arms 'glad I decided not to heal that one completely' she thought sourly.

She stood with her arms folded looking at him as he explained what had happened. When he finished explaining she didn't know what to think "well by the way you just 'attacked' me it isn't really helping your case if you hadn't done that, maybe I would believe you, but apparently you have a temper you don't know how to control." She shook her head and said "give me a good reason why I should believe you."

"Even the most docile animal will bite back when cornered and desperate. Someone of your profession would have seen it ast some point. "He said kneeling down on the floor, unsure if he could stand at his state."As for believing me, i admit i have no proof on me that would convince you. Hand me over if you wish. I made no secret of my gift to the police and you know how they are with us: innocent or not they will lock me up just to be safe or more. Maybe i won't get my day in court. Essentially what this means you are my judge and jury. are you convinced enough of my guilt without doubt to send me to the gallows? To send a fellow gifted to the wolves?"

Kali shrugged "your right, the most docile animal will bite with threatened but one, I didn't realize you were an animal and two, I highly doubt you are I docile little pup." She unfolded her arms and walked over to the couch and started sipping on her now cold tea.

When he made the statement about her having a giftand sending a 'fellow gifted' to the gallows she raised her eye brows, and looked directly at him "what in the world gave you the idea that I am gifted. I have no gift, I just do not fear those with the gift. They are no different than a normal person. Both can wield knifes and guns it is only how they get them or how they wield them that is different." She took a sip of her tea, "and further more, because of that I do not view them any differently, I think there are some normal people that need to be in jail as well as gifted. So don't start calling me you 'judge' because you decided to have the wrong friends." She snapped still looking at him. "If it hadn't been for me, you would probably be dead from blood loss"

"Human is an animal like any other, we procreate, eat, shit and repeat like other animals do. Anything else we do its to fill in the time in between or serve one of the purpose mentioned previously. We have flight or fight like all animals." He said before smirking at her denials of not being gifted. "Not a gifted? I am no medical professional but wounds i had don't heal in an hour. While similar wounds like the one in my arm is still in this state. You are gifted or you should publish your techniques and revolutionize medicine. If you are gifted and such an accepting soul, why bother with stiches and flaunt your gift?"

"Yes literally, we are animals, and yes we have the instincts of animals. But, we have the ability of reasoning and going against our instincts. THAT is what separates us, from them."

She didn't make any further comments to being gifted or not gifted. She didn't like lying and wasn't going to continue to. "Look Salis, not everyone accepts the gifted like I do, and because of that they all need to be careful who they show their gifts around to. Showing your gifts off to the officers was very foolish and probably will get you more publicity than a serial killer." Kali picked up the bowl of potato chips that she had been munching on earlier and started eating them again, offering some to Salis.

"Not like a did it intentionally, i was trying to control bleeding of one of the kids when the came in. You do realize this was a very stressful and unique situation" He said getting up to his fight though not without some difficulty."Also bad publicity is why i have become so intimate with your floor an hour earlier. So your not telling me anything i dont know...Which bring me back on topic, where do we go from here. I think i should get out of your hair before the cops arrive back here...Not sure how far i will get."

"Those cops aren't coming back, they are already 3 doors down. It will be safe enough for you to stay here tonight to get your strength, seeing you can't hardly stand, I don't think you have much choice. Just stay here tonight and tomorrow we will figure out what to do. I have a guest bedroom upstairs anyways. As long as I can trust you enough to not steal anything while I am asleep." She took a big gulp of her tea and looked back at him. "So, how did it happen? Did you just walk in the seine to find them already on the floor?" She was very curious how a man that seemed well witted could be so easily out witted by someone else. Even if he was a horrid judge of character she founds he whole situation fairly odd.

"Well, i am not gonna complain regarding that arrangement. Alright" He said sitting down on a chair rather than the couch not wanting to cause discomfort by sitting next to her. When she ask him about what happened he hunched over looking down on the floor his confidence and smile melted away to sadness."I prefer not speak of it now if you don't mind. Maybe tomorrow. Tonight has been a long night."

He sighed rubbing his eyes.

Kali nodded when she said he didn't want to talk about it "that is understandable, especially if they were friends" she thought for a second looking at him. "You are still in rough shape, if you don't think you came make it upstairs you can crash here on the couch and I will close the blinds so no one can see in. Either way doesn't it doesn't matter to me, the choice is yours." Kali got up put the chips on the little table in front of her and turned off the TV. "Or if you want some help getting upstairs I can do that too" she turned around looking at him waiting to see which option he would go with.

"No need to go to any trouble with me, with the week i had a couch looks like a king sized bed."He said smirking as he forced himself to stand and trudge to the couch. He sat down on the couch and began feeling it out for comfort. "Yeah, that would do nicely."He then looked at her directly and serious look in his face."And...Thanks, i know this evening hasn't gone exactly how you planned it."

Kali smiled at him and walked over to a closet and pulled out a blanket and pillow for him to sleep with. "No, it has gone better than I had planned. You are till alive and you haven't killed me yet," she winked at him. Handing him the blanket and pillow she said "I am sorry about your friends, I don't like seeing anyone get killed. Especially kids. If there is anything you need just holler, I will be able to hear you since my room is right above this room." She walked over to the windows and shut them one by one. "If you get hungry or anything, there is stuff in the fridge, help yourself," she added and she started walking up stairs.

She as never had someone sleep over at her house before. Let alone someone that was thought to be a murder. She had a feeling she wasn't going to get a whole lot of sleep tonight.
