The Trees Have Eyes

In a time unknown to us when dragons roamed the earth and knights fought to save princesses there was more that historians have forgotten. There was a culture, hidden in the forests that once covered our earth. The Paka Watu kept themselves secret to humans, living in the trees, expertly hiding in their branches, that was until a young Pakan girl got curious of human kind. She was captured by a band of slavers and taken to be sold in the royal cities. Her curiosity brings her face to face with many humans including the young apprentice of a (black smith, wizard, knight, bounty hunter, ranger, demon/dragon slayer, monk-- you choose) who aids in her escape and return to the forest

Personality: strong willed, brave, inquisitive, proud, selfless, and caring

Class: Paka Watu--hunter/healer

Bio: Liri was captured by slavers when her curiosity put her in danger. Being a rare species never before seen many think she is a demon and so selling her has been difficult. She has been sold and resold many times as she is very defiant.

She paced the cage she was placed in. The humans in the market place gawked at her, pointed at her. She hated them. She knew that in a moment they would once again be bidding her away. One man asked what she was and she hissed at him. Ignorant savages. Her purple eyes burrowed into him. Her black tail lashed from side to side. The iron bars confined her well. She'd tried to knaw on them, but found her teeth too frail. Her claws were also useless against it. She stopped center cage as the bidding began and her eyes beamed down on the crowd. She scoffed. More noblemen were bidding on her. There was something about them, they all thought they could tame her, beat her into submission, but she refused to behave like a caged animal. The pricing went up gradually.

Justin watch the bidding go up and he decided to try and help her from the group of people. "100 gold pieces" he shouted to the bidder. That was almost all of his life earnings but he found it was worth the try. He could afford for the girl to keep getting tortured as she was. So he decided to try and help her.

(Sorry for the late response)

it's fine :) ))

"Sold, to the mage!" the auctioneer exclaimed.

It took several men and a tightly tied rope to subdue Liri . She was dragged out and handed off to a mage who'd bid highest for her. She sighed and stared at the ground. Liri thought about her family and wondered what they'd been thinking happened to her after all this time. Her eyes shot back up to her new master as the paper work had been finished.

"There you are, Sir. Good luck taming this creature. Its not been accomplished yet. Enjoy it. This beast is now yours."

He just grabbed her gently bringing her away from the people once I arrive back to my house I untie here and I try to communicate to her. "Hi, I'm Justin and you are?" He knew she would attack him but he was willing to let her do that long as she can trust him. He didn't want to tame the girl nor did he want to hurt her.

As soon as she was untied she jumped away from him. Her first instinct was to flee, but experience had told her that did not typically work. She circled him as he spoke, watching him. She was almost fainted when he started to ask about her. No one had ever asked her name. It'd been so long that she almost forgot it. She found a chair and perched herself atop it.

"Liri." she answered. "Liri Kanoa." as she spoke the tip of her tail twitched. "Name is...Justin." she felt a bit awkward as her english was pretty poor. "Justin...not like others?"

"Nice to meet you, Liri." He smiled at her "Justin not like others" he replied to her question. He watched her react to things "Liri Trust Justin?" He asked to see if she could trust him

"Liri trust Justin?" she repeated. Her ears then drew back and she leaped away, going a ways away from him, further into the house. "No." she said sharply. "Trust is not given, is earned." her tail lashed from side. at that moment her stomach growled loudly.

"Hungry? What do you eat miss Liri" he says to her kindly trying to be friendly to her and he didn't want to make her angry at him as he was trying to be kind to her.

Liri made her way after him. She followed close, but not close enough that he could grab her. She sniffed the air. "Meat." she stated. "Rabbit. Rabbit is good to eat." as she spoke she perched herself on a kitchen counter and focused hard on english words."My people eat rabbit, deer, birds, and squirrels. Humans wrinkle their noses at squirrel. Does....Do humans not like squirrel? It is best when little else is found."

Liri laughed loudly. "You don't eat bird? That is sad. It is so good and meaty." she then licked her lips. "What then does Justin prepare?"

She followed him to the kitchen and perched on a counter top. "What is beef from? I want to know what creature is killed for it."

"Cows? The horned beasts with bells?" she tried to picture such a smell coming from the meat of the creatures she'd seen. She laughed, because the thought was far too ridiculous.

"It's not like that" he chuckled as he finished making the beef he handed one to her on a plate and he just walks over to his dinner table and he sits down and eats it.

She trotted over to the table and sat, expecting food. "I want know..." she started, thinking about her home and how kind this person was. "what do you want with me? What is his intentions?"

He handed her the other plate of beef "My intentions eh, they are to make you go home. That is my intentions" he said to her smiling. He never saw her kind before in his life. "What even are you?" He asked wanted to know

"Paka Watu." she said. "That is what my people are called." as soon as she'd answered his question she tore into the beef. She ate at his offering ravenously. It'd been days since she last ate.
