That Guy on the Other End of the Street
L2 Point, Mars: March, 2344

Someone has been killing the crew of the Phoenix. They just turn up dead, poison in their veins. No one seems to know the source of the deaths...

"Why are we passing up this planet? We should dock and flesh out our ship, these killings have gone on long enough!" A middle aged, dark skinned man spoke to his captain.

"We can not be slowed, do you know what's at stake? We're after the savior of our home!" Liya, the captain of The Phoenix, reprimanded her subordinate in a calm and collected voice. She stood fairly tall at around 5'10", though she was fairly thin for her height. Normally when asked where she was from she'd answer Earth, though to anyone from Earth, she was Chinese. Her dark green eyes in the stereotypical squint of her people. Her long dark hair flowed down to her lower back, straight as straight hair has ever been. She wears a commanding green overcoat which matches her eyes, along with black leggings and black combat boots.

Technically a pirate, she only ever set out to the stars to save her home. She has a family back on Earth, though Earth's been in rough shape for a while now. Ever since space travel has become popular people had been leaving the planet behind. With so many people wanting to explore, the government is left with little support, being forced to cover only a small area. Most of the world is now covered in lawless lands where the majority of the population lies, Liya's family among them.

"Sleeping will be done in shifts, and no one will be in a group smaller than three members large, is that understood?" Liya's commanding voice snapping the dark skinned man to action. "Yes Ma'am!" he replied with a confidence in his captain's abilities.

Eric was watching the captain commanding from the deck. He almost laughed at the irony. Here he was, just the ship controller, minding his business, when he knew there was a corpse moldering on the lower deck. He brushed his black hair out of his eyes, slipping the hypodermic needle back into his pocket. He looked out at the view over Mars. If there was anything good about the job, it was the view.

It's been a few days since The Phoenix has passed Mars and it's now approaching Jupiter. Little did many know, Jupiter actually contains a solid core which is habitable and even contains ruins from another civilization. This civilization is rumored to have been many dozens of millennium ahead of humans. This is where all of Liya's, and Earth's hope lie. There were still a few more weeks until they reached their destination though, and Liya was hoping that her crew weren't becoming complacent just yet.

I pull off my gloves, staring down at the new body I've made. The new poison worked wonderfully, with a kill time of - 2.3 seconds. Not bad at all. It's a bit far away from my slap-on-the-back kill I covet, but it's progress. Time to be off. I shove the gloves in a garbage disposal and jog off. By the time they find the body I should be well away. Should.
