Fantasy The Spirit Inside ~ Forest and Village

The chainmail underneath his leather armour clinked lightly with each step, not loud enough to scare away animals, but instead loud enough to keep them curious and usually sticking their head out of their holes, this was usually a great thing when he hunted, but his hunt was over, he had found prey and taken it down but it wouldn't be eaten by him, no something that diseasd must be reclaimed by the earth.

None of this troubled the Palsiet as he stared at the bird that lay unconscious in his hands, this would most likely be the friend of Belisair from earlier, and he would be more than happy to see him again, but he couldn't help but smile as he thought of a way to tease the young sylph, who would most likely start overreacting to his joke.

As Kyngerz stepped back into the camp that Belisair had made he raised the bird, holding it like a hunted partridge by it's feet out to the Fae "There we are, I have found dinner" he said, his smile having vanished only to be replaced by his usual cold expression, internally laughing hard enough that it made his grumbling stomach jiggle slightly.

"FLINT!!!", Belisair rushed forward and snatched the poor crow out of Kyngerz hands, "what is wrong with you? This is my friend! What did you do to him?!?"

Belisair wasn't furious but he definitely wasn't a happy camper right then, and the winds were definitely mirroring his mood. "How could you do that to him? You couldn't even eat-", Belisair stopped and took the time to make sure Flint was still breathing, he was.

"That was a really cruel joke... It was a joke right?"

Waiting to hear an answer but more worried about Flint, Belisair layed the bird on a soft patch of grass and began looking through his pockets for several minorbhealing potions. "Sadly Flint, I can't use the same potion as last time, it has a 30 day refractory period. I get you right as rain anyway. Right, Zeph?"

Luckily however Flint had gotten hurt, it had only dislocated his left wing and gave him a minor concussion. Belisair reset the wing and wrapped with herbs for the pain and swelling. Then he fed Flint small drop of 4 different potions to ensure various fixes to the body.

He then reached into ano thing er pocket and pulled out a length of clotch with which he made a sling to hold Flint in, close to his heart. As he turned around to face the stoic Palsiet, his face was the picture of calm, but the winds around him were still visibly churing.

"I would like it very much if you would explain how my little brother bird sustained such injuries..."

The Sylphs outburst of rage and worry would have caused the Palsiet to release the laughing he had been bottling up inside, but he decided to swallow it as the Sylph was obviously worried, and his control over the wind didn't seem to make his rage any subtler.

"I found him unconscious in the woods, he was being attacked by a diseased pack of Uoyst, of wolves. They had obviously been after him for a bit and I just so happened to arrive at the right time, all but one were slain. One must always survive" he said, his face remaining stern and truthful as he took a leaf from one of his pouches, and cut his thumb, drawing his silver blood and running it along the leafs midrib. "Here, apply this to the wound, this combination heals almost anything, but only for other races, not for ourselves. Through study I managed to find that our blood is immune to all manner of diseases, as our gods had not planned for them to exist in our time, this should heal him rather quickly and give him a shot of energy" he explained, holding the leaf out to the Fae.

Belisair tucked his hair behind his left ear, and the wind calmed somewhat, as he took the leaf and applied it to flint wounds.

"Thank you. And thank you for finding him. I was really worried." his voice is quiet.

Almost instantaneously, Flint's wounds are healed and his feather gain a new sheen. Though he should be able to wake up, he struggles and remains unconcious.

"He probably in a kind of shock. He'll wake up soon enough."

Belisair looked at the Palsiet again, "I'm sorry for blaming you. I just feel really attached to him for some reason. I've never felt so protective of a winged I've saved before."

Belisair undresses Flint's now healed wing and tears a strip with a drop of potion on it for the Palsiet's thumb, "here use this."

Belisair lifted Flint back into the sling. For some reason both sides of him needed to keep the bird close to him.

"Since you were not able to hunt anything worth eating, what would you like for breakfast?"

The palsiet smiled not accepting the Faes potion though as he spoke "I thank you for your kind gesture, but anything not from my age cannot heal me, so time will have to do" he explained before he sat back down on the log and pulled a black slab from his pouch and pit into it "I have food, I just enjoy the feeling of the hunt. As for your friend there" he nodded towards Flint "He seems to be witnessing visions of the past, his mind is searching for something, and until he finds it he shall now wake. Worry not, time in a dream moves differently from time in life." he explained, taking another large bite out of the black slab.

Flint lay on the gory operating table with the wizard towering over him. His forehead was covered with bloody splats across his face.

"You're just like me," the wizard said grinning with pleasure.

The crow's beak scrunched up from confusion as he said, "I'm nothing like you! You're a hateful human."

The wizard's lips moved in closer, "Hate encompasses all creatures, Flint. Even you."

The old man turned to leave the room sloshing his feet over pools of blood.

"Your dead old man," said the bird. "I am still very much alive. I won't become you. That's because I'm better than you. Belisair is my friend and you, nor anyone else will hurt him."

Flint's eye fluttered open. Over a dead campfire, ash floated up to the sky in tranquility. He turned his head away from the campfire and saw Belisair affectionately cocooning him with his soft arms.

Belisair nodded in understanding, placing the bandage back into a pocket.

"This may seem strange, but could I maybe get a sample of your blood one day? I'm sure I could synthesize some amazing concoctions with it." Belisair was content right now to just hold Flint and look on as the Palsiet ate.

It appeared that Belisair had taken an involuntary midday nap, in the shade. It was still chilly this far North so he added more wood to the fire and lit it with a fire stone. A few minutes after he had settled back and closed his eyes, Belisair felt a stirring in his arms, but just wrote it off as Flint moving in his sleep.

Flint, without hesitation, hugged the Sylph's face poking his blue eye's with the tips of his wings.

"It's you Belisair! I was so worried. What happened, did you escape?"

Flint, who still believed this ignorant deduction, squeezed Belisair's skull just in case his hallucinations tried to pull him away.

Belisair was both happy and bewildered, "You were worried about me? Why would you be worried? I was never in any danger."

Belisair was shaking with laughter, "From what Kyngerz told me, YOU was the one in danger AND you managed to drain the enchantment on the spear. Care to explain what exactly was goin on in that head of yours when I specifically left a note telling you I was exploring?" Belisair raised one eyebrow at the vrow noticing that he had yet to let go of his face, and lucky he had sylph eyes, which are used to harsh winds, so feathers were nothing. He frowned, "Flint are you? You seem a little more out of it than you should be."

"Oh Belisair," said Flint without yet knowing about Kyngerz. "I've been such an ass. I'm sorry that I was so rude to you. You've done so much for me yet I have never once bothered to really say thank you. My pride and anger towards humans has eaten me up from the inside. But that changes this day. From now on I am a new bird. Belisair? I what to let you know that I consider you my... f- f- FFFFFFFFFFFFF- Fr-"

Flint could not get it out.

He sighed and said, "You are my friendly ally. No let's get to that temple of yours."

Belisair beamed in pride as Flint had almost called him a friend, 'progress'.

"Speaking of allies, we have a new addition to our group", he turned Flint to face Kyngerz, "this is Kyngerz. He's decided to join us in out adventures for an indefinite duration; he's the one who found you and svaed you from being EATEN." Belisair had said the final word with an unnatural emphasis and a pointed stare at said Palsiet.

"We will be heading to the temple shortly, but there are two things we need to do first.

Kyngerz bowed his head slightly, before placing his fore and ring finger over his eye and his thumb onto his sharply outlined cheekbone before stretching out his arm to point them to the sky, greeting Flint the same way that he greeted Bel earlier "I am Kyngerz Plagkets, Oracle of the Palsiet, Slayer of the great Ice Dragon Fer^Thung, and one of the great commanders in the Great war of Beings. Chevessty be err Vynka Stivi, Gods be With you black bird." he greeted the bird, that the bird spoke did not phase him as he had witnessed many a strange thing in his long life.

Flint gawked at the massive stranger. Looking directly into his blue eyes, his wings turned a tad shade of crimson. When the crow noticed Kyngerz's pink fleshy skin the bird began to huff and puff. The man had neither fur nor feathers. In the crows mind, all these features pointed to only one conclusion. This monstrous behemoth was a human being.

"I don't believe this. This- THING want's to join us. This jumbo sized freak of nature has the audacity to think he can just prance up to us like a pampered pony and join our team. Well I'll be damned before I let this hulking human go anywhere near us. Dragon slayer- that's a gas!"

Flint suddenly leaped out of Belisair's hold. The bird was fuming. Every one of his feathers were up in arms, ready to fly off his tense body. He darted across the camp field like a crazed devil. Kicking up dirt and chucking random objects along his path. He huddled a rock three times his size into a nearby stream in frustration.

Belisair hadn't meant to drop the bomb like that realizing that Kyngerz would look like a normal human to any mortal let alone a bird with trust issues. By all rights, if Flint had taken a moment to really LOOK his animal senses would have picked up the presence that Kyngerz exuded.

"Flint. Flint please calm down. FLINT! ENOUGH!", Belisair's mood was quickly souring in the face of such a childish display; the skies darkened for just a moment as clouds were blown before the sun.

"Kyngerz is not a human, he is far older. He's a Palsiet, his people are just as old as the Sylphs, when they became more than just Wind. He saved your life and cut himself to heal you with his blood. I WILL NOT allow you to disrespect him in such a manner. Bring yourself to heel immediately and apologize, before I lose my temper."

Belisair was definitely aggravated, but it was obvious to bird and Palsiet alike that that wasn't the root of the problem. He was hurt that Flint would believe that Belisair would join with a human knowing that they made Flint uncomfortable.

"I'm going for a walk, when I get back this whole situation better be squashed.", he didn't stomp off so much as wind stride with purpose.

The bird, slowly calming down, watch as friend left him on bad terms. Flint had never seen him enraged. Belisair's display of frustration had shocked the crow to the bone. Everything the wizard and his minion did to him never scared the crow in the slightest. On the contrary, it gave him his fearless spirit. He did not want his companion to be irritated at him. He made a promised to change his ways and that was what he was going to do.

Still not trusting the intimidating human, Flint said to Kyngerz, "So uh... How's it going?"

The Palsiet chuckled, "It's not often that I am called a Human, as most humans Avoid me because of how strange I look and speak. how am I to gain your Trust? After all, I did save your hide from a pack of Diseased Uoyst, Wolves. Most species would find this honourable enough. Yet it seems you distrust humans, they mistreated you didn't they, As I carried you I caught Glimpses of your past though not much as my Chev Ryntek, my God given Power has weakened over the ages." he said, his eyes always keeping watch over the Bird, with the occasional glance in the Direction Bel had disappeared off to.

It had been a while since he had traveled with a group, the last was a young Wizard who enjoyed experimenting with spells, to his dismay he ended up blowing himself up, yet that didn't kill him, it gave him the power of coming back to life always after he died, however this caused him to go insane, his dragon was transformed into a staff which he frequently talked to and caused him to only be able to use portal spells.

Lila stood, with a glance at McKane, she let the blanket fall from her shoulders. Grasping it gently in her scaled hands, she delicately draped it around him. It was too much, she had been far to forward with this man, still essentially a stranger, had even pleaded for him to take her with him. She was imposing and being a nuisance to him. Of these things she felt certain, with the softest of sighs, Lila began to move away from McKane.

His warmth and presence had been greatly appreciated, as both had been greatly needed, but Lila'Vjola did not want to impose upon such kindness, and certainly not for too long. One never knew when the kindness of another would abruptly end and turn to cruelty. So on delicate feet, Lila moved quietly away from McKane, whom she assumed was still sleeping. Cautiously, Lila picked her way through the forest, not really sure of which direction she should be headed, nor was she sure of the direction she had originally come from.

Kyngerz's booming voice reverberated in Flint's small delicate ears. Flint gnashed his beak at the 'human's' haughty stance. This 'THING' did not know him. Kyngerz could not comprehend the pain and suffering the bird underwent, even with his powers. He didn't meet him when Flint's body was covered with deep gashes. However, Flint had to be nice to 'it' for Belisair's sake. Besides, the bird needed the mountainous man to trust him until the perfect opportunity.

The crow chuckled unconvincingly, "Ha! I fooled you with that outburst, didn't I? You really thought I hated you. Don't worry, it was all an elaborate joke. I enjoy a good gag now and then. Don't you?"

Dia stopped short. She had just witnessed a huge man slay wolves and then pick up a large dead bird. Her hand was still on her bow. She was ready to strike when she first came upon the man and wolves, but she quickly saw that the man needed no help. He had magic she had not seen in her land before. His blade seemed to freeze the enemy. "Wow..." She said as he walked off into the woods. She followed him out of curiosity. The old saying, "Curiosity killed the cat." never phased her. She liked to add, "Don't forget cats have 9 lves."

She crept in the shadows of the bushes as she saw another being fussing over the bird and then the bird awoke, talking! She smiled, Dia had only experienced talking animals once, and this was with cats back home. She had no idea of the gruesome treatment this bird wet through to have such an ability. She almost exposed herself out of excitement but chose not to as the bird went squawking and kicking around talking of humans. She was human after all.. well mostly.

She thought for a moment. Maybe they can help me locate the old witch. "... but I can do it myself" Dia was very stubborn.

Ebele shuffled through the forest, with a bag filled with supplies on her back. Sweat beaded on her forehead, and her breath was short. The night before was hard. Full moons meant worse transformations. She decided to take a break, and sat on a log, pulling a flask from her back. It was only filled with water, since being drunk would affect her wolf form... A bit badly in fact. She decided to hum in the mean time of her break, and decided to sing instead. No one else was around, why not?

As she sat there she decided against it and turned away to go around the group of beings. She did not know them nor their intensions and she already saw that the bird did NOT want any human travelers along with them. She made sure to go out of the way enough as to not be seen as she made her way around. She began walking slowly, touching the trees as she passed them. Finally at one of the biggest trees she stopped and began to climb. She was regaining her sense of direction, since she had lost it a bit after going down the cliff and following the stranger. She climbed till she could see the tops of other trees. She could also see the town of Thoranhall in the distance. Smoke billowing up from taverns and homes. As she climbed back down her stomach turned. She was so very hungry. And would not be able to make it into town without getting something to eat first. She started to forage, gathering greens that she saw on the forest floor. She did not hunt as she didn't eat flesh. Dia only ate from the Earth, something her family didn't approve of, so occasionally she ate fish, usually at family gatherings and traditional rituals. She looked down and saw that she had gathered quite a bit of food for herself. She sat down leaning on a tree an took out a container of water and rinsed her food, then took a sip and whispered a few words. Leaning back she began to eat. Still thinking about the bird and 2 other beings she had seen, and also of the witch she was to meet soon.

The Old Palsiet was not convinced by the Birds lies "I know your hate, but I assure you I am no human. Your hate runs deeper then I know, but I will always understand for it is the same Hate that burns when I remember he who betrayed my kind, and caused for the gods to try and Exterminate my race, worst of all he still lives, he was the one who created corruption amongst my kind, he was the one who showed the wizards what kind of dark magics they could create and he was the one who started the Great war of Beings. In a strange and twisted way Kay^Haas is the one who led to your fate, and also to many of mine." he said, his face cold and emotionless with grief, he understood what the Bird was feeling, but he could not help him, this was a personal fight.
