The Second Griffon War (Casual Thread - All welcome!)

"Just... chill out for a while." Aurelia said while coming over and wrapping a leg around Starstreak's shoulders. She yawned tiredly and brushed whatever little sleep she did have in her eyes away. "If you stay up for to long, you'll make mistakes. And if you make mistakes, you'll get hurt or worse! So that means it's time for bed." She said while leading Star away from the workshop. "What time is it, anyway? Doesn't feel like I slept for very long at all."

Yes ... relaxing for a while would probably do her some good. Luna had already ordered her once before to take a rest from working, something she's sure doesn't happen very often. Maybe it would be best to follow Aurelia's suggestion as well and do this for herself. She was going to wear her body out at this point and it was already exhausted. She just had some trouble sleeping with all the things going on. Imagining what her weapons were doing ...

She shook her head. "Yeah ... yeah." She agreed quietly, leaning her head against Aurelia and following along. She looked up at the moon to try and judge the time of day. "It's past midnight, I think probably around 2 AM ... that's just my estimate from the position of the moon, anyway." Would Luna be proud of her for being able to do that? Maybe. "I'm sorry for waking you up, 'Relly."

"Why did they invade us anyways. What did we ever do to them. Now because of them things are going to be harder than ever. And not just for me but for every pony." He said

"Wow, judging the time by the Moon's position in the sky. Truly remarkable." Aurelia remarked with an arched eyebrow and a slight grin. She could do the same of course, simply because she was a nocturnal predatory bat monstrosity and being able to tell when the sun was about to rise was rather important for keeping your eyes unharmed. There was a reason she wore sunglasses all day every day.

Soon enough they were out of the workshop and onto the stone floor of Canterlot Mountains interior.

Obviously they weren't in the city. It was abandoned and everyone was locked inside the mountain.

The inside of Canterlot Mountain was practically a city by itself, though. Winding passages going up, buildings carved into the walls... (think dwarves)

Starstreak shrugged her shoulders, looking away with a dusting of red on her cheeks. "I-I stargaze sometimes ..." she muttered. It wasn't something to be embarrassed about, she just wasn't used to compliments. When it came from Aurelia, anyway. Everybody else got the usual reaction; she thought they were lying. Which, case in point, they typically were, but not in the malicious ways she thought they were. They tried to get on her good side for promotions.

Never gonna happen.

She glanced around at the structures inside the mountain, sighing quietly. It wasn't something bad, more like out of relief. Her body was sore and she was getting to stretch it finally. "It feels kind of nice to be walking around instead of holed up in my workshop ... thing. Brother always said that I was going to eventually kill myself from how much I work."

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof
"Technically you are holed up. You're just holed up inside a mountain rather than in a workshop inside a mountain!" Aurelia chuckled slightly, wide awake now that they were out of that dusty old hole in the ground and inside this slightly less dusty hole in the ground. She glanced around at the interior of the mountain, looking as if it had been hallowed out from how much room this city took up. Of course, the city barely made a dent in the actual inside of the mountain itself, but the mere fact that this city even existed was a miracle.

It was about half the size of Canterlot, but the whole facility was built for housing refugees. Meaning the buildings inside the mountain were massive. Thousands of ponies could fit in them comfortable, such is how they were laid out, with many levels rising above the base of each building. Other than the general public living area, there was a place for nobles... Obviously. If the nobles didn't get their own place away from the 'peasantry', they'd bitch and moan... And then Luna would probably kill them all.

Celestia knew it was just better to keep the nobles happy than to have them start complaining. So she had their private residence built, along with houses for esteemed guests.

Aurelia and Starstreak had been given an 'esteemed guest' house. It was separate and on its own inside the mountain, with a fully functional kitchen and everything!

Starstreak could appreciate the architecture of this place. While she certainly didn't have a degree in construction, she did have a degree in multiple fields of science and engineering. This was a feat of engineering all on its own, something she would probably have a hard-on for if she actually had the correct 'equipment' for it. She didn't particularly enjoy keeping that around. She preferred being female still.

She didn't make any objections to getting their own lodging. It would have been difficult to do things with the others, and Harmony knew how much she liked to tinker in her down time. Usually they were very small projects, just time-consuming things to keep her busy. Occasionally, they were large projects that happened to take a much larger role ... like her trains. It had originally just been something she was working on because she wanted to. Most of the materials for it beforehand she had been buying with her own money on whatever she made from her job. It was fun but left her broke often.

She had to break out of her reverie lest she start constructing this entire place within her head. "I suppose you're not wrong. I doubt it's good for my health." She giggled. "I like my workshops."

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof
"I know you do, Star. I know. Maybe a little too much?" Aurelia asked with a slight, barely noticeable tilt of her head. Soon enough they were home again, or at least at their temporary home. Starstreak should definitely talk to Luna about getting a workshop added to this building for future use... Assuming there was another war within her lifetime.

Aurelia immediately went over to the fridge and pulled out a nice cooled cup of... Blood. Yuuum? Well for her it was anyway.

She nodded her head slightly. "Yes ... maybe a little too much. I might have to look into a therapist because this may be becoming an obsession."

Maybe it would be a good idea to take some breaks from work. While it would be a bad idea to do it now because of the war, when this was all over ... yes. Take some time off properly, check in every now and then to make sure things are going okay. She needed to put some distance between herself and work. It almost feels like it's starting to consume her at this point, which was worrisome. She wanted more time to do her own things anyway. Of course, perhaps even things with Aurelia?

She went and sat down at at the table, huffing. "I'm gonna see about actually taking some time off once the war is done."

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof
Aurelia nodded her head and sipped at her disgusting but delicious blood coffee. Yes, that's correct. Blood coffee. Now she was going to be buzzing all night, just like she wanted! Poor Starstreak would just have to deal with it. "I'm taking time off, too! It's called PTSD, and I am going to a professional for help! Ha!" She pulls out a chair and sits down at the table, holding her blood coffee out for the hippogriff. "Wanna try some? :l" She asks with a straight face.

Dreamweaver Dreamweaver
Starstreak looked at Aurelia as if she were insane. Did she want to try her blood coffee? Was she serious right there? Slowly but surely, Star's face turned into a sour one of slight disgust at the idea of drinking blood herself. She didn't mind that Aurelia did it, 'tis was only natural for her, but Star definitely wasn't going to be doing that. No sir, she was a hippogriffon (unfortunately for the last part), not a bat pony. Hell no.

"I ... I think I'll pass, Aurelia, thanks," she said, inwardly trying not to gag at the thought of it. "I'll stick with regular coffee."

Cassian would have been amused by the title Expellix. Unfortunately upon mentioning the dragons that suddenly showed up, the young dragon's experssion dropped into a scowl. Just knowing that his own kind was involved made him sick to his stomach. As much as he denied his heritage, he internally wishes he was fully grown.

"Why were they involved? Don't dragon's normally keep to themselves?", Cass asked with some difficultly hiding his anger from that faint growl. His nostril slightly flared, wishing there was some way he could have helped stop them.

It was the middle of the day for Equestria. The sun was reaching its midpoint in the sky, starting it's slow descent back towards the horizon, where it would fall under and then the moon will turn the world into night. Ponies everywhere were still active after the battle for Canterlot. There was still healing to be done, bodies to bury, and mourning to be done. Except that was for ponies.

Gunnolf carried on quietly after the fact, deciding it was best that he found somewhere else to be. He was as much a hindrance to them as he would have been to himself if he decided to stay and help. His size simply made things difficult, knocking things around accidentally. Canterlot was not made for something of his size, especially not those dusty tunnels. He decided to lay down beside a pond.

He let out a sigh and winced, his muscles still sore from the fighting. The burn scars on his chest still stung badly, but at least they had been tended to for what was possible at the time. Nature would just have to take its course and heal naturally. Fur would never grow there again after such bad scarring, unfortunately, and that was perhaps the fact that bothered him the most. He had plenty of scars underneath his fur, but now he just felt ... vulnerable. His pelt was like a cocoon. Now it was broken open. He'd do it all again in a heartbeat, though.

He rested his head on his paws, ears twitching and looking down at the water.

Expellix shrugged his shoulders at Cassian. He was unsure of the behavioral patterns of dragons. The most he knew was that most of them had extreme temperamental issues, mostly in the fact that they had anger management problems. Plus, snorting whatever vile 'breath' they naturally produced was another thing entirely. Frost, fire, poison mist, light, sound waves ... he couldn't imagine if a dragon breathed sonic waves at him. He might go deaf from how sensitive his ears are.

"I'd assume that the griffons convinced them somehow." He said. Dragons did like treasure a lot, didn't they? He had heard about their greed. "I've heard that many dragons are greedy. Maybe they were promised treasure?"

"You appear hurt." came a voice behind Gunnolf. When he turned around he would see Harmony standing there, albeit she was taller than last time. Specifically about a foot taller than him. Because a Goddess can't look up at someone; they have to look down. She took a seat on her knees beside the wolf and stared at him for a moment before simply humming. "You are strange. For one who grew to adulthood in my forest, there is not much bestial about you."

Gunnolf's ears perked up and he slowly raised his—he would have quickly, but if they had been able to sneak up on him in the first place, that means they already had plenty of time to kill him. He just wasn't so stupid as to think there would be any reason otherwise. Hurt or not, he was very capable of killing an aggressive as long as they weren't something ridiculous.

One of those things he can't kill is an alicorn. An alicorn goddess of the universe. Oh boy ...

He had only seen her at the wedding. They hadn't exchanged words and he barely even looked her way, not out of insult, but just because ... well, it was rude to stare, wasn't it? He nodded his head slightly, confused why Harmony was talking to him, of all creatures. "Yes, I am. It happens." He said coolly, but nodded his head in respect. "I suppose I just wasn't raised right. If Luna's theory is correct, I'm not naturally of this particular world. Something about a 'Faerun.'"

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof
"My daughter's theory would be correct. You're better off here than there, trust me. Faerun is... A rather violent place. The deities of that realm are not kind to their people, and the creatures of the Everfree Forest instead roam Faerun freely." She shook her head slightly and looked down into the pond for a moment before looking back over at him. "Regardless, it does not matter where you came from, only that you are here now. I simply wish to know how you grew into adulthood in the Everfree Forest, as you mortals call it, while maintaining such a calm demeanor."

Dreamweaver Dreamweaver
Gunnolf nodded slightly at her, eyebrows creased in thought. That certainly crossed some things off the bucket list, but could others like him really exist there in wherever 'Faerun' is? He wished he could know sometimes, just to be sure. But then he may never get to come back ... the risks outweighed the pros. He wasn't ready to give up the life he had here. He wasn't ready to just leave his family after he had just gotten it. He doubted anyone would really be affected by his absence, they were immortals really, but damnit he would be.

At the question, he frowned and closed his eyes. "If I could recall my specifics thoughts I would tell you. Even as a pup I spent most of my time hunting the smaller creatures and avoiding anything I didn't trust. When I grew big enough, some ponies took notice." He opened his eyes, looking down at the water. "They called to me. Wanted me to come closer. They talked to me. One in particular would come often, as if they had nothing better to do with their time than chat to a creature who couldn't even respond back. Eventually, I learned how to speak your language, and then out came the telepathy." He shrugged his shoulders. "After that, the rest is history. You could say that pony was the one who started the fire that is me, I probably would have become something much different if they hadn't spent their time with me."

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof

"And you've heard right....", the young drake's irritated demeanor dropped into a regretful sigh. "It's part of our nature that makes us who we are. So were not all that social, as far as I know. Personally, I beleive it's more like a curse", he explains.

But then he realized what he just said and waved his claw to Expellix in a reassuring gesture. "B-But don't worry ^^'. I have my greed nature under control. So you won't catch me raiding any treasures or anything. Preferably, I'd like to find or make my own",he explained

Wylfen Shepard Wylfen Shepard
Expellix reached up, his ear drooping down the side of his head so he could gently scratch it. "You can't change who you are. But you can ... well, you can direct it in a healthy way, I think. I think that's what most of us do, we all have some skeletons in our closets." He sighed. "I'm no exception."

He did indeed have a few skeletons in his closet, not as many as you might think, they were considerable for him. This whole 'society' thing was new to him. Talking to ponies hadn't been a thing for him until recently, a scarce few months ago he had been isolated still. He smiled gently. "Just do the best you can."

Dumbledoof Dumbledoof

Cass tried not to show it, but the kind gesture from the physical contact the strange rabbit gave calmed the young drake. He nods his head at Explellix's advice. Even though he was once told the same thing once before, it was nice to hear it again. "It's basically why I chose the path I'm on now. I never liked the idea of growing into a greedy fire-breathing monster", he gave a friendly smirk before dropping into a frown once again. "Thanks...ive been wanting to hear that again", he sighed. The nice moment he was having reminded him of the kind ponies that welcomed Cassian with open arms.

"Ponyville.....so many poor ponies lost thier homes in the blink of an eye. And there was nothing we could do", his claws tightened.

Despite there being a war going on, Equestria wasn't going to let the citizens not have any fun. Deep within the mountain of Canterlot, the Nightmare Night celebration was on in full swing. Decorations had been brought, costumes had been stitched together, and foals were out and about getting candy. This was the one day in the months of war that the citizens could actually have fun and not think about the threat outside.

Not everyone was inside Canterlot Mountain, though. The guards still had patrols to do, and some citizens still made trips to their houses to grab heirlooms and other such valuables. These trips were always made with escorts; entry out of the Mountain was strictly forbidden.

Unfortunately some ponies just didn't care about those silly laws. One of whom was the noblemare/supermodel Fleur De Lis.

She was currently sitting in a closed down candy shop just sort of munching away. It was technically stealing, but she let a few big bags of bits on the counter to compensate...

How did she even get here?

Arcus, patrolling the streets in full armor, stopped outside the candy store, and peered in. She scowled, and knocked on the door. "What are you doing?" She demanded.

Fleur wasn't a dumb mare. She knew had grown up using her charm to keep herself out of sticky situations, and this situation was no different. She was caught trespassing and stealing by a guard, and would no doubt get a firm slap on the hoof for that. But she wasn't worried. Fleur knew just how to handle this..

She hid under the table. Surely that would trick the guard into thinking nopony was actually in there!

It was a cunning strategy! Yet it was not smart enough to evade the wit and guil of the (soon-to-be...?) Solar Commander. She went to the table and looked under it, recognising the model/trophy wife pretty quickly. "Fleur-De-Lis?"
