The Second Griffon War (Casual Thread - All welcome!)

Expellix nodded his head at Cassian. "I'm Expellix, just as a reminder to you. My memory isn't so great, but if I see you around enough times I'll remember." He would have smiled, but his jaw was broken. He would have smiled but he had just made a blatant lie. Not that anybody would ever know he had perfect memory. Seeing or hearing something once was enough for him to know it forever.

He gingerly rubbed the bandages of his face. "Well, of course. I should put my skills to use in the battle. You didn't see me? I had the griffons on the run." He shook his head slightly. Very slightly, he didn't want to hurt himself again. "I can handle it. I'm just waiting until I'm strong enough to heal myself with my light magic right now. It won't be long until I'm back in top condition again. Thanks for the offer, though."

"I am out hunting, Expellix. I'm just not after hydras or vampires tonight." She replied curtly, eyes gazing down at the Solar Guard barracks below them. In the dark of night, one could see the dim blue glow surrounding her eyes; not enough to really notice without looking, but very noticeable when looking at it. After a few minutes of waiting, the door to the Solar barracks opened and a crowd of soldiers came rushing out. Their shifts were done, and it was time to go home as another shift of guards took their place. There had to be well over 300 guards finishing up their shift right now, and the swarm in front of the barracks was immense.

Luna scanned the crowd for about half a second and then muttered, "There we go. Follow me, please. No teleporting; the flash can give you away." She said before disappearing in a puff of shadow and reappearing some four rooftops over, looking down at the ground. There were far less guards walking this way, perhaps only 50.

If she was hunting, but she wasn't hunting monsters, what could she be after on this night? There was a piece of this puzzle that he wasn't given yet. That or something just wasn't fitting. The fact that they were stalking the Solar Guard barracks was something that he thought was ... well, unusual. These ponies are supposed to be on their side, right? Working for Princess Celestia? Something was amiss.

Expellix couldn't disappear via clouds of smoke, but he could do one thing; hop. It was very easy for him to jump across or down rooftops, even up them. The perks of a bunny was that while most of his wasn't strong, his back legs were incredible. Leaping up over seven feet was a normal thing for him. If he couldn't make it normally, he could even just magically enhance his jump to go far above and beyond what he could do with physical abilities alone. Not that it was really required in most cases ...

He landed next to Luna, glancing down at the guards. He narrowed his eyes, able to get a much clearer look now that they were closer. He recognized most of them, even their individual names. "What are we doing?" He asked telepathically to her. He didn't want to be heard. "Is there something wrong with these guards?"

"Just one of them." Luna answered abruptly, no other words coming from her at all. She just glanced at Expellix and held a hoof over her mouth, motioning for silence.

They followed the group of guards for around 5 minutes, and in that 5 minutes the group had almost completely dispersed. The friends had all said goodbye, and then headed for their homes. It was now just one guard whom they were stalking, walking alone down the streets of Canterlot, heading for the rich part of town. He had a dark gray coat and black mane, combed neatly to the side, and had a suit on as if he was attending something important. Considering he was heading to the rich part of town, it was a good bet that he was attending something.

After another 20 minutes of stalking the guard, they finally see where he was heading. It was a mansion, on top of a hill. As the two of them creep closer, hiding behind some bushes, they see more of what's going on in the mansion. There were two guards by the door, armed with swords, who stop him for a brief moment before happily slapping him on the back and letting him into the building. Through the door, Expellix and Luna could both see an elderly stallion in a chair, hooked up to life support and surrounded by dozens of friends and family. Actually, elderly was an understatement. He was so old that he looked already dead.

He was not, though, considering he was on life support he probably didn't have long left.

"That old one is a stallion named Crimson Duskshine. He's connected to things such as drug dealing, pony trafficking, murder, extortion, political bribery, and so on so forth. Today is also his one-hundredth birthday!" Luna reaches under her cloak and pulls out this:

She then pulls up her hood and... Doesn't look like Luna anymore. One second she's a small earth pony mare with orange fur and hair, then she's a pegasus with black fur and white hair, then she's a unicorn... It was like watching someone click the 'randomize' button on a Skyrim character over and over :l

"I'll deal with the two guards, march in there, and shoot him. It will take 2 seconds for them to get over the surprise of me arriving, and 4 seconds after the loud gunshot that they can properly formulate a defense. I'm walking in, shooting him, and walking out. After those 4 seconds when they overcome their confusion, I want you to kill any guard that comes through that door."

Expellix was surprised by that answer, but didn't question it. He knew better than that—not because Luna would get angry over it, but because she had a reason for this. He didn't say anything further.

He followed along dutifully, staying dead silent for the entire venture. His eyes never left the group of guards, except to note the locations of each one. Every bit of information he could gain about these ponies now was being permanently stored in his memory for perusing at a later date. He didn't know which one of them they were hunting. So, naturally, he assumed every single one of them might be a target. Even if they weren't, he wanted to know just in case he ever needed to. The future was a mysterious thing.

At the sight of that particular stallion, Expellix finally knew which one they were stalking. He couldn't recall a name for this one, most likely because he hadn't heard the name and was able to place it to the face yet. What a strange thing to come walking out in from guard duty ... what pony just casually dresses in a suit? That was just painting a target on the back of your head from some robber in the city. Even in Canterlot he suspected that there would be a few bums wandering around, waiting to pounce on some rich pony like him.

He nodded at the instructions, glancing over the gun, and then glancing over Luna. So she could shapeshift. He didn't know that. Well, knowing is only half the battle. He would be keeping her appearance in mind, lest he accidentally try to put an axe in her face. That would end well, surely.

Luna gave him a nod, and then vanished from sight. Barely a moment after the stallion they had stalked walked through the door and closed it, she reappeared in front of the guards there. "Wh-" one of them started to mutter, before a force grabbed them by the necks, lifted them into the air, and broke their spines like a child breaking a stick in half. Not a single sound was heard by Expellix's keen hearing except for the 'Wh-' that the one guard had muttered. Certainly nobody inside the party could have heard that.

The guards vanished from sight, and Luna took a step back to examine the door. No wards or traps on it, though she wouldn't be slowed by them anyway. She reached into the lock with her magic and simply unlocked it. She then swung the door open and marched in, disappearing from Expellix's view for a few brief moments.

Barely half a breath later, a massive BANG resounded through the house, followed by screams of terror and shouts of anger. Just as predicted, the guards were not expecting such a brazen attack and had no real force in place to combat it immediately. They were stunned, to put it lightly. Luna turned and walked out of the house, disappearing once again from sight...

Right as 70 armed guards rushed out the doorway.

Expellix followed shortly after Luna to the mansion, stopping outside the doorway after she had killed the guards. While there may not have been any magical wards on the doorway, he wasn't going to be above placing his own little traps. He unsheathed some of the claws on his right hand, drawing it across his palm and slitting it wide open. He didn't wince from the pain at all, instead just dabbed in the blood and began writing a rune in the middle of the pathway leading up to the house. Just a little something in case he needed it. If things went south, he was going to blow something—or somebodies—up.

He was quick about the rune, straightening back up and healing his hand right as Luna would have walked out the door. He didn't acknowledge the mare at all, simply going up to the side of the doorway. Magic charged in his paw, humming quietly under the clamor that was happening. Right as he heard a hoofstep about to exit the doorway, he jumped out and shoved his paw forward. A burst of magic blasted out, highly concentrated in a line. It was strong enough to put a hole straight through the chests of a few of the guards at once, but there were quite a bit more than a few guards. And he just alerted them they were still under attack.

He dashed away down the path, coming to a halt on the other side of the runic circle he made and waited. It was their move now.

"Well alright then. But if your problem gets in the way, my offer still stands.", Cass regarded the magical rabbit. Generally, Every experienced fighter has a warrior's pride. So the young dragon knew better than to push his need to help others unless the situation calls for it. "Hopfully the next time you get into a fight, it doesn't fall off on you. Can't make a brawl interesting if you don't have a mouth to make sappy comebacks", the young dragon smirks with a friendly chuckle.

"And no I didn't. I was busy jumping from building to building, taking out enemies in the air", he explained while gesturing to his bow and quiver of arrows he was carrying along with his large magic enchanted sword and a long bandaged object that appeared to be some sort of mage's staff. Unknowingly to Cassian, it was emmiting an ancient powerful aura.

Regardless, the young dragon finished the rest of his side story on the fight for ponyville. "Then I helped a group escape to the station and then I helped hold off the enemy while the residents escaped"

Expellix shook his head. "The next fight isn't going to be happening for a while yet. I have plenty of time to sort this out." He said shortly. "Light magic is just as good as nature magic. I'll be able to heal myself when the day is out. This isn't that important at the moment, its just me waiting." He wasn't one for making snide quips in the middle of a fight anyway. It was a fight to the death, not a verbal squabble. He couldn't afford to get distracted in battle.

He glanced over the bow and quiver, and the rest of his gear, he shrugged. Everybody seems to have some 'ancient artifact' these days, something or other. He really didn't care enough to go looking for something like that. Not that it was needed anyway, he was fine enough with just his magic and few weapons he had. He was strong enough to deal with most threats that came his way. A mage staff wasn't that useful when you could cast everything with just your paws just fine.

"I was just keeping the griffons busy until it was time to go. We weren't going to win that fight, especially not after the dragons came." He rumbled. "Last time I was out, they apparently didn't like me. Something about a 'Killer Bunny of Equestria.'"

The battle for Canterlot had taken a toll on Gunnolf. He hadn't gone in overconfident, but he did not expect the type of warfare that ponies and griffon waged. Throwing a firebomb at him was one thing he hadn't dealt with before, especially one that managed to keep igniting itself. That had been a bit panic inducing when it had happened, especially right on his chest.

That encounter lead to him having burns on his chest. They could have been much worse, but the fur there was just ... Gone. Most of it had been singed or burned black around the edges of the injuries. The actual spots themselves were an angry red and were quite painful, some places having bubbled up slightly. It certainly wasn't a pretty sight to behold.

He currently sat in one of the many medical facilities, allowing the ponies to tend to his injury however they saw fit. He always scared them slightly when he would let out a slight growl of pain, though, to which he immediately had to reassure them that nothing was wrong. He looked miserable.

At the infirmary, Galagus limped on in and flopped down at an open spot, coincidentally next to the large wolf, where he could rest. The last battle hadn't been his fan favorite either. After a non stop day of fighting and using magic he was worn completely down. He did have a few cuts and bruises as he was lucky enough to get away from everything completly free. But for a blind pony he was less injured than he should be. But it was all thanks to Flax, whom without Galagus would surely be dead. Though the poor bird was also worn out and was simply sprawled across Galagus's back instead of his usual perch on his head

Gunnolf noticed when Galagus suddenly came down beside him, snapping his head in that direction. Despite the fact that the battle was over, he was still on high alert from it. He found it difficult trying to calm his senses, they just didn't want to stop telling him every little detail of the environment. Which, honestly, could still save his life so he wasn't quite tired enough to warrant complaining about it. Maybe he could get Luna to force him to sleep if it became too much ...

"Tired, are you, Galagus?" He asked, remember the pony's name from when it was said in battle. "It's been a long day."

Galagus was a little surprised by the sound of someone talkin to him. Not many did so, and with Flax completely incapacitated he couldn't see who was talking. "Umm, yeah... It's been... Very long. Too long." He wheezed. "Mind I ask who's talking. I can't see at the moment."

Gunnolf chuckled quietly. Right, not many were used to him speaking through telepathy, and he hadn't ever spoken to Galagus yet. Not even during he battle. "Look beside yourself, little one. I am the wolf." He said gently.

"Ah, my apologies. I'm right to your left, little one. You can feel my foreleg if you reach over. I'm rather large so it is difficult to miss." He responded promptly. He leaned over, sniffing Galagus. "If it would help at all, I've been told my fluff makes a great pillow."

Galagus tapped his hoof around to his left feeling for the one talking to him. However when he finally reached his paw it took him a minute to figure out just what he was feeling. "Is this you?" He said.

Gunnolf nodded his head. "Yes, that is me." He answered promptly. "My name is Gunnolf. I fought beside you during the battle. I was the one that got caught on fire."

Galagus nodded and pulled the rest of him up to Gunnolf to simply lay on his paw. It was definitely better than the floor from before. Flax still lay on Galagus's back however starting to recover. "Yeah... I remember that. It definitely wasn't making things easy."

Gunnolf grumbled slightly. One of the healers had come back to start working on his burns once more. He lifted his head up. "Yes, well, it isn't the most fun thing in the world to have burn scars on your chest. I'm never going to get that fur back."

"Heh, I've been burned before. Such happens when you play with fire magic. Though my fur managed to grow back. Who knows, maybe yours will." He said

The sound of constant tinkering was one that was kept up throughout the night. Starstreak was hard at work still, messing with her latest gizmos and gadgets. Mostly creating more stuff that was beneficial the others, and was usable—like a mana bomb. Unfortunately, the laser guns were not ready for practical use, and wouldn't be for some time still. She still hadn't figured out how to make it go in a straight line yet. Of course, if they like really close ranged incinerating shotguns, she had made that perfectly!

But no, she wasn't going to release it to anybody yet. There were so many things she had to do first, like creating some practical ammo for it. The crystals inside the prototype she had already created only lasted maybe two shots at low power before they were destroyed. Those were some pretty good crystals too with a lot of magic in them. The efficiency on these was ... less than satisfactory, to say the least. Give her some time and she would probably be able to come up with something.

Also, because it was the dead of night, she was usually going to fetch her materials herself. Double unfortunately, she forgot to shapeshift herself some night vision eyes. She reached up onto a shelf to grab something and managed to bring down several things, each of them falling on her. She yelped, covering her head as each item fell to the ground. Luckily, he was durable enough to not suffer any damage, and two, they weren't really dangerous if they hit her. Just made a lot of noise when they hit the ground.

Aurelia, who had fallen asleep in a chair in the furthest corner of the room, awoke with a jump as the loud clanging of objects hitting the floor rang in her ears. She had grown used to most tinkering noises, the fact that she was able to sleep at all was quite amazing, but such a loud racket to her sensitive predatory ears was enough to startle her. She jumped right up ready to brawl, eyes glowing slightly with their night vision, and immediately noted the objects on the floor and Starstreak covering her head.

Aurelia raised an eyebrow and sighed. "Well, that's... One way to wake someone up. Could have sworn there was a bomb going off. Are you okay?"

Starstreak opened her eyes slowly once she was sure that everything had fallen, and nothing else was going to. There were a few dangerous things on that shelf. She counted herself lucky that she hadn't managed to knock herself out by doing something stupid like that. Briefly, her eyes glowed a vibrant orange for a moment before she turned to Aurelia, able to actually see in the dark clearly now.

"Er ... yeah. Sorry about that." Starstreak winced. "I'm fine. I think I'm just losing it a bit. Getting way too stressed out over this."

Latios Latios
Gunnolf grumbled. "I doubt it will come back. The burns looked like they were bad and felt much of the same. Some spots were numb." He huffed. "Damn griffons."
