Fantasy The School of Aftermath

"Hmm, it seems they don't care too much about school like some other people," she stated in a stoic manner, but a small bit of a smile rested on her lips. Mira sighed once more, only this time almost inaudibly while closing her dark brown, almost black, eyes. "The teacher doesn't seem to mind we are speaking at the moment, of course we are quiet," she mentally slapped herself for her unneeded rambling. It's gonna be a long day...

"Could care less, she took some hours to arrive anyways. I honestly hate this class, was alone her for time while the others were dating or flirting with each other." He sighs, passing his hand trough his hair.

She let out a small chuckle, "So I'm assuming she doesn't care about this class?" Mira would prefer to be studying, but from his statements it seems the teacher could care less about her students, so she thought better of studying for now. A small conversation would be okay, right? It's not like she has never talked before, she's just used to being the quiet one.

"Pretty much, she just arrived, been here like since 3 hours. I've not talked to anyone except this Simon dude. Apparently I'm scary also since this guy broke host nose because of me" he says.

She laughed again, only this time a little more audibly, "You're not scary! Why would you be? Were the few surviving children on the planet of ruins, what could possibly not be scary? In my perspective, scary is normal." She was staring at her hands and his mask the whole time, trying to get an idea to why he was wearing it; which she assumed he could possibly die from all the various germs in the air and debris.

"Maybe you're right, but since today has been a really tough day, I've not been thinking about that." He puts his hands on the desk and rests his head on them, looking at her

I'm gonna go to the gym, be back in 4 hours!

She nods, then pulls out a small notepad and a pencil, just doodling some things out of boredom. The teacher seemed to be talking but she couldn't tell from her seat currently, so she paid no mind to her.

Alright!

He looks at her doodle, he just inclines further and just stares at her face, even tough she's concentrated on other stuff

Simon looked up from Aura and saw John with a girl. He flashed a wink, before returning his attention to Aura.

Mira jumped a little at Jonathan's chuckle, then giggled a little while a light blush flowed over her cheeks at how startled she was. I need to stop getting so drawn into drawing! Oh well, she thought with a smile, continuing to sketch a few flowers in a field. A tree was on top of a hill with a swing on the lowest, strongest branch.

He hears Mira's giggle, he rapidly moves his head pointing at her direction. ''Uh, what happened, why'd you laugh?'' He said, with confusion.

"Your chuckle startled me," she looked over at him with a faint smile, why was she being so openly kind to him? This never happened to her, she was always cold and rude, but now... Gah I'll figure it out later. She snickered again, finishing with some shading.

''Oh, uh, i don't know how to respond to that.'' He laughs very slightly again. ''You're very nice to befriend me, almost everyone gets scared because of my physical appearance, either it be my height or a mask.'' He sighs''But, you're different, thanks'' While nodding slightly

She smiled, genuinely this time, moving some black locks from her eyes. "You may be tall and 'scary' looking, but you're actually quite kind, Jonathan," she replied with a soft voice. Finishing her doodling, she sets down the pencil and gazes at the artwork she made.

''Thanks Mira, not even my parents had said something as nice as that to me.'' He reaches for his gas mask and un-straps it, releasing a light splash of air. He puts his mask on the desk and reaches to hug Mira. 'Thanks.'' He says in a much more soft tone of voice as usual.

Mira, completely surprised by this, weakly hugs him back, then tightens her grip once she's fully aware of the situation. "Y-You took your mask off, why?" She questioned with a slight confused tone yet soft.

''I take it off when i meet people that i actually know i'll care about, i prefer remaining unknown to many people, since some of them can just be rude.'' He says, while inclining his head downwards on her shoulder

She tensed a little at the statements, then gently placed her head on his shoulder, following his lead. I haven't hugged someone since...her. She had a single tear well up in her eye, just before she could even raise her hand to swipe it away, the hot tear left a small trail on her cheek, settling on the boy's shoulder. Dear god please don't notice!

He feels something run down his shoulder, he then hugs her even tighter. ''I haven't hugged anyone since i was 8, and it was when my father left me to go to war.'' he says, in a sad, smooth blunt tone.

Auralee smiled at the two talking. They looked like they would be good together. She peered out the window with great intensity. What was she looking at? Why was she so focused on the outside? She had seen a little sparkle on the ground when she last looked out of the window, it was something that reflected light. She would go check it out when she had time, hoping for no one else to find it before she does. Aura was always curious about things, always having to figure them out in her mind. She turned and looked up at Simon, who is giving her his attention. "Did you say something?" She asked him, a shy smile tracing her lips.

"I-I haven't hugged a person since I was 5. M-M-My mo-ther," Mira had a hard time saying 'mother', let alone anything when speaking of her past. She softly sniffled, though still a little tense by the hug he gave her. "Thank you, Jonathan. I-I'm sorry about your father."

''I'm sorry about your mother, Mira.'' He lets go of her, just staring at her, while he had tear trails all over his face.

"Wow, I can't believe he took off his mask. Guess she is more important then his paranoia." Simon smiled, watching the two embrace. When he returned his attention to Aura she was searching through the window. "I didn't say anything, but I'm glad your so attentive to me," Simon mocked her smug look.

She let go as well, staring at his tear-stained face, "We're a crying mess," she ended with a slight giggle. Ah, I guess I have indeed opened up to him. Take that cold-heart! She smiled brightly, wiping her face of the tear trail.
