Realistic or Modern The Runaway (IC)

"I have my soap, and I have some old cloths that will pry fit you until we can give you your own things tomorrow." Lawrance said. "I'll call and get you on my phone plan tomorrow aswell, you can use my old phone since its practically new, just know I'll check it randomly so don't be doing anything on pr with it you wouldn't want me to find out about" then the lady came back with a nurse and Lawrence began filling out a stalk of formes behind asking "ready to go?"

New clothes, a phone. He never had a phone, unless he could count the old flip phones he used to play with. Elliot couldn’t help but smile more. “Yes, I’m ready.” But he felt a sense of dread. What if the man wasn’t as nice as he seemed? What if he didn’t like him? What then? Would he have to run away again?

"Alright, I dont have my Truck so well have to walk, lets go" Lawrance said and lead the way out and down the street and over a few blocks. They finally arrived at a retro looking dinner where they where Quickly seated and given Menus. "Order whatever you want, just no alcohol" Lawrance told the boy.

“Whatever I want...” Elliot looked at the menu. It was so colorful, so different. “I don’t know what any of this is.” he set the menu down, looking down at his feet once more. “None of this seems familiar.”

"Do you know how to read?" Lawrance asked realizing he shouldn't have assumed "when was the last time you whent to school?" Lawrance figured the boy would need to get his GED but how behind was he?

“I know how to read. The last time I was in school...two years ago. I was a sophomore. But after that, no one really cared enough to send me to school.” Elliot explained, looking to the menu again. “I can read the words, but I don’t recognize the food. What on earth is a milkshake?”

So he might be able to go back to normal high school then to Collage "Somthing your going to try, what kind of food do you want? Hamburger? Sandwich? Burrito? Salad? Soup?"

Elliot didn’t understand some of it. “Soup...I think.” at least that sounded familiar. He recognized it from the cans at the stores, the empty ones in the alley.

"Ok, what kind of soup, thay have tomato, Chiken noodle, clam chowder, ceream of mushroom, and split pea. I figured you'd go for a Hamburger though" Lawrance told him.

“Chicken noodle, please.” he picked the menu up again, looking over it. “And a chocolate milkshake as well.” Elliot thought that would be okay. He knew chocolate and he knew it was good.

Lawrance nodded and a few minutes later a waitress came over and said "Hey Lawrance, good to see you, Who is this Cute?" "This is Elliot, he is going to stay with me for a while" Lawrance responded" "that's sweet, so what can I get you both?" She said and Lawrance told her "my usual fir me and chicken noodle soup with a chocolate milkshake for Him-" then he addressed Elliot "Anything esle?"

Elliot shook his head. “That’ll be all.” he smiled. The waitress seemed friendly. She wasn’t afraid of the man, so he must be okay. “I don’t know why you’re being nice to me.” he might as well talk to the man. “Most adults would have reported me to the cops.”

"I'm not most adults" he said simply. And took a sip of water. "Lets just say I've seen stuff...speaking of which I have a dog, a German Shepherd named Wolfwere. He's a service dog who is usually with me. He is almost always realy friendly, just don't harass him or do somthing to hurt me"

“I wouldn’t. I love dogs, actually. Any animal really. There’s not many people for friends put on the street, but plenty of strays.” Elliot smiled. “I can’t wait to meet him. I bet he’s soft.”

"He is, you gatoa brush him altest once a day because he sheds so much." Lawrance said with a smile then the food came and while Elliot got his soup Lawrance got a hamburger and fries and a side of Biskits and gravity. "Minge" he said then began to dig in.

Elliot took a sip of his milkshake. Too cold. His mind went back. Back to the cold, damp porch of a foster home. His foster father had locked him out, for being late after school. Too cold. Elliot whimpered, putting his hands over his ears. “It’s too cold.”

Lawrance knew emedietly what was going on and loved to put his jacket around the boy then his arm. "Your alright, It's ok, it isn't real not any more your safe. Your with me Lawrance ans were in a Diner. Your safe now, were both safe." Lawrance told him gently and calmly.

Elliot felt the cold start to dissipate, warmth coming back to him. “Not real...” he looked up at Lawrence. “I’m sorry. I caused a scene. Please don’t kick me out.”

"Kid, I have those all the time, your ok, there scary as hell but you get through them, I think we should work slowly back to icecream and milkshakes tho, lets got you some hot chocolate instead" then he waved down the waters and and asks her for some before giving Eliot knee a reassuring squeeze

Elliot pushed the milkshake a little ways away from him. “Alright. Thank you mister.” he still felt scared and shaky, but he knew he was safe. Lawrence was a good person, he wouldn’t hurt him like the foster parents had.

"Have some of the warm soup, your ok, you'll be shaky for a while but you'll be alright" Lawrance reassured him then pushed the hot chocolate twords him when it came, bit otherwise whent back to eating himself.

Elliot held the cup of hot chocolate, breathing in the warm steam. He felt tired, exhausted from the short episode. He took a sip of the hot chocolate, letting it warm him up. He still felt the jacket around his shoulders. “Soft.” Elliot smiled. “Thank you, mister Lawrence.”
