Fantasy The Return of Corruption

Mr Bilkins suddenly became alert To the church shaking all around him. The candelabra's rattled on the walls and a large, simple, chandelier began to swing wildly above him. His ears picked up the distance sounds of chaos. Peoples faint screams made their way through the windows, bypassing the thick stone walls and heavy wooden doors. They stole away the usual silence accustomed to an empty church. He sighed to himself, he'd been hoping to be obtain some information from the local priest but suddenly that seemed less of a priority. Instead he climbed to his feet, bag in hand, and stumbled towards the door. He opened just one of the large, impressive doors gingerly and only a fraction, enough to stick his head out. He gazed out at what he could see of the city and quickly deduced the cause for alarm; a giant creature had encroached on the city and it had already begun making a mess. People and guards ran around not knowing quite what to do. He rolled his eyes and ducked back into the church. He needed a way out...

How in the hell was Ari to talk to this thing? All it knew was roar and destroy.

The guards were surrounding it in what would be a vain attempt to drive it off

"Hold off for a second!" Ari said

"Oi. Beast! What sent you here?"

The beast swiped at the guards, sending them into houses and food stands. " Awakened. " He muttered, drilling his claws into a house, before pulling it out and watching the house slowly crumble.

Holy shit it could talk. Not a single tale I've heard of these things talked about a voice. Ari thought. It was a good thing though.

"Do you have a name you go by?"

" Krogg " It muttered, punting a guard across a street, it was clear that he was more intelligent than other doom beasts., due to it talking.

Arabelle was still inside the church and full of fear. She knew Ari was out there fighting something but she didn't know what was happening. She began to try and walk around to figure out was was happening. She tripped and fell with a groan.

The guards began to gather up again. "Oi, let me handle this or you'll destroy the city!" Most of the guards were smart enough to back off. Most of them. The few stupid ones approached again

One word answers, eh? Ari thought. Alright then. One question at a time

"What awakened you?"

ArcticVoid said:
" Cult. " He said, tossing a stupid guard into an apple stand.
@Kylesar1
A cult? That means it's not Alreos's doing, Ari thought. He had only a few more questions

"What drew you to this place?"

Mr Bikins huffed as the woman fell into him. She'd fallen out of nowhere, he'd thought himself alone. He stumbled backwards and the woman fell to her knees as the building continued to shake at irregular intervals. "What the heck lady!" he shouted at her. With everything that was going on he was a little stressed...

Father Bishop was up at such an early hour, due to him doing his morning prayers. When he heard a man shout from inside of the cathedral, he quickly hurried out to see what the commotion was about. Seeing Arabelle, he quickly bet over to her side and helped her up. "Have you no shame?" Father Bishop scolded, as he looked at Mr. Bikins. "This woman has been blinded, and you treat her as if she has done a crime? I shall not tolerate this behavior in my church." Bishop looked back at the adventurer. "Are you alright, my dear? Do you need anything?"

@Paint The Wind

Mr Bilkins made no effort to reply. He just watched as the man helped the girl up. Seeing the woman helpless on her knees had brought back a pained memory, one he tried to stay awake to avoid. He didn't really feel much for people anymore but he felt a little sorry for her. He then noticed what the man wore, and wondered if this was his chance. "Excuse me father, ahem, would you be the leader of this church?"...

Arabelle whimpered and backed way, falling back from another tremor so her back was on the floor. "I'm sorry!" she wailed, her voice shaking.

Arabelle turned her head to face Father Bishop. "Sir, what's happening? Where is Ari? Why is everything shaking?" She was so scared, it was evident in her voice and expression.

Kathrine had been on he roof of the church since anyone had awoken. She had heard and watched the beast approach into the capital, the problem was that there was no way in hell she could take that thing on, and even if she woke the others, she didn't know if they could take it on either. Kathrine watched from the church roof as Ari surprisingly communicated with the beast.

"Your boyfriend is outside, speaking to the beast. You need to lay down, my dear." Bishop replied, carrying her back downstairs to the Abbey. "No harm will come to him, I will assure you."

She sighed sadly. "I feel so helpless." she said with a trembling voice.

Mr Bilkins had been snubbed. He watched the priest carry the girl away and towards some stairs that seemed to descend beneath the church. He stood for a moment and checked his surroundings. The beast, whatever it was, still marauded outside and he still wanted to speak with this priest. He picked up his bag and headed towards the stairs pausing at the top to check the priest wasn't already on his way back up. He wasn't. Mr Bilkins grunted, threw his bag back on his back and decended after the priest and girl...

"Shh.." Father Bishop laid Arabelle back down on the cot. "Why would you feel helpless? You have someone who loves you, and they are willing to fight for you. Don't feel helpless, feel happy." Bishop said, as he sat down next to the bed. "You need to let out your feelings. Just let it all spill out. I shall not tell a soul."

Mr Bilkins heard quietened voices as he reached the bottom of the stairs. Ducking his head at the bottom, he found himself in a rather small living area. The priest, as many of them often did, lived humbly but still seemed willing to share his limited things with strangers. A good man then, for sure. He noted that the girl had been lain on a cot and looked even more pathetic. Judging by the fresh wounds around her eyes, she was new to the permanent darkness that was seemingly now her life.

Mr Bilkins stepped in silently after a moment of observation and moved towards the priest who was sat with his back to the entrance way as he spoke softly to the girl. He cleared his throat, "Ahem, excuse me, Father. If I could have a word?"...

Father Bishop turned to the man and looked at him disapprovingly. "This is neither the place or the time for this, sir. Now please wait upstairs."
