Fantasy The Return of Corruption

(Just going to be random for a sec)

Vayne got bored of sitting around, so she grabbed her sword and started walking. She walked further and further from the campsite until she didnt hear even the light trickles of the river. She just shurgged, then heard some sounds. Deep sounding and drawn out. She kept walking closer to the sound before she widened her eyes at a large Swamp Strider laying on its side in the mud. It made another sound and she moved forward to see if it was alright before she barely saw the giant wooden hand swipe at her from the thick undergrowth of the forest/marsh. She jumped back in surprise, and widened her eyes even more as the biggest Swamp Strider she's ever seen walk out, snarling at her. It tried smashing her, driving her away from the Strider stuck in the mud. She jumped and climbed into a tree, where the big Strider could attack her, but stopped and walked back over to the one stuck in the mud. She watched, wondering if it was going to help the other. But it stood there, looking at the Strider in the mud. After some louder growls and groans of the one in the mud, it suddenly stopped. She thought it was dead until she saw heavy breathing, then raised an eyebrow as the bigger one plunged his head into the mud, which must have been deep, and pulled back away again before dropping a muddy bundle. It started licking at the small clump of mud until it relieved a small dark green colored thing. It started moving and made a higher pitched sound, in which Vayne realized it was a baby Strider. The bigger one had to be the male, the one who was pulling herself from the mud the female. The baby Strider didnt have any wood on it besides the arms and legs that were made of wood. The mother nudged the baby, and kept doing it until the baby got up on wobbly legs. Vayne smiled, it was so cute!

Vayne watched for a minute more before she realized the family was starting to move. The father took head, his huge bulk keeping the path clear for the mother, which the baby was in the middle. The baby could already run and jump, batting at his the moss that hung from dad as he kept running under him. Vayne moved from the tree so she didnt get attacked again, following though a distance away. Then realized they were headed for the camp. The river! The Striders wanted the river! She wondered if it would be a problem... Soon enough as the Strider's walked, the dad started to get growly. Vayne then realized she could hear the river again, and before she started running to warn someone the family walked from the treeline. The dad saw the humans and huffed, walking with his mate and child to the river. He kept close eye on the humans, Vayne having to skirt around so the wasnt in the same direction as the very protective new parents. She stopped when she came from a ways away from the family and made her way quickly to whoever. "Uh, I didnt do it" She said. The mother stood in the water, that was up to her elbows, while the baby kept squeaking and crying at her. She reached out and pulled the baby into the shallow water, starting to lick him. Dad stood on the shore on the side the campsite was, guarding.

Kathrine gazed out the window some more before speaking "Nobody's leaving anybody." She said in a serious tone. Kathrine looked between Ari and Arabelle. "Your going after the king?"

Sepentireon pondered in thought for a moment
"They call themselves heroes, no? What if I disguised myself as a human in distress. Surely, they would try to come to my aid would they not?"

Ethan shook his head. "They'd never go for that. The girl can sense your magic from a mile away. It's why you've never managed to surprise the girl with an attack. Thank my sources for that........ We have 2 options:

  1. Turn yourself into a human and make some noise, Take a couple of casualties in the Hotel, then we disappear. You hide in a crowd of mages and scramble your magic as much as possible. When they show up, we strike
  2. Or I can make some noise with you hiding and when they come for me, you strike. They've fought you before. Not me."

[QUOTE="Paint The Wind]"Will Lexi be okay to deal with me not being able to give any commands? I can't see what's happening in battle, I could end up killing the both of us."
Arabelle pulled out the crystal. "Ari? What is it doing?" she asked, holding the purple-pink crystal in her hands.

"It's alternative. Something that I do when I scout ahead. I can see what my snakes see. It's something someone with a bond can do. If you practice it, you'll be able to use it before the battle. It'll be a bit blurry, but it'll be usable. It's about the best I can do for now.......If that doesn't work, Lexi can operate on her own and talk to you. With your bond, you've heard exchanges between Elaina and Lexi. You can talk to Lexi if you want."

The crystal began to glow and she asked him about it. "The shit's glowing. What is it?"

Katherine spoke up. "Of course we are. That bastard beast-napped Sakaga and took out Arabelle's eyesight. He's dead or we're dead trying. Why?"

Arabelle listened to him. "I've never really been great with animals but I'll try my best."

She held the stone tightly and her mouth fell open slightly. She tucked it away in her pocket. "It doesn't mean anything."

Kathrine nodded although frustration over came her. "Damnit. He must want you alive then, he could've finished me off or Arabelle but he didn't." She paced. If he worked for the king and word got out she was alive. "I'm supposed to be dead. If he reports back to th King.."

Her head snapped over to him "I'm helping both of you." She said without question in her tone. She looked at Arabelle then Ari again "You seem to know magic. There has to be something you can do for her eyesight."

(Good enough)

Cross arrived at the scumbags camp. He waved to a guard.

"Hey I've thought over the job offer. Can I speak to your boss?"

"You were great with Lexi when you used her as your steed 5 years ago. If you listen to her, you'll do fine............now what's with the crystal?"

Ari scoffed. There was one final option and not a humane one. "There's another way, but Arabelle won't stand for it and honestly, I won't either: You take someone else's eyes and connect the optic nerves to hers with a Spell. Since you're taking someone else's eyes, it uses Dark Magic and not Holy Magic like the wooden leg (unless there's a donor). The eyes have to be either fresh or preserved. Unless you have a willing donor or an eye collection, it's a no-go." In other words, a complete no. No-one sane would give up their eyes.

The guard shook his head. "No." He said simply. "Yea, he aint seeing visitors at the moment" Another piped up.

Cross grinned.

"Well that's a shame. But I'm an insistent guy."

A black lance formed right above Cross right hand. "I'm not going to ask again."

"I don't remember. It was important but I forget why." She took it back out and showed it to him.

When he gave the suggestion she looked disgusted. "No way. I could never do that."

The guards unsheathed their weapons at the surprised yelp from the one taling to Cross. They stood up, "We cant let'cha in" One said. "If we did, we'd be dead!" Another said.

@Kylesar1

"The first plan seems more likely to succeed, your second one depends on blind luck that she doesnt detect me and that the party hears you."

He slowly shifted back into a human, stuffing all of the tendrils into dull red robes

"I will enter the hotel. You wait outside, and if you see them, do not hesitate to strike"

Kathrine sighed "Damn." She said in a disappointed way, feeling helpless to do anything. "So what's the plan then big guy?" She asked with a hint of sarcasm?

The lance launched forward nailing the first guard.

"I promise you that I will let you live." Cross took a step forward. "If you tell me where the girl is and run in the opposite direction."

"I wouldn't expect you to." Ari looked at the crystal. He turned it around "Tyr!"

He flashed green and spoke into it. "Tyr! What the hell's taking so long? We need your asses in Toron asap! We're in code red here." Ari didn't bother answering Katherine's question. She'd probably get the answers in this discussion

Ethan shook his head.
"The first one actually has more luck factors, but ok. Don't be surprised if you're sensed by the girl as soon as you enter. Do your dirty work quick-like."

He stood there.
"Do your thing and I'll wait."

"Girl? What girl?"

"Maybe the one you brought overnight?"

"What does she look like?" A third guard asked, taking a step back.

Vayne watched the family of Striders, dad still guarding and mom watching the son chase guppies around. He even swallowed some. "Isnt it cute?!" She asked Tyr, looking at him then back at the Striders.

"Look I don't know what she looks like but a contact of mine said she was in cahoots with the adventurers."

"What the fuck?!" Tyr yelled into the crystal. "What the hell happened? Is Arabelle alright?! If she's dead, I swear to god.."
