Fantasy The Return of Corruption

Ari sighed. "No idea, actually. The plan has to be re-evaluated now. We may just have to go with Dean's proposal of waiting for the others. I have to think."
Before Sepentireon disappeared, Ethan managed a retort. "Yea, Yea. You'll devour me with your little molesters...... Keep thinking that, weakling."

Ethan was a squirrel, animated into a human-sized humanoid. His home was still the woodland. His sources were the woodland squirrels, who were loyal to him, though they couldn't fight. They simply supplied him with info at his request. Of course this delusional weakling wouldn't know something like that, or come to that conclusion even with a bit of thought.

Ethan muttered to himself. "Damn fool is so concerned with Holy Magic that he won't just find another user and siphon the info out of him, or at bare minimum ask me about the magic in Excalibur and my Variable (Var) Arsenal. So concerned with being status that he underestimates his opponents........whatever, he'll regret it when he feels the girl's Holy Burn. I ain't fighting a child."

Ethan made it to the outskirts of a huge forest. The forest where he trained. He knew this forest like he knew his tail. He hit his primal stance (all fours to increase speed) and shot through the forest, on the way to Toron

Arabelle frowned and turned her head to face him. "Ari I have to step down as leader. I can't go on like this. I want you to take over for me."

(Is this really your plan?)

Ari just looked at her. As if he didn't have enough to deal with. "And what will happen with you? You have a bounty on your head and Alreos is after you.......and what about Sakaga."

((I'm not sure yet, I'm still deciding.))

Arabelle began to cry. She didn't have tears but she was still sobbing and her nose running. "She'll have to stay with one of you. I can't take care of her like this. I can't do anything. Someone will find me and bring me in to Alreos or kill me and that'll be it."

Ari thought about it. There was still a way to give her pseudo-sight. Ari himself could see what his snakes see. As a result, he could lose his eyes and still see through their eyes

Another way would be to teach her to use magic to see magic. Most people's and beast's magic flowed through their body via their nervous system, so it'd essentially let her see their whole body through their magic flow. It's useless to those with zero affinity to magic and zero magic in their veins (tapped into or not), but most people had at least a sliver of an affinity. She'd be able to see all but probably Dean.

Something like that isn't easy to teach though, and he didn't know if she had magic in her veins or an affinity for it

Ari bit his thumb in thought.

Ari bit his thumb in thought.
Arabelle buried her face in her hands and cried. She was so sick of being hurt and losing parts of herself. She wanted to live a normal life with Sakaga and Ari. Wait, did she just think Ari? She was shocked by her own thoughts.

@Kylesar1

After a while, Sepentireon had arrived outside of Toron. He laid on a hill, still in his serpentine form as he overlooked the town.

The beast slowly surveyed the area, searching for Ari and his family, before he decided to wait for Ethan. A time passed, and eventually, he fell asleep. No animals dared come near the snoring black mass, as anything that touched it was consumed into its skin.

Bastille followed close by to Tyr, constantly insisting that he travel first. He seemed as if he were to ask a question, but he knew his place as a silent soldier.

Ethan made it to Toron. "Wake up!" Ethan hissed at the black form. "According to my sources, only half the group is here." He had stopped to talk to the woodland squirrels. "The logical assumption is that the other half has to do with the Ancient God. He never traveled with them and according to the tale, he lives in the mountains."

Ari took out the map from earlier. He scratched his head. Their leader was out. No longer leader. Arabelle now and not entirely due to her sight loss. It wouldn't be such a bad thing if they weren't in the middle of a life/death power struggle. Things were finally taking its toll on her. "Regardless, we still have to do this. If we mount our rescue and get Sakaga back, it's not stopping until either us or Alreos falls." Both of them knew it. It was just a matter of her place in it. If she stayed out, she'd be highly vulnerable to Alreos and the bounty hunters. If she went in the battle, he'd lay down his life for her, but frankly it'd slow them down
First Elaina was here and now a blinded Arabelle. I kept telling myself to keep my loved ones out of my personal business. The one time I screw up is where they're in the most danger they've ever been in. One's blind and a pedophile with tentacles is coming after my daughter. Shit! Ari thought. Maybe it was time for retirement for him as well after it was all over

"I'll only slow you all down if I go with you." she said softly. "I don't want to put any of you in danger. I care about you all too much to let my handicap hurt you." she said, her voice still shaking. She wanted to be home and began imagining what her life would have been. She imagined having her own children and helping raise Ari's. She imagined watching Sakaga and the children play hand in hand with Ari. She knew it wouldn't happen. No one would want a cripple two times over on their arm.

"I see. Well, I'm sure we can find those that Alreos was looking for in here. We may find the others later, especially if they lure themselves into a trap."

Sepentireon unfurled in his snake form, toppling trees and sending animals flying with his powerful tendrils.

"How shall we approach this? Enter in calmly and ask them nicely, or go in and raze the village?"

Cross looked down and saw blood flowing. "Damn that god, I wasn't strong enough and he broke Stormbreaker. Next time I'll be ready. But for now I have to find the others.

Ethan's response was non-hesitant. "We lure them out. Toron has a high number of mages and mercenaries. Since it's near our Lord's castle, There are Holy users here, plus that girl. You may have downed that village earlier, but regardless of that high horse you're on, you can't do it to Toron."

"As for the others, we have to do our thing before they arrive unless you feel like taking on an Ancient God."

"Shush. We're not going anywhere and we're in danger regardless of whether or not you're with us." Ari sighed. "We're all done with hero work after this." he laughed. "I have wealth and kids. I just need to settle down now." After more thought, he reached a conclusion. "We're gonna get through this together, just like we did 5 years ago. No objections. I gave you a bond to Lexi, and 5 years ago, offered to travel with you. We'll use Lexi like always."

Suddenly, the crystal in Arabelle's pocket starts to vibrate and glow a dim shade of purple-ish pink.

Sepentireon pondered in thought for a moment

"They call themselves heroes, no? What if I disguised myself as a human in distress. Surely, they would try to come to my aid would they not?"

"Will Lexi be okay to deal with me not being able to give any commands? I can't see what's happening in battle, I could end up killing the both of us."

Arabelle pulled out the crystal. "Ari? What is it doing?" she asked, holding the purple-pink crystal in her hands.

Cross entered Toron. But now he could barely limp. "I can't stop. I gotta keep moving. Have to find those adventurers.

Vayne left the tent as well, hearing Bailey and Tyr talk but she didnt care enough to make out the words. She sat down, leaning against a tree and putting her hands behind her head.

(Qin-Tarak uses ecolocation. He can teach her once her senses enhance)

Cross remembered what his daughter had told him. He pulled out a vial containing a red liquid.

"If this is what you think I need to do Ciri I'll do it. That girl will be out of that prison in no time."

Cross handed a letter to the innkeeper. Telling her to give it to the adventurers.
