Fantasy The Queens Guard

"Pfft this ain't Barovia buddy, did you miss a turn and end up in the wrong country?" Spiora said sarcasticly, trying to make the man reveal their motives.

Marius face grew slightly annoyed. "Your country barely put a fight, your army was attracted into the open and slaughtered within seconds." Standing Marius was slightly taller than this girl, he looked down at her his anger clear. "I'm sure the next country our great Emperor chooses for a victim will fall in seconds." He thought for a second. "Alexandria would prove a great foe though, their military is not the best. Nothing compared to Barvoia, but the legendary 'Queen's Guard' could prove most difficult to defeat." While he seemed to not care much on how the girl reacted his every attention was to her person. She seemed off to Marius and he trusted his instincts more than he trusted Karaii.

Spiora shrugged, "It's hard to put into words how little I care for who's in charge around here. I'm a hunter. People need meat. So my country didn't put up a fight? I'll sell game to both armies and come up with a pretty coin." his was true, she had already sold a dear to the camps cook to give her an alibi to be in the camp.

(I love how it deltas my entire post just as I finish it. *Cries*

"There's only one army here, Barovian." He sighed. Their conversation was interrupted by the messenger with Karaii's note. Marius strode past the girl and grabbed the small note making sure she could not see it's contents he quickly read and crumpled it then placed it over a torch to let it burn. "Off with you I've got work to do."

"It's hard to put into words how little I care for your life.''. Karaii said, entering the tent, holding his spear. "If you're going to pretend to be a commoner, act like one,'' he suggested mockingly. "A commoner wouldn't so openly mock someone as high up as Marius in the empire that just barbequed his country's army.''. He said, with a shrug. "Gaurdus Imperil!" he bellowed, "Arrest the spy!". 5 men barged into the TNT, halberds in hand, all pointed at Spiora.

(A wild Karaii appears!)

Marius stood by his Emperor, bowing for a second then standing by his side. "Perfect timing sir, as usual." He kept his hand closed around his beloved sword. "I wish to interrogate her and see what information I can get, or would you like to use her as a bargaining chip with Alexandria?" He spoke as if she already was an asset in their hands.

"The first and then the second.'' he said simply. ''I will explain more to you privately, to prevent the spy from learning too much.''. More Guardia Imperil were flooding in, surrounding Spiora in a circle of halberds. "Drop all your weapons, and put your hands in the air, or they will not hesitate to skewer you, hunter,'' he stated.

"Yes sir." (Datlength do. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY TIME I DO THIS FORGIVE ME ROLEPLAY GODS ABOVE I SHAME YOU)
((*Gasp! Thou haveth shamed us! Be gone spawn of darkness!''

"Jig up huh?"Spiora said with a sigh,"I guess I am really bad at the whole sneak around and gather information thing. She immediately stood up to her full height, a full four inches taller then the guard captain and bowed, slightly sarcastically with at least half genuine respect."I assume I am speaking to the emperor Karaii? And all his very impressive men with their pointed sticks? It's a pleasure. While I must apologize for my lack of respect for your captain, the rumors of your country are quite ah... Bloody. You must understand my caution. My superiors have sent me here to discover your intentions for Alexandria and etc and since I am frankly no good at gathering information covertly I would ask your lordship directly. The country in question wishes nothing but peace and good will with you. Also it would be considered a boon to your men as if we cannot discuss this civilly, I will be forced to kill several on my way out of your camp.

Marius drew Wolfbane. The blade gleamed with a sharpness unparalleled only matched to that of a diamond's fine tip. With a frown he looked up at the tall girl. "First time meeting a women taller than me." He paused. "You will drop your weapons and surrender to our troops, if you do not comply within the next few seconds I will end your life." His voice held no arrogance or threat, but rather it seemed he stated only fact. He was prepared to charge at any second, the distance between the two was quite far though.

Karaii chuckled, listening to her words. "I'm afraid that you lack the right to call the Barovian Empire bloody compared to your own. I am up for civil discussions, but if you aren't.....'' he suddenly spun his spear, blindingly fast, as the tip rested against her throat, although not touching. "As for my intentions for Alexandria,'' he said, ''They are not directly hostile. My first concern is that my people require more food and land than we currently have to sustain ourselves. Alexandria is a bountiful land. Perhaps, if you lent us some for the growing food and the raising of love stock, neither of us would have to consider the violent option?''. he lowered his spear, bringing it away from her.

"I do not mean to say your country is one of significant blood shed I'm just saying that lately you've been prone to conquering. Case in point." Spiora said, waving her arms to indicate exactly where they were while subtlety loosening her weapons" I do appreciate the lack of hostility towards my own home though, and I'm sure that my superiors will be able to work out something that favors both our countries, they would be remiss to not consider such a valuable ally and we'll the queen does have a soft spot for starving people"

Kalidin made good progress searching the surrounding lands. He first circled the city and then expanded to search the neighboring cities and towns. It was slow work but it made sure that he would not only secure the perimeter, but also that he who not over look anything. Everything seemed to be fine in the near area to he steadily expanded his search area. After some time he happened upon an area of small farms.

"It smells like blood here," Kalidin said " Lets go see it the cloaked man had something to do with this." Kalidin rode in playing a song so that he seemed less intimidating as he entered. Kalidin could not remember who ruled this land so he would not make any waves, usually a few wealthy men controlled the area and they tended to be jumpy towards strangers. As Kalidin entered children ran up to the edge of fences to see and hear the mysterious stranger. Kalidin dismounted and decided to lead the horse, so that he could work his legs a bit, while lowering his possible threat level. As he walked he noticed some men burring bodies off in the distance.

Kalidin walked up to the see the seen for himself. There was no morning and little care given to the bodies as they were thrown into the ground, so Kalidin assumed that they were bandits or some rival attackers. "Hello sir I'm passing through is everything ok here," Kalidin said motioning towards the bodies." Yea everything's ok now," the man said " Had some bandit trouble but the emperor himself came and saved us." "The emperor," Kalidin questioned " I didn't think this place had an emperor?" "Hey it happened a bit ago," The man said cheerfully " Emperor Karaii has taken this area over from the old lords. It's better in my option, he actually cares about us simple folk."

Kalidin remembered that name apparently the cloaked man worked for him. " Do you know where I can find the Emperor," Kalidin said with a smile " There is good money in playing for royalty, good way to fill the purse while I'm here." Yes sir I do," The man said with a toothy smile " He and his men are and hour or so that way." "Thanks a lot my friend," Kalidin said " Let me help you with this while I'm here." He then helped the men bury the bodies. Before leaving he played a song in the center area of the farm while the men and women took their breaks. They thanked him for his help with a piece of bread and he mad his way to where the emperor was said to be.

After about an hour like the man had said Kalidin arrived at a city that had the look and feel of a war camp. "Well time to start looking," Kalidin said to himself. He put his horse in the stables and started asking around for the emperor. He then saw a far amount of people in armor run over towards a tent. Kalidin decided to follow to see what was going on, when he got there a perimeter was formed around the tent and they prevented entrance. With this kind of disturbance someone of authority was sure to show up so he waited at the edge of the perimeter see if he could find the emperor or the cloaked man known as Phaze. To pass time while he waited he talked to people around him and played some music as always.

Karaii noded. "I understand your worries. But.... the Barovian Empire is not as splendid as it once was. I accept your offer. Additionally, I would like a chance to personally speak with your queen. It is something of rather, urgent importance. Until then, I wish you good well." He said, with a customary and respectful bow. He began to turn and leave, before he stopped, turning slightly, looking back at her, a slight smile on his face. "However, if you had wanted diplomacy, sneaking into the camp of the Gaurdus Imperii was not the smartest idea." he stated, with a shrug. With this, he turned, and left, heading outside, with a nod to Marius.

The bodyguard sheathed his blade, looking to Karaii before the man departed. His eyes fell upon the women still surrounded by the army's most advanced troops. "Please, remove your weapons and hand them over - if you do so then no harm shall come to you." The men around the Alexandrian braced their weapons, any attack would be met with swift stabbing attacks. Marius simply watched he was far enough away to be thought of nonthreatening but somehow he held himself as if the distance was nothing and they were face to face, ready to fight.
