Fantasy The Queens Guard

Finn had already made it to the inn where the thieves told him where this mysterious man had been staying, he'd watched him leave and had followed him, his cloak helping him blend in. He watched the man go about his business and then watched him leave, definitely in a hurry. Finn pursed his lips and turned to head back to the queen. He quickly ran along the buildings, jumping from roof to roof, free running, and then leapt from the roof and landed silently behind the queen and her handmaiden.

"Didn't think it'd be this easy to get behind you like this." He said.

Alisian smirked back at Finn. She had already known who it was." If you were an enemy you wouldn't have made it off that roof. That I can assure you. Be it as you may you are an Allie and thus not a threat."

Turning slightly she lifted her free hand revealing the dagger that had slipped into her hand from its secret sheath on her arm. " you are thus spared from being on the receiving end of my dagger. You should be more carefull though who knows what will happen if you do manage to surprise me."

Finn chuckled and flicked Alisian on the forehead, playfully.

"If I had truly wished to kill the queen, I'd attack from afar. One single arrow would do the trick." He said with a wink. ".....but where is the profit in that? With the new queen, this country prospers, more people become rich and therefore there are more people to practice on."

He winked at her again and laughed at her expression. Now that he thought about it, she was actually pretty cute.

Alisian sighed shaking her head as she slid the dagger back into its sheath.

"Remind me to join you on one of your little escapes. It has been a while since I have had the chance to have a little reckless fun." More like years. She thought. Turning she smiled at the queen and slipped her hand from hers."I better go take care of business."

Finn shrugged and nodded, with a genuine smile on his lips.

"Alright, provides you can keep up with me and you don't get me caught." He said, chuckling. "It might be hard for you, trying to keep up with the legendary Sparrow, King of Thieves, but believe it or not, many people would have me arrested even though I'm a part of the royal guard."

"Oh I believe it." Alisian smirked at him over his shoulder as she walked into the orphange." Don't worry about getting caught I am a lot more skilled at stealing then one would think."

Walking in she scanned her surroundings temporarily ignoring the woman that came to greet her. Everything seemed fine. Children ran ran every playing without a care in the world. It seemed like the orphanage she grew up in was worlds apart from this one. After a moment she turned her attention to the women to give her a quick warning."The queen is here."

Turning she left and approached the others."It is all clear. We should wait a moment to let them gather the children."

Finn seemed skeptical for a moment and raised an eyebrow.

"Did you check everywhere? All the rooms, and wherever an assassin can be hiding?"

Alisian gave Finn a dry look."Its an orphanage. If an assasine was hiding in one of the rooms one of the children would have discovered them within minutes and it would be all over the orphanage. The children weren't kept hostage to keep their presence known they were to relaxed. Im sure there is no threat. Even if there was I will stay by the queens side and be ready to defend her at all times or act as a shield if need be."

Finn somehow had slipped away when Alisian blinked and spoke from behind her.

"How would you defend her without keeping an eye on your weapon?" He asked.

He was sitting on the orphanage's sign, balancing her dagger on the tip if his finger, and there was his signature sly smile on his lips.

"And this too." He said, producing her wallet.

Alisian turned and smiled at him slyly. "You seem to think I am a fool." Reaching into dress she withdrew Finns own wallet. She had snagged it when he moved behind her.

"Nice try. By the way that isn't my only weapon either." Smiling she held the wallet out.

"Nice try, but that isn't my own wallet. That's the queens, thief." He said, teasing her.

He tossed her dagger and her own wallet back, and laughed.

"But I sure do like your ring." He commented.

He produced the ring from his hand and returned that too.

Alisian mocked glared at him snatching her ring back. A smile soon found its way on her lips though."Your one to talk. Why did you have the Queens wallet in the first place?"

Finn shrugged at her with a sly smile.

"Why do you?" He asked, knowing what the answer would be. "It's too easy, I did it to see if she would notice."

Alisian sighed shaking her head."I am afraid I don't think she noticed. It is not really one of her best skills. That's probably why she keeps you around."

"Maybe, maybe not." Finn said. "Maybe she keeps me because nobody is as good as I am."

He smiled a cocky smile at Alisian, and then chuckled.

"Cocky basterd." Alisian whispered smirking at him. Her smirk turned into a smile as she turned the Queen."I believe it is about time we head in."

Finn laughed loudly at her insult and smiled.

"Go on, I'll keep watch for anybody."

Kalidin started jumping from building to building again looking for the suspicious man. As he was moving around he saw the three men stalking behind a man riding an elephant through the streets. " That's strange don't see many of those," Kalidin said. He then switched his attention to the three men who were drawing short swords. "No," Kalidin thought as they moved closer " No no no." They then stabbed the elephant in the rear sending him charging through the streets after tossing off its rider. "Of course they would," Kalidin said to himself before yelling " Guards get those three I will stop the elephant." Kalidin jumped down and caught the man before he collided with the ground, setting him down before jumping back to the roof.

Kalidin charged off at super human speed following the elephant as it ran down the once busy street. Kalidin could have just cut the creatures legs and have been done with it but he did not want permanently injure the creature for something that wasn't it's fault. He started thinking about ways to stop it with the least amount of harm. His thoughts were interrupted by a small child sitting and crying in the middle of the street. People from inside buildings were looking at the child but, no one was acting for fear of getting trampled as well. One man was holding back the child's mother as she tried to run in and grab her child.

" Well it works on bulls, up the power and it should still work," Kalidin thought to himself before yelling "Someone grab some rope and be ready with it." He then said a quick prayer got directly horizontal to the elephant and launched himself towards and in front of the elephant, causing a loud crack as the roof of the building broke under the force of his jump. Kalidin caught hold of the elephants tusks and pulled the elephants head sideways causing it trip over itself and crash into the ground. As soon as Kalidin got the elephant to fall he hit the ground turned and shot off back in the direction he came grabbing the child before the elephant rolled on top of him. He skidded to a stop inside a building and put the child down there. Luckily some of the men around him had realized why he wanted the rope and had already left the safety of the buildings to tie the elephants legs. Seeing that the situation had been taken care of and that the owner of the elephant had come to calm the elephant Kalidin made his way back onto the roof and headed back to check on the guards and the three men.

Kalidin found the men in the custody of six guards. "Good job I can't thank you enough," Kalidin said. "What happened with the elephant," one guard asked? "The people down a ways have it tied up and the owner it with it calming it down," Kalidin responded. " Also that was amazing how did you," another guard said " You were like whoosh and then like swoosh and then..." " I think the man has other things to do," a older guard said " Thanks the guard owes you debt." "You guys owe me nothing," Kalidin said " Just make sure the injured are taken care of and that those men see bars, that's enough for me." Kalidin then pointed at the men and as soon as the guards attention was off of him he disappeared down the street.

Kalidin then quickly searched the town for the strange man with no luck. "Maybe Finn has had some luck," Kalidin thought " I hope he's with the queen, that guys is way to hard to find. After a short time Kalidin arrived at the orphanage he saw Finn being a lookout. Kalidin front flipped of the building he was on and landed in front of Finn. "I hope everything is boring here," Kalidin said " Because I have worked way harder than I wanted to. Also I searched for the man we talked about but I got a little side tracked and by the time I could look he was no where to be found, have you searched for him yet?"

Finn was sitting cross legged on a barrel underneath a shops awning across from the orphanage, carving a figure out of a small piece of firewood he'd stolen from the shop. He didn't look up at Kalidin, and instead just focused on his figure, delicately carving and etching in the wood with his knife.

"Yep, sure did, he wondered around a lot and the local thieves said he was snooping around, looking for information on most of the queen's guard. Fortunately for me, the thieves know better than to talk about me, but then again, they only know what the local stories of those who said they saw me before say, oh, and legends." He said. "Something about a King of Thieves blessed by the Thieve God."

He stopped for a moment, then leaned forward closer to Kalidin, with a curious look on his face.

"Wait, why were you following him too? You could've alerted him to your presence, and then he would've know we'd known he was here."

Kalidin took in the information and smiled at Finn words of worry. "Because I wanted to," Kalidin said " And I was not following him I was looking for him there is a difference. You can't follow people who you didn't find. Anyway most people think I'm a traveling performer since all I do in the city is dance and play my flute and since i'm in the background with you most outside of the castle don't know me. He most likely knows the same amount about me as the rest of you do, if not less, and you guys don't know much about me at all. Anyway if he tries something all my queen has to do is demand him dead and it will be so, you worry about the wrong things."

@Wiggle

Finn shrugged and went back to carving his figurine, seemed to be a type of bird.

"You don't know much about scouting, or spying, do you? It doesn't matter who are you, it matters where you've been seen and what you look like. How do you think I've never been caught before? Why do you think they call me a Master Thief, King of Thieves and so on? The local thieves aren't stupid criminals as one would think, it takes wit and knowledge to be a good thief. What kind of security your mark has, who's on duty, the best hiding spots, blind spots, and so on and so forth. How do you think thieves get this information? By watching, listening, and sharing among each other, we do help each other out, you know. There's a little thing called a Thieve's Honor, ironic isn't it? That someone who steal others possessions would know of honor? We don't rat on each other, we don't steal from one another, and we don't give bad marks, advice or prospects. These are very serious rules, and if you break them, you'll have some serious repercussions. You've been seen entering and leaving the castle, multiple times, and by different thieves. That rock you gave the queen, tons of thieves saw you wear it before giving it to the queen, and multiple thieves have seen the queen wear it." He explained. "It's common fact among the thieves here in the capitol that you, Kalidin, are a member of the queen's guard."

He went back to carving the figurine and smiled at it, it was a sparrow, and a well made one too.

"So, what do you think would have happened, friend? He would've spotted you, and turned tail and ran to whomever he was spying for." He said, holding the Sparrow out into the light. "Still think I worry about the wrong things?"

Aria sighed as she listened to the two talk about stealing theft, and other things... right next to her, at that. She wanted to say she didn't bother guarding her wallet because she didn't really care, but she had a feeling that would a only invite the lecture of the century. She took her wallet back, and sighed as she listened to Finn's report. " If he's looking for information on us, that really can't be good... I doubt you can find out who he's spying for so... Kaladin, Finn, bring this man in for questioning when you can. I don't want someone looking for info on us to move freely." She said

"With that, I do believe some children are expecting us." She said, walking into the orphanag. She was greeted by a brigade of cheerful smiles, happpy to seethe queen that had done so much for them. She smiled, patting one on the head. She turned to adress the Matron. "How may I help?" She asks, and immedatly went into the kitchen to help preare food.

Kalidin let out a chuckle before saying "I was right you thieves know nothing. I never gave the queen anything and I have for sure never worn that jewel, so much for your never giving bad information. As for going in and out of the castle do you know how many normal guards and other people make their way in and out of the castle, I challenge you to find a person who hasn't been in and out. Other than that I do know what would have happened if he ran back to who he was spying for, I would now not only be able to catch him but also his employer, there is no man or beast on the planet that can out run me. It's a standard battle tactic to let a few men escape and reveal the location of the main camp. So yes I still thing you worry about the wrong things, but for now it's no matter the queen wants us to go catch the man.

@Wiggle

Finn sighed and shook his head, grabbed another small piece of wood and began carving it too.

"That's exactly my point, Kalidin. How many of those normal people and guards do you think we're actually what they said they were? And how many do you think where informants?" He asked. "You would have ran straight into the enemy's arms and would have been killed. No matter how strong you think you are, you'd still be outnumbered."

He stopped for a moment, and looked up at Kalidin.

"And I'm sure you know where he ran off to, almighty scholar?" Finn asked, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "And I'm sure you would say the same thing if I happened to steal your oath stone, would you?"

@Enolx

Kalidin glared at Finn when he mentioned his oath stone. "My entire life has been centered around fighting while outnumbered, armies have bowed to me, a man who lives in the shadows has no room to talk," Kalidin said coldly. Finns knowledge of his oath stone put Kalidin's peaceful life in jeopardy, and Kalidin did not like that. Kalidin stared at Finn a calm rage behind his eyes " If you really know about me then you should know what you are making an enemy right now," Kalinin said flatly " I have the strage feeling I will be the one to kill you, but, for now since my queen has ordered it I will work with you to catch this man, lead the way king of thieves."
