This is a one on one between WildpeltTheCat and myself. I would prefer it if no one else posted, but feel free to follow along. Thank you

No, they couldn’t “WAIT!” my heart was racing, what was happening here? Why was there so much screaming? Where was everyone going? The Darkness, I could feel it looming over the beautiful city I called my home. /DON’T LEAVE!/ The voice in my head screamed, the warmth of tears ran down my face. Salty, I could taste them as I opened my mouth to scream again, the bodies of my parents sprawled out in front of me. Their blood smeared on the wall, ‘I WARNED YOU’ was written out in big bold letters. Their eyes were blank, nothing was left. My legs felt like they were going to crumble, the sadness, despair that I felt for them was so crisp and clear. That’s when I looked up from their dead bodies, saw a figure looming over them. It was dark and blurry through the tears, yet I still felt like it was familiar. ‘NOO!-‘

My body snapped up out of the bed, my cheeks damp from the tears and sweat. I was shaking, what kind of horrible nightmare was that? Looking over toward the deep cherry wood vanity in my room I had to make sure I wasn’t still sleeping. My heart felt like it was about to jump from my chest, everything felt so real, so vivid. I could still see my parent’s dead expressions in my mind, see their blood smeared on the wall. I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to take a few deep breaths to calm myself, it wasn’t real, my parents were most likely still well and in their beds. Yet, I couldn’t help but feel the need to go check on them.

Twisting, I placed my bare feet on the floor, the chill ran straight up through my spine causing me to shiver. “Everything is fine Eva…” talking to myself was a comfort, however, I tried not to do it publicly as people often thought I was nuts. Then again, my duel colored eyes were enough to make people either take a step back out of uncertainty or a step forward with curiosity. Duel colored, yes, the left a deep blue and the right a light grey almost silver color.

The castle was quiet, I placed my ear up against the door in attempts to try and hear the guards, if they caught me I would be dead…rather, sent back and /they/ would check on my parents for me. It was a real pain in the ass, having people care for me all the time but I’m not about to complain too much. Slowly opening the door I poked my head out, spitting out some of the deep red hair that had decided to sneak into my mouth as I leaned forward. I must have looked like a mess, pale blue nightgown with messy hair that was clinging to my face because of the sweat. My looks weren’t of importance though, no not right now, I had to make sure not to get caught.

(here you go, hope it works, if not let me know and I can change it ^^)

Tonight was the night that I had to do it. I'd been trained for seven years for this one moment. Torture, pain, training, starvation, thirst and even blood had gone into preparing me for this day. Now, I stood in front of the castle that housed my target: The princess. On my back I wore a quiver of arrows, twelve deadly projectiles housed inside. In my belt I had a short sword and a dagger. I was prepared to do one thing: kill her or die trying. Failure was not an option.

I slowly slid my way under the cover of darkness to the outer wall. With a black hood concealing my form, I was an inky patch among the mirth. I dribbled two small drops of a poison onto an arrow and strung it, raising it to a full position. This particular section of the castle was the least guarded, due to it facing an extensive plain with very small spaces to hide. They hadn't expected a master assassin to take out the one guard and slip in under the cover of darkness. Their foolishness was my gain this night.

The arrow hit the man in the side, and the poison went right to work. He was dead before he hit the ground, the venom having gone straight to his heart and stopped it. Taking a bit of rope, I attached a large rock and threw it up, catching it on a loose stone at the top. Making sure it was secure, I made my way up the side.

After scaling the wall, I checked my bearings and discovered the princess was three chambers down the nearest tower. Drawing my short sword, I ran forward and caught the man by the door to the tower and knocked him out, slicing his neck open. The red liquid spurted over the wall as I slowly opened the door and slipped inside.

My heart was pounding. This was the night. I was not allowed back to my home until I had killed the princess. That was my mandate. That was my goal.

It was strange, I had paused and tried to listen for any sound or sign of a guard, non. No tink tink, as they moved with their heavy armour or whispers as they spoke and tried not to wake everyone up. Opening the door further I looked around again, no one, well that was a good sign for me anyway. Walking out of the room I paused in the hallway, an eerie silence, there was a part of me that wanted to hear something, anything. My parents were located in the next tower over, my mother never really liked the idea of having to sleep in the same tower as her children. My siblings had moved on, sisters married off and the two brothers...dead.

Taking in a deep breath I tried to calm my racing heart, scared that if there was a guard around he would surly hear it. The path was not well lit, "outch-" I stubbed my toe on something, biting my tongue and pressing myself up against the wall as if to hide from anyone who might peer down it. /DONT LEAVE!/ the voice screeched in my head once more, it was horrifying, causing me to close my eyes and wish it would go away. Quick, I had to hurry up and check on them.

Pushing out from the wall I quickened my pace, something was off though, something didn't feel quite right. I turned my head, had I saw something out of the corner of my eye? Perhaps, it could have been a rat...even a bat, the castle wasn't always safe from the vermin that plagued the rest of the villages. Keeping forward I continued to walk, until, "what the-" my foot touched something, it was warm and strange. For a moment my toes moved in the substance trying to figure things out, what was it? Warm and gooey, I had been staring down for an extended period of time before slowly taking a step back and glancing around for a torch, there should have been some lit...why were they all out? How hadn't I noticed this before? Chills slowly started to crawl up my spine as the remnants of a blood curdling scream from my nightmare jumped into my head, nothing about this was good.

The princess was on the move. I slowly readjusted my course of action and slid my way towards the ticket, getting nervous when she continually started to move. I had to go ahead of her in order to take out any guards that would be in my way. I kept moving and tried to do something in order to stop her, yet she seemed determined to move.

Yet suddenly, her entire process slowed. I looked down at her from my perch and everything began to click for me. I slowly dropped down from my ceiling perch and hit the floor, silently as possible. I drew his sword and I instantly pulled it towards her. Smirking to her, I slowly walked over to her and got ready to strike her down. Thsi was my chance. To go home and redeem myself.

(Is it alright with you if I switch us into third person? Just wanted to give first person a try but it seems to be stumping my mind)

Eva looked down at her feet, she could see the outline of a figure on the floor but there wasn’t much more than that. Her stomach turned as her mind finally pieced together what was happening, this was the guard. Covering her mouth the young woman quickly spun around, ready to run and fetch someone until she spotted the figure approaching. It was hard to see, yes, but the outline was still there and after all the ‘horror’ she had already been through that night she sure as hell wasn’t in the mood for this. Screaming she knew it would draw the attention of the rest of the guards. The dogs immediately started to bark as if they were rabid creatures trying to break free of the chains that held them. Eva knew she could have been imagining things and that she was going to get in shit for sneaking out of her chamber at this time of night but she wasn’t exactly thinking about the punishment at this moment.

“GUARDS!” She screamed again, hearing the pounding feet of the upcoming guards and the scratching of the dog’s claws on the hard flooring. By this time Eva had taken a few steps back, tripping over the body of the deceased guard and landing in his blood. Another scream emitted from her terrified figure, her mind too jumbled to actually know what was happening anymore. Panic had struck her, she was facing death.

(if you ever need me to write more, or take something out feel free to say so ^^)

Hillin growled when suddenly his prey noticed where he was. He twisted his sword in his hand and threw it straight at her head, both his precision and accuracy a dangerous combinAtion. At the last second, she tripped over the third guard he'd slaughtered, an as a result the sword impelled the way behind her. With that attack failed, he recalculated exactly how much time he'd have until the guards would show up and dispatch him. He groaned when the numbers didn't appear to be in his favour.

Drawing two identical knives, he spun one in each hand and threw himself at the wall, hitting the wall and kicking off for propulsion. Throwing himself at her, he prepared to kill her in that exact moment.

Fear struck her as she saw the sword fly inches above her face seconds after she had tripped over the guard. She was going to be killed, this was it, all because she decided to leave her chambers and check on her parents. Had her mind been in a more logical place she would have realized that this hadn't happened because she left her room and that the man would have most likely been after her anyway. Eva's eyes grew wide as the figure started to run toward her, what the hell was she suppose to do?! Panic had already flooded her system, she wasn't thinking straight and did as most people would do in this situation. Threw her arms out in front of her and braced herself for the impact. The guards had been so close, she could hear them shouting as they ran 'HURRY!' but it would be too late.

The men burst into the room just as the assassin was inches away from the princess. The dogs had lounged toward the intruder, attempting to sink their sharp teeth into his flesh as a last attempt to try and save the princess from the death that awaited her.

Twisting himself around, he drew his daggers and tried to fight off the creatures. The first dog he killed when it was nearly on him. The second came an inch from his arm, snapping air where flesh had been a second ago. The dog met his end with a knife in his skull. However, the sheer amount of time he had to take gave the princess enough time to summon more guards and further lower the odds of him surviving this ordeal. He groaned inwardly at the situation.

Drawing his last resort, a small hunting now and arrow, he loaded it and pulled back st her, firing. However, a sudden jarring impact to the side meant it cut her right earlobe, but didn't hit her neck. The arrow shattered on the wall as Hillin saw her face.

Her face. Two beautiful eyes staring across a room. A pretty smile of both innocence and curiosity. Fear dominating her features. Her perfection. She was completely perfect. Perfect. He couldn't kill her. She was too innocent...

The guards subdued him and his hands were tied behind his back. He still kept his eyes on her the entire time.

Eva had been able to scramble so that she was standing, watching as the dogs attacked first, the guards close behind. Their howls and painful yips had been shattered by the daggers which dealt the deadly blows. Their blood splattered on the walls, she could hear the crack as he knife made contact with one of the dogs skulls. Then came the second resort, she was frozen in place like a deer staring at a bright light.

She felt the tearing of her earlobe, the blood started to run from it as she slowly reached up, baffled that she had actually been hit. Why was she so shocked? Staring back at him she watched as the guards restrained him and started to drag him away, one of the guards had rushed to her side, questioning her on everything that had happened. Eva, however, was in too much shock to actually answer the man, the rest of the night was a blur.

That day however, was anything but a blur. The lecture she had been given from her father, the yelling that ensued and the threats against the assassin. Her father was trying to think of the best way, most painful away to rid the man of this world and yet still get information from him as to who had sent him to slay the princess.

Eva stood by, taking everything in, soaking in the ridicule. Her ear had been stitched and bandaged, the white cloth wrapped around her head. It wasn't rare for royalty to be sought out and killed, Eva often suspected that her brothers mysterious death's hadn't been quite so mysterious but no one would listen to her. Now it was happening to her though, instead of being shocked and scared now she was determined to figure out why. Eva wasn't in line for any throne, the best her parents could do was marry her off to some prince with lots of land or a king for that matter. She was instructed that she wasn't to go down to the dungeon and that the assassin could still be dangerous, but much like before, she didn't exactly follow the rules when it came to staying in her chamber.

Later that night Eva made her way down to the dungeon, she knew what time the shift change was at, knew their movements well enough to sneak into the dungeon after one set of guards left and right before the other entered. Able to close the large metal gate behind her and lock it, sure the guards had the keys for the lock but they wouldn't have much luck with her key already stuck in the hole from the opposite side.

Making her way around the labyrinth of cells she tried to ignore the dying gasps of other captives as she looked for the one captive that mattered.

Hissing the entire way down, Hillin would thrash and push his way against them. He screamed and bit, howled and kicked. He made it no easy task to drive him away. He was so violent he broke one man's knee. That man was carted away and he was subdued by three guards.

Screaming, he was thrown in one of the three darkened cells. He groaned and stood up, instantly calculating how he could escape. He narrowed his eyes and stared straight into the bars, placing his hands on them and running his hands along them. From the feel and the noise they produced, he knew they were solid. He sighed inwardly and began running his hands along the wall.

They were rock, held together by what seemed like thick mortar. He kept moving his hands along them, as though they were delicate glass. Soon, he had traversed the entire cell and confirmed it would be almost impossible to remove the rocks.

Even though everything said he couldn't, he knew first-hand that no prision is escape proof.

After a few hours of meticulous planning, he heard the noise of his target. He quickly smoothed his hair and stood by the bars, "hello."

The dungeon was damp, musky, the smell of rotting flesh was not too far off causing Eva to cover her nose with the cloak she was wearing. She had to cover herself somehow, just incase the guards did see her and decided to inform the King that his daughter was sneaking around again. The thrashing that she would receive wasn't one that she liked to think about. The threats the man spoke of, she knew he couldn't do anything too drastic like cut off her hand, but he sure as hell could give her scars that were easily covered by clothing.

Approaching the bars of the captive, Eva tried to put on the best cold face she possibly could, trying to hide all the fear that she had previously shown. He was behind bars, what could he do to her anyway? Nothing, right? Pushing the thought from her mind she narrowed her eyes on the assassin, "cut the formalities and get down to business. Who sent you?" her true motivation, find the truth behind her brothers' deaths, they couldn't have all been 'accidents'. Not to mention, it would sure be nice to know who the hell was after her head.

Faced to face with the man that tried to kill her, sending shivers down her spine Every instinct in her body told her to run, to hide and hope that she wasn't found. But the logical side held her there, feet firmly planted in place, searching for the truth .

Hillin casually leaned against the wall, yawning to dissipate the tension that hung over the room. He gave a small sly smirk. "Princess, I wouldn't tell you information that could compromise my life."

He made his way to the edge of the cell, reaching around to find a piece of rock. He held it before whipping around ,throwing it at her. It hit the bars and shattered. The throw was obviously meant not to hit her. It was more to catch her off guard. While she was reeling from the shock, he slid up to the bars and leaned his back against it, relaxing and acting as though this was a casual day in the woods.

"I won't kill you." He said simply, "nor will I give you information that you need. If I did then you'd have no use for me. Then you'd kill me, and you know it." He laughed, "trust me when I say this isn't the first torturing I've survived, and it won't be the last."

Eva watched him, the sly smirk made a chill run down her spine "your life mean's nothing now that you're down here, you are as good as dead either way you put it" she mentioned coldly. It took everything she had to keep still and stand her ground as he moved, that was until the rock came flying toward her, the instinct, ducking. Tucking her head down she waited for the impact and paused as she heard the crash against the bars, slowly looked up and noticed that the rock had shattered. The force that would have been behind it in order for the rock to shatter in such a way must have been immense.

Slowly standing up straight again she looked toward him, shocked that he would actually throw a rock in her direction. Then again he had also tried to kill her so why should it really surprise her that he would be so violent? Hearing a slight slamming sound Eva looked toward the staircase, the guards would be trying to get in by this point, she didn't have much time left.

"Of course you wont kill me, you are in a cell and the only way out is to be dead" she told him, the fact that he wasn't telling her what she wanted didn't exactly thrill her. Hearing the door slam open she flinched, "well, maybe you should think about your choice, one of us has the power to reduce the torture, perhaps we could...work something out" she mentioned and turned around. She had to get the hell out of there before the guards found her, she may have some control over the amount of torture the assassin would endure but had no control over her own punishments.

Hearing her shiver made his confidence rise. He knew that people would break of fear was raised in their hearts. As such, he wanted her to get scared of him. Build up fear in her and make her burst. When she did, she'd sneak him out. He'd done that twice, so he was rather skilled at it.

"Oh?" His mind shifted from petrification to this little proposition. He looked at her and narrowed his eyes. She held some truth to her words, yet he wasn't sure how much he trusted her. She seemed to have some hidden seriousness that was coming out n small amounts. He didn't want to evoke anger inside her. Yet her option wasn't one he could pass.

"Tell me more." He smirked.

"I...don't believe you have-" she cut herself off and looked back, "I will be back later, I suggest you think about your options of handing over information or death" with that she ran off toward a darker corridor as the guards burst through the locked door and started to march downstairs. heir first instinct was to check on the assassin, make sure he was still in his jail cell, this gave Eva time to sneak behind and make it back to her room for the night.

Would the assassin actually think about what she said? Consider things or ignore the proposition and laugh in her face the next time she went down? This thought kept her awake for most of the night, how would she know if he was lying or not? What if he just told her stories to get the reward and then still tried to kill her? The idea of trying to bargain with someone that would most likely be happy to slit her throat the first chance he got made her nervous, more than nervous, it scared her.

Eva made her way back down to the cell once the day was about to break, after staying up for so long she felt like she was ready to pass out but yet she still hadn't been able to get any sleep. It had been the same trick as before, she locked the door behind her and left the key in there. Walking down to the cell she peered in to see if the prisoner was sleeping. "I need to know more about who sent you" she spoke bluntly, straight to the point while she held her breath and tried not to show any fear despite feeling it flow through her entire body.

Hillin looked up from his fake slumber to hear the woman from the day before speaking to him. A small grin spread across his face as he realized that she was going to be desperate for information. As such, he could play her like a chess piece to try and escape. If all went well, he would be able to get himself out of this cell by raising her fear to the point where she let him go for her own safety. All he had to do was play along.

"You know, assassins hire assassins." He scoffed, then at up, "You know the kingdom to the north? Well, I was hired from the white peaks. Whom it was I am not sure. I was informed by a letter with no name on it to do so, with a stamp from the king of that land that if I failed I was banished. And as such, I beleive that I just became a permanent resident of your kingdom."

He stood up and walked over to the bars, smiling again.

Eva nodded "yes", this was an out right lie, she had no idea how assassins were hired but with the tone that he had said this in she didn't exactly want to look like the idiot here. Nodding again she listened about the kingdom to the north, she hadn't ever really been away from her own kingdom but she had heard of others. Now that he was sharing this information she became somewhat suspicious, is that all it took? A simple bargain to get someone to speak? "The king hmm?" she questioned and took a slight step back as the assassin came to the bars of the cell. "Why would the king of the north want me dead?" she had questioned herself and shook her head. "Do you know of any other assassinations that the king has paid for?" she questioned. Her question, however, sounded rather odd was she phrasing herself properly? "I mean against our kingdom, I mean, I care about the other kingdoms sure but its not my main priority and I really-" she cut herself off realizing that she had forgot to breath and that she was rambling. "Any other assassinations against my kingdom?" she cleared her throat and tried to regain her composure as she thought about this assassin becoming a permanent resident to her kingdom because he failed to kill her, it wasn't a pleasant thought.

"You really know nothing about the other kingdoms, do you?" He scoffed, sitting down on the small bed and looking her in the eyes. His two orbs shone into hers like small daggers into her heart. He was used to doing thing such as this in order to make people scared. When someone was scared, it was much easier to force them into doing what he needed. Even if they didn't know it.

"I was sent a hawk." He said, almost nonchalantly, "Attached to it was a letter saying that I was to kill you and if I returned without something to show I killed you then I would be forever banished from the kingdom. That's all you can have from me at this point." He leaned back and closed his eyes, smiling.

Normally, people would tell him that he was already giving away too much information. However, he needed to reel her into him. Once she figured out he wasn't giving more information, he would use his intimidation to break her and force her into letting him go.

Eva glared "I know plenty about the other kingdoms" she told him stubbornly and crossed her arms. The look he was giving her however made a dry lump form in her throat, it was like he was seeing through her lies, seeing straight into her soul. Shaking her head she tried to look strong, "a hawk, and you accepted the threat just like that? No questions asked?" she questioned, trying not to sound awestruck. Why would someone believe such a letter, such a cold King to banish one of his citizens because- Her thought stopped, they had banished people for simpler things than that before, in fact banishing because an assassination was not successful sounded possible.

"At this point?" she questioned and raised a brow "You are not in a position to be making such decisions. If you want the punishment reduced then...then I suggest you tell me more" she wasn't use to being harsh on people and it was pretty obvious she was trying hard to keep her composure. "I need to know more about why the king would want /me/ dead, I serve no threat to his kingdom" she pointed out and tried to give him a stern look only to have a chill run up her back from the look in his eyes.

"You really do not know of the politics of the region, do you?" He laughed and sat down, again using his typical stares and his attitude to put her in uncomfortable territory. It was almost an art, as though he was literally painting the target onto her to make her feel more vulnerable, "the letter had the seal of some king...Artemis? Whichever it was. All I know is he owns the region. It's a no brained that you obey the king." He was, of course telling a tremendous lie. But the way he said it seemed more believable than anything. Like his lies were just truths that had to be more thought of.

"You're the only child of both the king and queen, my dear. If you were to die and then the king and queen, no one would be able to figure out who to put on the throne. If that offered, the kingdom would fall and be easily invadable. Now, if they were killed but you were not, then you'd assume power before anarchy arrived. You serve a crucial purpose, girl." He said nothing more.

Eva didn't appreciate the laugh, she felt like she was being mocked by the assassin. "What I know is not the subject of this conversation" she snapped back and shook her head. Why was she feeing so intimidated, other then the fact that the man had already attempted to kill her and throw a rock at her. /Damn it, stand strong Eva/ she thought to herself and took a deep breath. "Artimetis..." she corrected and lifted her chin, trying to appear as strong as possible despite the fact that her inner self was curled up in a ball whimpering. "Right, of course you would obey the King" she nodded and glanced toward the stairs. The Knights hadn't tried to break through yet, what were they doing exactly?

Turning her attention back to the assassin she looked suspicious, "I was told my only purpose was to serve as a pawn" she told him, "not to take over my kingdom, no, my husband would do this. If I were to die then my arranged husband would take the throne" she mentioned and paused. /Shit, way to go Eva, yea just open your mouth some more, blabber on more/ she snapped at herself and turned around. "Have you already assassinated someone from this kingdom?" she further questioned, moving off of the topic of herself and fishing for answers to her brother's deaths.
