The One From an Alien Planet

Cortana kept a hold of his hand, looping her arm around his neck and pulling himself close. She sighed and kissed his head lightly, her fingers pressing into his sides gently.

Ren hugs her, his heart beating a little hard, though he remained calm. He didn't notice it until now, but his heart had been beating like this non-stop since the two of them's eyes first met after he'd saved her from drowning the other day, not a single moment of which it changed paces in the least, aside from when Kotori had crushed his spirit.

Cortana smiled at him, holding him close. She could hear his heart hammering in his chest from here, and she leaned down. She pressed her lips to his to reassure him that everything was going to be fine.

Ren kissed her back softly, his heart still beating as hard, though he was distracted from it, and was no longer worried over it, as he knew the reason his heart pounded. He was too distracted by Cortana's unique beauty that his body couldn't keep his heart from beating any slower. He smiled at Cortana. "Well, let's go then, shall we?"

Cortana smiled and nodded, leaning into his forehead softly before standing back up and taking his hand. "Let's go." She whispered.

Ren smiled, his expression turning completely opposite just after he looked outside. Right there, stuck on the railing of the stairs, were the two ribbons Kotori always wore to keep her hair in twin tails. Ren knew that Kotori'd never take those off, which made him quite worried that they were there. What's worse, was that there was a hoodie all torn up and hanging in the tree just off the railing. Ren was clearly worried about Kotori at this point. He held Cortana's hand a bit tightly.

Cortana looked at the railing with alarm. She walked forwards, holding his hand lightly. She stared at it, Koroti's presence gone from sight. "She is gone." Cortana whispered, knowing that her fellow comrade must have been called back to her dying planet. She sighed and looked up towards the sky, staring at it.

"It's worse than her just gone... She'd never, and I mean never... take those ribbons off..." Ren started to head back inside, pale and full of despair at the site of Kotori's ribbons and destroyed hoodie. He fell on the couch, face-up so he could stare at the ceiling. It was just like back when Kotori first went missing. He was too depressed and shocked to do anything but lay there.

Cortana came back to sit on the end, rubbing his cheek gently. "Hey, it will be alright." She said towards him, staring at him with concern.

Ren just laid there, not saying a word. He was clearly too upset to do anything right now, and there were few ways to get him out of this state without waiting for him to get out of it.

Cortana sighed and moved onto the couch. She wrapped her arms around him as she patted his head gently.

Ren hugged Cortana lightly, otherwise motionless. As though he lacked purpose or existence, he proceeded to ask Cortana a stupid question. "Hey... Is this... asking too much...? Clearly... I asked for too much... That's why... Kotori was taken from me..."

Cortana sighed, holding onto him. "You are just fine." She said to him, holding on tightly to him.

"U'm sorry, but... I think I'd like to be left alone for a while... Oh wait... I have to go to school... Even my request to be alone is asking too much of this world..." Ren slowly moved Cortana out of the hug, then proceeded to his room. He walked out a few minutes later, lazily dressed in his school clothes, which were pretty much the same as what he wore, except it included a different color of pants, as well as an overcoat of sorts. He carried a bag in his hand, now headed off to the door slowly and tiredly.

Cortana watched him, being able to feel the sadness coming off of him in waves. She sighed as she watched him leave, like he was practically dead. She laid on the couch for a while, the whole endeavor leaving her sad and bitter. Now what was she supposed to do? She couldn't follow him, she had to respect his wishes.

Ren made it to the school, going to his classroom and slumping down in his chair, staring up at the ceiling as he leaned back. The entire class knew something was completely wrong. Ren never got depressed like this unless it was serious. His best friend even decided not to approach him.

Cortana spent most of her day staring at the ceiling glumly. She walked out to the patio for a long time, letting the wind ruffle her short hair. She thought about leaving, and couldn't get it out of her mind all day.

Ren's club started just as school ended, and he'd managed to at least fake his normal self, though was quite obviously still depressed. He sent his best friend over to his house to pick up his phone that he'd forgotten earlier, as well as to tell his friend at home they can come and see him. His best friend did just that. After greeting Cortana, he waited for her to choose if she would follow him or not, holding the door open for if she decided she would follow.

Cortana looked at the friend before slowly nodding, getting up off the couch. She thought she would at the least see him before she would say her unfortunate goodbye. She could not bare being a burden to him at a time like this, where he only wished to be alone. So she put on a smile and walked out after him, clutching her bow in her hand just in case.

Ren's friend lead Cortana to the school's dojo, where Ren could be seen in the midst of an intense sword fight with wooden swords. He was actually up against about ten guys who would attack him from all directions. He was quite skilled with a sword. He looked a lot less depressed, though his inner self was far beyond torn. He was moving swiftly to the sides, forward and back, blocking, dodging; he was just barely keeping ahead of the other club members he was fighting. There were about thirty others that were watching on the side.

Cortana blinked, turning to see everyone. None of them looked the same, besides the clothes they wore. She however, was like a sore thumb sticking out from the rest with her short hair and purple skin. She was also fairly tall considering what most of the girl's heights where. She simply sat down close to the door, watching Ren closely.

Ren eventually got to the point he was tiring out. He didn't care though. All he wanted, was a way to close his mind off to the feelings of despair that came from the knowledge of Kotori disappearing a second time. Ren made his way backwards through all the wooden swords, dodging, blocking, and even flipping backwards over one. He made it to where his back was towards Cortana, and the ten people were in front of him. He lowered his wooden sword, showing the ten he was fighting that he's exhausted and ready for a break.

Ren looked back over at his best friend as his cellphone was tossed to him. He caught it, taking immediate notice of Cortana. "Oh, hey." He opened his phone to look through any messages and calls he might've missed. After a moment, he walked over to where his bag was, putting his phone away and pulling out a bottle of water. "Well, that was a fun match. Next time, I'll go for twenty people, and an hour-long fight. Oh, archery's next." He walked over to where all their weapons were at, putting the sword away and picking up a bow.

Cortana pursed her lips as he left, leaving her with a dull hey. She let a sigh, escape her lips as she stood up and headed for the exit.
