Pain... Darkness.... that is all Cortana could remember. She opened her eyes slowly, her body immersed in water. She took a sharp inhale, realizing that is was not air. Her hands clasped around her throat as she tried to breathe. Slowly loosing strength, she swam feebly towards the surface. She could feel her vision blurring, spots of black appearing here and there. She closed her eyes, and gave one last push with her legs.
Her face broke the surface, reaching into the cold air. Immediately, she began to cough out all the water from her lungs, her chest heaving. She had scratches and bruises as she relaxed, passing out as the waved brought her to shore.
Ren starts walking on his way to his friend's house. He stops by a large body of water on his way there, which he usually stops at to calm himself. He never knew if it was a huge lake, or the ocean, but he didn't care. It was a beautiful sight every time. He walks up to the water. He sees the water moving a little bit, then he can see the girl struggling to reach the surface. When she gets up there, he runs over to help her up.
He kneels down next to the girl, her barely breathing from swallowing the water. He drags her further away from the water, turning her over. He starts to perform basic CPR. After a few minutes, he starts to go so far as to help her breathe, mouth-to-mouth. This was his first time actually kissing somebody, even though it doesn't technically count as kissing.
Warm... something warm. That was all she could make of her situation. Until something was pressed to her mouth. Her eyes shooting open, she was meet face to face with a stranger, causing her to pull away and cough out the rest of the water. Trying to move away, she looked at the man, frightened and scared for her life.
He stumbles back at her sudden reaction. "Are you okay...?" He looks at her, his eyes worried for her condition. I really do hope she's okay now... Wouldn't want my first kiss to have been a waste... Especially when it was to save someone as cute as her...
"Shi u!" Cortana yelled, her form shaking and her eyes wide. Her tattoo's glowed dimly in the moonlight, her tongue, skin and nature all showing that she had no idea where she was. She was covered in scorch marks and cuts, her vision blurring as she tried to stay awake.
Ren sees the cuts and burn marks all over her, his eyes widening at the sight of such wounds. He slowly walks up to her, trying to get close enough to check out her wounds. "What... happened to you...? What happened to leave such wounds...?" His eyes start to shake, worried for her even more than before.
Cortana began to shake so violently that her skin was turning a light purple, the tattoo's light growing dimmer. "S-shi u!" She yelled again, smacking his hand away from her, slowly fumbling for a arrow, but soon found her quiver gone. Worry came to her eyes as she looked for her bow, finding it and holding it out in front of her.
He slowly takes hold of her shaking hand, his hand calm and warm like a blanket. He slowly starts moving the hand holding the bow out from in front of her. "You're in no condition to be pointing a bow at somebody... Don't worry, I won't hurt you..." He slowly gets closer, now looking at her wounds, making sure she's not injured too badly. He pulls out a handkerchief from his shirt pocket, as well as a bottle of water from the bag he dropped behind him. He pours a little water onto the handkerchief, putting the cold, wet part of it on to one of the burn marks, careful not to hurt her as he does so.
Cortana watched his movements, muttering a string of incomprehensible words in a different tongue. She winced at the feeling of water on her skin, her eyes still showing fear as she had not understood a word he had said. She blinked once more, soon seeing the ground grow closer as she passed out from exhaustion.
As she falls back, Ren tries to catch her. He barely manages to stop her from hitting the ground, then lays her down carefully. He takes out a small towel from his bag that he carries to dry off the water every day. He soaks it with the cold water from his bottle, folding it up and laying it carefully on her forehead. He takes out some bandaging to cover the scratches on her arms after wiping them off with his wet handkerchief. He barely has enough for her right arm and half of her left, the rest of the scratches on her left hand still uncovered.
Ren sees a burn mark on her neck, pretty bad at that. He uses what little water he has left to soak his handkerchief. He takes out some scissors from his bag, cutting off a long strip of his shirt. He places the handkerchief, folded in a rectangle, using it to cover most of the burn, using the piece of his shirt to tie it so it doesn't fall off.
He's done just about all he knows how to do. "All that's left is to carry her somewhere where she can rest better..." He picks up the wet towel from her forehead, placing it back in his bag, putting his bag over his shoulder, then proceeds to lifting her up, carrying her on his back. His apartment is closer to him than any of his friends houses are.
He walks about half a mile with her on his back before reaching his apartment, which he now has to climb three sets of stairs. He walks up each stair with caution, yet making sure to go as fast as he can.
Cortana was having a violent dream, or a memory we shall call it. There was fire, and her hands where pressed to her face, the fire burning her back. But for some reason she didn't care. She could feel a hole being punched though her heart. Her hand reached up to her chest and clutched at her shirt tightly over her heart.
Ren makes it up the stairs, now opening his door. He walks in, laying her on the couch. He goes to the kitchen, getting a brand-new wet towel to place on her forehead. He grabs some more bandaging as well, returning to her as quickly as he can. He lays the towel on her head, then proceeds to cover up the remaining cuts and scratches on her left arm.
He walks over to the kitchen, getting a bowl of hot water, setting a towel inside of it to soak up the water. He sets it on the table next to his couch, returning to the bathroom to grab more supplies in case she has more cuts and wounds on her.
He takes off the small jacket she has on her, wrapping her cut and burnt stomach and back as best as he can. He would remove her shirt as well to check her shoulders, but it would be rude to remove a girls shirt, regardless of the circumstances. Instead, he just continues the wrapping of her stomach until all the wounds have been covered.
Ren walks back into the kitchen, calling his friend while he makes some dinner, making sure there's enough for if the girl wakes up again. His friend answers the phone. "Hey, I can't make it tonight. I've got a few... issues to take care of." He switches the phone to his other hand as he cooks to make it easier to do everything. "I completely understand buddy. Call me back tomorrow so we can set up another day," his friend replies, then hangs up.
He puts the phone down down on the counter behind him, now using both hands as he cooks. He turns the stove up a little, grabs some spices from the counter to his side, sprinkling a little bit of each in. He takes a taste of the stew, it coming along nicely. He keeps stirring, slowly adding spices until it gets the right taste. He puts the lid on top of the pot, then walks back into the living room to check on her.
(Sorry if I'm putting a lot. You can respond to each part individually if you want.)
Shuffling, she could hear something. Suddenly, bit by bit, things start streaming into her ears. The sound of feet moving, the smell of something cooking, and then the rest came all at once, like a wave. Jolting upwards, Cortana made a loud groaning noise, her stomach clearly bound by some sort of cloth. She dug her nails into the couch, noticing that some of her clothing was removed.
He hears her groan, him having just finished cooking the pot of stew. He looks in the living room, seeing that she's woken up. "Hey, you feeling okay? If so, I've got some food for you." He walks into the kitchen, walking back out with two bowls full of vegetable stew. He sets her plate on the table with a spoon beside it, him sitting in a chair on the other side of the table.
Ren's shirt is partially open, him hot from standing over a steaming pot. He starts to eat his stew, it being the most delicious he's ever made. He watches her, worried about whether or not she's feeling good enough to eat. He swallows, then speaks again. "Why are you so quiet...? Is it that you're not feeling well, or are you just shy...?"
Cortana looked at him with wide eyes, still showing fear. She had apparently changed locations to a small hut, and the stranger was offering her a liquid of some sort. She leaned over and sniffed it cautiously, poking one of the vegetables with her index finger. Seeing it move, she immediately recoiled her hand. "Shi ju hana bo totsu!"(Are you trying to poison me!) She demanded, glaring at him.
He looks at her, seeing her retract her finger after poking one of the vegetables. "Is it too hot...? He reaches over the table, taking a spoonful of the soup. He blows on it a moment, then puts it in his mouth, swallowing it. "Hmm... It's not too hot... Is it that you've just never had vegetable stew before...?" He sits back in his chair, looking at her with kind and calm eyes. He returns to eating his food, waiting for her to try the stew. (Well, I'll be going to bed now. Got a long day ahead of me tomorrow.)
Cortana glared at him. She was really considering using one of her throwing knives to get him to understand... if she hadn't lost them in the ocean. Huffing, she crossed her arms and glared at him. "HI JUE TADA DESU!" (That does not answer my question!) She yelled at him, frustrated because she couldn't understand. (night~)
Ren looks at her with a confused smile on his face. "I'm sorry, but what did you say...? I can't exactly understand you, you know...?" He has a little awkward laugh behind his words, as well as is holding the back of his head, major signs that he's confused and doesn't understand her. She's speaking some language I don't understand... I guess I won't be able to talk to her all that well...
Cortana huffed, poking at the soup again. Deciding better of it, she took the spoon and copied his movements. Soon she was staring at a spoon full of soup. Carefully, she brought the object to her lips, the liquid easily sliding down her throat. Her eyes widen in surprise, picking up the bowl and taking another spoonful.
Ren laughs a little bit, it being the most friendly laugh the world has ever seen. "Is it good?" He eats more of his, watching her as she eats, smiling without even realizing it. She must have been really hungry.
Cortana didn't even notice, she was to busy eating. She went to take another scoop, but found the bowl empty. Making a small whine, she turned the bowl upside down, sighing. She placed the bowl on the table and looked at the spoon, turning it over. She held it like a knife, throwing it at the wall.
"Whoa, calm down. There's more, you know." He picks up the bowl, walking over into the kitchen, filling it back up. He walks back over to her, setting her bowl back down with more in it. "Here you go- Wait, where'd my bowl go...?" He looks around for his bowl, unable to find it, him bad when it comes to finding things, even if they're right in front of him.
Cortana had gotten impatient and had taken his bowl, and ate the entire thing using his spoon. She looked up at him, licking her lips, and eagerly taking the other bowl.
"You know what, I'm just going to bring the entire pot in here..." He walks back to the kitchen, getting himself a bowl, bringing the entire pot with him, then going back to retrieve his new bowl. He starts to eat his food again, watching her, as she'll probably end up eating directly from the pot.
