[The Official RPN Character Challenge 2015]The Lobby!

Outbreak cackled madly at the girl's question. "Why do I corrupt the apple? It would be boring if it was normal... how boring life would be if everything was 'normal'" he said with a wide grin. The apple at this point was brittle and dried up. Outbreak tossed it away. He turned looking at the others around him, the girl he was speaking to before who never shook his hand, and another boy. Glancing back at the girl who offered him the apple. "You want me to be perfectly honest? I'd have killed everyone here already... but these 'gods'" Outbreak's expression quickly withering at the thought of them. "These 'gods' are preventing such a thing..." Outbreak said. Outbreak's eyes dashed between the girl and the boy standing front of him. These people were standing so close to him... no one has ever stood so close to him without being killed since those lab scientists that kept him in his cell for 4 years of his life. These thoughts only served to unhinged Outbreak even more. Now these 'gods' were telling him who to kill and who not to kill. He despised them. Hatred burned in his eyes as looked at everyone. "I need to inflict pain on something..." he muttered, suddenly craving violence. Immediately, his expression turned dark, a sinister smile and a murderous look in his eyes. "You guys know someplace where I could wreak a little havoc?"

Erin hadn't been expecting Fredrick to play, but she was all the more excited when he picked up his violin. For a moment, she wondered if he had misunderstood their request for a story but the thought was put to rest when Fredrick began to tell about his homeland. Not that the question was even at the forefront of Erin's mind as the music began to fill the area. It was easy to see that Fredrick knew what he was doing- Erin's attention was only for the music. She didn't even look over at Euli to see what his expression was, which she tended to do during movies and concerts. She liked seeing if people were reacting the same as she to certain events. But not this time, not during this musical tale.

Fredrick's voice was at one with the music, and his words painted an image in Erin's mind of what his home must be like. And as he continued to play, and to tell his tale, Erin's mind brought up memories she thought to be long lost of her mother playing- though her mother had had a preference for a harp, not a violin. Tears welled up in Erin's eyes and rolled silently down her cheeks, the girl powerless to stop them. When Fredrick finished his song and wiped at his eyes, Erin hastily attempted to do the same but the tears continued to fall. And they weren't tears of misery or sadness, but pure joy and of loss. She missed her mother dearly, but her memories of the woman were when she was sick- not when she was a beloved musician.

"Yeah, amazing." Erin said, voice a little shaky as she rubbed at her eyes with the palm of her hand. "It was... really, really pretty." Erin attempted to compose herself, and was ashamed when she was unable to. "Euli's right, Fredrick.... You're a...a great... storyteller." She added, giving him a rather watery smile while she continued to rub at her eyes. "Do you... have a story... that you'd share?" Erin asked, turning to Euli though her gaze remained on the ground thanks to the embarrassment of crying.

"Do so of your own accord. I care not about the rest hereafter. I should warn you...try anything funny towards me and I will not hesitate to do something rash to you." Skye slowly walked away from the small gathering, her swords rattled gently against her clothing.

Stopping for a short while, she leaned her head behind her, with dark eyes glaring at nothing in particular.

"Do you think a mere virus could affect me...? I will waste no more time with you..." Turning her head towards the direction she stood, Skye continued walking away, as she resumed looking around at the building, admiring its clean state, ignoring everyone...

Chance.

That’s what she thought when she heard Outbreak’s question. Angkasa was looking for an opportunity to bring someone, anyone to find the orc that came to the lobby earlier. He looked more like an organizer than a participant himself, so if knowledge is power, then the orc’s power was more than his muscle. Beside…the ‘Gods’ were preventing the virus from killing anyone? It made sense when she thought of it. If this ‘almighty set of trial’ test more than the ability to annihilate each other, it would be troublesome for them if participants who met their criteria were killed before the trial began. So these ‘Gods’ were at least wiser than she thou-

Asa’s thought were halted by the sight of a little girl who was moved to tears by music. She looked so young, barely out of elementary school. And the Gods chose her to participate in life and death battle?

Never mind. Those gods were heartless bastards.

Her attention was back to Outbreak. “I don’t know where the place is,” she said calmly, “But I know how to find someone who does.” She looked straight at him. “If you want, I can help you find him-” Her gaze were void of emotion save for the seeping icy feels. “-in exchange for a little deal.”

Freki had been fast asleep. Then an apple, rotten to the core hit him and burned. Snapping upright both he and his brother homed in on a corrupted human. He reeked of the Rot God. Prowling forward both growled lowly, drawing Dues Irea's attention. He ran up and grabbed collars to slow them before letting out orders in Infernal. Both stopped dead about a foot from the man, a wall of teeth, hellflame, and chains. Looking at the man Irea asked the sensible question. " Just what the hell do you think you are doing, Servant of the Rot God?". His voice was loud, and he clearly was tensed up.

@rapjack123

Lyon looked around at the group. The woman was right, these people did not look like the safest to be around. Especially that blonde guy. Lyon couldn't put his finger on why, but he was just... unnerving. Something about him reminded Lyon of the fish markets, which was not a positive association due to the amount of time usually spent getting the fish up to the floating city. The fish markets... or the poorest areas of the town, where buildings fell down around the ears of the homeless people desperate enough to live in those decaying ruins. Yeah, that was it. The fish markets, the ruins... or the morgue. Lyon winced in disgust as the man bit into the rotten apple. And now the woman Lyon had tried to start a conversation with was busy with the man, whose eyes were almost glowing with hatred and anger, which was almost as terrifying as the next thing he said.

"You guys know someplace where I could wreak a little havoc?"

Lyon's eyes widened and he backed away. He'd noticed a corridor leading off somewhere, before. Maybe now was the time to be exploring that instead of hanging around here with the creepy guy complaining about how hard the gods were making it to kill people. Lyon started slowly towards the doorway, then picked up the pace a little.

Two hell dogs immediately called Outbreak's attention. He cocked an eyebrow at them. "They pets of yours?" Outbreak asked the man that approached him. He noticed that his virus pathogens couldn't touch the dogs without them burning. Interesting... When he asked what he was doing here, Outbreak froze when he called him a servant of the rot god. Outbreak's eyes became impossible wide as he glared at the man. "I am servant to no one," Outbreak said in a tone that implied he was threatening him. Outbreak continued to eye him until the girl he was speaking to answered his question. Outbreak turned to her, grinning. "A deal? What might that deal consist of?" Outbreak probed. He noticed the boy that decided to leave the conversation and chuckled. He will give that boy hell later. But for now... "I want some blood." @ViAdvena @Invisible monster @Firelava

" More family then anything, but yes. And right now I am the thing preventing them from turning you into a tourched chew toy. If not the Rot God then why can I smell the plagues running rampant on you? My Daemonic heritage protects me, but also tells me you drip of the stuff. " Dues said.He sensed a desperate rage in this man. Something or someone had broken him like a beast, but did it the wrong way. They created a monster.

@rapjack123

Outbreak laughed at the man with the dogs. "A torched chew toy? I've been through worse," he said, smiling madly. "The plagues running rampant? Yes... observe," Outbreak said, inhaling deeply. He directed his virus towards his lungs... and attacked his own respiratory system. Suddenly, Outbreak lurched forward coughing uncontrollably, blood spilling from his mouth. When he composed himself, he stood upright again, streams of blood falling down his chin. "Ah... that was refreshing. I control the air. If only I could do the same to you," he said, eyes widened in glee at the taste of blood in his mouth. Outbreak wiped his mouth, blood smeared all over his hand now. "Does that explain it?" He asked, holding his crazed stare. @Firelava

" My heritage means your little pets cannot hurt me, and mine can hurt you VERY badly. If whatever world you crawled out of doesn't expose you to the scions of Hell, then i will be a very new experience for you. Hell decedents don't suffer from disease unless they serve the Rot God. I suspect you can feel that your plague is not in me, or my dogs. " Irea said with disdain. There where many types of broken creatures in the worlds, but he was one of the worst. The mind seemed to think that because it was a Metahuman it was unkillable. He hoped he would have a chance to prove him wrong.

Outbreak took several painfully slow breaths. "Hurt me... please do. It's more exciting that way," he said. Then he remembered the girl offering him a deal. "Remind me again what deal it was that we were making?" Outbreak asked the girl. His virus had already begun patching up his lungs. A perk of having a highly catalyzed virus that could also serve as an immune response to other diseases.. not that he wouldn't completely dominate the airspace anyway. Hm... so the guy was entirely unaffected by his virus. It seems like relying entirely on his power wasn't going to cut it. That was fine... Outbreak was a mastermind at improvising. He looked at the girl to await her response.

Dilan sat at a table eating a chuck of meat he 'found' and watched the little group curiously 'peculiar bunch....talking about demons and diseases.....why cant they just punch things normally? Its so much simpler' he was never one to fight different ways. All he had are brass knuckles and he hardly used those and his venom but he forgets that thing even existed so it didnt matter. He then smirked a bit as he stared at them 'actually with their 'powers', as they call it, it might make it more of a challenge to fight them....' He chuckled to himself at the thought of entertainment 'cant wait...'

Fredrick smiled as he reached into his pocket removing a small white silken cloth. He handed Erin his handkerchief waiting a moment to let her compose herself. "I am glad you where touched considering our situation its good to see we are not alone." as he put his violin on the table beside him. Looking over the room it had seemed the tension was less violent or confusing than it was before. Erin's inquiry towards Euli had Fredrick curious as well for who knows what other worlds exist in this plane. So many years studying on history left Fredrick pondering now in this voided land that perhaps there was more beyond the seas and skies of his own world. The excitement left Fredrick dazzled as he looked to Euli "How about it than do you happen to know a tale or two of your world?" adjusting himself to a nearby seat to relax in.

"Very very nice. Hmph." Roxxane swished around, realizing she missed her chance to counter-attack him with an awesome insult about him being a Barbie doll, but he was already gone and on a rampage. "Stupid dwarf. I could easily kill him with my "Note" book... if I still had it." She searched for a likely candidate to converse with, but she decided to look cool and lean on the wall, moving about every ten minutes.

One or two times she fell over, but she "played it cool" by sitting, one hand over her knee, and staying there until she became self conscious.
"First I lose the Death Note, now i'm stuck in a room with a bunch of jerks I don't even know. I sure don't hope someone starts makin' fun of my..." She self-consciously touched her left eye. "OW! Wait, sh**! My contact! I look like a freak, one red eye, one green. Thanks, so-called gods, for blessing me with this fantastic day!" Many thoughts flooded her head as she began her search for her missing contact, most of which consisted mainly of curse words. She couldn't find her contact, not even after bumping into the walls almost 20 times...

((I suppose
@Aiakaos would need to see this... I think?))

As she was searching for her missing contact, she bumped into a leg. "Hey, f*** off, I need my contact..." She crashed face first into a wall, and closing her eyes, she mumbled, "I'm bored of looking anyway, entertain me... whoever you are."

((terrible intro, I know. @KingHink ))

Thus was the strangeness of this world. So little made sense. Guys wearing bird armor with a veritable pair of Baskerville hounds that thought he came from a depressing world. That was actually kind of funny And hmmm... who hasn't he been cynical about yet.... what was over there? Ah yes! A chick addicted to apples and a rather sickening man attempting to get a more extreme but similar fix. He also heard someone playing a violin. There was also someone harping on about her christmas eyes like people cared earlier. The giant bug monster was actually seeming much more normal now.

Then, as he felt someone bump into his wet leg and thought it right to blame him for it. Screw 'em. He got here first. He was going to ignore the matter. It seemed to be a rather unthreatening thing that looked human. Lo and behold it was Christmas eyes. "Don't care." He mused unamusedly as he crossed his arms. "Here is a suggestion. Go fuck yourself... have fun."

No worries @Roxxane Lexanna , it works.))

With both Fredrick and Erin now asking for a story from him, Euli puffed up his chest confidently. After that amazing tale from Fredrick, he wouldn't want to let them down and be seen as a party pooper. "How about I tell you of the time I met a big, bad Werewolf?"

It may sound like it was some special life-and-death encounter sort of thing, but not really. Living in the Forest came with its ups and downs. Meeting a Werewolf was something that happened every other day, especially with their rivalry and competition for land. Of course, that didn't take away from the rush that he had felt when he saw the huge, buff Werewolf, and it was something quite unforgettable for him.

"So it happened when I was around ten, when I was still living in a forest and wearing rags for clothes. There was a stream near my home where we'd go to catch fish, but it was pretty close to Werewolf territory, so my family never let me go there by myself. I was really hungry one day though, because I got into some trouble and didn't get to eat dinner, so I left my family and went to the stream to look for food, and as I was just about to catch a fish, a shadow loomed over me... When I turned around, there he was, a big ol' hairy Werewolf standing right behind me. He was huge, burly, and had tattered clothes." Euli shuddered upon remembering the old pieces of clothing that hung off of the Werewolf's body. Really, wear something nice or don't wear anything at all! "The guy snarled at me and all, 'cause, well, Werecats and Werewolves don't exactly get along well. I was pretty terrified, because I've never came face-to-face with a Werewolf like that, and I thought he was going to kill me. But he just told me to get out of there, so I just scurried away back to my family. When I told them about it, they went completely crazy about it." Euli paused, and stared at nowhere in particular as if deep in thought. Quietly, he said, half to himself and half to the Fredrick and Erin. "They kept saying that Werewolves and humans would kill me, but I always wonder if there are those that are different." With a sheepish laugh, Euli looked at the two in embarrassment. "Nothing interesting, really, just a childhood memory. I'm sure Erin has a much better story to tell."

Skye continued walking around at a rather slow pace, wishing her knuckle-head friends were there. Andrew and Alex. The best friends she ever had. They respected her and acknowledged her strength. But from the short time being here, all she had ever met were two unfriendly crazed idiots thinking too high and mighty about themselves. She sighed as she took another apple from her pouch, chewing the fruit eagerly, glancing around the building..

'A well-kept place isn't so befitting for a person without character.' She turned towards the diseased guy at a good distance, noting how engaged he was in his conversation. She then saw the same fire ant brooding about something and a few others who didn't seem so much interesting..

She sighed to herself, chewing the other half of the apple, savouring the last of its juice, siltting on a nearby chair with nothing to do...

@anyone

Angkasa was about to open her mouth to answer, but then there was a loud snarls and searing flames, and before she knew it she found herself only several feet away from the blazing-

Hellhounds? She stared at the supposedly mythical creatures, both fascinated and alerted although none of them shown on her face (people who only looked at her might think she was staring at the lamppost). And the man behind the creatures was no less foreign. The way he dressed remind her of an ancient tribe long gone, and savage was the first word she thought of him. He said something about Rot God and hell…and of course from all people here, the person who Outbreak happens to provoke is also someone who was immune to the virus, she thought, almost with sarcasm. If she could engineer more unfortunate coincidence like this to her future opponent, maybe it would be easier for her to stay alive.

She shifted to the side, out of the hellhounds’ path so in case they were accidentally let loose, she wouldn’t be one of their accidental chewtoy. “The deal is about finding the place where you can fight.” Asa answered flatly. “I know a way to find that place, but-” she pointed at herself, “I would appreciate it if you remove your virus from me first.” She paused for a while. “Not that it will be useful now since the gods prevent it from doing any harm.”

Erin accepted the handkerchief from Fredrick gratefully, dabbing at her eyes in a way she had seen done on TV before turning away from the other two to blow her nose. When her face was... as clean as a face can be after crying, she turned her full attention to Euli, excited to hear a story of his as well. She gasped, eyes widening when he said that he had met a werewolf. She remembered hearing about them from some 3rd years at Hogwarts. They're supposedly really vicious and will kill their friends without a second thought. But then Erin paused, a stray thought running across her mind... what if werewolves in Euli's world weren't the same as the ones in Erin's world? The idea really made Erin want to be able to go to where Euli lived and see what it was like. Same with Fredrick's home. What an adventure that would be!

Erin continued to listen, dread creeping through her as Euli continued his story. Her eyes were rather comically wide due to the fact that she was truly concerned for the fate of the pink haired cat. It didn't cross her mind to consider he was actually all right even though he was standing right there in front of her. Erin could feel goosebumps rise on her skin when Euli described the great beast that was behind him, and she couldn't help but shudder as well- the idea of turning around and seeing a monster giving Erin the absolute creeps. A complete feeling of relief swept through her when Euli was allowed to go back to his family, who were rightfully upset.

"I'm so glad you're ok." Erin said happily, when Euli had finished his story. She noticed that Euli had said werewolves and humans. Why would humans want to kill such cute and happy creatures? It was something that Erin couldn't comprehend. She wanted to offer to bring Euli to her home, that humans were different there.. but something told her she was wrong to think humans where she lived were any different then Euli's humans. Funny, she could consider werewolves being different between worlds and yet humans remained the same.

"Me have a story?" Erin asked, rather surprised. She opened her mouth to say that there was nothing interesting about her world because it was normal. She promptly closed her mouth when her inner voice mentioned that to each of them, their worlds were normal too.

"I... don't know what to say." Erin started doubtfully, thinking about what she could say. She supposed she had had an eventful life, as much as anyone but she couldn't think of a good story to tell. What's special about you, Erin? And then she figured it out.

"I suppose... I mean, the day I found out I was a wizard was pretty cool. I mean, it was a pretty normal day... I got to see my Dad and he and I went to the zoo for my birthday! I um... well, do you guys know what a zoo is?" Erin didn't really pause to wait for an answer before continuing to explain: "It's where all these animals of all sorts are kept and people can go and say hi to them whenever they want! Well... not whenever. Only during the day time. Dad says we can't go at night because animals have to sleep, too." Erin said. She found her fathers explanation to be completely logical.

"Um, well after the zoo we went out for lunch and then we went back home and we were reading when this owl flew to the window. Dad was silly and tried to scare the owl away but it wouldn't leave. Then I saw it had a thing tied to it's leg and it was a letter for me!" Erin said enthusiastically. "It said that I got to go to this school called Hogwarts where people with magic go. Before that letter I didn't even know there was such a thing as magic and dragons and werewolves. There were just regular people- uh humans. And they couldn't do anything special. Well, I mean... you know, magical special. I'm glad magic is real. And dad took me to get my wand after that, see?!" She pulled her wand from her pocket, showing it to Euli and Fredrick proudly. "It's got a Hippogriff feather core and it's made of Rowan wood." She admired her wand for a moment, before realizing that Euli and Fredrick might not know what a Hippogriff was so she launched right into an explanation. "A Hippogriff is this great big animal with an eagle head, front arms, and great big wings and then it has a horse butt. They don't like when people are mean to them. In fact if you're mean to a Hippogriff, they'll attack you. So... you can't be mean to a Hippogriff and I can't be mean to my wand, or it won't work. Or worse, it'll do the wrong thing instead of what I ask." Erin was completely clueless to the minor fact that she had been rambling away, her mind jumping from one topic to the next. She grinned up at Euli, and then over at Fredrick, proud that she had had a story to tell as well.

Outbreak grinned at the girl. No point in refusing because it wouldn't do him any good to stay around with the sight of some violence. "Fine," he muttered, a dark smile remaining glued onto his face. This girl was smart... and she knew how to negotiate. Very smart. Outbreak wrestled with a newfound respect for her. No... she'd have to do way more than that to get on his No-Kill list. For now she'd done enough for him to agree to her deal without saying no out of spite. "I'll take the virus out of you..." he told her, recalling the virus from her body. She'd most likely feel the effect. The virus was a lot like a parasite when I simply floating around. In order to maintain a presence in the victim's body, it tended to leech off the host. It so minuscule that people usually didn't notice. Ususally... knowing her she'd probably sense it.

" So, Plagued one, tell me, if you do not know of my Dark Gods how do you survive this infection? It seems powerful and fast. " Irea directed at the boy. At 6 and a half feet tall without his helmet he looked down on the otherwise large man with question written on his face.

@rapjack123

" And girl, i would speak more of you, but with less listening. I have a few questions for you, you seem intelligent enought for a good talk while we wait on these forgetful gods." He directed this to the girl Outbreak was cleansing. @ViAdvena

Skye sat there with a blank expression, hoping that the gods would hurry with whatever trials they had for them. All she wanted was to return to her home and continued training. Still, maybe these trials may be of benefit to her.

Her eyes glanced over to a guy who just stood without a care in the world. Well, at least there seems to be someone else who would have rathered the process to be much more speedy. She folded her hands neatly against her chest, crossed a leg against the other, as she sat still glaring at him with her default stoic expression...

Running through dark alleys hoping each turn would lead to an exit than an obstacle, but Ace's hopes soon were crushed. Appearing before him a great figure with sharp pink spikes fighting their way out of its forearms. It began to switch from a golem to a failed organism gushing blood. Ace being back to a wall, saw no way out but to use his artifact. Ace begged for someone to help other than his soldier self, the one he hates the most. As the monster started closing the gap, all rays of the sun started to fade. The Dark alley started to get darker and darker until nothing but pitch black.

Awaiting for his doom, Ace stood frightened with his eyes closed. Seconds passed like minutes, till he opened his eyes seeing a dark room with white shadows of people in it. A room where he's the odd one out, Ace began to wonder if this is the after life and what would become of him.

'You have been chosen by the Gods to participate in an almighty set of trials. Win, and you will earn the ultimate glory. Lose, and you will disappoint us. Good luck, challenger!'

Ace legs gave out from the loud echoing voice, "w-what, ww-who?" Ace said hoping the voice was all in his mind. Soon after the white shadows began to form colors and converse with each other. Ace stood there as the room shifted to a whole new scenery making his question his sanity. Everything looked so futuristic, so clean, so dream like.

When the virus was taken away from her, at first Angkasa didn't notice anything different. But as she put her hand on her chest and inhaled, she felt her breath was somehow...lighter? She didn't even notice that her breathing became heavier before. Perhaps her respiratory system is indeed more sensitive than she thought. "Well... isn't that nice..." she mumbled. Her attention then shifted to the hellhounds owner. Questions? What kind of question?

"I'm honored you see me as such." She looked at the towering male. "But if you are about to ask about our current condition, I don't think I know more than you do." She was referring to their sudden and random participation to this 'almighty trial'. "If not, ask away. But before that, let me check something first..." without further explanation, she maneuvered her way around the man until she was standing not far away behind him, close to the entrance of the lobby. In there, she knelt on the floor, observing the surface of the tiles. She remembered clearly that the orc from before carried a giant battle axe with him. And he dragged it on the floor. If a normal chair can leave scratches on tiles, then a freaking giant axe would leave more than that. Sure enough, she quickly spot the trails, apparent discontinuous marks from collisions with a blunt object. The trails extended to the corridor outside of the lobby, and probably to the place where the creature reside. It's enough to lead them to him.

A sparkling object on the floor caught her sight. At first Angkasa thought it's a gem, but when she picked it up, it became clear that the object was a contact lens. A red contact lens. She stand up, holding the contact lens carefully in her hand. Now, what kind of person wear red contacts? Probably someone who goes for the gothic or scary look if she based it on the trend in her homeworld. She gave her surroundings a quick glance, and her gaze fell on the back of a dark-haired male whose voice and body language indicated that he was pissed. Yep, like that guy. Walking a little so she could talk to him without shouting, she raised the object in her hand slightly. "Yours?"

@rapjack123 @Firelava @KingHink @Roxxane Lexanna

Sighing as the girl wandered off he followed her, climbing up onto Freki to ride if he didn't have to walk. He would follow her, and see just who it was she was trying to find in this mess. At this point he would welcome a break in the monotonous talk this place seemed to breed. He glanced back at Outbreak and called " Pray that i do not fight you human, for next time i won't reign in my Dogs. ". It might come off cocky, but hewas a Gladiatorial Beastmaster. He had proven himself to thousands, and apparently even the Gods. Such was a rare claim.
