Conor Sullivan and James Porter

James raised an eyebrow when Alex mentioned the hotel and he placed his hand to the side of his head as he recalled the night of Gianna's death, the same night Fortuna used the defibrillator to electrocute him. "I believe I know of it too," he spoke up, his tone neutral. "I spent some time in one of his rooms, in the basement, I recall." When Alex said they would have to trust her to get them in through a backway, James knew he didn't have any choice. They had to try anything they could to get to Finn.

Conor looked down at Alex as she stood close to him. His eyes a mixture of determination and grief. He trusted her, despite there being something in the back of his head that was telling him to be cautious in case she wanted revenge for him betraying her own trust tonight. "I trust you," he decided, pushing any doubts out of his mind. He didn't want her to get hurt, but he nodded in agreement when she said he had to let Lucy and James punish her if she broke their trust. He doubted it would come to that. He felt like he knew Alex enough by now to know she was being honest with him.

James unlocked the door of the pub and looked over his shoulder, expecting Conor to stay close to Alex. "We're going in my car," he informed the group. Though he hadn't spoken up to say he trusted Alex, the fact he was going ahead with the plan should be enough confirmation he was willing to take the risk. With Conor and Alex in the back, James drove with Lucy by his side and gave her a concerned look and a gentle smile, hoping they would all get out of this in one piece. He said very little during the journey to the hotel as he was focused on the job at hand and keeping his mind in the zone.

Conor was pretty silent himself, his mind busied with thoughts of what the Romanos might have done to Finn and what state his cousin was in. He also felt pretty low sitting next to the girl he loved yet had been forced to betray. He had a perfectly good reason to break her trust, but it didn't make it any easier.

As they neared the hotel, James finally spoke up. "What do you propose?" he asked Alex, figuring she had a plan for getting them inside the building.

Leo looked Lorenzo in the eyes and shrugged. "You can't change what you've already done. You can only change what you do from here on. Either you get away from here and your cousin, or you change things and see if you can have a positive effect on Vinnie. He's an asshole and he's done many bad things, but there must be hope for even him. He cared enough about Athena, somewhere in that mind of his. I have no real reason to try help that man and I'm not sure how long it'll be until I can speak to him again. You're his family..."

Leo lifted his glass to take another drink. "Yeah. Single and depressed..." he bitterly agreed.

Alex sat in the car quietly staring out the window as they drove to the hotel. Convincing them to trust her was the easy part, carrying out the Plan was going to be hard, but not impossible, she hoped. For her plan to work, Nicolo needed to be somewhere in the hotel and hopefully somewhere easy to spot and she needed to avoid her father. When James spoke up, Alex jumped from her thoughts and refocused her eyes to see that they were approaching the hotel. "Park out back by the big bins, it a blindspot in the camera's and its easy to get out off quickly" she said very quickly, it was obvious that Alex knew this information from experience. "Park up and get over to the door at the back of the left hand side of the building, Ill make sure my father isnt near and let you's in" she replied "but let me out here".
When the car stopped, Alex hopped out quickly and ran towards the hotel, she peered in through the bar windows and thankfully saw Nicolo sitting at the bar. She entered the bar and made her way towards him, cautiously looking out for her father but luckily he was no where in the room.

"Nicolo" she greeted as she reached him, her voice was low and there was an air off seriousness in her voice as she grabbed his hand and motioned for him to follow her. He obliged without a word and followed Alex to the utility cupboard, once inside Alex locked the door behind her.
"It was horrible, Alex" Nicolo stated suddenly, as Alex studied his face she noticed there was something off, he looked almost broken and extremely traumatised. "What was horrible" She asked.
"He went too far this time Alex, way too far. I thought I could handle it, I thought it was only fair but I was wrong, Alex even Monte would be affected" Nicolo rambled. While Alex wanted to help her brother, she knew that this was not the time, they needed to act fast.
"Snap out of it!" She exclaimed suddenly as she whacked his shoulder. "We need to get Finn out of here!" Alex pleaded with him "I promise I will explain everything at a later date but please" she pleaded. Nicolo stared at her for a long time before slowly nodding to her.
"Right you go distract the guard get him away and I'll be down with help, as I said you need to play along with me, trust me and I will explain everything later but please do not tell father". Alex said before unlocking the door and making her way to the ballroom.

Nicolo nodded, unable to really say anything other than where the room was before Alex left the room. He quickly followed suit and made his way down to the interrogation room. Nicolo pulled himself together before turning the corner and coming into contact with the two goons. He got into small talk and eventually persuaded them to go home and that he would sit watch tonight, on orders of Vinnie. Once the Goons left, Nicolo entered the room and switched on the lights, the sight of Finn made his guilt worse and he slowly made his way over towards him. Nicolo picked up the knife and placed it as far from Finn as he could before moving back towards him. "I'm so sorry, so sorry" he said softly as he undid Finn's restraints.

Alex peaked into reception and couldnt see her father from her angle, she hoped he was gone for the night or off in his office, wherever he was, she hoped he stayed far away from the basement and ballroom. Alex entered the ballroom and pushed herself to fight through the overpowering emotions and memories which flooded her. As she passed the spot that she had lost saw her mother, Alex froze momentarily as tears began to roll down her cheeks. She blinked back as much as she could before walking for the door, which was behind the stage. Alex opened the door from the inside and let them in. "Yous arent going to like my plan, but yous are going to have to trust me" she said as she wiped away her tears with her sleeve. "C'mon, Im afraid the damage may be already done"

James let Alex get out of the car and followed her instructions, parking the vehicle at the back of the hotel by the bins. Upon getting out of the car, James placed his arm around Lucy's shoulder and walked behind Conor to the back door where they were to wait for Alex. James was by now worried that Finn had been gone for some time and he could see it was getting to Conor too.

By now, Vinnie was back in his office taking a personal call from one of his female cousins, so Alex managed to dodge the man completely.

When Alex opened the door, Conor didn't hide his relief. He placed his hand on her shoulder, but quickly pulled away, figuring she wouldn't want him anywhere near her. He could see her tears and the fact she said the damage may already be done did nothing to help Conor's fears for Finn. He didn't think twice about trusting her and following inside the building.

James also followed Alex, maintaining his composure and calm exterior. He had a feeling he was going to have to keep his emotions locked away in order to get Conor, Lucy and possibly Finn out of this. Something told him Conor and Lucy were going to struggle with whatever awaited them in the basement.

Lucy was relieved that everything had turned out the way it did, despite some minor trust issues, they were making progress and hopefully everything would turn out all right in the end. Lucy slid into the passenger seat of James' car staying silent as she stared out the window the dark street zooming pass them as they made there way to the hotel. Lucy looked over to see James offering her a gentle smile, a concerned look in his eye. She returned the smile and moved her hand to rest on his forearm for a moment. Letting him know that they would all be okay.

She hoped that they would be able to get to Finn in time. Alex told James what the plan was before requesting he stop and let her out of the car right as they pulled up. He did as she commanded before heading to the area she had told him to park at. Lucy felt impatient now that they were so close to where her cousin could potentially be. Once the car stopped they moved out of it towards the door, James wrapped his arm around her shoulder, which was comforting and made Lucy lean into him slightly.

It took what only felt like a few short moments for Alex to poke her head through the door, opening it wide enough to let them in. Lucy looked closely and saw the tears in her eyes, the words that came from her lips weren't comforting in the slightest. Lucy's jaw clenched and she followed behind them all. It occurred to Lucy that the last time she'd been in this hotel...was when she killed Gianna. Her shoulders tensed slightly and she held her breath as she continued to follow behind.

The seconds turned into minutes which could have easily blended into hours...even days. In the dark, there was no windows in the room, alerting him of the time that was passing around him. No sound came from the room as he continued to let his head hang, rest was useless, his body was in too much pain to rest. Finn would continue to cry until the tears were all dried. And when that moment finally did come, the lights flipped on and someone had walked into the room. Finn couldn't see anything at first, his eyes stinging and the light causing a sharp pain to radiate from behind his eyes, in his head.

Finn didn't turn to see who had came to pay him a visit, quite frankly, he didn't care what happened to him in that moment. But as the footsteps came closer to him, curiosity peaked. His eyes weren't adjusted well yet, but from what he could recall, the young man standing before him was Nicolo. Finn said nothing as the man grabbed the knife and moved it even farther from him. He worked to free Finn from the restraints and Finn wondered if this was were he was to die. Nicolo muttered apologies to him, sounding heartbroken and guilty. Finn looked to the distraught young man and offered him a hollowed smile. Trying to comfort him despite having just been ruined by him. "I understand why you did it, lad." Finn said to him, his voice sounded odd, strangled almost.

He was trying to become the man he had once been only a few hours ago. It was all in vain.

When Conor put his hand on Alex, she felt a little comfort however when he pulled his hand back the comfort left. She understood why he betrayed her earlier and the fact that she was still alive added to the reasons why she wasn't annoyed with him anymore, however she knew now was not the time to reassure him.
As they followed her inside, Alex wasted no time in leading them down the backroute and side passages to the basement. She could only hope Nicolo had done what she said and that he hadnt betrayed her. As they approached the basement, Alex grabbed Conor's hand briefly and sent him a small smile hoping that would be enough for him to realise that they were ok.
"Stop for a second" she whispered to them as she suddenly stopped at the corner. Alex slowly made her way around and was relieved to see that the goons were gone, meaning Nicolo had done his job. She returned to James, Lucy and Conor "Okay the coast is clear" she said before leading them over to the door. Once they stood outside the door, Alex stopped and turned to the three of them "I don't know what happened and I don't know whats waiting behind this door but from what I could gather it's bad, possibly worse than what happened to you's, so just prepare yourselves" Alex said this calmly but inside she was terrified to see what her family had done to this innocent man. She didn't even know if he was alive. "I'm not going to apologise on their behalf but I myself am sorry for whatever they have done". With that, Alex turned away from them and opened the door. She was terrified that Nicolo had betrayed her but instead what she witnessed was Nicolo knelt down beside a very broken man.

Nicolo looked bewildered at Finn when he said that he understood why this had happened "dont try and make excuses for me, this was wrong and never should have happened" Nicolo stated as he finished undoing the restraints. He couldnt believe that Finn, the man he had just watched try to kill himself, was trying to console him. Nicolo deserved no such treatment and he knew that. Before either could speak again the door swung open and Nicolo watched as Alex entered, followed by Conor, Lucy and James. His eye's widened as he quickly stood up "What the Fuck are they doing here?" He practically growled at Alex, however one could tell that he wasn't fully there and that he didnt fully care.
"Shut up Nicolo, you promised you'd help and not tell so get to it" Alex said in a very stern and somewhat terrifying voice. Nicolo stared at her "your helping the... " before he could finish what he was saying, Alex had interrupted him "and now so are you, I will explain all later but for once in your life stop being like Vinnie and do the right thing". Seeing the state that Finn was in, disgusted Alex to the point that she couldn't even call Vinnie her father. She had no idea what they had done to him but she could only guess it was more psychological than physical. Nicolo didn't answer and instead took a step back from Finn allowing his family to rush over to him.
"We wont have much time so you's need to move quickly" Nicolo warned the Sullivan's. Before they tried to move Finn, Nicolo moved beside Conor "I'm not going to apologise and I still dont like you but what happened here was too far, even for my standards" Nicolo said to him quietly. "Keep a tight eye on him and keep him anyway from sharp things" with that Nicolo left the room, he made his way back to the lobby to keep an eye out for his father and to distract him if necessary. While he was angry and confused about why Alex was with the Sullivan's, he would keep her secret but him and Alex were going to have a serious conversation later.

After Nicolo left, Alex hung awkwardly back as she watched them tend to Finn, she waited so to be ready to lead them back out of the hotel when they were ready.

Lucy had been prepared for the worst with Finn, but the words that came from Alex's lips were not helping make it any easier and as she opened the door to the room Finn was being held in. Lucy was the first to step forward after Alex, Conor seeming to need a moment to mentally prepare himself. Lucy was greeted by the sight of Nicolo undoing the last of the restraints. Lucy's hand went to her mouth as she covered it in horror. Finn didn't look like the same man that she had seen only earlier that day. His face was bruised and swollen in multiple different places. For the most part, the man seemed physically uninjured..but as Lucy's eyes met his...she saw nothing but emptiness.

Lucy ignored the exchange between the two Romano siblings and knelt down beside Finn. "Luce?" Finn croaked out lightly, his voice sounding like he had swallowed sand paper. A small smile played on her red painted lips as she nodded her head. "We are here to get you out of here..." Lucy told him soothingly, slightly brushing a strand of stray hair from his forehead. Finn's eyes closed slowly at the gesture. "Home?" Finn questioned, to Lucy it sounded like it was a word that Finn thought he would never hear again. "Home." Lucy told him before looking him over, she watched as tears slowly fell down his cheeks. "Anything hurting or broken?" She asked to which Finn nodded his head once.

"I think I have a few broken ribs..." Finn said to his cousin, his familiar warm tone was hollowed out and strangled...and it cut through Lucy like a hot knife. It took everything in her not to fall apart for her cousin, she knew that if she was going to be apart of these situations that she would have to turn off initial emotional reactions. Blowing out a breath, she looked to Conor and James. "He's gonna need to be carried I think..."

Alex had taken Conor's hand for a moment on their way down, reassuring him the two were going to be okay. That just left him to worry about Finn now. When they reached the basement, Nicolo made a point of telling Conor he didn't like him. The Irish man simply nodded, the feeling being mutual. "If only your father had limits..." Then he was advised to keep his cousin away from sharp objects, which sounded alarm bells to both Conor and James. Conor sent Alex an apologetic look before properly stepping into the room to see Finn.

Conor hung back as Lucy first spoke to their cousin. He could see the bruises on Finn's face, but it was the look in his eyes and the way he spoke that worried him more. This was all too familiar to Conor. He soon joined Lucy and knelt on one knee so he was at Finn's level. "We're here now, mate," he softly spoke. "You're safe now. Maggie, Aidan, Sinead, Carrick... everyone is safe." Seeing the young man's tears made Conor force back his own and try to hide his own upset for the moment. Lucy said he'd need to carry Finn and Conor nodded. "You hear that? Just like our nights out - me carrying your ass home," he lightly joked, his voice almost faltering. He doubted Finn would find much humour in it, but the alternative for Conor was showing his anger and upset. What the Romanos had done disgusted him. It feel like his heart had been repeatedly crushed tonight and he hadn't even learned of Sinead's drama yet.

James kept back, staying close enough to Alex and the door to ensure this wasn't some sort of a trap. Still, he could see the state Finn was in and also how upset Lucy and Conor were. James heard the way Finn spoke and could tell he was deeply disturbed by what had happened to him. James had been prepared for this, but even he couldn't remain detached about it. As James quickly turned away from the Sullivans, Alex might have noticed his eyes glistening as rogue tears tried to fully escape him. Seeing Finn in this state really did affect James too, contrary to what others may think.

Upon hearing Lucy say Finn would need carrying, James dried his eyes on his sleeve and rushed over to the group. James helped Lucy to her feet, taking a moment to look into her eyes. He knew she was staying brave for Finn - they all were. He would make sure to let Lucy unload her feelings once they were home and in private. "Let's get you out of here, Finn," James suggested. He then glanced to Conor and the two strong men helped Finn up to his feet. They allowed him to rest his full weight on them and were as mindful as they could be about his physical injuries. "Lead the way... cover us," James said to Alex and Lucy - the last part to Lucy as he handed her one of his two guns. In reality, she wouldn't need to use it as the path to the car remained clear and Vinnie remained busied in is office.

Alex watched as Conor and Lucy looked over Finn, the man looked broken and she couldnt imagine what had been done to him. She over heard what Nicolo had said and his words made her feel sick, sick that her family had somehow made a man clearly suicidal.
She noted the tears in James eyes and was a little shocked by it, maybe he wasnt the stone cold robot that she had assumed he was. When they had lifted Finn up and told Alex and Lucy to cover them, Alex began to lead the way back which they came.
The path luckily was empty and they quickly made it back to the ballroom and out back into the carpark. Alex stopped once they reached the door leading to the carpark. "My father wont know you's were here as we stayed in the blind spots the whole time" Alex told them. Now was the hard part she was going to have to confront her father about Finn and how she helped him escape. She was unsure if Nicolo would say he helped or if Alex was on her own in these, either way it wont be pleasant. "Ill wait to make sure you get out without any issues, but then Im going to have to speak to Vinnie" Alex stood in the doorway and waited to make sure they got away without a problem.

After David dropped off Maggie, Carrick and Aidan at the house, the young woman was quick to enter, hoping the safety of the house would put her more at ease. Whether it worked is yet to be known. She was not looking forward to bearing bad news, and hoped Aidan, upon her tearful request, would take over that responsibility for her. At least to break it to her. Maggie was disheartened to see Carrick leave the house, but she knew he needed some time by himself. She just hoped he was back safely soon. The poor boy had siffered enough already. She let a smile slide however when Lady so graciously greeted her and Aidan at the door. She bent to the puppy's level, thus recieving a few licks to the cheek. She was pretty sure if she stuck with Lady all afternoon maybe her worries would wash away. If only...The arrival of Sinead had Maggie back on her feet in a second, smile now dissappeared and replaced with a mixture of concern for Sinead and her own sadness. The bruise forming on her cousin's fac, along with the bandage, posed so many unanswered questions. All at once she knew what happened with Finn wasn't the only tragedy that night.
In Sinead's small rant, Maggie breathed her name in confusion, her questions slipped by her, most likely because she had her own. She was glad to hear Aidan speak however, to give her cousin a small summary of what had happened. The more questions came out, the more Maggie thought up ways to answer and the harder it was not to release a tear again. 'Sinny...what happened?' Sinead's arms around her prompted Maggie to return the hug. Her face was buried into her shoulder within a moment, the hug now compelling her to let go. Tears flowed freely from Maggie as her body shook in Sinead's arms. A pit of guilt welled up in her stomach for crying for Finn when she knew Sinead had suffered tonight too, but she couldn't take it anymore. There was no more screaming, no more unnecessary cursing, just a mess of flowing tears. 'I'm sorry.....' she spoke quietly, the guilt increasing.

Finn had stared at Lucy blankly when Conor spoke to him, only registering him a few moments after his cousin had finished speaking. Sure, he heard his words but his response time was terribly delayed due to the lack of ability to feel. Finn did nod his head however, offering a hollow smile as if he were trying to reassure Conor and Lucy that he was going to be okay. Finn felt like the furthest thing from okay in that moment.

Lucy was about to pull herself to her feet when James' hand offered her help. She looked up at him and took his hand, standing slowly. Looking into his eyes, she could see that he was making sure she was alright, she didn't miss the slight redness around the rim of his eyes wondered if this upset him more than he would let on. Perhaps they would have to talk about it later on, Lucy was always letting out her feelings to James, maybe he needed some release. Lucy helped the men adjust Finn so that he was both easy to carry and comfortable.

"Watch the ribs." Lucy murmured worriedly as she looked to her cousins' side. Nodding her head firmly as James told her to cover them, she took one of the guns that he offered before walking closely behind Alex, looking back to make sure everyone was following before looking forward. They got to the door they had entered from without any problems, for which Lucy was relieved. Turning to look at the men, Lucy nodded her head after Alex spoke. Lucy turned to the girl and offered her a small smile before quickly leaning in and hugging her tightly, figuring it was time she expressed just how she felt about the girl. Lucy didn't mind Alex...she was simply in the same position as Lucy. Anyone who could deal with the consequences of Vinnie without so much as batting an eye deserved Lucy's respect. "Thank you." She whispered to her before heading out the door towards James' car, ready to open the doors for them.

Sinead hated seeing Maggie looking so sad. Her poor cousin had done nothing wrong to be going through this kind of worry and Finn hadn't done anything to warrant whatever the Romanos were doing. When Maggie asked her what happened, Sinead quickly shook her head, feeling this wasn't the right time for her problems to be discussed. Whatever had happened, Sinead was home now and wasn't severely wounded, not physically. Her troubles could wait. "It was nothing. I'm okay," she said, displaying her well-practised smile. Sinead took hold of Maggie's hands and quickly shook her head when she said she was sorry. "What on Earth do you have to be sorry for? You haven't done anything wrong," she sweetly reassured her.

Sinead glanced down before looking between Aidan and Maggie. "Do you know what James has gone and done?" she asked, clutching at the only thing she could to bring something positive to their thoughts. "He went and got another puppy. Lady isn't impressed, but Samson really is an adorable little dog," she softly told them.

Sinead looked back to the ground. It made both her heart and mind hurt to put on a brave face. She had no idea how other members of her family could do this so well. Finn was in trouble, Shannon was injured, she'd been hurt by Steve... Not to mention the fact she'd told Angel about it, deep down knowing he would get revenge on the man. Sinead couldn't help but wonder if she was a bad person. Maybe she deserved to be surrounded by bad fortune. But the least she could do was support those she cared for.

Conor had to force himself not to show his devastation at seeing how empty and hollow Finn's response to him was. His cousin was normally so responsive and often more enthusiastic about things than Conor was. The difference couldn't have been clearer if it punched Conor in the face. Vinnie had a lot to answer for.

Once they were outside, James watched as Lucy hugged Alex. At first, he was shocked by the sudden friendliness she was showing the girl, but considering she'd stuck to her word and helped them get Finn, he decided he would have to reassess his own view on Alex. It appeared there was now one Romano who wasn't complete poison. After Lucy thanked the girl, James cleared his throat and made eye-contact with Alex. "Good luck with Vinne," he said, perhaps surprising to all present. "If it becomes too difficult to lie to him, just throw him my name - leave Conor and Lucy out of it," he offered. If Vinnie decided he wanted to blame any Sullivans, James would rather take any retaliation on their behalf.

Before helping James get Finn in the car, Conor looked Alex in the eyes and managed a faint smile for her. "I love you," he told her, his face reflecting the longing in his heart. He was relieved she understood what he'd done to save Finn and that he hadn't lost her. It was one less worry for his mind - he could focus completely on Finn now.

Once they had got Finn into the back of the car, Conor suggested Lucy ride in the back with him. She both seemed to be coping better than he felt he was and he was sure she would provide Finn with the right kind of comfort he needed right now. When they arrived home, James made a point of parking the car as close to the front door as he could, so Finn wouldn't need to walk much more before he was in the warmth of his home. James and Conor once again helped Finn, letting Lucy lead the way and open the front door...

Vinnie ended the call with his cousin and sat back in his seat as he mulled over the woman's impending return to Chicago. She'd arrive at the weekend and he figured that meant he needed to get all of the family together to welcome her. He'd hoped she'd have been happy enough to stay in Italy and never bother to return to Chicago to complicate things. Still, he was sure he could find a way to use the situation to his advantage.

Still, none of that managed to distract him from what was really weighing on his mind. It was far too late to take back what he'd allowed to happen to Finn and there was nothing he could do to help the young man. He figured the only thing he could do right now was let him go and have him returned to the Sullivans...

Alex (and possibly Nicolo) would find Vinnie in his office.

Athena sat on the bench, hearing the distant laughter of people nearby. She saw couple walking together, smiling and show off an exuberant aura. However, the girl was feeling the complete opposite of the happiness that they were showing. Tears down her face. The girl sniffled, feeling the immense regret of her choice she made in the past 30 minutes. The girl pulled her knees up to her chest, wishing she was by Leo's side right about now but it didn't look like she would ever get to do that again. The pain she was feeling was undescribable.

It was almost as if she was suffering from a broken heart. The girl had never uttered the three letter word to Leo before but the girl was indeed in love with Leo. It only made the heartbreak tougher seeing as Leo was her first love. Thus, this made how she dealt with the situation even harder. Seeming to reflect her mood at the current moment, rain started to trickle down from the sky. Athena didn't even bother to get out of the rain and head home. The girl didn't care about anything at all anymore, she felt the raindrops splatter onto her clothes and hair. She lifted her head, feeling defeated as ever. For once in her life, Athena questioned if the man she thought of as a second father to her was really right all the time. From the killing of the Sullivan's father which was caused by Angel to this tragic breakup, it was all too much for the girl.

She wiped her face, getting up from the bench and just let out a sigh.

Alex was shocked when Lucy hugged her but she hugged the girl back, a small smile present on her face. At least this meant that she had one less enemy to worry about now. When James cleared her throat, Alex turned her head to look at him, the smile still present on her lips "Thanks, I'll need it" she replied to him. Alex nodded when he said that she could use his name if she couldn't lie but Alex knew she wouldn't mention the Sullivan's. However she was worried how her father was going to react about her releasing his prisoner, she had a feeling it was not going to be an easy conversation. Alex looked at Conor and gave him a soft smile "I love you too" she said and watched as they got into the car. She stood watching until the car had left the lot before making her way back inside.

Alex walked back through the ball room and into the Lobby. She saw Nicolo sitting on a couch and approached him slowly. "Thank you, now I'll deal with Father and I'll keep you out of it once you keep my secret" she said to him, she could tell that Nicolo was in no state to deal with Father at this time and so she left to go to her father's office while Nicolo left to go to the bar again.

Alex swung open the door of her father's office without so much of a knock or warning. "What the hell is wrong with you? What did you do to Finn?" She questioned him, her voice raised slightly

Vinnie had been about to get up from his seat to leave his office when Alex stormed in. Instead, he sat back in his seat and interlinked his fingers, listening to her questions. "Come in, Alexandra. Sit down," he casually told her. He then sat forward and looked her in the eyes. "I didn't do anything to Finn," he told her. "I arranged for him to be brought here tonight, but I didn't do anything to him," he explained. "What do you want me to say to you?" he asked her. "What business is this of yours anyway?" Vinnie was growing tired of the girl's outbursts by now and her running away to her own place had done nothing to help.

Alex took a seat across from her father "you can't keep playing the my hands are clean card, it was done with your authorisation" she stated a little more calmly realising that shouting and yelling were not going to help her case so maybe speaking calmly would be helpful. "Nicolo is downstairs barely able to speak, he looks traumatised and that's nothing compared to what Finn looks like" she stated. "I'm not looking for an argument as I am sick of them and I have enough on my mind already, Im here to let you know that I let Finn out and sent him on his merry way back home, do with that what you want" Alex said. While she appeared calm on the outside, Alex was terrified on the inside about how her father would react

"Oh, I never said my hands were clean," Vinnie remarked. "Yes, I authorised it. The same way the Sullivans had Olivia stabbed, Leo beaten up and Athena threatened with a gun." He let out a deep sigh as she mentioned Nicolo was barely able to speak. "Well, I am sorry your brother is traumatised by it. He was given sufficient warning, but obviously he wasn't ready for that. I'll speak with him," Vinnie reasoned. When Alex said she'd let Finn out, Vinnie tightened his jaw and practically stared his daughter down. "Are you stupid, girl? You shouldn't have got involved in that. He was going to be returned to his family without your intervention," he told her. "How did you get him out? How did you even have him sent home?" he asked. He didn't care that Finn was home, that's where he was always going to end up. He cared that Alex was involved and potentially put herself in danger.

Vinnie didn't mention it, but he acknowledged Alex said Finn was deeply affected. He knew that much already and he would have to make peace with himself for that on his own.

Lucy and Finn Sullivan

Lucy raised an eyebrow James way, he had always been so dead set on hating the Romano's and now he was willing to take some of the heat off one. Lucy didn't miss the exchange between her brother and Alex hearing the words I love you being exchanged. It made Lucy's heart swell to know that he brother was in love, but the circumstances would only get more difficult for the couple as time goes on. Lucy hopped into the backseat of the car with Finn and the group took off from the hotel, leaving it and everything that had just happened behind them.

Finn was quiet, normally he would have been talking someone ear off by now about something but he didn't utter a word. Finn tried to keep a brave face whilst the group was getting into the car, but as soon as he was inside, he fell apart again. The sobs that racked from his body were alarming and Lucy immediately wrapped the man up in her arms to try and soothe him. He leaned against his cousin, pressing his face against her shirt and let out a cry that sounded strangled and heartbroken. Lucy stroked his hair and whispered to him the entire car ride home until the young man eventually fell asleep from exhaustion.

Once they arrived at the house, Lucy woke Finn up gently, causing him to jolt awake in a panic regardless and helped get him out of the car for the men to take him inside. Lucy opened the front door and almost immediately Lucy was barking and running down the hall to greet them. Lucy shushed the pup quickly and moved to the lounge where she would find everyone. "He's here." Lucy poked her head in to tell Sinead and the rest of the group. "Bring him into the lounge." Lucy called to her brother and James before the two men placed him down on the couch.

Finn looked disoriented and numb as he was sat down on the couch, he had a whole audience staring at him but he couldn't find the courage to meet anyone's eyes. The tears continue to flow heavily from his eyes as his shoulders shook, revealing to his family that all he was now was a walking corpse.

When he mentioned the Sullivans targeting Olivia, Athena and Leo, Alex bit her tounge so to not blurt out that they had no hand in that attack, she knew there was no way that she could justify knowing that nor would he even believe her.
She saw the anger flash across his eyes and all she wanted to do was run as far as possible from her father but instead she kept the look of being calm and composed. "Well, he's heavy so it was difficult getting him out of the hotel but I managed then I put him in a taxi" she stated casually as though she was explaining bringing a drunk friend home from a bar. But his words about how he was going to be sent home struck Alex "so thats what you do, you capture people and play them like toys before returning them home?" She asked him

By the time the others returned home, Sinead and Aidan had retreated into the lounge, but Maggie had already gone up to her room, too upset about the whole situation. When Lucy popped her head into the lounge and announced Finn was home, Sinead's eyes lit up. "You hear that, Aidan? He's home," she said, a bright smile on her face. She was so relieved Finn was back, having had a part of her worry he may have been killed. When her cousin was finally helped into the couch, he didn't look very alive at all. Sinead was for a moment in stunned silence, very saddened by what she was seeing. She looked to the ground for a moment and recalled the night her father had been killed. Finn did so much for her that night and though she still struggled with losing her father, she knew she would have never even got up from the floor that night if Finn hadn't been there to support her.

Sinead looked back to Finn, her eyes now wide open and determination etched on her face. She stood up and approached the sofa Finn was on. She hopped on in the empty spot beside him and gently wrapped her arms around him, placing a kiss on his cheek. She knew there was something inside her cousin's head, locking away the Finn they all knew and she expected her gesture would not be acknowledged, but that didn't deter her. "I won't give up on you," she softly told him and rested her head on his shoulder. A single tear rolled down Sinead's cheek, but overall she was taking this far better than even she expected. Seeing Finn look so vulnerable pulled out the strength she thought she'd lost months ago.

After helping Finn onto the couch, Conor took himself into the kitchen for a short time so he could compose himself. He was glad he'd been in the front seat as Finn couldn't see how much it had pained Conor to hear his cries. Alone in the kitchen, Conor paced the room, allowing himself to cry whilst nobody else was watching. He just needed to get this out of his system before he could be brave for his family. It was hard to stop once his sobs had begun, but Conor eventually snapped himself out of it and regained composure. After splashing his face with cold water and drying off, he returned into the lounge. He was glad to see Sinead was with Finn and not crying over him. It had been said many times before that she was more resilient than they gave her credit for. The wound and bruise on her face didn't go unnoticed. He glanced to Aidan and then to Lucy, before getting up and approaching his older sister. "Do you know what happened to Sinead?" he asked.

Once Finn was comfortably seated, James left the family together in the lounge and was about to head outside for air when David briefly entered the house, handing Samson to him. James simply nodded and decided he wasn't going outside after all. Instead, he perched himself at the bottom of the stairs and gave the newest puppy some attention. This had been a tough evening, even by James' standards. He'd been unable to get to Finn before the damage was done and that was another failure for James to mull over. He might not be a Sullivan, but he too felt like he'd spent his life fighting and surviving against the Romanos.

"Well, that's bullshit if I ever heard it. There's no way you got Finn up those basement stairs without help." When she made her comment about capturing people and playing with them, he shrugged his shoulders. "Apparently so, Alexandra. You can cut the damn attitude now though." He stood up, the difference in height now visible. "I admit it, this was too far. I should have just had him killed in the same way Olivia was left for dead. I got personal and decided to mess with their heads instead." Vinnie slammed his hand down on the desk. "I tried the path of peace and they broke that by attacking three people I care about. If you were in my position you would understand that messages have to be sent and weakness can't be shown. Those Sullivan bastards had to be reminded of what happens when they attack us and the ones we care about." He shook his head. "If you want an argument, we can have an argument. But the minute I let my guard down is the minute the Sullivans and those other shitty little gangs try to move in. You've had a life of privilege and protection. The minute I let those gangs move in, is the minute you kiss goodbye to all of that. They'll wipe out the lot of us."

Finn stared blankly ahead of him, the man that had once been was no more. He felt nothing but sadness, deep ,depressing, agonizing, sadness that tore him open from the inside and left him in a million pieces. His eyes stung as the tears continued to produce themselves and fall from his eyes. A noticeable sigh of relief came from Finn as Sinead came and comforted him, she might not have been able to tell but he was appreciative of everyones concern and the comfort he had received so far. His thoughts went back to his time in the basement of the hotel and another sob ripped through his chest, a strangle sound coming from him causing Lucy and a few other's to jump in surprise.

He buried face into Sinead's shoulder to keep from making any noise, but the harsh shaking of his shoulders proved that he was almost beyond repair. He sucked in deep breaths as he tried to control his emotions, but the sadness that was buried within him was from long ago. Lorenzo had popped open the cork to Finn's true emotions and nothing was there to stop them from spilling out now. He muttered into Sineads shoulder, calling out for his mother and father, desperately wanting there comfort to soothe his child like state.

Lucy silently watched Finn for a while, her eyes only breaking from him to see James walking out of the room. The state Finn was currently in was concerning her more and more by the second. They had rescued him, but it seems as though they were late...like Alex had said, the damage had been done. Conor had moved into the kitchen and the rest of the family was hovered by Finn in concern. Lucy watched Sinead closely and observed that she was taking this much better than most would have guessed, comforting Finn almost immediately. The man's sobs didn't cease though, getting increasingly louder, causing Lucy to jump in alarm. Lucy couldn't imagine what they did to him...how they made him this way. What human could possibly do this to another? Lucy couldn't give herself too much credit, she was also an indecent human being...having killed both for survival and perhaps a little bit of sport while she was away.

She wanted to make the Romano's pay...she wanted peace. And Lucy would make sure that they sign a peace treaty with the blood of the devil himself. Vinnie was going to pay. Lucy was snapped from her vicious thoughts when her brother questioned her about Sinead. Lucy had forgotten about her sisters accident this evening, while walking with Lady and James. Tearing her glance away from Finn, her blue eyes focused on Conor and she nodded her head firmly once,"Some punk that she had worked with cornered her and tried to have his way with her...Lady happened to catch onto Sinead's scent and steered James and I down a alleyway...that's when we found him and her together..." Lucy felt angry about Steve, she still was determined to do something about him. Sinead needed protection and that man needed to learn his lesson.

A small smirk formed on her face as she thought about giving into her new craving, Steve would make a wonderful human pin cushion...she would just need a place away from the house to hide him. "James gave him quite the beating...and I think he's got plans to get rid of him." Not if I get rid of Steve first...

Alexandra watched as her father stood up and listened to every word he said, she wasnt scared he'd hurt her, but she was slightly scared of him, and also angry. She had never seen him so angry before and if Alex was wise she would get up and leave, allowing him to calm down but Alex was never one to back down when she was antagonized. Alex was already on edge, worried about her soul, feeling alone and unsafe so someone shouting at her like her father was now, made all these emotions bubble back to the surface.
"You tried the path of Peace?" She asked him "no you didn't, you laughed in Emmett Sullivans face and then killed him for no bloody reason other than you disliked the man and he was apparently mocking you with his terms" she said, her voice was still calm but you could tell by her eyes she was emotionally distressed and that it wasnt about this. Alex was arguing back but she was doing this to focus on something other than what was going through her mind. "Before that you sliced James, attempted to drown Conor in beer and made Lucy watch, they didn't react, they didn't target any off us and yet that wasn't peaceful enough apparently so you kill their father". Alex shook her head "If I was in your position, we wouldnt be at war, the worst thing the Sullivans have ever done to us is kill mother which was a result of you trying to get Conor Sullivan pinned for murder, and for what a couple of shipments that he intercepted? I know the majority of what happens because while you kept me out of it, Monte and Nicolo are very open with me about what happens and why" she told him. She held her hands on her lap as they started to shake. "How do you even know the Sullivan's attacked Olivia, Athena and Leo? How do you know its not some other enemy you've pissed off in the past or someone on the inside trying to start back a war, the men have all been itching for fighting since the peace started". She almost laughed when he said she had a privilaged life but instead she kept her face neutral "I didn't have a life till I moved out of the house, and yet, I have to look over my shoulder constantly because of every shitty decision you've ever made and continue to make, I want to be out of the gang life and yet now Im being dragged back into it because I am your daughter". She shook her head sadly as she looked down "We used to be close, you used to be a family man and I remember a time when you only made necessary decisions and actions, but then you targeted Sinead Sullivan to give a message to her family about a bit of alcohol and I honestly believe that was the day I lost my father. When I look at you now I only see a psychotic stranger" she looked up at her father "you want to know the truth? I'm afraid of you and I'm afraid off what may happen to me someday because you allowed it"

When Finn let out a pained sob, Sinead placed her hand over his chest, ever so gently. It had made her jump, but she soon recovered and remained calm around her cousin. When he buried his face in her shoulder, she placed her hand on back of his head and softly stroked his hair. "You don't have to hold in your tears," she sweetly told him. She remembered screaming the building down when she realised her father had died. It had been the only way to stop herself from suffocating on her grief. When Finn began calling out for his parents, Sinead awkwardly bit her lip. He didn't have a mother or father, she remembered going to the funeral service. She still had her mother, but she also had everyone else under this roof. "We're all here for you, Finn. We all love you and you'll never have to be alone," she reassured him. She continued to stroke his hair and placed a kiss on his forehead.

Conor didn't think it was possible for his frown to drop further and his evening to get worse, but when Lucy told him what had happened to Sinead he was proved wrong. The thought of some guy harming Sinead in such a way made him feel quite sick. This time it wasn't even some Romano and for some reason it felt worse. Perhaps he'd grown so used to the devils he knew that having some random guy attacking his family threw him off course a little. "Thank God you all found her," he said, the relief clear in his voice. He wasn't sure Sinead would be comforting Finn the way she was if they hadn't. He suspected they'd have two broken relatives on the couch right now.

"I will be sure to thank James for beating the asshole," he assured her. "I'll gladly finish this Steve off if James doesn't do it," he added. He hadn't kill a man before, but he would make exception for this Steve guy. He was angry but no longer able to express it. This entire evening had been exhausting and Conor was just in some constant state of stunned shock. Two of the kindest and most innocent people he knew had been harmed tonight. Conor knew he needed to find a way to put a stop to his family's suffering.

Vinnie listened to his daughter's tirade. If it was something he appreciated, it was people not telling him what they thought he wanted to hear. Still, she was his daughter and being pretty disrespectful towards the man who had always done everything he could to protect her. He let her rant on, figuring she felt everything was justified and he knew some of it was too. His jaw tightened when she mentioned the torturing of James, Lucy and Conor. That was for Gianna and Alex should have known that by now - he would not apologise for that. That bitch Lucy had murdered her mother but Alex seemed willing to ignore that fact.

"If you were in my position, you be dead by now," he simply told her. He sat back down in his seat and met his daughter's eyes. "I inherited this business from my father. I inherited this war from my father and I had to bury the man because he was murdered by some Irish gangsters who were not unlike the Sullivans. Don't tell me you would be able to do anything different when you don't understand what it's like to take on this kind of responsibility. Someone will always be in this position. When I'm dead, someone else will be in this spot keeping this shit going. Conor Sullivan might have started out as some jolly drunken kid, but give him a few more years and that man will be unrecognisable, inheriting the misery his father passed down to him. He won't be able to escape this life just as I can't... When it comes to surviving this city, I will do everything I have to in order to live and to stay on top. Anything to protect my family from those who will force their way in the minute I stop asserting the Romanos' authority."

"Perhaps you're expecting me to do some soul searching now I've seen the evil inflicted upon that poor young man, Finn. But that search is a useless one. This is who I am now, Alexandra. I still did many bad things whilst Gianna was alive, but her death took away the last bit of what you would call my soul. All of it died with her." Vinnie sighed, by now the anger having left his tone. "I feel regret, though. I regret dragging Sinead into this and I regret that you've found your way back into it. You, Nicolo and Athena... you would all be better off far away from me. No matter how much I see the pain I cause, I can't stop it. This is the life I was handed and the only way to survive is to keep being the psychotic stranger you fear so much. I'm sorry, Alexandra, but I can't change. I can't stop this."

Alex listened as her father spoke, biting her tounge so she would not interrupt him. He had let her rant and she knew she needed to let him do the same. Alex was sick of all the fighting between her and her father. She remembered looking up to this man, yet now she didn't know who he was anymore. Since her mother had died nearly every conversation between her and her father ended in a full blown argument, as a result she had moved out and yet here she was still arguing with her father about the same things.
"You cant tell me I'd be dead when you don't know anything about me anymore" she stated "Ive done things that you'll probably never know about so you cannot tell me that I would not be able to handle it" Alex was not trying to antagonize him, she was mearly just giving evidence for her case. She shook her head slightly when he said he had been handed this life "everyone has a choice, everyone has a chance to choose between good and bad, you chose to war with the Sullivan's and to take on your father's life".
Alex sighed "I dont expect you to do some soul searching because I have believed for a long time that you dont have one, every time we argue I hope and pray that a bit of the man I know will show, even just for a second, but he never does and it's clear without you saying it that this monster is now your only persona". She looked up and made eye contact with her father searching his eyes for any reaction behind her next question. "You once told me that Family and business run hand in hand, I need to know which one do you put first, I will never tell Nicolo what you say and I will never bring it up again, but I need an honest answer. Would you put my wants and needs first or would you put your image, your beliefs and business first" she asked him gently.

Finn was comforted by Sinead, but only in the slightest because the tears continued to fall from his eyes and the sobs never ceased. He felt like he was burning up inside, all of his will to live was depleted and he was running on borrowed time. The way the blade had felt against his cool skin was something that he had never felt before, such satisfaction in knowing that he was about to end it all, the pain and the suffering. He wouldn't feel like a burden, the burden that he knew he was. Finn should have listened to everyone who had told him it was stupid to drop out of med school, he should have never taken the risk. Everything fell after he made that decision and now Maggie was having to sit here and look at him as he suffered.

"Take it all away." He whispered out and continued to let Sinead hold him. Wishing more than anything that he could see his parents in that moment, they would know how to handle him. Sinead was the next best thing, but it just wasn't the same.

Lucy nodded her head when Conor pointed out that it was a blessing that they had gotten their when they did. Lucy couldn't even imagine what would have happened to night if things hadn't gone the right way, if Lady never would have alerted the couple. Shivering at the thought, she sighed and looked closer at her brother. She could see the red rim around his eyes and wondered if he too had been crying. Lifting a hand, she caressed her brother's cheek lightly and offered him a small smile. "I am always here to talk baby brother, just because you are some big, tough gang boss now doesn't mean you can't come vent." With that being said, she felt there was things that she needs to vent about, but with everyone falling apart she knew she could wait.

Keeping the brave face painted on, she reached up on her tippy toes and kissed Conor on the cheek. "I'm gonna go find James...chances are he's with the newest little pup right now." Lucy could see the confusion on Conor's face and Lucy smiled brightly. "that's right, we have a new puppy! Samson!" As Lucy said this, she was walking away to find James. Walking towards the front door it was easy to find him as he was sitting on the stair case, with Samson just like Lucy had predicted. She moved and took a seat beside the man and sighed. "You alright?"
