Alice smiled behind the pacifier, and shook hands with Rose. She nodded confirmation at her name, and slurred, "Rossse...red likea rossse.... Red hair... I 'member your name, beder nexss time!"

Alice's smile never wavered in her mutterings, and her hand shake was surprisingly firm. She let her gaze travel to their linked hands, and giggled at the image of their contrasting skin tones mingling.

Rose nodded, her lips forming the beginnings of a small smile. Despite having been a tad jarred by Alice's muffled mutterings and unexplained laughter, she thought the girl seemed quite nice and looked forward to befriending her. Letting go of her housemate's hand, Rose scoured her mind for an adequate conversation starter, this was as always, a bit difficult, as charismatic speech had never been her strong suit,

"Uh, speaking of hair, your's is quite unique. How did you turn it such a bold color, if you don't mind my asking?"

@Ariettie

Alice let her had drop, as she shrugged, removing her pacifier. "Muggle hair dye..." She said. Alice had always dyed her hair like that, with muggle products, as magical means of coloration would never last. She had tried magic colouring before, only to have it change to an ugly grey colour.

"Guess who's back in Hogwarts?" A sea of green began to form as the two Malfoys walked in. It wasn't exactly a sea, it was more or less the crowd of Slytherins who were either too afraid of the Malfoy heir and heiress, people who just wanted their money, or some who genuinely cared for them. But that was exactly 1% of the population. Dressed in his school uniform, Scorpius was as dashing as ever, and with two Slytherin chicks by his side, he was practically the irresistible bad boy that your mother warned you to stay away from.

In front of him was the dark haired Malfoy, the mistress of macabre, Aria Malfoy. As the "crowd" reached the Slytherin's table, everyone seemed to hush as the young girl got onto the table, her cat by her side and her riding boots clanking with ever step she made. "So, seems like there's already been a fight, and school hasn't even begun!" The crowd booed lightly as the girl tossed her newly dyed hair, courtesy of a certain Gryffindor. "But is that gonna stop the Slytherins?" The Slytherin table murmured a no, but that wasn't enough. The girl repeated herself louder, "is that going to defeat the Slytherins?" The crowd cheered as the girl lifted up a goblet filled with pumpkin juice, or some sort of concoction. "We will show those Gryffies that this is our school now! And we will fight! And we will win, like we always do!" The girl got off the table as the crowd roared in excitement, Scorpius watching.

His sister had a way with crowds, and he did too, but he preferred to sit this one out. Taking a goblet, he jolted it into the air,
"to Slytherin!" The crowd followed and the Malfoy gulped the whole thing down.

Alice's attention was drawn to the Slytherin rally at the next table. She saw the new hairstyle the (scary) Malfoy heiress sported, and stifled a laugh as the magical colouring was beginning to fade. "That's why I use muggle dying methods..." She said to rose, pointing towards the pink waves of hair, that were beginning to turn an unpleasant grey, as most magically dyed hair did. Alice had learned that the hard way. "Rule of life #47:" she went on, "when changing hair color, muggle methods are far more reliable then magical ones..."

Alice made a mental note to send some muggle dye to Aria, so she wouldn't be stuck with dark grey hair for three months, waiting it out.

Even in the face of a common enemy, Rose and Harmony only got on long enough to finish, or in this case postpone, the fight and then it was right back to clawing at each other's throats and spitting venom in each other's faces. Quite honestly, James was tired of the constant bickering. All through the summer break he had had to endure the squabbling and the tattling and the punishments which would ruin his plans in turn because it would take away his prank buddy, Harmony. Now, with a whole castle and hundreds of other people to spend his time, James was going to waste no time listening to the petty arguments of his anger ridden family members. He waved Harmony's comments towards him off as if they were nothing but a meager pesky fly and followed far enough behind Harmony that he could make his own grand entrance. He was not a fan of sharing the spotlight. He stayed back in the shadows of the door way, watching the four house tables and the staff table as they began to fill up with the familiar faces of his school family or as he liked to refer to Hogwarts in his own conscious, his kingdom. He liked to believe that he all but ran this school on his own accord. Of course, his only rivals to this claim would be the Malfoys. And just as he finished watching Harmony's boisterous welcome to the Gryffindor table and the thought of the Malfoy twins came to his mind, the Slytherin table exploded with excitement and he moved his gaze over in their direction to find the female Malfoy standing on the table and rallying her fellow housemates. He rolled his eyes, an annoyed smirk coming to the surface of his lips. It seemed that everyone tried to out do each other. Which only meant that his entrance had to be ten times as excitement and rallying as Aria and Scorpius'.

But James didn't feel the need to play into their games. He'd been exceedingly popular from day one of his first year at Hogwarts. Perhaps it was because of his heritage or his striking good lucks and uncanny charm and charismatic personality, but people tended to flock towards James and he never went unnoticed in a room. So, with an arrogant confidence, James strode from the shadows and into the light of the enchanted ceiling of the Great Hall. Almost instantaneously heads were turning in his direction, mostly of the female variety, and he gave out smiles and welcomes and an occasional wink out to almost everyone he made eye contact with, making his way to his unofficial official seat next to the rest of his family and close friends, greeting everyone with a cheerful hello.

Harmony couldn't ignore the Slytherin's. If they wanted a fight, they'll get one. All they had to do was give the signal. She peeked her wand out, enough that it was pointing at Aria. "Locomotor Wibbly." She casted quietely. But instead of hitting Aria, a bump had hit Harmony's arm and instead, it was pointed at an unknowing Scorpius. Harmony actually didn't care. After all, she despised him as much as Aria. Harmony hid her wand before anyone could see it and calmed down, returning to her normal state.

Rose's eyes lit up as if they were filled with fireworks at the mention of muggles, as she was rather excessively fascinated with muggle culture. She absolutely adored their novels and stories, their curious technology, and if she was being quite honest their ever changing fashion trends. She opened her mouth to reply, absolutely enlivened to discuss non-magical civilizations, when several shouts erupted from the Slytherin table a few feet away. Inquisitive as to the nature of this sudden cheering, she swiveled in her seat to observe the verdant swarm of students. They seemed to be, to her disappointment, simply recounting the fight, nothing particularly peculiar. No longer in a state of fixated fascination, she listened to her companion comment on Aria's newly colored hair, which already seemed to be fading and nodding in response, she queried,

"Do you use any other muggle products? I simply adore studying their culture, my grandfather has told me ever so much about them!"

Alice smiled at Rose and said, " my mother's a squib... My grandfather's a muggle... I know some things..." Alice wasn't one to talk about her parentage, as it often got her bullied, but she wasn't ashamed by any means. She let her pacifier hang on her shirt by the spell that it was charmed with, and reached up to tighten her pigtails, showing off the blue puzzle piece on the back of her neck. "All of my tattoos were done by one of my muggle cousins... I prefer that to the magical way of marking ones skin..." She continued.

Rose nodded quickly with great enthusiasm, while she had heard that muggles had a unique method of tattooing images on people's bodies, she'd never delved into the topic too deeply while researching. Now, however, that this opportunity had arisen, she couldn't be more excited to learn about the process. Her focus now entirely on the Ravenclaw seated next to her, she inquired,

"Oh really? That is ever so interesting! How in the name of Merlin did they do it? I've only ever learned of staining skin by magic means."

Alice winced and said, "it's a long, and painful process... But the effects are much better then magical tattooing..." She turned to face Rose head on, and brought out her wand. She managed to cast a small cloud of golden sand in between them, and caused it to take the shape of a tattoo gun. "They use a machine, that looks like this, that has a needle on the end," she continued. "The needle has permanent ink put into a pocket of some kind on the needle, and then the needle perches through a few layers of skin, but never deep enough to draw blood, and it makes the color stay... I like that method better, because it takes true talent, a real artist's touch!"

Rose watched in awe, transfixed by the illusionary machine. Without shifting her gaze, she carefully reached her hand into her purse and after a few moments of rifling through loose pieces of parchment and smaller snacks, withdrew a quill and a notepad, Still scrutinizing the sand, she hurriedly sketched the syringe floating in midair, before jotting down quick short notes, such as

'Penetrates epidermis'

'Releases ink'

'Pouch carries ink'

'Ink is transferred from pouch to needle using some mechanism'

When she was satisfied that she had adequately recorded the information, she regarded Alice once again, and spoke quite quickly,

"Sorry about that! I just had to write a bit of that down, if you don't mind. I'm terribly sorry about the pain that accompanies the process. I do hope it was all worthwhile. Would you say it's worthwhile?"

Alice giggled childishly, amused by Rose's antics. She nodded her head, and said, "it's worth it!" She pointed to her favorite tattoo, the horse from a carousel, and added, "my cousin had one just like it put on by magical means, and it turned out hideous... The muggle way aloud for lasting, carefully made, art to be worn on the flesh..."

Rose eyed the tattoo curiously, it was a beautiful blend of pastel hues that formed the shape of a horse. It reminded her of a picture she'd found in a book of muggle amusement parks that she'd borrowed from her grandfather, though she couldn't quite place the name of the contraption. She believed it was called a barisell..? No, that wasn't correct, she supposed she'd read up on the machine at a later date. Voicing her thoughts, Rose commented,

"It's ever so pretty." Then, considering the latter half of Alice's statement, she
murmured, more to herself then to anyone else,

"Art to be worn on flesh...Hm.." A simply awful idea was forming in her mind, brash, bold, and distinctly un-Rose. She scribbled a final note on her pad,

'Muggle tools better than wizard's- where can I find the parts?"

@Ariettie

Alice nodded, and said, "this is my favorite one..." She pointed to the horse again. "It's made in the image of a carousel horse, from a circus I went to once..." Her enthusiasm was strong, as it was in all of her tattoos. They all had a meaning to her. Everything from remembering her deceased autistic baby brother (the puzzle piece), to turning some cruel words into something good (her crybaby tattoos).

Rose smiled luminously in response to this information, her eyes lit with combined jubilance and fascination. She had only been to the circus once, when she was quite young. She remembered the whimsical illusions that had danced twirled merrily across the tent, telling stories of old. She vividly recalled a decrepit, wizened, old wizard sparking fuchsia flames in midair without the aid of a wand or instrument of power. She could easily recollect a young witch, 'Too young' her mother had commented, frowning her disapproval, dancing on air without a broom to speak of. Now that she thought about it, in later years, Rose could remember the witch wearing a strange, revealing suit and so many layers of cosmetic charms that her true appearance was inscrutable. But, Rose could not call to mind a single mechanical horse. Her tone curious, she inquired,

"If you don't mind my asking, was this a muggle circus? I've never seen a horse at a wizard's one."

@Ariettie

Alice nodded, and said, "I'm not a big fan of the magic ones... They exploit people's abilities and flaws... Daddy says that half the muggle-Borns in the country, are cast aside by family, and then manipulated to work for the magic circus...."

Rose nodded an affirmation of these facts and couldn't help but wonder where that girl was now. It terribly sad when she really considered it, there were so many wizard circuses, as they were one of the most popular forms of entertainment of the day. And, that performer had looked younger than Rose was currently, too young. With slightly less enthusiasm than she had possessed previously, Rose added,

"I suppose your father is quite right on that account. But," Her expression turned to one of determination,

"Maybe there's something to be done about that. I don't believe that there are any resources for disowned muggleborns as of yet, but perhaps with the help of Hogwarts administration, some could be created.." She flipped to the next page in her notepad, jotting down ideas with great speed,

'MRC: Muggleborn Resource Centre'

'Sprout and Longbottom might help'

'Contact mum for help?'

'Maybe'

'Art? Logos? Who could do it?'

'Artsy Ravenclaw whats-her-name'

'Is her name Lady? Addie? Adele?'

'Approach whatever-her-name-is later'

'I could write proposition'

'How to word it'

'Can't seem offensive'

'Maybe Uncle Harry could handle celeb promotion'

@Ariettie

Alice nodded, and watched Rose write a at a rapid pace. She read the notes upside down, and smiled gently. "I could help with art..." She said, lifting up her skirt, to show off another tattoo on her leg: a plate of gingerbread cookies, and a glass of milk, so realistic, it was easy to forget they were just tattoos. "I did this one myself..."

Spinning in her seat, Rose turned to face her Ravenclaw companion. Her eyes widened slightly as they took in the lifelike image of the plate of gingerbread accompanied by a large glass of milk. The tattoo was impossibly, ridiculously realistic and the shading and color choices were impeccably accurate. This level of artistic prowess was befitting of prodigy at the very least, especially when one considered Alice's physical age. Rose, her mood much brighter than it had been just moments ago, felt her lips break into a small smile as she queried,

"Would you really?"

@Ariettie

Alice broke into a crooked toothed smile, and nodded. "Absolutely!" She said, her Amber eyes sparkling. "I think we've found a common cause."

Alice pulled her skirt back down, and sat up straight. She had always been a good artist, as were her cousins, and even attended art classes. Despite her presence on painting with her fingers, and using crayon often, she managed to create masterpieces, befitting someone much older then her.

Absolutely ecstatic that she'd have support in creating this grassroots movement, Rose's smile expanded into a wider grin. Her eyes brilliantly bright with enthusiasm and her voice now merry, she added,

"I do think we have." She had a writer, an artist, it wouldn't be difficult to gain celebrity
endorsement, with all of their combined war-hero connections, and now they simply needed a sympathetic ear and an adequate presenter. For the ladder role, someone with bold confidence would be necessary, but also the charisma to attract new members, and the passion for the cause to appear genuine. If only there was a student with this trio of characteristics, the team would be complete.

@Ariettie

(I see what you did there! @KeyKitten13)

Alice smiled and stated, "This might not be as hard as it seams... We just need the right people.... Daddy always says, 'it's not what you know, it's who you know.'"

She lay her robes across her lap, and reached for her bottomless bag in the pocket. She pulled out a sketch book and said, "we just need some promotion..."

As the boy felt himself go down due to the spell, he sent a deathly look to the castor, knowing exactly who it was. It was common sense, either the Potters, or the Weasleys. Now James obviously wasn't it, he wouldn't risk getting caught at the feast, casting spells and all. Rose was too shy and didn't have the guts, which left one person: Harmony. As Scorpius tumbled, the crowd burst out laughing, and Aria did her best to cover it up with improv. "Seems like you've already started drinking pumpkin juice, am I right dear brother?" Scorpius let out a fake laugh as his sister helped him onto a seat and the boy fell forward slightly, catching himself. Aria quickly muttered a spell to counteract the effects, just for a while, and Scorpius got up once more, the Slytherin crowd cheering. Raising his mug once more, he spoke, eyes directly on the Potter and Weasley bunch. "To Slytherin! The only house without cowards, or traitors, or squibs." The crowd went loud once more and Scorpius turned to Aria, finally speaking, "we'll get them back, alright? Our father raised us to destroy the ego of their kind." Aria nodded and finally responded, a small smile forming on her lips, "get Rose first, she's an easier target." Scorpius frowned,

"why do I get the easier of them?"

"Because I'm stronger." The boy pouted and Aria responded, "I'm just being honest."

Rose tapped a rhythmic tattoo on her notepad with her pen, her eyes scanning her previous notes,

"Yes, we most certainly will. Perhaps we could try the house boards-" Her voice was cut off by a
cacophonous clatter that echoed from the Slytherin Table. Scorpius Malfoy had collapsed onto the ground, his legs a tangle under the bench, about as useful as....jelly. Frowning slightly, she watched as Aria made a joke, did something with her wand, and he stood up, triumphant. Strange. The Jelly Legs Curse wasn't very easy to remove if she recalled correctly. Turning back towards Alice she continued,

"The House Boards could work. And, perhaps we could ask first period teachers to make an announcement?" She resumed writing, " Could you make the poster for the House Boards..? I could use a replicating charm to create multiples.."
