Also!!! I thought of a reason to why James acts the way he does. At home, he's overshadowed by Albus and Lily (but mostly Albus) and so he acts out for attention. And especially at school because people actually give him attention. Heck, Albus even overshadowed him in Quidditch. James became a chaser at the age of 12 and for the first time since Albus was born his parents attention and praise was on him but then that same year Albus became a seeker and it went back to Albus being the center of attention and affection.
