Fantasy The MPC Rushes Story, Cont.

No rush. I myself am bouncing back and forth between this, work, Chem homework, and answering/ assisting students with questions.

Pressing Pause on the Story for a bit, least until I can figure something out. If you would like to have character exchanges, dialog, please do, but I kindly ask that no one do anything just yet to try and advance or alter the events just posted. Thank you.

IS there any other kind? (excluding Good Omens' demon lords. Let's not talk about them)

That's what you get for having a life away from the computer screen (o'v'o)

I have one rule, just one: leave Genevieve's pants on until I'm able to defend her! :P I didn't realize I had to specify that includes dream!Genevieve as well!

Maybe that needs to be a blanket rule. Pants on. Always. Forever. Seal the pants to your body with magic. Find other means to bathroom.

As I just mentioned to Blott, there is likely going to be a massive chat started in the near future to include everyone in the party so that we can firmly establish some basic guidelines that seem to be lacking.

Okey doke.

Here, for viewing pleasure, the guidelines!

-No Hi-jacking anothers character and making them make MAJOR decisions and/or engage in activities that are blatantly against they're character. I think at this point we are are generally familiar with the types of personas everyone is portraying and if you are unsure, ASK. Communication is your friend.

-Maintain open communication with the DM and the other players, via the OCC tab and PMs. Try to check the OCC frequently and if there's an idea that you are kicking around, be sure to let the DM know, as well as any party member that it involves.

-No posting anything sexually explicit in the Story. Kinda of an obvious thing but this is not one of those types of RPs. Pants remain on! With that, don't write someone else's persona as engaging in any sort of sexual activities without their consent. This ties into the whole not hijacking another's persona without their consent. Just don't do it!

-As far as fights/battles/confrontations go, just try and be smart about it, ok? Yes, this is an RP, yes, everyone has an extraordinary persona with gifts or powers. DO NOT LET THAT GO TO YOUR HEAD!!! No one in the party is an all-powerful figure. If you think that you are, you need to go check your ego at the door because it doesn't make for fun for anyone when you have someone that can slash someone's soul from their body and bounce thru different timelines and Chuck Norris Beard punch everything into oblivion. Everyone has limits. Figure out yours, and let's have fun with this!

The only other thing I'm going to propose is trying to standardized the text format. If it's descriptive, thoughts, dreams, ect., use Italics. If it's Dialog, use "Quotations". So an example would look like:

-Stopping to tie his shoe, the young boy set his lunchbox down and knelled, muttering under his breath...

"Stupid shoes, I told mom I wanted the ones with the straps and the lights!"

Pretty basic. Since only the DM should really be handling multiple character voices/actions at a time, there shouldn't be much of a need for multiple fonts withing your text box. Just remember to space your stuff out, use proper grammar, and let everything flow.

I agree, with the suggestion that for text format, we follow the example set by common literature. Italics for dreams and thoughts, standard text for describing and actions, with words in quotations.

Example: 'I'm going fall!' thought the boy as his bike tumbled into the ravine. "Help!" He called out as he fell.

I'm fine with either, we can take a vote if it makes life easier.

I'm really sorry to be picky on this point, but I think only direct thoughts (as in talking to yourself) should be in italics, not large swaths of descriptive text. It's a standard print convention, and since we're all accustomed to reading stories presented that way in books, magazines, etc. I think it's the cleanest way to proceed. So, for example:

Genevieve sat at her kitchen table, wondering why she was still commenting about RP rules at 2 a.m. I need to go to bed, Genevieve thought. My friends keep me up far too late.

Just a heads up that I will be in and out tonight, as I have family obligations. I'll have my phone with me of course, and I ought to have more opportunity to slip away for a quick check than last night, but my response time will likely be slower than normal.
