Fantasy The MPC Rushes Story, Cont.

[QUOTE="Lisbeth Walpurgis]I need to catch up on Sherlock. I watched whatever was on Netflix... last year, I think? So, the first two seasons, maybe? Dr. Who I've never seen. The last and only time I've been to London was 15 years ago when I was an angsty, broody teen, so I would dearly like to go back now that I'm an adult and would probably enjoy it more.

Yes I am guessing you would! I am a bit of an Anglofile. If it is British I pretty much love it. I was in an area around Shoreditch which wasn't far from St.Pauls Cathedral and it is up and coming. A bit hipstersish but still awesome! Then I stayed over in SoHo at a place that Anthony Bourdain recommended called Hazlitt's. It is a awesome literary Hotel and mainly Author's stay there! It was pretty cool!

Ha that is true but only slightly as we are only getting a 1 off Christmas Special that really has nothing to do with anything. It might as well be fan fiction BUT I am looking forward to it. When I was there I saw Cumberbatch in Hamlet! It was an awesome production! Other great shows though..Check out Luther!
Hey, I'll take what I can get! I'm interested to see how they'll play the Christmas special in the original setting. I've heard it will be simulcast to theaters in the U.S., but I'm sort of in the middle of no where and our theaters don't always show niche things like that.

No way! I'm forever jealous you got to see Cumberbatch! Was it amazing?

If you saw nine episodes, you're up to date. The seasons are only three episodes each and we go more than a year between seasons. Curse you, BBC, and your weird series runs!

You should definitely watch Doctor Who. But don't start from the beginning--ask for recommendations on a jumping off point!

I think I only saw six episodes. Sherlock 'died' though obviously I know that it didn't stick!

My favorite place to stay is the Beaufort in Knightsbridge. It's quintessentially London: located in one of the classic white townhouses overlooking a small square; tiny rooms; labyrinthine hallways; lots of stairs you have to drag your suitcase up unless you want to brave the scary, claustrophobia-inducing elevator (complete with old-school gate door!)--all part of the charm! But from the top floors you have a fantastic view of Knightsbridge/South Kensington, you can look out into the back gardens of other flats to see how Londoners really live, and there's an excellent complementary tea every afternoon. Plus it's essentially right next door to Harrod's. :)

It was and honestly he WAS good but what struck me was that he was more my age and less someone older. He always comes across older on film for some reason…probably because he does so many period dramas. I studied acting and he was solid and much better than a lot of the others on stage but to be honest I have friends who are just as good if not better and more connected at Shakespearean works and on stage so it was strange to see him go in and out of it sometimes. I will say that the productions value on that play BLEW ME AWAY! JUST AMAZING! If you can go see it at the simulcast do it! It will still be worth it…I might actually plan on doing that just to see it again and see how it differs.

So, so jealous! He does always come across as older--to me there's something almost Edwardian about the way he conducts himself, and I think that's part of it.

I noticed you were from L.A.--wondered if you were into acting! ;)

I noticed that too! I also studied acting but sadly I haven't done much with it. I do a bit of voice over work when I can snag a project, but I haven't been on stage in a long time. Now I focus my creative energy mostly on writing and cosplay.

It's writing and dance for me, belly dance specifically. (And historical fiction is my genre! Ha!) But writing has taken a back seat lately since my dance troupe is working on producing a full-length theatrical show for next summer.

I honestly don't do much acting…I haven't in a while. I will on occasion have a friend who asks me to be in something but other than that I have been trying to get into V.O. as well as developing a few other projects including writing etc. I am originally from a small town in the South East thought! :P I have lived out here for like 10 or yikes… 15 years now?!

I'm a small town Southern Belle myself (though I ditched the accent years ago)!

Point of information on the story: have we reached our hideout destination? I wasn't clear. Sorry! Probably not enough sleep this week. :)

I wasn't clear on that either. Not sure if we were still on our way or if we had arrived.

I've lived outside Philly my whole life, but I hate going into the city so that's basically why I'm not part of the theatrical scene. All of my V.O. work I do at home since I have a decent mic. There's an amateur V.O. forum that I'm a part of, but sometimes people will post paying gigs: Voice Acting Alliance Forums

I really only have my Commercial V.O. Reel so far. I really want to do more Character work though as I want to do both cartoon, video game work.

If we implemented using dice rolls, I wouldn't mandate them for every single little thing. Like you all, i don't want to bog the experience down. Only in situations where the outcome could be drastically affected. I can ponder on this but in the mean time, we shall continue as regular.

You sound great! I only have Commercial and Narrative, though I'm loathe to share them because they are horribly outdated. No Character reel yet, but I'm hoping to put one together. Fake it 'til you make it!

Not thus far. I lived in Atlanta for several years, so we would sometimes go downtown during DragonCon to wander the hotel lobbies and watch the cosplay spectacle unfold. But they've locked it down to the point you can't even get into the hotels unless you have a pass now. Still want to go some day, though!

[QUOTE="Lisbeth Walpurgis]Any of you guys go to nerdy conventions?

Haha Yes I have gone but only to cover them as a journalist. I have stupid hobbies and one of them was running a Comic Book Web Site. I just recently walked away from the one I was with for 7 years but we did San Diego and a few others.

Atlanta!!!!!! I am originally from Georgia!!! :P

So I got curious and looked at the MPC forums. Without a story thread injected into the main section it feels kinda…..lame. Like it is just hitting a brick wall. People walk into a room introduce themselves , but not really, really they start a story and then never finish it because they are gathering in a room for no purpose and it feels like we brought purpose to that room!

No way! I'm from Alabama originally and live there now. But I did my undergrad degree at Berry College, lived in Rome for a few years after graduation and lived in Atlanta (Decatur) for three years after that.

Haha I have a few friends who went to Berry! I lived in Athens for a short time before I moved out here. My actual home town is Warner Robins…that is near Macon :)
