The Lost Mutants

"Italian, hmm? Well... Can't say I've tried it, but maybe at one time or another I have." He smiled. Then he winked at her and took her hand. "Lead the way, girlie." He looked at her fondly, glad to have someone that would be a good influence on him. So much different from the people he had grown up around.

Piper grinned at Angel and said, "You know, we could certainly get there faster if we flew..." She flashed Angel one of her flirty smiles as her eyes sparkled in the sunlight. She'd loved flying with Angel earlier. Plus, she wasn't sure if she was capable of teleporting people with her. She'd never attempted that before so it made her nervous.

Jake grinned. "Well, sure! Think it's pretty easy to find from the sky?" He wrapped an arm around her waist and pushed hard off of the ground. He felt a little uneven, so he wrapped his other arm around her waist, but he flipped her around so she could look a at the city below. He looked over her shoulder. "See it yet?" He flew gracefully, his wings filling the air around them with the sounds of rushing wind.

Piper grinned as she moved her hands on top of Angel's, her joy filling the air as well. She looked around the city below them and soon spotted it. Pointing towards it, she then glanced sideways at Angel and said with a smile, "It's down there...Angel."

He smiled and found where she was pointing. "Hang on, girlie." He started circling around the area. Then he spiraled down, going in smaller and smaller circles the lower he got. He started whooping and hollering, enjoying himself beyond anything he had ever dreamed. He landed on the rooftop, and then swooped down to the ground. "Let's get going, then!" He laughed as he walked to the entrance to the restaurant.

Piper grinned, finding Angel's excitement to be addictive. She took the lead to the entrance and gave Angel a quick kiss on the cheek as she walked past him, saying, "Thanks for the lift, Angel." She winked and then entered the restaraunt, the owner sighting her almost immediately. He threw his arms in the air and exclaimed, "Piper, my girl! I haven't seen you in days. You almost had me worried!" The owner was a middle-aged man, his hair beginning to gray slightly. He had a warm smile as he dragged Piper into a suffocating hug. When he finally released her, Piper gasped for air before grinning and saying, "I see your greeting hasn't changed one bit, Robert."

Jake gingerly touched his check where she kissed him. He walked in a moment later to find the owner enveloping Piper in a hug that even looked painful. He watched curiously, wondering how she would handle the situation. "Hello there." He said with a polite smile, letting Piper know in a round about way that he was there.

Piper sheepishly grinned at Robert before hearing Angel. She immediately took a step back and gestured to Angel, saying, "Robert, meet Jake. Jake, meet Robert. Jake here is like me, in a sense. We ran into each other earlier." She smiled after saying this and Robert held his hand out towards Jake with a warm smile. He then said, "Nice to meet ya, kid. Hope you're being good to Piper here. She's like my rebellious daughter I never had." Piper coughed at this and then grinned.

Jake shook Robert's hand. He grinned mischievously at Piper out of the corner of his eye. "Yes, sir. She's a really nice girl, and I wouldn't dare be mean to her. To be honest, sir, she has me wrapped around her little finger." Jake chuckled. "I heard you have the best restaurant around. Can't wait to try your food!" Jake said, full of enthusiasm.

Piper giggled at what Jake said, especially about her having him wrapped around her little finger. She certainly believed that. Robert smiled when he heard what Jake said about his restaurant and said, "Ah, well, it's not much here. I wouldn't really trust Piper's taste buds either." He took a step closer to Jake and glanced sideways at Piper before whispering, "She dumpster dives rather often as it is." Piper heard this still and said, "Hey! I don't always have the money to buy food, pal." Robert chuckled at this and turned to Piper before holding his arms out and saying, "I always tell you that I'm wide open to serving you, with or without money." Piper stuck out her bottom lip stubbornly before crossing her arms over her chest and saying, "You don't make the best income here. I'd be making it harder on you if I didn't pay for my food." Robert shrugged and said, "All right missy. Well, I can only assume you now have money since you're here with your...boyfriend." He grinned after saying the last part while Piper's face flushed red and she sputtered, "W-Wait a second! We're just friends, Robert." She then glared at him after saying this.

Jake looked at Piper curiously when Robert mentioned that she dumpster dived...

When Robert called him Piper's boyfriend, he nearly laughed, but bit his tongue when she started having vocal malfunctions. Jake smiled from ear to ear at Robert. "She's not my girlfriend, sir. Not yet, at least." He added, mischief dancing in his voice and an equally mischievous side glance at Piper.

Piper blanched at Jake's response and quickly regained her composure before saying, "Woah there, pretty boy. Slow down, will ya?" She then gave Robert a knowing glare as he chuckled and raised his hands up in a calming manner. Grinning at the two, Robert put his hands back down and said, "Anyhow, I know just the meal for you two. Just give me a few to make it for you two...lovebirds." Dodging a punch thrown by Piper, Robert jogged back to the kitchen laughing. Piper nearly face palmed, as her face was burning and she really just wanted to be anywhere but here at this moment.

Jake grinned hugely, watching Piper's reactions. "Thank you, sir!" Jake called after Robert. He turned to Piper. "Where do you usually sit, sweetie?" He smiled at her, hoping she caught his joke of changing her nickname. He looked around at the sea of tables. There was no way he could make the decision of where to sit. He wasn't good at making decisions where there were so many options.

Piper glared at Jake, though she knew she wouldn't be able to stay angry with him for long. He was just too cute and kind. Blinking at her thoughts, Piper then said, "Not here. Follow me, Angel." She then led the way as she walked straight to some stairs past the kitchen. She paused at the base of the stairs to make sure that Jake was following her.

Jake raised an eyebrow in question, but followed her, she did know what she was doing.... "Need help up those stairs?" He joked when she stopped and looked at him at the bottom of the stairs. He stopped right behind her and he peeked over her shoulder, looking up.

Rolling her eyes at Jake, Piper grinned and said, "Nah, I just have a faster way up them." She then put her hand on Jake's shoulder and looked up the stairs before seconds later, they appeared at the top. Piper let go of Jake's shoulder before catching her breath, as she'd never teleported with someone before and it had surprised her that it had worked without a cinch.

Jake looked at her hands on his shoulders briefly before she teleported. Immediately, he hands went out as if regaining his balance. His eyes grew huge and his face went deep red. His whole body was trembling the entire time. "Wha- what in the world?! Whoa! Just- give me a heads up first, okay?! Wow!" Jake said nervously, and not at alol angry or condescending. He was really a truely taken aback and it took him a few more seconds to pull himself together before he could look around. "Okay. Um.. I think I'm good now. Uh. Where to?"

Piper couldn't help but laugh at Jake's reaction. Once he'd recovered, she grinned and said, "We should definitely do that more often." She winked and then turned away from him as she began leading the way again, heading straight for a glass door that seemed to be leading to a small porch outside. She opened the door and then turned back to Jake, her head cocked slightly as she asked him with a slight smile, "You coming or what, Angel?"

Jake followed Piper to the glass. "Yeah, yeah. Of course I'm following you, girlie. It's my new life goal... Or... Something like that..." He peeked out the door and out at the porch. "Well this is gonna be romantic." He joked.

Piper raised an eyebrow and smirked at Jake before rolling her eyes. She left the porch door propped open by a potted plant and then walked over to the small table for two before sitting down. She glanced to the side, as they had a decent view of the street below and this little bit of the city. Looking back at Jake, Piper grinned and said, "It's simple, but I like it," in referance to the simple settings of the restaraunt as it wasn't extravagant or anything.

Jake followed Piper over to the table. "Yeah. It sure is nice." His fingers brushed the table as he walked to the side of it so he could see the view. "The city looks way better from the sky view, but this is really nice for an on-the-ground look." He sat down in the chair. "So what do you do, then? Go around and stop bad people from committing crimes?" Jake paused, realizing that the occupation he was describing sounded an awful lot like a cop... And cops were bad... He tried to go through the past hours that he had spent with her, trying to see if there was anything suspicious. He couldn't think of anything that should cause alarm.

Piper sat down and upon hearing Jake's assumption, laughed out loud. After her laughter died down, Piper looked at Jake with a sparkle in her eyes and a grin, "I'm most certainly not a cop." Looking away from him and down at her fingers as she messed around with them, Piper said softly, "No, I'm not a person of such honor. I'm a thief, if there were ever a word to describe me. Robert is kind to me, but I live on the streets and fend for myself for the most part. I'm kind when I can be, but it's not easy in my current position." Looking back up at Jake, Piper added with a sad smile, "Plus, most people fear me when I show them my power. It's hard to make friends when you show people what you can do and they either run away in fear or try to use you."

Jake was relieved when she confirmed she wasn't a cop. "Good thing you aren't a cop." He traced patterns on the table with his finger as she spoke about people being freaked out about her abilities. He nodded agreement. "It's ridiculous how freaked out they get... We aren't that unusual. Why is it so unbelievable for them? I wish we could ask..." Jake revisited all the times that he had had to deal with people like that in his memories. "It's nice meeting someone who's not only nice to me, but is also like me... It's too good to be true, really. I'm really glad I met you, Piper."

Piper brightened up after hearing what Jake said and replied with a warm smile, "I feel the same way, Angel." Just then, Robert came out, holding two plates full of spaghettie and meatballs. He placed them both down in front of Jake and Piper before asking them, "So, what do you two want to drink?" Piper opened her mouth to reply and Robert raised his hand to stop her as he said, "Let me guess...you want water, right?" Piper smirked at Robert, but nodded.

Jake looked up when Robert came in. "Thanks." He said when Robert set down the plates. Jake looked quizzically at the interaction between Robert and Piper about drinks. "Do you not like juice or soft drinks?" He asked Piper. "I am paying, you know. I don't mind either way, but if you want something as well as water, you might as well."
