Fantasy The Legend of the Legendary Mages OOC

Thanks! I think this song suits my character more, and the show it's from is about bunch of college kids fighting evil (how appropriate :)). I'll be updating those little things as time goes on.

Sounds good, I'll keep looking back. Hope everything is okay with Hachi Machi. You're right about the song, from just watching the video. That's awesome!

I haven't RP'd in years, so I may be rusty restarting but you're welcome to PM me suggestions or criticisms if you think it might help.

Heck, man. I'm new at RPing, so I not really the best for giving out suggestions. But I do love creating creating characters and developing a world around them, which is why I got into this.

Heh. Alright.

Man, this story is pretty exciting though. I'm revved up.

Honestly from the time you informed me of the GM's absence, the continuation of this RP was highly suspect.
Thought it really amazes me, that something with boundless potential and effort poured into it could come off as easily disposable as this is. I mean, we don't know what they're going through, heck this is just mindful banter.

Question to you storytellers on how long lasting would you rate your patience from 1-5

No, not like this...This RP was too promising to just die like this...We must stop it.

Here's how: I am willing to take over some GM duties along with another person until Hachi Machi Hachi Machi comes back. That way all our hard work isn't wasted. (I might even take over full time since it is highly suspect the GM will ever come back, I haven't finished my CS anyways, so my effort is probably better used to continue this)

What do you guys think? If we can get at least 4 people(and a Co-GM) to support this, we can continue.

Mines most likely a 3, since I'm reserving a small space for this roleplay in case it ever starts up.

Ah, but I really love Hachi Machi Hachi Machi 's attention to detail, and the beautiful lore in the encyclopedia. That's what really got me hooked, though the inital idea was rather interesting as well. It wouldn't feel right to me, if it wasn't the same person GMing, since I was really looking forward to all of their responses regarding my characters' actions. I also don't find CS's hard to make, though I am a little disappointed both my characters are going to die just after their debut, so it isn't that big of a deal for me in regards to effort or 'hard work'.

I think I'd rather just wait. Though if you gather enough support, apart from me, I guess I'd be willing to continue.

I'd wait, personally, considering how I've got the start of my GCSE year in like a day (kill me lmao I've done no work) so I won't be joining any more for some time now, if I'll even have time for this :v I'm probably in the same boat as MiraAutumn MiraAutumn tho, so keep me posted :bishiesparklesl:

Alright, well I guess the initial response is not too promising. Your post also reminded me that I should also focus on my studies as this is my final high school year and I'm taking a heavy course load with IB and all. I would like to rescind my previous offer to continue this RP and drop out of this entirely. Best of luck to you all.

I started the first day of the second year of my GCSE-course today, so I know what you're going through. I literally have mocks again in a few months, despite having mocks just before the summer holidays(I even had to complete a whole drawing project for art as holiday homework ;-; ). Da stress tho.

Oommgg babe yes art coursework??? I had basically my whole project to do over the holidays because I did nothing all last term and I've done like two more pages haha. so much s t r e s s s s
Eee same with the mocks.. I didn't revise for the summer exams before the hols and got dodgy results so my tutor's probably waiting for me with a sniper rifle or something :p So what subjects are you doing tho?

Sorry to see you go, but good luck with all your studies too!

I'm taking art and computer science from column A, history from the humanities options and french from column B(you literally had to pick a language, or do something like health and social care or directed studies, etc.)

You did nothing last term? Wha? How? This fricken art course requires way too much work, if you do nothing for one of your double lessons, you have a double page spread to complete for next week. Dude, I don't understand, how are you going to LIVE?

My mock results... weren't good...My excuse is that I'm still adjusting to this whole 'revision' thing. I've basically never revised at home(we do have those revision lessons though), even for my SATs, before things actually got serious with mocks and my GCSE exams looming ever closer. I dunno why, I just never could be bothered, since I was a bit of a natural with academics, and was like 'as long as I pass, I'm cool.'

I'm Canadian so the term "GCSE" is totally foreign to me, I was curious so I looked it up, but Wikipedia is not too clear on the subject. From what I gleaned it seems like it is a certificate for individual subjects that is given upon completion of a set number of requirements. It says that is is completed during secondary education, which to me, means university/college. I'm assuming that is not the case since you mentioned you were also doing SATs at that time? Are GCSEs mandatory for all students in the UK? Or is it an advanced level of study similar to programs such as IB and AP.

SATS = Primary education(Primary school) final exam qualification thingies I guess. Doesn't really matter in the long run.

GCSE = Secondary education(Secondary school) final exam qualification thingies. Decides what colleges you can attend depending on your results. The system is being changed from letter grades(A, B, C, D), to number grades(9, 8, 7 ,6), which fricken sucks, since my year group is the first to take these new exams(except for english and maths, which were taken the previous year). Therefore we have no previous exam papers. I'm fricken screwed. It is compulsory education.

I'm doing art, history and Germannn... Haha it was a bit of hyperbole there, 'cause I've mostly completed my first artist study and I'm just onto my second, which is still preeetty far behind. I'm doing the OCR board, so I'm not sure if we've got the same coursework requirements? Also, I have no idea. But it's chill ((((:
Gosh what. I feel you with the whole never revising thing because I could just get through the exams at around the class average, so I'm dead for GCSEs now lmao

Basically what MiraAutumn MiraAutumn said... I don't think there's a Canadian equivalent, but it's an exam in every school subject that you start studying for in year 10, with a mock exam to get an idea of what you'll get before the actual test at the end of year 11. Because they've just changed to the number system, though, I've heard they're going to be more lenient with our year's results because for some subjects we have just the one example paper that they've set to study off of, which is still actually the worst :v

...I'm also doing the OCR board(cambridge-located board)...? This is quite a coincidence, could you give me a general location of where your school is?
Just slightly wondering whether we attend the same school, or you attend a school I know etc. Of course the chances of that are very unlikely.

Artist studies? We don't have those as projects. We have the ??? project, printmaking project, painting project, drawing project(done as summer holiday h/w). These are ordered by when we did them. Need to prepare for final pieces now ;-;
I used to be at the top of my classes. All except PE. 'Used to' is the key phrase in that statement.

We have multiple mock exams. We take all the subjects at around the same time, except the sciences for some AQA stuff. Except my computer science teacher, who doesn't know what programming is, failed to order the mock papers. Therefore we had to take the mock at a much later date than planned.

Damnamam.. I don't think we do, just by the way you've described how your subjects work - we don't have 'columns' for choosing subjects or the option to do things like social studies instead of a language, and so on. Either way, my school's roughly around Bath area, so..
Yeahh we do our coursework by studying three artists, making copies and then doing our own versions in their style and so on before the resolution piece instead of by medium, although we did some odd printmaking before we started for some reason. Ended up as a waste of time tho smh
Saame. I feel like I peaked in year 7 :p

Ah ok, by SAT I thought you were referring it to the Scholastic Aptitude Test, used for US college applications. So your secondary school would be equivalent to our middle and high schools. I feel your pain, in Canada, most of the provinces (and territories) do not administer provincial-wide standardized finals, which my province Alberta has. They are given out in Grades 3, 6, and 9(UK System - Year 4, Year 7, and Year 10), where they are known as Provincial Achievement Tests (PAT), and are similar to your SATS in that they do not account for anything the long run (mostly as a reflection of what you have learned up to that date). Then when we reach the final year of "secondary school" or complete the subject that was intended to be learned that year (denoted by subject name then the number 30), we have to write a final exam for each subject known as the "diplomas", which accounts for 30% (used to be 50%) of the mark you use to apply to universities. (The other 70% consists of your class mark) These diplomas vary from subject from subject, but it is usually one multiple choice exam for mathematics and the sciences, and a m/c exam along with a written portion for the humanities. So I think in Alberta it is similar except that the time given to study is substantially less(about 5 months). (Not that I would use it anyways, I'm a big procrastinator lol) However, on top of that I have my IB exams, which are university level and are completely separate to the regular diplomas, although the information covered has some overlap. For EACH subject there are about 3 exams(called papers) which are different for each subject, but are written over a period of two days. In addition, you are also expected to complete an IA (Internal Assessment) for each subject, which for the sciences are an independent lab report that is about 20 pages, an investigative report in math, and a 2,000 word essay for social. Along with multiple practice exams and essays along the way. (Not sure about the others since I did not elect to complete the full IB program since they also have to complete a 4,000 word Extended Essay and 140 hours of mandatory activities outside of school known as CAS) So I really need to buckle down and work hard this year.

Regarding your revised exams, even though the grading system is changed, the content should be similar right? In my experience, past exams were not useful beyond testing the extent of your knowledge since they never repeat questions and usually change topics tested from year to year. Also as Plutoni Plutoni mentioned, they should be lenient when marking the first year after revisions to the exam. I am also wondering if you would receive standardization in order to ensure your results are comparable to results from past exams. I know that for both our provincial diplomas and IB exams, the results are examined and are then boosted or lower based on how everyone did. For provincial diplomas, they have certain "benchmark" questions that are similar from exam to exam and then they can judge how hard this year's exam was compared to others and then accordingly adjust your grade. For IB exams they look at the general performance of everyone writing the exam and then adjust it using some unknown mechanic.

Sorry for the long post, I just kept writing in response to your posts and didn't bother to continue in another post. xD

I'm surprised that you are able to choose to pursue art to such an extent, does everyone choose something creative to focus on or is art optional? Here in Alberta, only the "cores" of math, science and the humanities (social and english) require a final exam, while everything else such as Art, Mechanics, Sports Medicine are considered Options and do not contain exams. The only comparable I have is Art IB, but it is very rigorous and the students that elect to take it are not allowed to take any other IB courses due to the heavy requirements of it. It is designed for students who are planning to pursue a career in art, and is taught that way.

No problem, I found it a bit difficult to follow, due to my current lack of sleep, but it was interesting learning about another's country's educations system ^^
I'm pretty used to having to refer to the american education system wiki page, due to roleplays frequently using american terminology.

The problem is that teachers cannot grade us accurately, they can only give a vague estimate of our predicted/estimated grade. It's pretty disappointing when you get your results back from your end of topic test, only to be given a mark. I do not know whether I am comfortably above average, or teetering on the edge.

Math, science and english are mandatory. It is also mandatory to pursue one of the humanities. Then you may take 3 other options to pursue, which can literally be any of the subjects you've studied in previous years, or one of the new additions(catering, dance, music, art, ICT, computer science, languages, another humanities, Graphic design, buisness studies, PE etc).

I must be off now, good night.

Good night. I can clarify some things tomorrow if you are still confused. So your mark is entirely dependant on your results on the GCSE? That seems highly suspect, your whole future is determined by one performance, while your performance during the school year is ignored. I can see this encouraging people to slack off/skip during the school year and then just self study around the time of exams to get a really good mark.

That's not far off, really, but we do have A levels in the sixth form that's usually the final say on what university you can get into, although apparently with the changes that have also been going on those, universities are putting more of a focus upon GCSE results as to who they give out their offers to. Which is no pressure.
Personally, it does benefit me to an extent because I rarely pay much attention in class, but it does also means that if you screw up in the exam you're kinda stuck with it :v What do you actually have to do for your class mark, though?

I like how you guys are talking about school and here I am, depressed because can't take Calculus BC next year. I also should take 3 AP classes next year, which is... 3 MORE THAN I HAVE NOW. :)
