Feel free to post any questions here. You're free to discuss anything, but the primary purpose of OOC is to effectively communicate about the roleplay. RPN rules apply here, so please be mindful and respectful of others.

Oh, and don't forget to announce your desire to become a Legendary Mage to everyone! Who's hyped for this roleplay?!

Hello there.
I must regretfully inform you that I have no intention to become a legendary mage. Being a legend is troublesome. People know you everywhere you go, expect you to be a miracle worker, tend to know many of your signature moves... The issues don't end. Therefore, I shall aim to be as mediocre as mediocre can be. Nobody expects death by mediocrity.

But, like, seriously, I'm hype. Very hype. Doing a little dance of hype right now, actually.

Legendary mage? Ha, don't be a fool. One does not become one so easily. It's much more smarter to aim lower and use that goal as a stepping stone to become a legend. As for me? I'm fine with being a "Teacher" of the legendary mages.

I fell asleep…

Hachi Machi Hachi Machi Would you mind working with me to build a foreign country? I was thinking of having my character(s) be guest noble(s) (perhaps even royalty, depending on the country) from a city-state in the north.

Sure, feel free to PM any ideas/concepts related to the foreign country, or list them here. Regarding characters, I can find a way for guest nobles to work, depending on the specifics of your characters. For example is the guest noble on the run, hiding in the Legant Empire's Military Academy, or anything similar? It just depends. I'll always allow suggestions, and hopefully we can compromise on something.

Hachi Machi Hachi Machi Ima join this just cos you're the gm. xD

Oh, and I'll post for that other rp soon. :3

Thanks! You're always welcomed into any of my RPs, but don't stress yourself out. I can't wait to read your RP post for the other one!

im sleeepy

Same. I want to fall asleep too, but I still got 4 more hours left of college classes.

Hachi Machi Hachi Machi Say, have you checked out the character codex? Or are you going to wait till there's more applications?

Just kinda worried because reviewing loads of character sheets all at once can be a little stressful, and I don't want you to get into that predicament :-_-lines:

(I moved our conversation since it's slightly more relevant here :P)

I plan to review the character sheets whenever I've free time to do so. I can review them now, but I may change my mind on some part of the character sheet, depending how others create their characters. I have read your character, and I think their concept should be fine. I'll read her in detail later on this week.

Hachi Machi Hachi Machi How 'capable' in terms of magic are teachers/students/knights etc generally? How much magic knowledge is considered strong? I don't want to accidentally make an OP character, or a character that's better off as a student in terms of magic ability.

Capabilities depend on a person's studies, other factors, and innate talent. I'd say knights are the most capable for combat since they'll likely have the most military experience. For teachers, they may know more about the practical and theoretical uses of magic, meaning their magic knowledge is greater than most. Students will generally have the weakest capability but they may have the strongest growth and talent depending on the students motivation. For example, students may have a higher potency or magic energy but they lack knowledge to efficiently use it in comparison to the other roles.

I'm still writing up magic knowledge level stuff but here's a little concept I'm trying to go for. Inexperienced, Basic, intermediate, advanced, and legendary magic knowledge. Inexperienced means you don't know how to cast spells for that spell type. Basic means you can cast spells from that spell type but they're weak. Intermediate means you understand the mechanics of the spell type meaning you can add at least one additional effect to your spells. Advanced means you fully understand the spell type allowing you to cast incredible spells with multiple effects. Advanced comprehension also allows one to create new spells for that spell type. Legendary means you discovered a new mechanic to the spell type, or you know everything about the spell type in correlation to other spell types.

Thank you for the detailed response, looking forward to reading the completed article in the encyclopedia ^^

You're welcome. I plan to flesh it out a bit more. I won't make it too complex, since I'll generally use the scenario to determine a characters capabilities in a situation as well as my own judgement.

Heya Hachi Machi Hachi Machi , I've been stalking this for a little while and I gotta say, the amount of detail and effort you've put into this is amazing c: I've got some questions too!
Firstly, you mentioned geometric magic being intricately drawn... What would the feasibility of these arrays being tattoos be? Hehe. Secondly, how are teaching roles split? Is there a teacher per each type of (non-taboo, of course..) magic, or is it more flexible with several teachers per each section n' stuff? Also, would a teacher who specialised in healing perhaps double as a school medic, or is that a separate job?

Q10: Geometric magic - taking an ingenious idea from FMA, is it possible for a mage to pre-inscribe arrays into things like clothes or tools and reuse said array since it's permanently engraved?

A10: Yes, it is possible to do that, but your character will be limited in the spells they can cast, since each spell requires their own unique array.

They can certainly work, but you'll be limited to that spell type. I guess if you want to speed up the process, you can tattoo a simple geometric circle, and then chant the missing details to perform a wide variety of spells related to the base of the geometric circle. It's more feasible to use charms, or chant the array, since there's only so much space one can tattoo, or inscribe on their attire. Don't get me wrong it isn't a bad idea, it's just charms are better in every way, besides versatility.

Classes are separated into several categories. They may focus on a magic type, or go into something like charms, incantations, geometric circles, P.E, etc. Teachers are able to teach multiple classes if their credentials allows for it. I'm coming up with a list of suitable classes, but classes aren't really the focus of the RP. It's more so the developments a character makes while in the military academy. A teacher who specializes in healing can definitely be a school medic too, during the time they aren't doing research or teaching.

Hopefully, I answered your questions. Thanks for your interest.

Iiinteresting. Thank you for the reply (: For healing magic, does the nature of your array have to be completely and utterly specific to what you're doing? For example, if you have a broken femur, would you have to make an array for specifically a broken femur (if that's even possible), or would an array for healing broken bones suffice, perhaps as long as the magic is applied in that area? Also, where is the boundary between healing and mutation? Or basically just any other details you might have on healing magic and how it's supposed to work, really, if you don't mind me bothering you c:
Just a lil' side question, what exactly are charms/what can they be? Also sorry if you've already answered any of these! I'm not familiar with FMA (or actually any of the other inspirations you listed o: ), so if the mechanics here are similar to those I can go and look over some of that instead.

Q1: For healing magic, does the nature of your array have to be completely and utterly specific to what you're doing?

A1: Yes, however, this depends. For mending a broken bone, there's a specific array. If you want to mend a specific bone, you don't need a new array, you just need to place your array near the broken bone.

Q2: For example, if you have a broken femur, would you have to make an array for specifically a broken femur (if that's even possible), or would an array for healing broken bones suffice, perhaps as long as the magic is applied in that area?

A2: An array for healing broken bones would suffices, as long as the magic is applied to that area.

Q3: Also, where is the boundary between healing and mutation?

A3: There can be a mixture of the two, but it depends on the spell. Think of healing magic as applying energy to the body to speed up its healing rate, while mutation directly affects the body's genetic makeup, such as giving a gene that allows an individual to regenerate their health at a fast rate.

Q4: Or basically just any other details you might have on healing magic and how it's supposed to work, really, if you don't mind me bothering you c:

A4: I'll add details as the RP progresses, if I forget anything, but here's what I have now:

"Healing

Healing magic requires basic comprehension. Essentially, it utilizes one's own magic resources to recover one's blood, patch wounds, etc. Anyone can start with healing magic.

Some examples including curing one's wounds, or mending a broken bone."

"Here are some example spells. These aren't set in stone, but this is what I'm going for in healing magic:

Healing Magic
1. Cure: Cure an ally.
2. Mend Bones: Mend broken bones.
3. Remove Poison: Activate the body's immune system with magic energy to remove poison."

Q5: Just a lil' side question, what exactly are charms/what can they be?

A5: "Charms (Any entity infused with magic energy and a magic spell)

Charms consist of magic energy and a magic spell. Any non-living entity can be a charm. Charms allow the user to cast a spell quickly, since they only require a minor chant to activate the charm, rather than fully chanting the array and effects for the spell. However, the charm can only be used until its out of magical energy, and it can only cast the magic spell inside the charm. Depending on the charm's quality, it can hold up a certain amount of magic energy."

Charms can pretty much be any non-living entity. Here's some examples:

Ley Line Communicator (Charm): A charm that allows one to communicate from a far distance.
Empower Wooden Sword (Charm): A charm that allows a wooden sword to cut through metal due to the empower spell.
Golem (Charm): A golem created as a charm to follow specific instructions.

The reason there was FMA is because the person who asked the question That Lass Over There That Lass Over There used that as a reference to his question. If you're not familiar, feel free to ask as many questions as you like. I'm happy to answer them.

Hachi Machi Hachi Machi I've read through all of the new changes you've made to the encyclopedia ^-^

This is just me, and of course you do not need to do this, but you may want to put your information in seperate accordians/or tabs to make things a little easier to find. Or you could just leave it as it is and tell us to Ctrl+F key words :P

Can I make up some spells for my character now? Or is there still more magic information to come? :3
