Fandom The Last Airbender

Sokka wandered about. He currently walked around in Capital City. Geez, since the war ended most of the fire benders were nice, but some still gave funny looks at him. He then continued waking. Currently, his attire still consisted of his firebending clothes. It felt weird to walk around the fire nation without fire nation clothing. 'I wonder, where is Katara? Maybe with Zuko... Aang and her did break up, were they even dating? Sure they had a few kisses here and there, but it didn't really show to me..' Sokka thought, wondering about random things.

He continued to walk, perhaps on the way to find Katara. "Wait, I should probably head to Zuko's place. That one time they were getting pretty mushy together. Didn't he backstab her after that though? Maybe it's coming true, that one time in that theater show. Yeah, yeah..... Wait, is Zuko trying to hit on my sister?" He started asking himself, getting skeptical. His eyes narrowed as he rubbed his chin. He continued on his path to the castle.

Stealthily, Sokka slipped past the guards. The Gaang was pretty good at sneaking past people. They used to do it a lot. He peeked behind a corner and saw Katara, Zuko, and some other girl talking. "Aha....." I know where you are little sister...." He whispered under his breath and he stood up taller. "Hey guys!" He suddenly said, walking over to the trio.

Giri was currently in the fire nation. Who knows why? Well, he was currently on the hunt for a certain plant/herb for his mother. She had been very sick the past few days. He had asked a doctor of her condition and he said that it wouldn't kill her, but she needed that herb or whatnot to recover. He was sitting atop Boulder, his ostrich horse. Don't ask about the name, his little brother named him. Giri gave hard looks to some of the citizens. Who knows one of these people could have helped Azula those months ago. The outer wall was damaged thanks to her drill. Just thinking about it made his skin boil.

He knew of the outer wall very well, he lived there after all. Those poor people who lost their homes couldn't repair just like that. They were poor for a reason, peasants yes? Giri's eyebrow twitched, but he gave it no thought. He then approached a shop, that looked like it was selling plants. He didn't know, he rarely went shopping for anything. Besides food of course. He hopped off Boulder and tied him to the post. "Stay here okay. I'm just going to ask a few questions inside," he told the ostrich horse. It dipped its head in response as he went in.

"Hellooo?" He asked walking inside. "Do you have these plant things umm, a mango and a tea plant?" Giri was clearly lost and didn't realize the big sign in front of the store that read it was a flower shop. Let's say he's a bit on the stupid side. He noticed a fire nation boy and girl talk to each other. Wait, was the shop even open? Giri wad no clue, standing there like an idiot. Did I mention he didn't have any shoes on?

Zuko listened intently to what his friend was saying. That was good, she was alright. He hated not being able to see her in so long. It was great to hear that she was doing okay, it was a relief. After the war and all, they had parted ways due to the fact that each person had some things they had to do.

"I'm glad to hear you've been alright." He said after she had finished talking. Marrying? That sounds like something most of his palace advisers were saying. And even he knew it to be true. At one point, he would have to marry someone. For the longest time, he had always thought that person to be Mai, but after their break up, he was sure that wasn't going to happen.

His attention was soon cut off from Katara and on to her brother Sokka who had just appeared. That was a bit odd, his guards were suppose to let him know if anyone else ventured to the palace. Of course, Sokka probably just sneaked in. "Greetings Sokka."

___

The red haired girl listened as the Fire Lord and his friend continued in conversation. She wasn't actually talking with them, but that was beside the point. She was too focused on the fact that she had actually got to see her king and his friends.

It wasn't long before another guy appeared. He wore the Fire Nation garb, but the way he talked so casually was clear he wasn't from here...most likely Water tribe. He did have a close resemblance to Katara.

@giraffesarebetter @LuckyMisfortune

Sokka smiled at Zuko when he said, "Greetings Sokka."

"How is the fire lord today?" He asked, smiling. "I mean how's it going being fire lord and all. Everything okay?" Sokka waited for a reply. He then saw a girl, who had never met before. She had maroon-red hair. He figured it was someone new. "Hey, my name's Sokka. What's yours?" He asked the girl, smiling.

(My post is so short, sorry! I'm not sure what to say....)

Katara visibly slumps at the appearance of her brother. "Hi, Sokka." She mumbles. She'd really been hoping to have a day off from his sarcasm and bad jokes when she slipped away this morning. Of course, her brother kne her too well. He would know just where to go.

After a couple moments, she nearly smacks herself in the head. "Izumi, this is my brother, Sokka. He found Aang with me." Katara knew that if she mentioned their fantastic adventure in the slightest, Sokka would be off, embellishing his feats. He did this anyway, but especially around girls, and especially now that he ans Suki aren't together. The waterbender makes a mental note to apologize to Izumi later.

___________

Ryuu turns around and looks at the Earth Kingdom boy. It was obvious he was Earth Kingdom, and firmly lower class, by the looks of it. He didn't even wear shoes.

"Um. I don't think so. Ask Mai, she works here." He says politely, stepping aside to allow the guy to talk to her. After a beat, he places various coins on the counter and heads out to leave with his remaining two panda lillies, thinking that Mai would want nothing to do with him after he'd brought u[ her relationship with the Fire Lord.

@Apollogy8 @Lethal Multi\-Chara

"I suppose everything's been great, apart from being constantly busy." Zuko replied even though now Sokka's attention was now directed to the girl. Which was actually what Zuko was hoping for. Even though Sokka was a good friend, he still got annoyed by his constant joking, sarcasm, and hunger. Atleast with Sokka now occupied with Izumi, Zuko would now have a better chance to talk to Katara.

___

"Name's Izumi." She answered with a small smile. "Nice to meet you Sokka. So, you helped find the Avatar?" Izumi asked, after hearing Katara introduce him. He looked nice...and strong, sorta like a guy you would want around you. However, she barely knew any guys like that.

@LuckyMisfortune @giraffesarebetter

(OoC: I'm going to just rp Katara rn since @Lethal Multi-Chara isn't on atm)

Katara watches her brother interact with Izumi, then turns back to Zuko. "Surely you have some time to get away from being Fire Lord?" She asks, running a hand over one of her ponytails. (I don't know what to call them O.o ) "We should get you out of the palace walls, have some fun."

@Apollogy8 @LuckyMisfortune

"If only I did have time." He complained, glancing down at the ground. Katara might have suggested to have fun, but a Fire Lord's job is constantly busy with very few breaks. However, he wasn't only a Fire Lord, he was also a teenager. His life shouldn't have to constantly revolve around his job, besides, he was sure it wouldn't hurt to get some time off. "You know, I think you're right."

@giraffesarebetter

Katara grins. "I think there's a festival thing tonight, do you want to go?" She does her very best to hide her excitement. She is a master waterbender, a bloodbender. Going to a festival with a boy shouldn't be such a big deal, even if that boy was the Fire Lord.

Though she never thought of Zuko as the Fire Lord, so what is her problem?

@Apollogy8

"That sounds great." He answered with a smile, "I would love to go!" Going to a festival with Katara seemed nice, she had always been a good friend. It's the annual firebending festival where many firebenders take the stage to show off their skills. Not only that, there would refreshments, music, shows, and more. Even though he had never actually went to one, due to him being banned and out teaming up with the Avatar, he had always admired to go to one.

@giraffesarebetter

"Name's Izumi," the girl responded. "Nice to meet you Sokka. So, you helped find the Avatar?"

Sokka smiled, about to get really annoying. "Yep! That's me the boomerang guy. I was the planner and the only nonbender might I add. Oh, wait probably shouldn't boast my glory. Hah, anyways, nice to meet you!" He said, rubbing behind his head.

"Anyways, what's up with you?" He asked, clearly trying not to be a total show off. He was trying.

His attention was suddenly diverted to his sister. "Sorry Izumi, but wait a sec...." He said, eyes narrowed.

"I think there's a festival thing tonight, do you want to go?" Katara had said to Zuko.

"Woah, woah. Who said who could go to festival? If you're going, I'm going and Izumi is coming with me. That is if she wants to," Sokka said suddenly. He was acting a little overprotective now. He knew she broke up with Aang, and she got cozy with Zuko once before.

(Sorry for the lack of response, I'm have to go swimming with my family soon. So I was getting ready.)

Edit: I have to leave, I will have to be back later

(it's fine.)

"Sokka..." She says, rolling her eyes. Katara doesn't argue further though, as she knows how her brother is. Completely irresponsible, until it comes to keeping her away from the male gender. "Great, Zuko. I can't wait." Her fingers find her necklace again and toy with it as she absent mindedly watches a family of turtle ducks get harassed by Momo.

Zuko mentally rolled his eyes. Of course Sokka would want to come, it may have been natural, but the firebender sorta wanted some time with just him and Katara. Though, he saw no point in arguing with Sokka over it. If Sokka was bringing a girl, then it really wouldn't matter. He knew the water tribe teenager would mostly spend his time trying to impress the girl.

__

He seemed a bit...boastful, but Izumi didn't mind. Instead, she found that to be a bit cute. A festival? She thought to herself. What are the odds? Bumping into a girl on the road, meeting the Fire Lord, and now going to a festival with them? She had to admit, she was having a lucky day. "Of course I want to." She added on after Sokka finished. "It sounds like fun~."

@LuckyMisfortune @giraffesarebetter

"Zuko, would you show me the best view from the palace?" Katara asks suddenly, still itching to be away from her brother for awhile. She loves the buffoon, but he is just that... a buffoon. Besides, he and Izumi were really hitting it off. He probably wouldn't even notice they'd left. Plus she really wants to see more of the palace, as she'd only been in it once or twice.

@Apollogy8

Zuko nodded with relief, "Of course." He answered, thankfully to getaway from her brother. He lead her up a stair case that lead it's way to an outside balcony. The view was tremendous. From the balcony, the whole garden was in sight, and if you looked farther out, you could see the town and how many people were preparing for the festival. Not to mention was the view lovely, it was also quite peaceful. "You know, I guess I never realized how often I come here. I mean, with meetings and all the whole Fire Lord thing, this is the only place where I can actually think without being interrupted."

@giraffesarebetter

Katara looks up at the firebender, studying his expression. "You are really so busy that you can't even think?" She asks, astounded. She knew leading a nation would be hard on her friend, but she had no idea it would be this difficult. She couldn't manage a day without freezing someone if she couldn't have her own time to think.

@Apollogy8

(Sorry was dead sleep until now... xD )

"What the... This just isn't my day..."

Mai looked over from the boy who had seemed dead set on apologizing to her to the earthbender in her doorway. He was lower class by the look of it and was asking her if they had some certain plants. She scowled leaning her arms on the counter and out of the corner of her eye noticed that the other boy had set some coins down on the counter before slipping out. Heaving a slow sigh she glanced at the new visitor. Something about him struck her as being genuinely stupid.

"A mango is a fruit...buy it from a fruit stand... A tea plant you get from a tea shop or herb shop... Now goodbye were closed..."

Stepping ot from behind the counter Mai firmly ushered the male towards the door and outside. Shutting and locking the door she returned to the balcony upstairs. Looking out she realized that there was a lot of activity going on in the streets. Another sigh escaped her lips, she had forgotten the festival was today.

Ketsueki was humming to herself as she twirled through the streets. It was good to finally be away from that palace place. She knew the new Fire Lord had a reputation for wanting to exist peacefully with the other nations, but that didn't mean all his constituents shared the same feeling. The longer she stayed in the city the more she felt out of place. Shaking her head to clear her mind she spotted a nearby herb shop. Turning aside she went in to the shop smiling as the scent of fresh herbs filled her nose. She decided to browse about for a while, they did need some more herbs anyway, her stocks in the shop at Omashu were getting low.

"Yeah well, being Fire Lord is a very busy job. There's always something to do...whether it's meetings, visitors, and policies discussions. It doesn't help that my family left behind a big mess to clean up." Zuko answered her.

@giraffesarebetter

Katara nods. "How do you do it?" She asks, moving her gaze from the scarred landscape of Zuko's face to the perfect scenery before her.

_________

Ryuu strokes the petals of the lillies, already halfway to the end of the shopping district. Suddenly, he turns around and begins running through the crowds, only stopping when he gets to the shop. The door is closed again, and he knows that Mai is outside on the balcony. So he shouts. "Hey! I'll pick you up at dusk!"

Mai raised an eyebrow as she looked down from the balcony. It was a quaint surprise of sorts to see that the boy from earlier, he introduced himself as Ryuu, had come back. Leaning both arms on the railing she glance down at him. She tilted her head slightly hands tucked in her sleeves. She didn't really feel like yelling so she only raised her voice to the point where she assumed he'd be able to hear her.

"For what...?"

Ryuu grins. "The Festival!" He walks off again, not giving her a chance to say no.

When he reaches his home, he steals away to his room, not wanting his mother to seel the lillies, as they were a surprise.

Zuko shook his head, "I'm not even sure myself." He answered. It was true, he had no idea how he hadn't went the least bit insane with all of this. It was pressuring just as much as it was busy. There were times when he had really considered if he should even be king, but he wasn't going to allow that. There would be no one to had the throne to besides his sister, which he refused to let that happen.

@giraffesarebetter

Giri was flushed, hearing the girl tell him about his mistakes. "Ah, I'm so stupid, thanks anywa-" Girir was about to respond, but was kicked out. He sighed, man, the fire nation was pretty confusing. He stood up, brushing off his pants. "Well, that was embarrassing," he said, rubbing behind his neck. He watched as the boy from before and the girl converse. He caught little snippets, but realized there was a festival and she just got asked out in a date. He smiled, chuckling and then walking off.

"So, a festival? Maybe I'll attend, mom will be okay. She did tell me to have some fun for a bit. I guess I will," he said, smiling and heading towards a couple of shops where he could find the items he needed.

Okay, he was lost. Nothing looked like the poor part if Ba Sing Se. He turned his head around, looking for someone to help him. No one looked like they wanted to talk, so he went around for a while. He saw a girl, in blue robes, browsing herbs in an herb shop. He figured he'd go with it, even if she was from a water tribe. "'Scuse me, miss. But do you know where I can find a tea shop or a fruit stand. I clearly do not know what I am doin....."

@Lethal Multi\-Chara

"Of course I want to," Izumi said, snapping his attention away from Katara and Zuko. "It sounds like fun~" she added, smiling slightly.

Sokka smiled in return and said, "Great! So, wanna do something in the mean time. Walk or something?" He was starting to warm up more to the girl. She looked like a lot of fun. Then he just realized he practically asked the girl on a date. Ho, ho, ho, Sokka getting girls without even realizing it. He smiled, but blushed a little.

Katara bites her lip. "Maybe you just need someone to share this huge mansion with. I mean, it's just you and the servants here." She leans against the balcony, watching her brother and Izumi in the gardens.

"Eh...? There should be a fruit stand in the market place... But as far as tea shops go...what exactly are you looking for...? My sister and I have a tea shop in Omashu so I always have some sort of tea plants on me..."

Ketsueki smiled as she turned to face the boy who had spoken to her. Dressed in white and blue she guessed he had spoken to her because she was obviously and outsider in this city much like he was. He was an from the one of the Earth Nation cities, probably Ba Sing Se by the look of it. The water bender seemed to be genuinely friendly, unlike she was with many of the others. She shifted the bundle of herbs she held from one hand to the other as she reached up to brush a loose strand of hair away from her face.

"Whatever..."

Mai shook her head as Ryuu walked off again. Her day couldn't get any stranger than this. Though she doubted her would remember and return at dusk she considered it any way. If he did show up she supposed it would do no harm for her to go. After all the festival couldn't be any worse than sitting alone in the house. Being a way from her parents had helped her demeanor some. She was able to do what she wanted now without worrying about who she had to please. Of course that didn't mean her attitude or outlook were any more cheerful. She was simply a bit more relaxed. Going to her room she tossed herself on her bed, rolling over to stare at the ceiling. She sighed.
