Blood of the Dragon
Be a characteer from the show or an OC!

It's a year after the war, and everything has changed. Suki and Sokka are broken up, as are Katara and Aang and Zuko and Mai. Zuko is running the Fire Nation smoothly, and together, he and Aang have been smoothing over any residual conflicts between the people.

All was fine, until Azula escapes from prison...

Katara wanders the streets of Capital City, her red clothing blending in perfectly. She always feels the need to wear Fire Nation attire in the Fire Nation. Momo sits comfortably on her shoulder.

They were just passing by a shop selling fire flakes when Momo take off to grab a handful and ends up gliding over the buildings to another alleyway.

She runs after him, "Momo!" She shouts, almost reaching him when she runs into a wall of muscle, knocking them both down. (this can be whoever gets here first and wants to be accidently tackled by a waterbending master)

_____________

Ryuu whistles as he adjusts a basket of fire flakes, watching the people go by. He recognizes Katara, the Waterbending Master from the South Pole, and her flying lemur. Others that pass, he couldn't have pointed out even if he wanted to. "Oi, Ryuu! Stop messing about and set up some refreshments. The sun is blazing today!"

"
Yes, Mr. Chun." Ryuu says, rolling his golden eyes and setting out some cold drinks.

Izumi walked down the streets of the city. Her hands were busy fixing her hair up in pony tail. She was scheduled for training in about thirty minutes which is about the time it takes to walk to the lesson grounds.

She continued walking but not for long. She was soon knocked down by another girl. "Uhg!" The firebender said and rubbed the back of her head while on the ground. "Are you alright?" She asked the other.

Katara gets up and offers a hand to the girl she knocked down. "Yeah, are you?" The waterbender looks down, obviously concerned, but her eyes flick away every few seconds to look for Momo. That rotten lemur!

___________

Rayuu goes back to his whistling, ignoring his boss' comments. The customers don't mind, so why should he?

"Uh, I suppose." Izumi answered, accepting the hand. "Might I ask, what are you in such a hurry about?" It was obvious something was making the other girl in a hurry.

"My friend's pet lemur, he ran off..." She explains, dusting off her skirts after pulling the girl up. "He's actually probably off to find Zuko or something... I'm Katara, by the way."

Pet lemur? Most firebenders don't have pet lemurs...lemurs didn't live around these parts. Then again, Izumi realized that this Katara girl might not even be a firebender. "Nice to meet you Katara, I'm Izumi." She answered her, "If it helps, I can help look for your friend's lemur, if you want?" She offered, giving her the perfect excuse to skip firebending training. However, Izumi became more aware that she wasn't from after hearing Katara throw out the name Zuko. No one here would do that unless addressing him by Fire Lord, which meant that girl in front of her was either one of tha Avatar's friend...or was dating Zuko. Most likely the first choice.

Katara notices something flash in Izumi's eyes when she mentions Zuko, and smiles. "I'm Katara, the girl who found the Avatar." She clarifies. "The lemur is his, actually. And, like I said. Momo is probably off to find Zuko. Er. Fire Lord Zuko."

"I have to head that way anyway, do you want to come with me and help me look along the way? Zuko is always open to meeting his subjects. Especially if they're friends of mine."

"Why is everything so boring..."

Mai's voice was completely monotone as she leaned her arms on the railing. It was a nice enough day out but that didn't mean much. The shop was closed and her aunt had taken Tom-Tom with her on a trip to pick up some new flowers to add to the stock. So here she was, all alone in the middle of the day with absolutely nothing to do. She briefly entertained the idea of going for a walk. It was something to do at least. She uttered a deep sigh, tucking her hands into her sleeves. Sometimes she almost missed being at the palace, but she hadn't seen Zuko since they had broken up. The thought of it made her frown and she realized it would still be quite a while before she got over her hurt feelings. As she was pondering this she noticed what appeared to be a strange looking girl alongside another one, walking down the street.

"This place is full of weirdos..."

"Tsu. TSU!!"

Ketsueki blinked turning to glance at her sister Seiko who was walking beside her. Tilting her head she smiled, reaching up to rub the back of her head. Seiko had probably been calling her name for quite a while judging by the cross expression on her face. It wasn't really her fault, her sister should know by now how quickly she was prone to start daydreaming. Standing side by side the two didn't bear much similarity in resemblance. Seiko looked a lot like their mother, with tan skin, blue eyes, and long dark hair. She was dressed in a casual attire of a black and red dress though she sported the engagement necklace bearing the design of the Northern Water Tribe. Ketsueki by comparison had her father's pale complexion and gold eyes, her long hair braided and pulled up in a slightly intricate style. Her outfit was white and blue and of a style not seen outside of the Koshu Island where she had grown up. She giggled lifting softly and reached over to link arms with Seiko.

"Sorry sis... I was lost in thought again..."

The firebender had to admit that made better sense then the dating one. But still, Katara was the one to find the Avatar? That was some real luck.

"I would love to tag along!" Izumi answered with a smile. The chance to meet the Fire Lord, there was no way she was going to pass this one up. Who cared about firebeding training anyways? The Fire Lord was much more important.

Katara smiles and heads up the street, saying something about not having seen Zuko in awhile. In her mind, she was more focused on the two girls wearing blue. They reminded her of home, and though she liked her Fire Nation garb, she misses the soft blue clothe of her robes. She still has her necklace, at least. The waterbender's hand reaches up and strokes the smooth stone hanging from the blue ribbon around her neck.

Ryuu looks to the skies. "Agni." He mutters. "I'm off. See you tomorrow!" Before his boss can say or do anything, Ryuu launches himself over the counter and into the streets, disappearing.

He weaves through the crowd, and begins to stop at his mother's favorite flower shop, only to see that it was closed. The girl who works there was out on the prch though. "Excuse me? Could you help me out?"

Izumi walked close to Katara, though she was mainly focused on the fact that she was about to meet the Fire Lord. What was he like? Mean, scary, nice, friendly? Did it even matter?

The girl glanced over to Katara. So this is what a...watarbender acts like? She wore the Fire Nation clothes, but maybe that's what water benders did in respect of other nations.

"Sometimes I think you might be a little absent in the head sister."

Seiko chuckled softly leaning against Ketsueki as they made their way down the street. Tsu laughed lightly bumping her sister with her hip. She was pleased to see that Seiko wasn't mad with her. She loved her sister dearly, something displayed by the fact that she had willingly traveled to Capital City which was in Fire Nation territory, to accompany her sister on this trip. Seiko had been a bit miffed that she had not worn the Fire Nation colored garb she had purchased for her but Tsu was not one to easily relinquish her Water Tribe colors even in her outfit wasn't traditional Northern Water Tribe wear. Absently she began to play with one of the large blue beads in her hair, smiling as she glimpsed the darker blue of the Northern Tribe crest design.

"I just might be..."

At the sound of someone addressing her Mai paused what she was doing which, at the moment, was throwing knives at the blank sign board hanging at the far end of the porch. Mai leaned forward her gaze going to the male standing at the shop door. The shop was closed but she was perhaps inclined to open for a moment. Ringing up at least one order would give her something to do other than stand there. After a few moments consideration she decided to see what he wanted. Instead of wasting her breath holding a loud conversation from the balcony, or her energy by walking down stairs and unlocking the door she simply vaulted over the railing. She dropped from the balcony to land lightly on her feet beside him. Tucking her hands into her sleeves she turned to face him. When she spoke she sounded bored.

"What do you want...?"

"So, how long have you lived in Capital City?" Katara asks, trying to illicit a conversation from the girl. She continues toying with her necklace, glancing around at roof tops for the striped tail of her lemur friend.

__________

@Lethal Multi\-Chara

Rayuu looks the girl up and down, taking in her shiny black hair, her bored expression amid her pretty, sharp features. She looks familiar, and not just from working at a flower shop he frequents.

"Um. It's my mother's birthday tomorrow. I wanted to get some Panda Lillies for her. Do you think you could open up shop for a tiny bit?"

"Sixteen years." Izumi replied, "I've actually always lived here." It was true, the firebender had always lived in the capital city though she never really thought about it. There were even times when she wished she hadn't.

___

The Firelord walked outside his palace, standing on the cold stone stairs that lead to a small pond in the garden. His day had been booked with non stop meetings and discussions which was really starting to bug him. This right now was actually the only free time he had gotten all day.

Suddenly a noise was heard from the bush and out jumped the small lemur. "Momo?" Zuko questioned looking at the lemur who was now on his shoulder. The fire lord patted the lemur on the head, "Nice to see you Momo." It was actually very nice to see him because it meant his friends were in town as well.

"Sure... Why not..."

Mai turned, rummaging in her sleeve and pulling out the shop key. Unlocking the door she pushed it open and stepped inside, motioning for him to enter. The shop itself was lit by the sunlight that streamed through the large windows. An array of plants filled the shelves, some cut and wrapped and others still fresh and vibrant in planters. Even among all the beautiful bright blooms her almost disaffected expression didn't change. Her aunt had been trying to get her to smile more around the customers, but it hadn't worked so far and it certainly wouldn't now. She grabbed a piece of thin red paper to wrap the flower in and was setting about the task of deciding on the right bow with which to tie it.

"The panda lilies are in the back by the window... Pick what you want and bring them here..."

She pointed in the direction of the back of the shop where another shelf held an array of different lilies, panda lilies being among them. She hated panda lilies.

Seiko was talking about something but she had stopped paying attention. She was deeply involved in her thoughts, day dreaming of the island and of Haame. She missed her teacher more than anything. The days they had spent training in the lily pond had been some of the most memorable ones in her life. She was so deeply lost in though that she almost didn't notice the small children running down the street. She stepped slightly to one side just in time to let the pass. However one little girl tripped, skinning her knee in the process, and burst in to tears. Blinking and shaking free of her thought Ketsueki let go of her sisters arm and crouched by the small child.

"Hey... Did you know that crying helps let all the pain out so you heal faster...?"

A soft motion of her hand summoned the water from the child tears away from her face, effectively wiping her eyes. The water began to circulate a bit gaining a faint blueish glow. Lowering her fingertips she brushed the glowing water across the child's scraped knee healing the wound. Ruffling the little girl's hair she stood helping her up. The child smiled, bowing politely before running a way. Ketseuki smile as the child scampered away but the expression on her face didn't quite reach her eyes.

"Oh, wow. I've only been here for about two days." The waterbender says. "We're almost there. To the palace, I mean." Katara's smile widens the closer the get to Zuko's home. She hadn't seen him in nearly 3 months, and was excited. She missed the spirited arguments the would get into.

______

Momo chatters pleasantly and begins to pat at Zuko's pockets, obviously looking for food. He, like Sokka, always wants food.

______

@Lethal Multi\-Chara

Rayuu nods and picks out three panda lillies. "Tell me, flower-girl. Which is your favourite flower?" He glances at her and takes his time looking over the wide selection of blooms.

"None... I don't care much for flowers..."

Mai was leaning with her arms on the counter, glancing boredly out of the window at the front of the shop. She sighed softly resting her chin in her hand. She glanced at the male with brief interest. It wasn't every day someone asked her such a pointless question and far less often that she got called something like flower girl. It was almost amusing.

"By the way my name is Mai not flower girl..."

"Don't sweat it. Two days are still quite long in this populous city." This city is always going, no matter what, something is always happening which is one of the very thing Izumi like about the city.

Finally the two arrived at the palace. Izumi's eyes widened at the sight, she had never actually went inside. In all of her sixteen years in the capital not once has she even visited the palace.

___

"Here you go." Zuko says with a small smile getting a small snack out of his pocket. "Your Majesty, two women are here to see you. One by the name of Katara." Says one Zuko's messengers. The Fire Lord gave a nod in return and then went to the the gates of the palace to meet up with the two.

"Katara, it's been awhile." Zuko greeted her once he had arrived

Katara grins and steps forward to hug him. "It's been too long." After the hug ends, she steps back, and Momo jumps onto her shoulder. "Zuko, this is Izumi. Izumi, this is Zuko." Katara completely forgoes any and all formalities. She never really thinks about them, as they don't apply to her.

@Lethal Multi\-Chara

"Mai? Oh, that's where I know you from! You dated Fire Lord Zuko, right?" The words tumble out of Ryuu's mouth before he has any time to think about it. Obviously, they weren't together anymore, so he might of hit a sore spot. "Sorry. I'm Ryuu. I suppose I'll just have the panda lillies."

"Nice to meet you Izumi." He introduced himself, even though Katara had just got done doing that. It was just common courtesy and manners especially when you're a king. "Tell me Katara, how have you been?" He asked as he lead both of them inside.

__

"Pleasure to meet you aswell." Izumi responded. Who would have thought by bumping into some girl on the street that she'd end up meeting the Fire Lord? She was sure most people didn't get a privilege like this.

"Dated... Past tense..."

Though her expression and tone said she didn't care there was that faint squeeze in her heart that reminded her that she did. She brushed it off though and buried it deep along with the other things she didn't want to think about. Taking the panda lilies she carefully wrapped the end of each stem in a small square of wet cloth. A swift motion saw the flowers wrapped in the red tissue paper and tied with a black silk bow. She handed them across the counter.

"There you go... I won't charge you this time...but come back again... Or whatever..."

"Eh..! Sei what are we doing here...?!"

Ketsueki turned to her sister, eyes wide as they stood at the deliver entrance of the palace. Her eyes darted about as she looked at the guards and then back at her sister. Seiko chuckled, infuriatingly calm and patted her hand lightly. Despite the ditzy expression of confusion curently on her face she was genuinely concerned. To be this close to a bunch of fire benders made her skin crawl. The hatred that she had repressed for so long seemed so much closer to the surface now. She shoved it back down turning a still innocently confused gaze on her sister who had simply ignored her and approached the guards.

"I'm here to deliver a parcel from Lord Iroh sent from the Jasmine Dragon tea shop. Would you mind terribly letting us in. My assistant and I have a letter with out instructions if you and you Lord would like to see it. And you may check the parcel too."

As Seiko handed over both the letter and parcel things clicked for Tsu. She had almost forgotten that Seiko had become close to Iroh as the the two shared a passion and talent for tea that she frankly found a tad disturbing. Seiko frequently went to Ba Sing Se to speak with him and Tsu had even played Pai Sho with him a few times. She remembered Seiko had mentioned that they would be delivering and brewing tea for a close friend of Iroh's while they were in the city but she hadn't thought this was what she had meant. She simply smiled rocking back and forth on her heels as a guard went off with the letter from Iroh.

Katara shrugs. "I've been alright. Sokka and Dad have been making jokes that it's time to marry me off. I'm glad to have a vacation from that." She walks next to the Fire Lord, a small smile on her face.

Momo glides over to Izumi and lands on her shoulder, chattering.

____________

Ryuu shakes his head and digs out some coins. "I shouldn't have mentioned it. I'm sorry." He takes one of the lillies and hands it to her, his expression genuinely sorry. "How much is it?"
