Just remember that, if as the Captain says we are doing 12-13th century, your knight is this guy:

(funny enough this is an English knight, so the coloring is spot on. Red for days)

Not this guy:

So, you know, heavy chainmail and maybe a coat of plates, not plate armor. Kinda envy you, tbh. 13th century knights with their great helms and heavy chain are my fav knights.

Yeah, but there better be a DAMN good reason as to why there is a foreigner with such foreign armor in that land and how does he even know to speak the language.

Like the world has to be accounted for you know?

It was a constructive wire cutting! The thing where you get rid of the outer coating so that the metal is exposed. I was very helpful that day

Be aware rhat this will cause conflict all around, as you are in a land that is rather intolerant of foreigners. Also, the only way to effectively communicate with evrryone (the group) is going ti be through Havel or whatever the scholar can muddle together.

:p Figured I would mention that since you said you weren't that into history. But still envy you. I freaking love 13th century knights. My favorite by far. Never get to use them since most people go with the advanced heavy plate.
