Fantasy The Land Of The Rising Sun (OOC Chat)

I promise you that I for one have neither knowledge nor the motivation to learn about feudal Japan lmao what a trooper

If you feel motivated to learn a bit of background, I'm willing to object to what Kazehana Kazehana said and say go for it. If anything, I feel like there actually needs to be some more authenticity in the rp. Why not let rp'ing indirectly teach you some things as you learn them? If you remember anything from high school, they probably would've touched on this piece of history at some point. As for the actual time period, we're probably talking about 13th-14th century Japan.

Cosmosis Cosmosis So for perspective, the palanquin (Carriage) would be beyond the gates of the Hourasian clan, kind of like parked outside
So they will be informed of the commotion before giving an order like "detain him, we'll deal with him later" since he showed his powers for whatever reason they will definitely want to detain him to find out what the hell that was with Matsuyo giving the order
Had he not done that he probably could have walked away

Count Gensokyo Count Gensokyo What are your thoughts on it? I am finishing up my post now

O boy. Didn't know it was that far away from em. Oopzie.

I'm still a bit confused as to how his character managed to interject into anything that's going on at the moment. If he fell outside the (probably now closed) gates, would it have much bearing?

I didn't say not to! I was commending him on his commitment to authenticity d;

I was going off of that my character just knows something is up and doesn't really know what, but that she feels there's something wrong. xD
Spoopy occurrences between the three species

Count Gensokyo Count Gensokyo Mainly because of the burst of fire he did when he rolled, that might be something of note? Not so much that it would interrupt but a guard could come up to Matsuyo, whisper in his ear and he could whisper back the order.
It would also cause a bit of tension because the Mizumoto's would be like 'wonder what that was about, looks suspect lol'

But as for us, after introductions are we skipping to dinner or would you like to have a bit more of dialogue, maybe a tour of the household?

A tour would definitely challenge my setting-describing skills (or more likely my image-finding skills). Knowing that a time skip to dinner would require a wait until time has progressed until evening in the rp, I'd be a bit hesitant to do try and time-skip.

I'm cool with images or whatever other ideas you have in mind to pass the time :)

*Heisenberg bursts into the chatroom*

Aha! Eleph, so this is were you were roleplaying... and it seems like you're caught in the middle of a feudal Japan... which I know little to nothing about!

Well, it seems that if I want to join here I've got a lot of reading to do on feudal Japan and plus I've got to read up on all the posts. Yeah, that's a damn lot of reading I've gotta do. Welp, I've got to go to school shortly so I'll do it later.

Hmm, I was thinking of either being a Westerner that traveled as far east as possible to explore the world or a lost sailor from one of the islands in the Pacific Ocean that washed up ashore in Japan. Both characters can learn foreign languages really really fast... (For convenience's sake.)

I don't know if my Westerner will either be a daring merchant, a knight on a pilgrimage, or just a simple peasant. And as for the sailor in the Pacific ocean, he could be a warrior from one of the tribes or something.

Can I ask what time period this setting is in? A rough estimate is fine.

Doh, you've caught me red-handed!

So, just to spark up an eligible conversation, anyone read books here?

Aye. Just finished the codex alera (pretty much Rome meets avatar the last airbender) series and waiting for the last guardian so I can finish Artemis Fowl as well.

Yourself? I'm at work now, on my phone.

He can't avoid looking forever :p
And she'd love to know where the rumor of her being a Tengu came from XD

(I do have a rough idea of when I want that to happen, and I shall fight tooth and nail to make it happen!)

Well it kind of works out in his favor since only a few guards at the gate would have seen what he did so there is a chance his identity as a half demon can still be concealed

Magic users aren't always demon/half demon. Buuut his physical abilities may give it away. (Longish hair saves his pointed ears from discovery!)

I thought they'd still be outside, being invited in. But even so, it's possible he ran past the closing gates as well. Most castles and palaces have a walled off entrance where people can gather so maybe Yennie Yennie has her npc group in that area? And he came from the back if the side doesn't work position wise via gate placement. It'd make his jump all the more inhuman on top of it ya know?

You can learn as your character learns. xD

Gah, I'm going to have to read a lot of your posts first. It might be several days before I get to join you guys...

Or I might give up halfway and not go into the roleplay at all. Still, I have nothing to do and so I must at least try first.

Well, shit, I actually don't know much about knights during the 13th-14th century.

*Googles knights*

Fuck, internet's slow.

*Facepalms*

Fuck guys, the reality is starting to sink in. How can a knight from England go all the way to Japan without getting killed by bandits, dying of starvation, and surviving all that exposure to the elements?

He could try crossing through the Middle East, but the Muslims there are probably gonna cut him in half for being Christian. He could try going through Russia, but it's so fucking cold and he can't speak the language. He could try traveling through ship, but there's probably nobody that's willing to sail all the way to Japan. Oh, and he could get shipwrecked too or attacked by pirates.

There are just so many ways that he could die. And why would a knight go so far from home when he could be comfy in his own manor? Mmm, lots of thoughts running through my head, guys.
