I mount my kalisk after, Katheryn ordered me and a few others to get on our kalisks and chat on the way, I manage to get on my kalisk with ease but I've never ridden one so I'm hoping it'll take it easy on me and I sure as hell regret giving Katheryn that potion now she's way to energised and it's kinda scary I've never seen an effect this strong from a stamina potion. I sigh, "god damn its been years since I've seen a kalisk" I mutter under my breath.

Fen
Fen 2.jpg
Young, but talented nymph water mage, that has problem with sticking to his life decisions for more than few days.

As the rude goblin made his way on the saddle of mermaid, only with an inelegant ‘Mind if I hitch a ride?’ as apology, Fen almost bent whiskey inside his bottle to throw the stowaway off of Aryea’s Kalisk. But as the woman handwaved the incident, he decided to let it pass.

‘You are too kind for your own good’, Fen thought as he walked away from the mermaid. ‘Maybe he will get drunk and fall? That would solve the problem. Or maybe not, she would probably take him back anyway.’

The nymph arrived to one of the few Kalisks, that were not already taken by anybody. None of them seemed to stand out for him – all with intelligent eyes, sharp teeth and long tails. To add to it, he didn’t have a slightest clue how to ride quadruped. Mountain nymph never actually ridden anything, as the rocky landscape of their region rendered most of horse-like creatures useless. Instead, they relied on combination of climbing, gliding with their capes and elemental magic to quickly traverse the mountains, a technique that proved impossible to adapt to the flat land.

Fen’s eyes finally laid upon a blue-greyish animal – a combination of colours that reminded him of home. A poor criterium for choosing mount, but nymph’s knowledge on Kalisks were non-existent.

‘It's decided then,’ Fen started looking around him, at the other adventurers slowly making their way out of the area of tavern. Remembering an advice mermaid gave him, the boy pulled the reins and made Kalisk walk after him. ‘Let’s see if I can also find somebody to help me with that.’

His eyes moved quickly as the commotion around the two elven guides attracted his attention. Reis was approached by a woman waving her sword and man who was apparently trying to steer her away from the desire of cutting Flan. But, not the first time today, the other jester attracted Fen’s attention. Ryas seemed pretty amused by the entire situation and, maybe, as a guide of their trip he would be willing to help.

‘Would be a sin not to try.’ Fen let a grin appear on his face, as he made sure his hair and cape were in tolerable state. He quickly made his way to the younger of elves, just after he had given the signal for others to leave the village.

“Pardon,” Fen started with barely hidden enthusiasm in his voice. As Ryas turned his head in nymph’s direction, the boy continued: “I have never ridden anything quadruped. Can I tie my reins to yours? It would at least make this thing follow yours.”

‘And give me an excuse to talk to you on regular basis’ Fen added in his thoughts.

"CAN'T YOU GUYS JUST SHUT UP FOR ONE DAMN SECOND? IT'S HARD TO THINK WITH ALL THIS STUPID TWADDLE!" a rather violent shout tore through air, as one of the team females suddenly yelled at them from the front of formation.

‘What a lovely personality,’ Fen thought amused, as he looked at the angry eyes of the woman. ‘Is she one of those who shout at people when they feel sad?’

Fen must have admitted, he didn’t mind girls with such a ‘fiery’ personality. He wouldn’t call himself an ice mage, if such a cute, small fire would be a challenge for him.

Watching the rest of the group getting along - for the most part, anyway - rose Vilias' spirits. Sure, there were disagreements, but most of them were getting along. "Maybe we'll actually be able to do this..." he said quietly to himself. He felt a smile appear on his face, and he relaxed. He noticed nobody had come to him to chat, and while he wouldn't be opposed, it wasn't like he needed much social interaction to keep himself going. After all, he tended to explore on his own, and a lack of social stuff was kinda to be expected. Then again, maybe he SHOULD try to chat to someone... Of course, because he rarely socialised, he didnt know how to talk to people well. He decided not to start a conversation with anyone, but remain open for conversation.

That being said, it wasnt like he didnt want to talk to anyone. Some of these people actually seemed very interesting and he felt that he could maybe end up with more friends at the end of it all. He held the amulet somewhat nervously, still moving forward with the rest of the group, not sure what he should really do other than what he'd already decided on. He wanted to take a bit of a flight around to help him think, and also to stretch his wings a little, but he didn't know if Winter would continue following the group, nor did he think he wanted to go through getting on it again after the struggle last time. Sighing, he kept going. He felt they'd probably stop at some point, then he could take a short flight - maybe 20, 30 minutes - then come back. His wings flapped a little, showing his want to fly, but he kept riding.

Though Metaralis wasn't very satisfied with the response, he decided to not push further. The job of a mercenary wasn't to ask questions, after all. Instead, he turned around to look at the remaining beasts that they would use to travel. He approached one that wasn't too big, probably a little bit smaller than the rest - somewhat like him, right? - and let it sniff his hand. When he felt that the creature had been accustomed to him, he patted its head and walked to its side, climbing on the saddle. He looked over to Delastarh who was scratching vigorously his Khalisk under the chin, the beast seemed very happy with it, then climbed on the saddle. And like that, they started to follow the group toward their first destination and trial.

The two humans were keeping a little bit apart from the rest of the group, mostly keeping an eye on their surroundings and talking to each other. Many were talking together about themselves and magic and things that weren't familiar at all for the two mercenaries of Du'Rym.

"I hope we'll have enough photon crystals for the whole mission. I fear this whole ordeal is going to be longer than we thought..." Metaralis said, his frown had not left him since they arrived at the tavern.

"If anything, maybe one of the magic people will be able to recharge ours?" Delastarh asked. "I don't know much about magic. Didn't you study it a little?"

The short man shook his head. "Just in theory and history. I've never been able to produce magic on my own. It takes years of learning."

The sudden outburst of a woman drew their attention, but most people seemed to ignore her.

"Not used to be in a group environment, sweetheart?" Delastarh asked with a smirk.

"Don't aggro her, please," his partner groaned. "We can't start fights not even an hour into the trip."

Dela shrugged. "Better work these out before we need to rely on each other in a deadly fight."

Metaralis sighed. Really, his partner was a pain in the butt, sometimes.

The Invincible Lazy General: Clair O'Reilly

Clair offered a soft smile in return for the cheeky one she had so graciously been gifted, all the while assisting Aguar up and onto the back of her saddle. All be it with very little force considering Aguar's attempts to ease the weight Clair had to deal with. The two were soon seated firmly and securely on the back of the Kalisk and not a moment too soon for Reis almost immediately after called for the ragtag group to follow behind. Clair, in an effort not to knock Aguar from his awkward seating, motioned for her Kalisk to take off slowly. A light tap of the heel was all it took and after some manoeuvring both her and Aguar were moving at a moderate pace toward the back of the pack.

It was after a few minutes ride and after she was certain she understood her Kalisk that Clair spoke again, not offering the sailor a glance but instead an ear. "Why did I do it huh? I guess I'm not really sure. Money was my original priority. However, perhaps now it is instead intrigue that has lead me astray. Reis, if that's even his real name. He intrigues me, it's been a very long time since so many questions have been left unanswered in my head. He is not only the one who put them there but also the very man with the answers I seek. If helping you guys out not only secures me a fortune that will support my lazy way of life indefinitely but also get me the answers I seek then I see no reasons not too. Actually, that's a lie I see a lot of reasons not to but you get the point".

Clair would have continued talking were it not for the woman shouting up near the front of the pack. Clair hated pretty women and loud, condescending women were even more hated. So much so Clair naturally sucked her teeth and glared, hands trembling with a mixture of anger and distaste. If there was one thing Clair had to say she hated the most it was being told to shut up.

Lilia Ratort & Layla Tigasin

The sudden appearance of a fellow mage spooked both the apprentice mage and the feral girl. The two of them would look, and after listening to his suggestion, Lilia replies.

"But I do just that, and there is still no progress."

When the mage walked away, Maximylon spoke with such words of understanding. He admired Lilia's resolution and her dedication to Layla. Lilia would reply once more.

"Th-Thank you..."

Layla would notice that Lilia is holding back her emotions, not wanting to be a total cry baby in the group. Just then, coming from out of the tavern is the one called Katheryn. The two girls would tutn her attention to her, and when she spoke, they proceed to carry on.

Eve stared down at her robotic hand in reflection. "I don't remember what happened to my body before it was like this." She turned her head up to Veronica, who she noticed introduced herself several times already. "Veronica. Oz. Atlas. It's a pleasure to meet you all." Just then, Ryas signaled for the group to start moving. Eve felt her Kalisk start moving beneath her, thus beginning the search for the Keys to Dtrir.

EL AGUAR RIVIERA

On the road

Riding with Clair ( Uasal Uasal )

Aguar listened with intrigue as his new acquaintance shared her story with him. He marvelled at how similar to him she was - except for the money, she had reasons not too unfamiliar with his own. She seemed to be here because of curiosity, while he was here to delve into the unknown. Despite their very obvious differences - she was a woman of land and he was a man of the sea, for one, or perhaps their subtle contrasts in personality - they seemed to be two peas of a pod. At least, to Aguar. Perhaps others saw it in an alternative light.

"So, you're here for the unknown? To answer the great questions that plague your mind?" Aguar chuckled as he made his comparisons, visibly smiling to himself. However, without any real warning, his eyes shone bright red as if two crimson stars had made their way into his irises. Then, as quick it happened, they died down to their naturally unnatural shade of red. Of course, while no-one else would know, he was scouting her for magic. Not feeling any concentration of magic usually found in mages, nor did he see any weapon or technological augmentation (like some of the others in the party), he spoke back up in that unique accent of his. "So, mi señora, what special gems lurk within you? What talents do you possess, to attract the attention of these strange elves?"

Then something clicked as he travelled. The woman didn't actually seem to be wanting to pilot the Kalisk under them. "Oh, and when you want to change positions just tell me. I think I could guide this beast now that you've shown me the ropes." There was a little smirk in his face, although why he was smirking was a mystery all to itself.

Maximylon
Maximylon shook his head and mounted his kalisk as his cousin went about showing off her skills at riding. Rather than a potion's effects, he knew well enough this was her father's doing. Years of watching him bolster had done this to her, and it would not end lightly. She was a noble, and she intended to act like one. Even if it might be unbearable for him to watch, he hoped that her good mood would last for the night or, better, that she would casually stray from the anger she held for their caller the entirety of this request. He silently promised Iveda that he would do anything within his power to keep the two young girls safe and to begin practice with the sword again now that his mourning has passed, and hoped that, in return, she would guide Katheryn not on the path of malice but justice, where he knew she should be. For a moment, he thought of giving up musk ox for good measure... But then deemed the gesture too childish for the goddess, if not bad for his health.

Maximylon rode beside Lilia and Layla, still curious about their lives. "Miss Ratort, you traveled alone with your companion all this way? That is quite the feat for girls your age..."

Katheryn
How indescribably terrible had she felt before this? Sick to the pit of her stomach and completely overwhelmed by her own exhaustion, she would have given her crest for a bed at any moment. She had not noticed the birds singing or the flaming color of her kalisk's coarse hair. The sweeping horizon of Namzu's exotic skies were nothing like the north, nothing like the homeland she missed so deeply. Even as the ephemeral effects of the potion drifted away, she held fast to the happiness she was foreign to, wanting it to last her a lifetime. She silently promised Iveda she would think more of her mother in her prayers, should the goddess allow the feeling to coil inside her and linger for simply another second... But the flutter of wings interrupted her promise, catching her eye from across the field of riders.

The sheer appearance of the tiny man on the kalisk was enough to gain her curiosity, but the wings... Katheryn gripped her reins and masterfully beakoned her kalisk to a gallop, striding up beside the fairy with little trouble. "Hello, traveller," she began, her smile kind but her eyes expressing a darker intent. "You may address me as Lord Katheryn Vitunis. And how might I address you?"

gravmage.jpgAtlas of Dawn

"I don't actually have much affinity for magic. I'm more of a weapons expert, metal claws and short swords, that's all Veronica!"

If Atlas wasn't looking at her, he might have believed her. Her voice did not waver, and the sentence was spoken as if it had been practiced many times. If he wasn't paying attention, he would not have thought much of it. But as a sniper, Atlas had spent a long time watching people, sometimes he had to watch someone for hours before he could get the perfect window of opportunity. As a result, he'd learn to read people's reaction, whether if they were guarded or if they were relaxed. While it was extremely subtle, he saw a flicker of worry cross her eyes. He raised his brow quizzically, testing the truth of her words. But since they had just met, he decided to just let it go. There must be a reason as to why she was hiding what she was, plus, he didn't want to make her uncomfortable.

"I don't remember what happened to my body before it was like this."

Atlas nodded at Eve's reply and decided not to pursue the matter further. Seems like everyone has mysteries of their own. He turned back to Veronica, and chuckled at her inquiry as to whether he would catch her if she fell. " Sure, I'm good at quite a few things, and riding a Kalisk is one of them. So, Atlas of Dawn, self-proclaimed professional person-catcher at your service." He gave her an exaggerated bow and his signature crooked smile before straightening back up just as the group started to move.

Just then, they were approached by a relatively senior man.

"Atlas. What happened to that arm of yours, did the cookie-jar bite back?"

Atlas scoffed, " As if, old man." He gave the newcomer a smirk. " This is what happens when you get too cocky."

The man was slightly older than the rest of the group, but that also meant that he probably had more combat experience compared with the rest of them. For him to be part of the party, he must be a pretty formidable fighter, though he seemed to be slightly buzzed at the moment, judging from the light flush on his cheeks.

" Pleased to make your acquaintance," he shook Richter's hand curtly and noticed that Oz was now nibbling on a biscuit that Veronica was holding up to him.

As the group continued moving forward, Atlas took the chance to admire his surroundings. Atlas was used to the hot desert, with its sand and rocks and the occasional oasis. Greenery was rare in Kamut, save the few patches of grazing lands they had and the fields of crops. Other than that, there were no forests where he came from, and most of his jobs took place in towns, far away from nature, so the seemingly endless forest that stretched before him proved to be a rather enjoyable change of scenery.

Vilias was startled slightly by someone's voice, interrupting whatever thoughts he had at the moment. For the life of him, he couldn't remember what he was thinking about. As she introduced herself, Vilias couldn't help but be surprised - she had introduced herself as a lord, and looking at her, he didn't doubt that. Processing this information, he didn't say anything for a second or two, before he could speak properly again. "Hello, my name is Vilias Rileel, it is an honour to meet you." He gave Katheryn a respectful nod of his head, incapable of doing much more because he was riding Winter right now. She sounded nice, but even so, he couldn't help but feel like there was something about her. He kept his guard up slightly, his hand never going too far from the dagger, just in case.

He thought that he'd probably introduced himself reasonably well, but he wasn't sure how it'd end up going if he said much else. His eyes shone with curiosity about her reasons for being here, as well as her family, being that he'd never heard of it before. Maybe they were important? Had to be if she was a lord. He sighed to himself, knowing that he needed to work on his knowledge about people and society and...everything except the natural world really.

He thought it would probably be rude if he just didn't say anything else, but he just...didn't know how to act. 'Not going to find out without trying,' he thought to himself. Taking a deep breath, he asked politely, "If you don't mind me asking, why are you on this journey? I mean, everyone here probably has their own reasons, and I'd like to know yours." He thought to himself for a split second before saying quickly, "I mean, if you're ok with telling me of course!"

Was that good enough? Well, he'd said it now, so he'd just have to wait and see. He hoped so - she did seem nice, even if something felt off. He was probably just being paranoid, but you can't be too careful. He hoped she wouldn't notice, and he tried to show through body language that he wasn't going to make any hostile movements - he was just making sure he was prepared, is all. Looking at her, then at everyone else, he realised that he was almost certainly the smallest person here. Which wouldn't really be a surprise, being that he was a fairy, and slightly short even by their standards. Still though, he couldn't help but feel a little unnerved. Maybe that was why he was so wary of her. And most people, really. Ah well. Least he wasn't indoors anymore.

His wings still flapped gently, and his smile never left his face. Maybe he'd end up with a friend. Maybe not. But either way, he reckoned he'd know soon.

"Besides that. What land do you hail from atlas."

He sighs. A great big one. He doesn't quite u derstand why people call him old. He looks at the lush scenery. So full of green and tranquility. Maybe some parts of it may have never been touched by a living creature. He holds his hand out and a Small red butterfly lands on his index finger

Katheryn beamed. As if it could feel the peculiar atmosphere she was giving off, Apricot pulled against her control and she corrected the kalisk roughly, keeping it walking beside Vilias and his mount with a renewed discipline. She didn't look down on Vilias when she spoke, but a sharpness in her voice was unmistakable, and almost taunting. "Thank you and merrily met, good sir. My original intent was to conquer new lands under the Virtunis name, and erect a reign more powerful than my father and his father before him," she stated confidently, as if reciting from a script. "However, I have started to realize this odd tassel of company may not hold my same intentions... And have thus settled for a lesser degree of what I want most."

She pondered his movements for a moment, and her mother's voice pounded in her head, correcting each lick of inaccuracy in his riding. Each lightly tensed feature and hair out of place irritated her, but she shook off the bitter feelings, turning her gaze to the road ahead instead of using it to frighten a complete stranger.

With contained bemusement, she sighed and adjusted her posture, and the metal armor covering her wielding arm rattled with her movement. "I assume you would respect my decision to ignore your inquiry and dissuade you from questioning me, but I did not introduce myself to you without intending to tell you of my conquest. I would have you listen to my visions of divine rule all day, should you give me the opportunity to. That being said," Her voice lowered then, intrigued with the possibilities, "I visited you for many reasons, one being that I wish to know what you were promised."

Lilia Ratort & Layla Tigasin

They rode along the path. Lilia looks up at Layla and wondered how she was able to ride a Kalisk. To the feral girl, she knows how to ride one during her peaceful days at the forests of Ammit. Not only that, she also rode on ferocious ones. When Maximylon made a question, Lilia responds to this.

"Our household is within Namzu. When I received the letter, I was at the academy at that time. It is built on an island not far from Agon, and to get there, you would need to ride a special boat with magical properties as the academy is heavily surrounded with a magical barrier provided by Legendary-ranked mages. Its called...Hagwerts, a school for upcoming mages such as myself. My parents sent me there after reaching my teens. I was accompanied by bodyguards when I exited the academy, and then me and Layla alone when out of our household."

She then take a second to get a breather before asking a question to Maximylon.

"What about you and Katheryn? How did you get here?"

The Invincible Lazy General: Clair O'Reilly

'So, you're here for the unknown? To answer the great questions that plague your mind?'. Clair chuckled as Aguar finished his sentence, he was in no way wrong with his findings but despite this Clair felt that perhaps she was being given too much credit. He made her goal sound so much more noble, more important than it really was. His tone and accent only doing serving to bolster this effort. His laugh, however, put Clair at ease. Twas all in good fun.

As the group rode deeper and deeper into the forest Aguar spoke up again, this time asking what Clair assumed was inevitably going to be asked sooner or later. What was her skill, what had she done to draw attention to herself and just what could she offer the group? A soft sigh escaped her mouth as she thought on the matter, of course, she was under no illusion as to why she was summoned but did she really want to reveal why so soon? If she did then surely the others would rely on her and with that came responsibility and again came effort. She had already opted to teach Aguar how to ride a Kalisk and while it may be to doss later it sure as hell was more than enough for a days work. At least to Clair.

With that in mind, Clair shot Aguar a soft smile and responded with "I'm very good at chess". It was plain and simple, not a word of a lie. With this Clair turned back to face the road ahead and upon doing so not only stirred the kalisk away from a hazardous briar bush but also at the same time asked a question of her own and responded to one given as well."I can handle the beast a little further, we haven't far to go. So what about you? It's water magic, right? Powerful water magic at that."

EL AGUAR RIVIERA

On the road

Speaking with Clair ( Uasal Uasal )
He looked confused at the answer, but then something clicked in his mind. All the great strategists of the world were chess players - at least, the land based strategists. Seafaring tacticians were into liar's dice far more than chess. Probably far more than they should be, now that he thought about it. "Chess, you say? So, a strategist...hmm...I hope I'm more than a mere pawn in your eyes, mi reina...maybe a bishop or a rook." With a 'subtle' (spoilers - it wasn't subtle) wink followed by a cheeky laugh, emphasising his non-seriousness about it, he felt himself satisfied with the answer. If everyone here was a soldier, the party needed a general. Perhaps she was that general. Well, he thought, as long as she makes good orders, I'll follow them.

He sat, fairly uncomfortable - there was a very valid reason why most men didn't like to ride horses - on the Kalisk, as he pondered her second line of speech. "And, pray tell, how do you know about that? Perhaps you have heard of me before, no?" He was curious as to the how, though. If she was a sailor, or perhaps liked to hear tales of adventurers, then it would make sense to him; except, Clair did not seem like either of those. "But, yes. I am a water mage. And if I knew any better, I would say you were trying to flatter me." Speaking the last part with a little energy, borderline flirtatiously, he nudged her playfully on the back with his elbow.

To emphasis his point, he began gesturing with his hand as a small ball of water - maybe around the same size as an average cannonball - formed at his fingertips. This was no mere ball of water, though; it looked as if Aguar had condensed the angriest of stormy seas into a small sphere. Swirling and almost frothing as the ball span, it shuddered suddenly as Aguar threw it at a nearby tree. It smashed into the tree with a surprising amount of force, shattering the outer layer of bark with ease.

Vilias' smile faltered somewhat as she told him her own reasons for coming. Not because of her reasons - while he didn't particularly like her use of the word conquer, he supposed it WAS an honourable goal to live up to your family's name. No, it was because of how she said it, and her tone. He didn't approve of the way she seemed to think that she was above everyone else. He didn't bring it up though. If she truly thought that, he wouldn't try to change her mind. Yet, anyway.

He would be fine with learning more about what she specifically wanted though. He felt curious (as he usually did), and would like to know more. His smile returned, though he perhaps wasn't quite as cheery as he was before. He was somewhat concerned by what she'd said so far and imagined that the concern wouldn't get better the more he talked to her. His wings stopped flapping and his concern only grew as he thought about what she'd said and in the back of his mind, he considered the best way to get away from her should the need arise.

Feeling that it would be rude not to answer her, he wondered how best to do so. He thought for a moment before responding, "I felt like I had to. I mean, being part of the group that not only found the Rift, but Dtrir itself?" He had to pause for a moment in wonder before continuing. "It'd be...well...amazing doesnt even BEGIN to cover it. I...felt like I had to. I can't really put it into words to tell you the truth."

He decided to ignore what sounded like water smashing against an object and a tree exploding.

Maximylon
Maximylon chuckled, having much more fun than he was accustomed to while listening to the young Ratort’s tale. He let Cabbage follow the troupe, glad he didn’t have to control it like he would a cold blood, or groom it like one, and they could eat as much musk ox as they wanted together. He felt like something was missing from this journey, like he forgot about something important and valuable… But just before he could place it, Lilia questioned him again.

“Lord Katheryn and I rode from Cape Lostpoint, located just beyond the summits of Sadu and a tad northward, beside the sea.” He made a pained expression, recalling the intense journey. How they had managed such a long and nefarious distance in two weeks he would never know, but his mourning had not guided them all that way. “It was Lord Katheryn’s resoluteness that got us here. She is a true paladin of Iveda in some ways, and more like her father in others,” he explained with a brotherly fondness. “I am glad to hear you did not need to travel such a perilous distance as we. However, I do not believe I recall enough information about the school of Hagwerts to get a clear picture of it. It is on an island?”

And like punctuation, the water cannonball crashed against a tree as he finished his inquiry. He glanced toward the noise, but expected a far bigger uproar from the caravan if there was any real invasion so early in the journey. Maximylon had a feeling some of these characters would jump at the opportunity to crusade when that time came.

Katheryn
She visibly perked up at the mention of Dtrir and the rift, her head tilting to listen more closely to his words but before she could question him, the water cannonball’s hit startled her, and she immediately turned toward the sound of impact. Apricot continued on the path, seeming as unmotivated by the noise as Vilias, and it took Katheryn a moment before she realized she overstated her reaction and could regain her composure. Her jaw clenched, she followed the path it flew from to the… Human that tossed it, and shook the battle from her posture with a deep sigh.

“Pardon me; did you say you felt an obligation?” Her voice maintained its old charismatic tone, but lost a good bit of its arrogance for chagrin. “You understand they locked themselves away, do you not? You came-” she cut herself off, turning to him with a wash of awareness overcoming her features. “I was not aware we were searching for Dtrir’s keys when I accepted this quest,” she began again, her curiosity glittering in her eyes. “You were told of Dtrir in your letter?”

The Floating Valley, Agon | 1:25pm | Valley Entrance

Three days passed, slow for some but incredibly quick for others. Aside from a few fights breaking out and some disagreements between the Kalisks, everybody had made it in one piece. Kalisks were a smooth ride, one of the reasons why they were so expensive, but a few were bound to have aching bottoms by now - especially those that doubled up on the Kalisks. At some point along the ride, Reis had disappeared - it was uncertain when, but most could agree that he was most certainly there on the first day of travel but by the third there was no trace of him. That had left Ryas to lead the group and the small elf had done so cheerfully; if the others were as cheerful about having the child-like elf lead them was to be discovered, but so far he hadn't had much trouble keeping them in line. Smiling gleefully at anybody who had come up to him, Ryas did seem to have a clear grasp on the proceedings and had apparently expected Reis to disappear at some point along the journey. However, anybody who asked him about it were responded to with a smile and a, "don't worry about it! I told you I was going to be your guide, didn't I?"

For the first time since the start of the journey, Ryas slowed down the pace of his Kalisk whom he had affectionately named Bobby. Standing up in the saddle of his beast, Ryas waved his arms wildly at the rest of the group. "Attention!" He cried in his high-pitched voice accompanied by his trademark wide smile. Up ahead the Floating Valley could be seen stretching into the sky for miles. At first the stretches of land were quite large, but as one looked up higher the pieces of land seemed to get smaller and smaller. The top was concealed by heavy cloud cover, but from the ground there seemed to be no end to the floating islands. "We have reached the floating valley!" Ryas was proclaiming, pointing up at the floating islands. "So far, the journey has been tame. However, you must all now prepare for battle. Just in case you forgot, the dangers we face here are falling and unknown monsters." It was clear Ryas was lacking in the motivational speech department.

"Try to stay together as much as possible: our main advantage is our numbers. Our destination is at the very top of the islands, and the only way to get there is to climb! The Kalisks will have to stay here at the base because once we get high enough the islands will be too small to ride them over. Let's go!" Ryas instructed, jumping off his Kalisk and patting it affectionately before beginning to lead the way up the floating steps. The elf was carefree in his movements, but for the first time he had swung his sword over his back. He had even left his large, bouncy hat with his Kalisk and his blue hair could be fully seen for the first time. Turning to make sure that the group was following him, Ryas smiled brightly, but as he turned away from the others his smile fell into a grim expression. He didn't want to be leading these people to their deaths, but if they didn't live up to Reis' expectations they may very well perish here.

Richter dismounts Grimfaang. His Ass is sore from the trip. As he touches solid ground he staggers for a bit. His legs a bit wobbly. If you were close you would here a few bones Pop.
"Damn. I need to take a piss"
He sighs. He can hold for now. Not like he has the bladder of a three year old orc. He turns to his Beloved Kasilisk.
"Hey bud, don't you worry I'll be back. I promise."
He pats the Kasilisk on the head. The animal groans. He isn't a fan of the fact Richter is going withought him. He fixes the sword on his back. Along with the various other weapons he has. He takes his backpack from Grimfaang. He walks in formation to the group. He is in the front of the b
Pack conversing with Ryas. Wooing Atlas can wait
"I'm assuming we are leaving the animals here Ryas. I would like to keep that Kasilisk I was ridding. Me and that beast go way back."
He Pulls a pouch of what seems to be Tobbacco. He pulls a Pipe out and smokes it. The smoke doesn't seem to be Harmfull. Heck it smells kind of nice, a nice cinnamon smell with a dash of what seems to be pine.
"Want a puff."
He holds out the pipe. The wood seems to be made from an elven type.

Lilia Ratort & Layla Tigasin

It may seem that the girls are having fun with their conversation from such an interesting man. Both of them took a liking for him. When Maximylon asked, Lilia answers him.

"Yes, it is on an island, and it is a very big facility at that."

Their conversation would take long, but after three days, they have made it to their destination. The girls were in awe by the stunnih beauty of the floatong islands, but were also curious as to where have Reis went. Layla settles her Kalisk, which she named it "Friend", and then she and Lilia gets off before giving their moint and gentle pat to the head. Knowing the dangers that lied ahead, Lilia felt a kind of nervousness and Layla didn't much care. The two would follow Ryas, with Lilia behind Layla and have her hands placed on her shoulders.

For the whole duration of the journey to the Floating Valley, the two mercenaries of Du'Rym had mostly kept to themselves, traveling behind the ground for the most part. Delastarh had found a way to hold onto his Kalisk with only his thigh and start sketching their surrounding in his journal. It was just a relaxing hobby to draw new things they saw. In his journal, there were many drawing of Du'Rym. A large valley with a floating city in the clouds, high mountains that seemed to radiate their own freezing light in form of aurora borealis, many drawings of his partner and his childhood friend that would always butt head with Delastarh for his attention, but the blond man had to admit she was a pretty art model. As for Metaralis, he had spent most of the journey keeping an eye around for the group and listening to the others without joining the conversation. It helped him to grasp better about this nation and their new partners.

Ryas didn't even need to announce their arrival, the Floating Valley could be seen from pretty far away in all its impressiveness. Good thing, because the ride was starting to make their back hurt pretty badly. Both the mercenary jumped down their ride, stretching every part of themselves they could.

Delastarh looked up to the higher floating bits of land they could see and whistled. "That's what you call a floating land, alright. Seems like we are not even in the same world."

They picked up their equipment, and since they were traveling light they didn't need to leave anything down here. Metaralis had tied to his belt what looked like a weird hilt of a sword without any blade on it and multiple cylinders of glowy crystals on the other side. For Delastarh, he had two red pistols and as many cylinders, though smaller than Metaralis', tied to the back of his belt, hidden by his long red coat. Despite looking pretty thin and light, the armor top they wore under their vest and coat were made of a very resistant material that could protect them, and they boots would protect their legs easily too. They were ready to fight if they needed to. Which they probably would.

"We're ready," Metaralis announced to the rest of the group, but mostly to Ryas.

Fen
The view was striking. Fragments of rock floating in the air independently on different heights and forming a natural staircase to whatever was hidden on the top of it. Fen was gaping at this marvel of nature with shinning eyes, already imagining how fun it would be to climb this construct.

“Attention!” The Ryas’s voice pulled nymph out of his thoughts. The young elf quickly summarised their situation and reminded them of dangers waiting ahead. He seemed very cheerful, but Fen’s eyes didn’t get pass the sword he had hung on his back, or the grim expression that appeared on his face as Ryas turned away from the group.

“Don’t worry too much,” Fen said to the elf happily, trying to distract him from his dark thoughts. “They don’t look like if a little climb could best them, even with some added monsters.”

He knew he was probably exaggerating a little bit, but a little bit optimism couldn’t hurt them, could it? The nymph moved his hands and drew water from his bag with magic. As he went through a short routine, water tendrils wrapped his arms and legs, forming a sort of net covering his clothes.

“I’ll go ahead and check if the first few ledges are safe,” the nymph jumped ahead, floating in the air until he landed on the first rock. He then looked around for potential threats and turned back to group to help those who would have more problems with traversing heights.

The Invincible Lazy General: Clair O'Reilly

Clair continued to focus on the path despite being somewhat sour over the fact that Aguar had managed to discover she was a tactician. To be fair it was rather easy to discover, her military uniform, underwhelming physical might and her comment on chess providing anyone with more than enough of a hint. Alas Clair was still sour, she knew Aguar was no idiot but at the same time she had at least hoped to lead him on a bit before he discovered her role. None the less his discovery was nothing more than a slight inconvenience so long as the rest of the party were left in the dark, Clair could still hope to do as little as possible.

Clair paid no mind to Aguar's comment on chess pieces nor did she to his smile, no something far more serious had taken her attention by storm. Something that had managed to send a shiver down her spine and cause a bead of sweat to form on her brow. Rias had vanished. Clair had been watching him the entire time, he was always within her vision but within just an instant he had vanished. Turning quickly to gaze at the path behind her Clair's eyes began to expand in shock. No claw nor paw prints were left in the ground where Rias would have or should have been riding. He truly had vanished.

Clair remained in this state of shock, running calculations in her mind as to how, where and why Rias had vanished until she heard Aguar speak again. This time he inquired as to how Clair knew he was a water mage and if she had heard tales of him before. After a few seconds of refocusing Clair let out a soft sigh and begun "I can't say I've heard tales of you sorry but i'm quite sure there must be quite a few in circulation. As for how i knew you were a water mage, well you'll find it's more than obvious. I mean firstly you're chances of being a mage were quite high to begin with approximately ninety percent if i'm not wrong about you being half human and elf. With elves being very finicky about their religion and gods and all that I'd throw you into the nature tree as a result of your skin tone. No racism intended simply statistics mind you. After that it's easy, I mean your a sailor. Elemental magic would provide you with the largest benefit and with that flashy sword at your side I'd say your more than beneficial to any crew despite being rather slim in build. And well with an abundance of water.... you get the point. Of course i could be completely wrong with assuming your half elf but well... not many races have ears like those. ".

With Aguar going on to explain he was in fact a water mage Clair smiled happily to herself and soon the two came to a stop along side the remainder of the group. Dismounting almost immediately, seemingly unfazed by the sight before her. Clair offered her hand to assist Aguar.

On the journey, Richter had approached them and though initially everything seemed alright, she noticed him look very insecure for just a second. What does he know? She thought, she even caught the flicker of his eyes to a different colour. Red. Blood red. She decided to keep quiet. She simply gave Atlas a laugh at his joke and Richter a quick smile and introduction before getting her sketch book out to draw Oz as he was busy with the buscuit. At some point she’d go and talk to this Richter. Preferably when they were alone.

~
Before she knew it they had arrived at the Floating Valley. Veronica was eternally grateful that she didn’t fall off the Kalisk for the entirety of the journey. Though Atlas had gave her his word, smile and bow that he would catch her, she still felt like it’d make her look like even more of a mess than she had already shown if she fell. The view of the valley was breathtaking, gravity magic wasn’t something she saw often, and never to this scale. She began to draw a quick outline of the island, planning to fill it in once they had more time.

"Try to stay together as much as possible: our main advantage is our numbers. Our destination is at the very top of the islands, and the only way to get there is to climb! The Kalisks will have to stay here at the base because once we get high enough the islands will be too small to ride them over. Let's go!" Veronica heard this and almost immediately after, she watched Richter go ahead of her onto the stairs. It was unlikely she would be able to get him alone here so she decided to wait till later. “You all excited to see some new monsters? In a place as, well, floaty and magical as this I’ll bet we’ll see some impressive things.” She said to the two she had been travelling with as she dismounted her juvenile Kalisk, thanking it for its help with a biscuit. She then proceeded to take her sword out and leave her the hilt sticking out of her bag just in case she would need to draw it quickly.

“Well, we’ve been together this whole time, might as well stick together now.” She said to Atlas and Eve hoping they’d agree, “and if you’re worried about being so high up Atlas- I have some news for you: don’t worry about being so high. Believe it or not I’m pretty acrobatic and Eve can fly, so if you fall, so we’ll catch you this time.” She said to Atlas wondering if they would actually be able to catch him. She then waited at their Kalisks for the two of them to get ready, then they’d begin the probably eventful walk up together.
