Name: Caden
Sign: Pisces
Age: 22
Appearance: Caden is 5'11, and lean. He weighs a tiny 174 lbs, and would not be considered a heavy weight champion. What he lacks in physical strength, though, he makes up for in speed, agility and precision. He wears thin threaded clothing, and a white cloak/tunic, overlaid with a leather harness/vest. The tunic is trimmed with blue, and around his waste is a blood red sash. His skin is tan and fair, and covered around his shoulders chest and back with tattoos. He had a light beard, barley an inch long, trailing his jaw and around his chin. His hair is long, normally tied back into a braid, but lazily ignoring the brown and white streaked locks that rolled backwards. His face was fair and clean, with a long scar extending from the tip of his hair line, down through his right eyebrow, and stopping right before it his his right jaw. His eyes were a faded sea green, that always looked wistfully under his perfect smolder. his upper torso is covered in tattoos of various things, gathered from different ports around the world.

upload_2017-10-10_22-58-49.png

Querks (Likes, dislikes, habits, hobbies): Caden is a sailor, a child of the sea. He spends all his time on a boat, or wishing hopelessly to return to one. Almost anytime he can be in the water, you will find him there. He is well trained with hooks of all kinds: Fishing hooks, grappling hooks - his weapons of choice are a pair of razor sharp hook blades. He spent his life mastering the rare weapons form, making him incredibly deadly in a fight. He is somewhat of a dreamer, however, and incredibly lazy when assigned tasks he has no interest in. Many of the people on pisces island dislike Caden because of his tendency to avoid his responsibilities. Unlike the fast majority of the pisces, Caden has no natural healing abilities, or connection to the spirits. He can however, read minds, speak telepathically, and even plant minor suggestions in the minds of others. He is also a gifted water bender, though he lacks a lot of discipline. One of his greatest fears is falling, and heights. He is also terrified of tight spaces and commitment.
Back story: Caden was the son of pisces woman and an Aries man. Caden's mother works a tavern on the docks of Pisces island. Before he was born, a ferocious and suave Aries sea captain docked at the marina, and caught the heart of his mother, making love to her and leaving her with child. Caden grew up never knowing his father, but his blood coursed powerfully through his veins none the less. He quickly took to fighting, never really getting along well with the other, very sensitive kids on the islands. While they studied scrolls and the mystic arts, Caden spent hours honing his skill with his hook blades under the docks and reading the minds of the sailors who passed over head. As he grew, the entire island seemed to despise him. Nasty rumors floated around, and no one wanted to be near him, not that it ever bothered him. His mother, however, fretted day and night over the safety of her boy, who seemed to wistful, like his father. She no doubt feared that he would leave one day, and she would be alone.
Now, with the 92 Island tournament approaching, the Pisces island had to choose a champion. And one of the sages begins to put his plans into motion, traveling to visit this hell raising sailor boy.
(If you are the first to post for a sign) What your island is like: The pisces people live on a relatively small, tropical island. The waters are clear, and the fish are as vibrant and colorful as the flowers that grew in the tall grasses of the bluffs. The people live very passively, accepting all visitors, and sending out their renowned healers to help the sick people of the world. They are governed by a council of three elder sages, ancient pisces people who can commune with the gods of the sea, and decipher their wishes. The pisces people have many festivals, grow many exotic foods, and also live in harmony with the fish people: There are many types of these people, half man and half sea creature of some kind. Although the pisces people are incredibly kind, the fish people are considered to be lower class people, though the discrimination is very hushed and subtle.

Name: Ivy

Sign: Aquarius

Age: 32

Appearance: Ivy stands at 5'5" and possesses a wiry frame. While not very strong, Ivy possesses a quick wit when focused. Her teal eyes hold a distant gaze, Ivy being quite absent-minded. Ivy, commonly mistaken for lacking a sense of style, parading around donning strange clothes or accessories. Normally, however, Ivy wears her travelling clothes, rarely changing out of them unless she's taking a break or it's a special occasion. She wears a white loose shirt, dark brown breeches, and knee-high leather boots. Over the top is a sleeveless coat and a belt around her waist where her satchel of tools hang from (a spyglass, compass, journal, and other basic navigation tools).

Querks (Likes, dislikes, habits, hobbies): Ivy dislikes staying in one place for so long and tends to travel often, usually for fieldwork for a few humanitarian programs she takes part in. Instead of having a house on the island, Ivy owns a small boat which acts as her own little floating home. It's common for Aquarians to travel a lot, thus the island being quiet and lacking much buildings. Although Ivy is a compassionate person, she has a habit of being stubborn and unchanging in her opinions. She's temperamental when disagreed with.

Back story:

What your island is like: The island sits a ways away from the rest of the other islands. It's is a decent size and very mountainous. Majority of the flat land is used for farming, Aquarian 'settlers' taking refuge in homes built into the mountains or at the harbour. Their architecture heavily relies on stone and the mountains, buildings carved into the rock with air bending. 'Nomads' are the Aquarians that don't have a home and are frequent travellers. 'Settlers' are what Aquarians call those who choose to stay on the island. The Aquarius islanders pride themselves on being the 'Servants of Humanity', always improving their way of life and sharing their knowledge with others. They often visit other islands whenever possible to explore, share and gain new ideas or to assist in disasters. It has a Mediterranean climate and is bountiful despite the mountainous appearance. Aquarians are big humanitarians, they always give a hand whenever an island needs it.

(Disclaimer: not mine)

Name:

Neriya Voda

Sign:
Pisces

Age:
20

Querks:

Neriya is a restless girl. She needs to be doing something, be it tapping her foot, humming, biting her nails or whatever action that has a part of her body in motion. Otherwise, if nothing is keeping her entertained, she can and will fall asleep.

On another note, as a typical pisces, Neriya naturally loves the water more than anything. She loves the cool water encasing her body. The way it flowed with the current. However, she doesn't know how to swim. Quite a contrary to her Pisces lineage, she cannot swim at will. At certain times she has shown the ability to float when in danger, but in no such situation has she been able to float at will. Ironic actually. While water remains her #1, Neriya can't resist food, given that she's craving them. She's quite the picky eater, liking one thing this day, disliking it on the next. She's sometimes called a glutton and is usually scolded for such "animalistic" actions.

As for dislikes, she absolutely abhors pressure, even with little things. She likes doing things on her own pace, not too fast not too slow. Too much pressure causes her to do poorly. She also dislikes the heat. She hates how sticky it makes her feel, how it makes her feel like she's getting cooked. On a much deeper note, Neriya despises ignorance as it, in her own words, "makes her feel weak, defenseless, and ultimately vulnerable".

Neriya's abilities are quite the puzzle. She barely has any control over water. Water breathing to her is limited to 6 hours, while other Pisces can go all day long. She does, however, the ability to scry, be telepathic and read minds and even have a little suggestive power (Which she rarely uses anyway). She also has healing powers, allowing her physical body to heal minor cuts and bruises and (with focus and pain) also can heal injuries to a certain extent. She can also channel this outwardly to heal others, but it is much more limited. Another noteworthy ability is her hand-to-hand combat. Neriya is very well trained in that area of expertise, being able to hold her ground and compete with the island's strongest warriors, as well as a few visitors from other islands. The contrast of her sword handling and archery skills are quite strong. Perhaps one of her more weak areas, Neriya's archery skills are horrible. Out of ten shots less than half was able to get on the target, let alone the center. Whilst archery is more of her weak spot, Neriya is a good swordsman. She prefers to use a short curved sword.

Back story:
Farlyn Gretch was a pisces who fell in love with the devilishly charming gemini Marcus Peyten who won the tournament the previous year. However, after months of getting to know each other and eventually making love, Marcus left without consulting Farlyn due to the fact that if he did not, enemies he gained during the tournament would surely catch on. The heartbroken Farlyn gave birth to Neriya. Before Neriya was old enough to remember anything concrete, Farlyn married another pisces, Vexer Voda, who had a 9 year old son Gabryel and an 8 year old daughter Titanya. A little while later, Farlyn gave birth to the youngest Theo. From then on, Neriya led a fairly normal life. As Neriya grew, so did the expectations for her. The talent she'd shown caught the eyes of everyone, and as pleasing as it sounds, it wasn't. Neriya felt very pressured and trapped. The eyes of everyone judged every mistake she'd make. Being the people pleaser that she was, Neriya met their expectations. However, it came with a price. As a Pisces, it is almost a necessity to be able to express your feelings one way or another. Neriya wasn't able to do that. She had to keep up a mask, act happy, when inside, she was breaking apart. She became so vulnerable to everyone, until one day, she decided to stop it, to stop her inner torment. So she bottled it all up and closed the lid so tight that when she tried to open it, it wouldn't budge. Then it set a chain reaction. As Neriya forgot to express her emotions, she slowly lost her ability to be telepathic. As a Pisces, she needs to be deeply in tune with her feelings, but as she slowly had to build a wall, she also locked out those abilities. She is still, however, able to heal naturally and scry. For Neriya, in spite of her numibing insides, life went on. She became more well known, friends with almost everyone, even the fishes.

Darius Edengard

Sign:
Aries

Age:
21

Appearance:
Darius stands at 6'2 with a broad frame and muscular build. His hair is snow-white, and he has wolf-like tattoos decorating his shoulders and stretching towards the middle of his chest. His strength is worthy of praise, his temper best avoided. His clothing would be best explained through spoilers and pictures:

95ea065db8f55ad11d05e76cba3a57fe.jpg
bfe838893cc96dcf35d1cc995f357633.jpg

Quirks (Likes, dislikes, habits, hobbies):
Darius is a force to be reckoned with.

Being an Aries, Darius is an impatient, short-tempered lad who acts on his impulses first then asks questions later. He's impulsive and fiery, passionate in what he believes in. Darius is arrogant and confident, traits that make him seemingly unafraid to almost any danger and risk. He has a charming yet cocky persona and can come off as rude and distasteful. He's definitely strong-willed and extremely stubborn, and his temper can rage as fiercely as any wildfire. However, one attractive trait is his undying loyalty and his drive to never give up. He fights relentlessly and passionately for what he believes in, right to the very end. He isn't afraid to speak his mind and has trouble hiding his emotions. He prefers action and loves to work out, sweat it out. He tends to show off, maybe throw out a wisecrack or two and hates to lose. He isn't very fond of the Pisces, thinking they are weak and soft-hearted, (has a bit of a grudge since a Pisces failed to heal his father who died of an illness} while Leos, he thinks of as worthy adversaries. Darius believes in a fair fight, and absolutely despises whiners, lazy assholes, cowards, and cheaters.

Backstory:

Darius comes from a long line of warriors---winners of the Islands' annual tournament that has lasted for roughly about fifteen years. His family was a respected one among the Aries Island, famous for their ability to breed exceptional warriors and winners of tournament. His family is also a rich one---founders of many battle-oriented programs designed to train defenders and future contestants of the tournament. They fund many armory workshops, weaponry workshops and power-related programs conceived to let youths harness their abilities.
Yet Darius's family is also a highly strict one. Any member who had failed to do well in the tournament is an ultimate disgrace---just as Darius's father had been. Reed Edenguard had participated in the 80th tournament twelve years ago---he had done so terribly that the Aryans lost their place as head counsel for that year, and hadn't gained it until eight years later. Humiliated and shamed, the Edenguard family cast Reed out along with his wife and their nine-year-old son, cutting them off. Reed died of a terrible bout of sickness a year later. after a Pisces failed to heal him properly.

So now, it was only Darius and his mother, Tabitha, living a rather poor life. Tabitha vowed to make sure her son never gets influenced by her husband's family's twisted ideology, where success is everything and family, failure, means nothing. She tried her best, but the Edenguards seemed to be everywhere---they controlled almost every program, workshop, and their name was praised by others every day for bringing glory and success to the Aries Island. And the more Darius grew, the more Tabitha realized how much of a gift her son had with wielding his powers. It was also noticed by the Edenguard family, who, despite their unforgivable action of throwing Reed away, took his son under their wing and let him train in their programs for free, seeing that he had potential to become a successful warrior and winner. They promised him that if he succeeded in winning the tournament one day, he and his mother could be accepted back into the Edenguard family and be restored to their former glory and honor.
Darius heartily agreed.
And so, he trained and traned and trained. Harnessed his skills and was a natural at what he did, despite his father's failures. He made his family proud and was quickly becoming a household name. Everyone was agreed that Darius, son of Reed, should be the one balloted in to participate into the tournament. Darius knew he couldn't fail his family, nor his mother---he wanted to become exactly what his father failed to be---a warrior and a winner.

Aries Island:

The island is rather big, with an abundant jungle forest and it's divided into sectors, mainly two---one for the higher class, and one for the lower. The lower class live in dirt houses, with poorly made roads and surrounded by primitive nature, in one big, big village. The village sits snug at the base of a sizable volcano, dormant for many centuries now. The higher class live higher up, classier homes and have better services. The island is run by its own sort of hierarchy, with the aristocrats in charge and the lower class swimming in poverty. Even though both offer challenges of survival, the way of surviving aristocracy is definitely the more interesting one. The nobles have a strict code, where success will bring satisfaction, and failure will guarantee a fall from grace. Strength is everything, weakness is nothing. The Aryans value glory and fame, their focus is breeding fighters, not followers.
The aristocracy does have a way to contain the naturally rebellious lower class---they harness that rebellion and direct it at the tournaments, at the other Islands instead of them. The poor need someone to blame, something to glorify. The higherups give them exactly what they want---other Islands to hate, the tournament to glorify to avoid rebellion. It may seem a harsh way of life, but it's their way of life.

Anthea Hazeldine

She had a very inconvenient heart. It always insisted on feeling things ever so deeply.
John Mark Green

590ecd2348f540efb2d5ba2bc3e757f6.jpg

sign:
taurus (earth)

age:
22

quirks:
As far as Tauren women go, Anthea is very skilled at holding onto her emotions. She is emotionally strong, and generally very sweet natured. But be careful, pull the wrong strings, and Anthea can pull out a temper as fierce as any Aryan. Anthea is very caring and gentle, especially with nature given her Earth element. True to her Bull symbol, Anthea can be stubborn as hell, having some very firm opinions on certain things that cannot be changed. Anthea values security, honesty and doesn't cope very well with change. She isn't the adventurous type and prefers to stick to the routine. Her best qualities are her serenity, patience, and composed attitude. It's a good thing Anthea knows how to rein her emotions because she is very emotional. Her soul goes in very deep, and she values connections more than anything else in any kind of relationship. Break her trust and you lose her forever.

backstory:

Life in Tauren Archipelago was actually quite peaceful. It goes on at a steady pace, with little to no changes. Everything and everyone follows a certain routine. The inhabitants are usually divided into small farming villages, where each has their own leader, often called supervisors. Anthea was no different---she too, lived in such a village and she too followed a specific routine. Life was boring at best, but that's how everything was, and how it will ever be.

Now, Anthea wasn't like any other ordinary farm girl. Her father was a supervisor, the head of a fairly sizable village, which meant that someday, she would take her father's place as chief of the village. It was her destiny, the predictable thing to do. Her father was adamant that she took his place, especially when she was his only child---his wife had died while giving birth to Anthea and the man refused to marry someone else.
So, Anthea lived with an only parent, a father who was extremely strict but loving as well. And her life went on as normal. For the most part.
Anthea grew up to realize that she didn't want to become chief of her village. She grew up to desire something else, something that would add a bit of pizzazz to the mix, something like an adventure. She would often skip her farming duties and head off into the woods somewhere, seeking adventure. And along the way, she made friends with a certain Aries, the son of a merchant who was staying over at the Archipelago to propose a business deal with her father, a deal that would introduce battle and training programs into Tauren society.
She and the Aries, who's name was August, became friends on the spot. Like her, August craved adventure, and as he was evidently an Aries, he was endlessly optimistic, charming and a bit egotistic. He encouraged Anthea to follow her heart wherever it led, despite her father's wishes.

They spent three, blissful years together in friendship, right up until the fourth year, where feelings began to form. Anthea began to fall in love with August. After three long years of friendship, Anthea felt a connection with August---her heart completely took over and she was fully convinced that she and August were meant to be, despite her father completely disapproving of the relationship. Taurens and Aryans did not mix---especially when Aryans were unpredictable, passionate lovers, free spirits. They did not know how to fully keep an honest relationship, because they were different. Her father had tried to warn her, but Anthea was too blinded to see that everything her father said was true, especially with August.

August and Anthea announced their love for each other, just after Anthea turned eighteen. Anthea was so happy---she set straight to work on building a stable relationship, building a carefully organized life, just as Taurens would. Yet Anthea, being so blinded by bliss, was completely ignorant of the signs, the signs of August's betrayal.
When Anthea turned nineteen, she had the awesome opportunity to travel all across the Archipelago and act as ambassador for her town since her father had fallen ill. Of course, it hurt to separate from August and her father for almost an entire year, but overall, it made her happy, thinking about all the kinds of stories she'd tell them when she came back.

Unfortunately, Anthea came back to a mourning town, grieving the loss of her father's death. This came as a complete shock to Anthea. Broken, she sought the comfort of her beloved August, only to find out that he had left her, returning back to the Aries Island, leaving only tragic stories told by the locals of how he had slept around with other women while she was gone.
"It's no surprise, really," they told her. "He's an Aries---a wild, unpredictable thing. If they get too bored, they move on."
Those were the exact word Anthea's father had told her before he had died.
Heartbroken and grieving, Anthea shut herself out from the entire world, falling into a deep pit of despair. It was only a few months later, when a well-meaning friend had introduced her to the training and battle programs August and his father had left behind, that were still in business even after her father's death.
"It would help with the coping," her friend had told her. "Help let all the anger and bitterness out."

And so, Anthea listened, entering into the program and true to her word, the friend was right. Fighting had helped with the grief and the anguish, and soon, Anthea was balloted in for the tournament, planning to win and to exact some long-deserved revenge on the Aryans.

what your island is like:

The terrain in Taurus Island is mountainous in some parts and flat in others. Taurens are very connected to nature and are often grouped in small farming villages. In some parts, it could be dry and in others, rainy, but overall, the climate is very agreeable and perfect for agriculture. Much like the Pisces Island, the Taurens are very peaceful, but when provoked, they can fight as fiercely as any bull.

Much like the Pisces Island, the Taurens are very peaceful, but when provoked, they can fight as fiercely as any bull.
