The Good Ship (Flighter and Oit)

"You're more of a nice person than I thought. After all that you've gone through." After all that he'd gone through. She had no idea that she was poking at his thoughts, it was just something that she was reminded off. He killed his friend, right? He should be distressed. Chrysaorus chuckled. She was doing a great job with the man. "Just look at that smile. By Kolliah, you remind me of my dear citizens..."

Chrysaorus pushed herself off of the front door and staggered inside. "Ah, sorry..." She said, almost toppling over a pile of gloves. She finally got in complete viewing range of Todd, and she smiled with a slight tilt of her head. "What do you mean by dorky? Am I supposed to know what that means? Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that it looks nice on you. "

Chrysaorus glanced a little at herself. Her vision blurred, and she squinted with her differently-colored eyes just a little. "I'm fine... It is not an easy task to contact Her."

Todd would have helped her onto the chair, but he didn't know the customs and rules of this place. For all he knew, touching the queen in any way could mean a nice little public execution, with him as the main attraction. Well, at least it turned out that he wasn't wearing some kind of clown get-up. Todd still had his pride intact. A compliment from the queen, eh? Surely that meant something. Even if Chrysaorus looked woozy and out-of-it.

To contact "her" though. To contact their goddess, she meant? Todd figured something like that would take a lot of effort -- And she did that all for the guards and servants that he mercilessly slaughtered. Queen Chrysaorus certainly seemed like a caring and selfless leader -- Certainly better than the likes of Occulta, in that sense.

Still, Todd was certain that it would have been better if those guards had killed him. If Chrysaorus had killed him. If he died in any way. His outwards appearance meant nothing. His happiness only temporary. The more he thought of the pain and death he caused, the more Todd wanted to die right then and there. It was certainly more trouble keeping him around than it was worth. Sure, he could make himself useful, but he's just one man. One man versus the many he tore apart last night.

Todd attempted to focus his thoughts on Chrysaorus.

"Er, maybe you should rest or something." He suggested to her.

((My mind is wondering...

It's taking this way too far. With other main characters and an actual plot! Oh man mind oh man))

"B-But! I just woke up, I'm practically fine... I have to confront the citizens first but-- Ugh!" Chrysaorus fell ontop of a pile of clothes, nearly banging her head on the table. Drianne gasped and ran to Chrysaorus' aid. " It's never gotten this terrible before! " Drianne frowned, pushing aside the hairs on her forehead and placing her palm on it. "...Chry?"

"...Maybe I should rest... But then my citizens will worry... If they know of my absence, then there would be crime! ...No..." Chrysaorus mumbled. She really didn't want to rest, but...

Todd half-attempted to catch Chrysaorus, again unable to do a thing because he was still so unsure about the laws of this place. So really, he was stuck reaching out, then curled his fingers into fists and stood upright. She was still far more worried about her citizens than herself. Todd found that quite admirable.

"Uh, h-hey --" He still didn't know how to address the queen, so he chose not to. Not directly, anyway, "If you're so worried about the crime rate, maybe I can make myself useful and clear the streets of any issues?" He offered, then cleared his throat. He had to sound professional. As cheesy as it was, he put his right fist over his heart in a form of salute.

"I'm a bit like a soldier, myself. I have experience with low-lifes. If you'd let me, I can help you rest with ease."

"You're... Willing to help...?" Chrysaorus looked up at him, completely surprised. Her eyebrows quivered for a good three seconds, before she put a sleeved hand to her face. "I'm so flattered... And flustered... That would be just wonderful..." Even if she did have guards, she was sure none of them would have been capable to stopping the crime in Escherisa.

"If you have my word, then please watch over the citizens. Make sure they are not in doubt, and any ruffians will be brought here immediately for judgement! If you can do that, I will be happy..."

"Sure, sure, it's no problem - uh - 'you're majesty'." Todd replied, rubbing the back of his neck. It felt good to do, well, good. A fantastic distraction, that was it. And a way to take out his anger on others. Those others, being criminals of course. The thought of beating up criminals like some kind of superhero almost made him smile again. Almost.

"I'll just need a sword and I can be on my way." He told Chrysaorus.

Chrysaorus nodded. With the help of Drianne, she was able to stand up on her feet again. She exhaled, a hand on her head. Boy did she feel worse than she usually had. She just needed some rest was all.

"Let me just... Direct you to the supply closet..." Chrysaorus headed out of the room with Drianne assisting in her walking. She walked past all the previously ventured halls, and met with the main lobby. "If you just go down that hall, take a right into the first open hallway, then enter the first door you'll find all the weapons you need. My guards will have been notified of the situation. You will be ready to take care of crime." Chrysaorus turned in the other direction. "Now, if you will excuse me, I will be busy getting better."

((sorrry ovo))

Todd nodded at Chrysaorus's instructions, looking her over, still concerned. Concerned over a stranger. He should stop that.

"I'll be on my way, then." He told her, and made his way down the hall and to where she had pointed out. Indeed, there were weapons of all sorts in this "supply closet", and Todd picked out a great sword and sheathe (which he fitted onto his back). The sword in particular caught his attention because it looked like the one he had in Concordia. Simple enough, with a deceivingly beautiful hilt.

Away Todd then went, finding his way - somehow - out of the castle and into the kingdom that Chrysaorus ruled. He could certainly deal with petty crime. He's assassinated properly trained generals before -- Thieves were certainly not a problem.

"Good luck!..." Chrysaorus waved. As Todd went out of her view, she sighed. Was he really going to be okay? Was her kingdom going to be okay? She only wondered if it was okay to entrust the crime to a man she met only some minutes ago, and that he was strong as he had said he was. She gave Drianne a look. "Let's go... I need to rest now..."

___

"You have all of that?"

"Uh-huh! Easy, cause ruckus by thieving goods! Can do!"

Airii leaned away from a large table, slipping a piece of paper off of it and wrapping it up in her arms. She, being the eldest of the two sisters, had a large responsibility. They were doing this for a good cause, which was the key phrase she held to her heart every time she done something on a large scale. She had to succeed, if not... Well, thinks wouldn't be so great for the both of them.

Eirii, the youngest, backed away from the table and looked up at her big sister. As the little sister, she looked up to Airii as a role-model, and so she would do everything she wanted. Anything she wanted.

"Let's go, Eirii."

"Okay!"

The two of them ran out of the room, scooping up their swords, meeting with pure wilderness. They zoomed past all the trees, the sunlight hitting them on and off, on and off, until finally they arrived in Escherisa. They got to work quickly. Airii went straight through the marketplace and looted food, while Eirii looted jewelry and certain contraptions. To escape, the two joined together and set off smoke bombs until they made a hasty break for it in the shadows...

Todd wandered through the streets, looking through the town, marveling at the structure of it all. New sights, new locations -- Such things always interested him. The people, the smells, the ground under his feet, even. But then Todd spotted the smoke. It seemed that already, this early, he had to do his job.

Todd barreled through the smoke, crashing into many people as a result and stumbling over boxes and carts. Recovering as quickly as he can, Todd moved through and sniffed the air. There was the smell of the smoke behind him, but he could smell traces of it coming from another direction. Using his canine senses, Todd followed the supposed law-breakers. He would hit the roofs for such a chase, but Todd feared that doing so would make him lose the scent.

He was led to areas away from the marketplace where the sun did not hit. Todd, not being the sneaky type, charged forward, not entirely caring about the element of surprise. Sure, he could hear the two criminals easily, but it felt far more efficient to simply crash in Hulk-style and stop whatever needed to be stopped.

Airii and Eirii each hopped through the darker corridors of the city. Airii took Eirii by the arm and settled her down near the back of a citizen's house. The two sat down, as quiet as they could be, and decided to talk about their earnings.

"I snagged a few watermelons, five apples, and some peaches. I couldn't hold much more." Airii stated.

"Some pretty necklaces, and this... Thingy..." Eirii said, wagging a hammer around in her hand. Airii didn't know what it was either, but it seemed to be some tool for banging things on and taking things off based on the shape.

"I guess that's good enough-- Wait..." Airii heard something. "Keep your mouth shut, draw your sword." Airii drew her sword, and as told so did Eirii. Airii stood in wait, prepared to face whatever was coming their way.

Todd ran, feet pounding against the ground hard, ran and ran until he came face to face with the marketplace criminals, the ones who smelled of smoke.

"Aha!" He shouted at them, "Caught you! You two were the ones who set off the smoke bombs!"

He drew his great sword, the blade letting out its high-pitched cry as it was pulled out of the sheathe. Todd then pointed it at the sisters, his blue eyes locked on them, wearing a dark, but somewhat confused sort of expression. These thieves were girls. They looked young. Should he be pointing his sword at them like this? It seemed wrong -- Then again, they had a weapon of their own. If he wasn't careful, he could end up getting stabbed.

"What are those you got there?" He asked, "Stolen goods?"

'Caught'. How were they found out so quickly? Airii glared at the man that stood infront of her and her sister. He didn't look like the queen's royal guards, but he was wielding the same sort of weapon as they did. The guy didn't even seem familiar, from the common guards who patrolled in the marketplace. She didn't know what the man was, but his intentions were obvious.

Airii gave off a low growl. "So what if we set off the smoke bomb, and took a bunch'a stuff? You gunna hurt us?" Airii taunted. Maybe he was different from the nonchalant guards, maybe she could mess with his feelings a bit...

Eirii let her sister do the talking, and kept up her guard with her sword held tightly in her arm.

Great. The older looking one of the two girls was now using her "innocent and young" look against him. Trying to mess with him. Trying to get away with their thievery. Partially, it worked. He unconsciously lowered his arms - and the tip of the sword - a bit. His menacing look deflated a bit, but his expression of all things only got more fierce.

"I've not just hurt girls like you," He snarled, "I've killed them." He hated to say it, as it wasn't really a lie. It wasn't really multiple little girls, either. It was just the one. An innocent one. Still, "girls" sounded more menacing than "a single girl". Even if the threat, itself, required reminding himself that he was a horrible human being who deserved a painful execution.

"Return everything you stole" He then hissed, "Or I'll end you as swiftly as I did them."

"Humph!" Just as she thought, he was a bit different. Albeit the sign was a little hard to notice... But she noticed it, and smiled with pleasure. This was going to be fun.

"To be honest, I'd give you all the stuff that we stole. But it's too early for that. Also..." Airii's body tensed. Her gleeful face changing into a serious one in a matter of seconds. She took the handle of her sword, sheathing it for her first attack. She drew forward with her black boots pounding hard against the stone floors. Then she jumped, not exactly high but at a decent-enough height that wouldn't compromise her speed. In the air, she twisted, to face Todd as she was right above him, and drew her sword quickly to slash down— if it hit— on his shoulder. "We're not ordinary little girls! Eirii!"

"Okay!" Eirii bit her lip and rushed in forward. She wasn't as fast as her big sister, but fast enough. She had her blade out already, preparing to slash at Todd to double up on Airii's blow.

Todd was prepared for an attack, but not one from both girls. He wasn't like Walter (he had to stop thinking about the guy), he couldn't just stop bullets with a single retaliating swing. If Todd wasn't a werewolf, he certainly wouldn't have been able to react to this attack in time. In fact, he probably would have been killed on the spot.

But Todd did react fast enough, and luckily, they had giving him enough time to pull both of his arms back and parry with a horizontal slash, putting a lot of power - and an intimidating yell - into the hit in an attempt to stumble the two sisters -- maybe even knock them to the side. Unfortunately for him, whether he hit them or not, such an attack left him completely open to any follow up attacks. If his parry didn't work, he could be killed.

But the young man knew this already. He was willing to take the risk required, and added a little something special. He parried, then dropped his sword to follow up with a punch at the older girl's face. He couldn't be blamed for beating up children. They attacked him first, right?

Both girls weren't expecting him to parry so quickly, especially with the two attacking somewhat coordinated. Airii, still within the air, was sent back. Her arm moved uncomfortably with the sword, causing it to be sore. Airii landed, grunting at her hurt arm. What power.

Eirii, on the other hand, was still much weaker and attacking from a very risky position. Instead of her sword being merely sent back with her hand, it flew out of her grip and hit the side of a house, clanking down onto the solid ground. The little girl wouldn't have been able to take him head-on, so she ran off to retrieve her sword.

"Wait a minute..." Airii knew such a powerful attack had some risks. For one, he was left exposed. And second, he wouldn't be able to attack with it hung over like that. She turned, about to charge in once more, but her face met with a perfectly placed fist. It hit her square in the nose, effectively breaking it, sending her back. With her free left hand she grabbed at her now bleeding nose, and glared at Todd.

Todd casually walked back and retrieved his dropped sword while the two girls were still stunned, he reciprocated Airii's glare with a hard one of his own. No tolerance for criminals and certainly no going easy on them if they were young. They were still dangerous and they still needed to be taught a lesson.

And to think he truly did babysit kids in Philly. Todd didn't think he could tolerate misbehaving children as he was now.

"Alright." He spoke up again, hoping to end the fight quickly, "You wanna return those things you stole now, or would you rather go through that all over again? Because I'm perfectly fine with either one." He then got into a ready stance, grip tightening on the handle of his great sword.

"You're disrespecting your queen and costing the market money -- Or whatever you guys do. Barter. I dunno."

"We're trying to save the kingdom! Who--" Who did he think he was? But she choked on her own words. She did not want to mention anything to this person. He was on the opposing side. He wouldn't understand... Or would he...

"We don't care about the queen, atleast not anymore! She's long gone now, she's going to go nuts soon! Next thing you know we're going to be inside a dictatorship!" Airii shouted. "It's the god's fault!... Everything's... Just going to go painfully wrong! ..." Airii let loose her glare for a moment, then dropped her sword. Even if it didn't last long, it was over. This man... Perhaps...

"Perhaps, if I explain, you'll understand... I'll give the stuff back, just..."

Todd listened. He did this, and as he did so, his eyes widened, understanding now what these children intended to do with their strange thievery mission. Not how stealing random items would help, but...

But?

But an insane dictatorship, the fault of a god, saving a kingdom, it all sounded like what he and Walter were trying to do for Concordia. What they failed to do. And now - unless it was a trick - these girls were trying to do the same? It could explain why they didn't look like common thieves. Then again, this could easily be some sort of clever ruse. Another shot at getting him to let his guard down.

But paranoia certainly doomed Concordia. Why should he let it doom this world too? Todd placed the tip of his sword on the ground in front of him, resting both of his hands on the pommel and standing upright like a valiant knight (not that he was a knight, nor was he the valiant sort).

"Then please explain." Was all he responded with, though his words were now quiet. Thoughtful. What was all this about Chrysaorus going insane? How could someone so caring turn into a dictator?

Airii's mouth was left open. Okay, for the last time, this man was not a guard. Listening to a thief? Shouldn't he have suspected that this was a trap? Airii gulped. She just needed to get through to explaining. After all that happened in the past few minutes, she was now sure he should be convinced.

"Ah... I should start by saying stuff about us first, right?..." Airii glanced over to the side. "Err, I'm Airii, and my sis over there is Eirii. We're sisters. We've been livin' in Escherisa for a while... It was nice. But then we noticed something strange happening... Well not we, but me. Some of our neighbors killed themselves. While it seemed like a pretty normal occurrence, at first... The conditions of it were horrifying. 'Abbessus will fix the kingdom!' Was writ in blood on the wall where my old man's body lay dead. Not many have not known about Abbessus, but it was said that he was created by Kolliah to help keep Escherisa orderly... But he was notorious for the idea that people must be ruled in fear... Wanting to tell the queen directly about this, I decided to enter the castle... You wouldn't believe what I saw!"

Airii began to panic a little as she recalled it. "Abbessus! Abbessus was there, in the judgement room, tainting Chrysaorus! Forcing his ideals on her! I was afraid of getting caught, so I ran..." She said, in a whispering shout tone. "I wanted the citizens to get agitated so they would rally up and consult the queen before she gone bonkers, but it's too late."

((No, I am not using figure of speech, he possessed her.))

((Interesting! c:))

Todd scratched the stubble on the side of his jaw, listening to the child's words carefully. To want to "rile up citizens" seemed like a worthy-enough excuse for stealing from the market. Still, he couldn't just let these sisters get away with they did.

"After I deal with any criminal activity today, I'll go to the queen and confront her on this 'Abbessus' issue, alright? Your job is to return all of the things you stole. And I'm going to check in on you two later to make sure you did. Don't try hiding from me -- I have your scent. I can find you again in an instant. Are we clear?"

He felt like he was scolding a pair of children while he was their babysitter. The feeling was odd for him, having not felt such a level of authority in a very long time.

Airii blinked. "You're not my pa'!" She squealed, even if she were joking. The man sounded more like a babysitter than a knight. "Just kidding. I'll return them..."

"... But, I'm assuring you that she won't be like she was some time ago. No matter how innocent she seems, she is not the queen!" Airii took her hand off of her nose. Now her hand had blood on it. She'd have to get it patched up before she returned everything...

"Eirii, take the bags."

"Okay!" Eirii took up her sword, after all the chit-chat, and put it in it's sheath. She waddled over to the two bags of loot and carried them over her shoulders. She stood by her sister's side, before waving. "Buh bye, mister!" The two began heading off. But in the middle of walking, Airii turned around and smiled at Todd. "Good luck!"

The rest of Todd's day was rather uneventful. Lucky for him, as he could do nothing but ponder what the two sisters meant by what they said, and if Chrysaorus really was as insane as they believed. Was it belief? That spawned another question. Had he been duped? Played for a fool? Todd knew he wasn't the brightest bulb in the closet, but if he was tricked by two children, well... Well, that would have truly been embarrassing.

He returned to the castle, and, not knowing exactly where to go, he retraced his steps back to where Drianne was -- Or at least, back to her room. Hopefully through that child tailor, he could find the queen's whereabouts and question her about this... "Abbessus". About this claim of "insanity" the two thieves brought up.

Was he stupid or again choosing the wrong side? Either way, Todd felt that trouble would soon be afoot. That this was only the beginning of something big.

The two kids gone about the rest of their day returning all the things they stole. It wasn't very hard to do, but getting scolded by nearly all of the shopowners was embarrassing. To get through the day without wasting time, however, they spread their beliefs around town, hopefully having the people aware atleast before everything got worse.

Drianne was busy experimenting with knitting. She was making a scarf, but with her little hands she couldn't exactly tie in the string very well. She gave out a grunt of exasperation. "I don't know how people do this..."

Drianne heard footsteps outside her door. A visitor, perhaps? "Come in!" She shouted from within the room, the unfinished scarf still resting in her hands.
