Elias was pacing back and forth behind a closed door in his office at the Ministry of Magic. He was feeling restless, first wondering who had invited him to a gala all of sudden then second wondering if she also had been invited. I wish I could avoid attending the gala at all, but I have no good excuse to stay home. Besides I made copies of the invites for my parents. If there's a guard with a name list at the entrance, then it would be a little difficult with the copies thus I have to attend. I don't want to see Luna there or it would be the most embarrassing and humiliating scenario in my life if she has chosen to recruit a new member whom she replaces me with...whatever, if she has chosen to do so, I'll respect and accept her choice, let's hope that she does not make it to public thing. If she, Merlin forbid it, announce it public she would then crush my pride, humiliate me in front of my family and fudge my simple excuse that I’m awaiting her summons...Anyway still I do not know if she has recruited new members or not, why I’m worrying myself unnecessarily, I shall not think about this anymore and try to think about more pleasant things... Easier thought than done..

A horned owl perched atop a sign near the shop Rosa just exited. She had gone to the fringes of wizarding society to sell anti-venom. She had just sold her last stock to a man she never did quite get along with. Business was business after all. She was feeling irritated by the time she clinched the deal and was glad to be out of there. The horn owl hoot and looked down at Rosa.

"You have something for me." she looked up. When the bird chortled, she reached into her bag placing a dragon hide sleeve on her left arm. She held it up and the owl landed. She untied the note from its leg. Apparently, whoever sent it wanted her to receive the letter only. She took of the paper covering the scroll and saw the Lestrange wax seal on it.

The owl did not bother to fly off instead it sat upon Rosa's upper shoulder. She walked through the crowd over to a small cafe. Sitting at a table outside.

Dear RosaClaire,

I be honored to meet you for drinks. But I rather it not be at the White Wyvern. Meet me on Cemetery Row. If you do not know where that is just ask your godfather. We can go for a stroll in the moonlight. I'll take you a few places and we can have drinks at Crooked Lady later in the evening.

Hoping this is more then a social call Duckie. Around 9:30 or so.

Dearest regards,
Rabastan Lestrange

"Of course! I know." She knew all the old death eater haunts almost by heart.
She wrote a note back that she be glade to meet him at ten. Placed sealing purple wax on the paper and sent the horn owl back to it's owner.

Then she released she had very little afternoon wear. Most of her close were fancy or complete throw away. That would not do at all. She apparated to the north side of Diagon Alley. She decides to look at evening wear as well things always had to be altered for her. She just hoped the Madam had things near her size.

After three hours she had altered one afternoon dress and order three more.
She had browsed evening wear but none of it suited her.

"How about the one you were looking at before the green one. I think it would look well on you. Besides it takes quite some time to alter to your measurements. You do not get me started now. You'll probably be wearing something you already own." the seamstress smile at her as she packed away her afternoon wear.

"Well I don't know I like the design but the color and shoulders." Rosa looked over at the dress it was lovely though and it was 700,000G with out alterations. Her afternoon wear had cost 172,000G a piece.

She picked up her wand levitating the dress around in the air for her to look at.

"I'll throw in alterations for free and we can lighten the color. Maybe a jacket for it as well." she was really milking this sale.

She looked over at a peacock men's coat.

"You have this in a White design?"

"Yes but nothing for a lady such as yourself. Perhaps." She started off to the back. "I was not thinking of lady when I thought about it. If you can do a high top lace collar to this. I will send in the gentleman maybe." Rosa had a smirk on her face.

The silver eyed woman laughed. "I'll see what can be done. You just send the gent around. You going to credit it to your vault or his. Mine, useless I say otherwise." She left the shop smiling she work harder on it thinking she had another order to place.

Aislinn was rummaging through her coffert and closet after a gala gown. The last time she had attended a gala was about half a year ago and she had not been wearing any gown at all but a suit with pants and a disguise to hide her true appearance. The last time I attended a gala.. Aislinn dropped everything she had in her hands as she remembered that noon when she was back from Diagon Alley and eavesdropped on the conversation between Luna and Aaron Glass. His distance words rang in her ears. I have come to invite you to another gala. It will take place on the twenty - seventh of next month.....I have come to invite you to another gala.............Another gala Aislinn stood up, her legs shaking as she went down to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water. She filled a glass with water from the tap but dropped it on the floor. Water splashed everywhere and the glass shattered into pieces as soon as it hit the floor. With a shaky hand she cleaned up everything with her wand. She filled another glass with water, this time she managed to drink without dropping the glass, but her hand was still shaking. This won't help at all, I need something else to calm down my nerves, she thought as she filled her glass with firewhiskey. She devoured the liquor all at once, feeling the burning sensation in her throat. So that Aaron was spying on us then? How come that we never found out.. Suddenly a dull thud somewhere upstairs interrupted Aislinn in her thoughts. She went upstairs to check. Someone was sobbing from the room where Potter's children were being kept. Aislinn looked inside.
"I’m going to tell dad about how you betrayed us, you traitor. Just wait, he'll come and save us and kill you, just wait." Albus was sobbing, looking at Aislinn with red eyes. Lily and James were fast asleep. Sigh, where's Luna to take care of the children, after all she asked us to bring them to her..but I don't remember bringing Albus, was it Rosa or Blaise?..well it doesn't matter now, I’ve to silence this kid.."Shhhh, you'll wake up your sister and brother. Your dad actually told me to keep your here for your safety," Aislinn lied as she looked straight in Albus' eyes. She waved with her wand in front of the boy's face, so it turned blank with a drowsy expression. She went down to the kitchen and prepared some delicious treats which she guessed a child would like, by decorating ready made cupcakes with sweets. She dripped calming potion in every treat before placing them all on a tray and going back upstairs. She also prepared a second tray in case if the others woke up. She placed the both trays in front of Albus.

She noted how Albus mouth was watering of hunger over these delicious sweets. Albus picked one of the cupcakes and tasted it.
"Bon appetite!" Aislinn chuckled as she left and closed the door to the the children’s' room.
I would never ever be a good mother hahaha, I hope Luna does not forget to take care of the children otherwise they will end up with the muggle disease diabetes thanks to me, she thought half amused as she went back to her room. Looks like that I don't have any proper or suitable gown. Well I still have plenty of time to get one... She apparated to the post office in Diagon Alley where she scribbled a note to Sherwood, telling him that she wished to see him this evening.

"Hello," Aislinn smiled as Sherwood arrived at Diagon Alley. "Care to take a drink with me?" she asked innocently as she walked towards Knockturn Alley.
William looked uncertainly at Aislinn who went ahead of him. He was hesitating, not knowing if she was being serious or not. He had never been in Knockturn Alley. Aislinn sighed impatiently as she turned around and looked questioningly at him: "What's the matter with you?" She looked annoyed.
"Nothing at all, I’m allright, I’m sorry dear," William hurried to say as he followed her inside Knockturn Alley. He was surprised yet happy that Aislinn had wished to see him this evening. He could not afford to lose her now when he had the chance to get closer to her thus, he followed obediently inside Knockturn Alley even if he did not like the place. Aislinn entered the Black Cobwebs' Pub, a dusky and gloomy but a common place for purebloods. William noticed in the corner of his eyes how the guests of the pub looked suspiciously at him. He wondered why Aislinn chose to take him to this kind of weird place when they could have a drink at The Leaky Cauldron. She walked with so comfort and ease here while he was feeling very awkward. They sat down in a dark corner.
"What would you like to drink?" Aislinn asked.
"Red wine please," William replied without hesitation, already knowing that this was not the right place to order a cup of tea or hot chocolate.

An hour later
"You adore me, don't you?" Aislinn looked straight in William's eyes as they walked side by side.
They had gone further inside Knockturn Alley, now left it at the south side of it and walked out in other surroundings that seemed to be an open field. William looked uncertainly around, discovering an old cemetery on his left side and ruins on his right side, wondering where Aislinn was taking him.
"You adore me, don't you?"
William was silent, feeling impotent to say anything, his eyes locked in hers and his cheeks glowing red like fire.
Merlin's beard, this guy is so fond of me... She stopped to walk.
"Well from now on will you promise me to not tell anyone about anything I do and whatever you see through my eyes and hear through my ears will forever be your secret?" Aislinn said as she held up her left hand.
William looked uncertainly at her for several minutes.
"If you truly love me, you'll make the promise...but if you don't or cannot promise me anything then we should part here and never see each other anymore..."
William bit his lower lip, still hesitating.. He adored her, how he had wished to be with her, and it seemed that his wish had come true. To never see her anymore would be the worst, worse than a nightmare. He could never imagine a day without seeing her, but...
Aislinn waited.
"I don't understand..," he suddenly said. "You don't have on your mind to do illegal things, do you?"
D** he is smarter than I expected.. "No why should I? Besides you know that whatever I do I only do it for the good" Actually the opposite...If he promises me what I ask him then what can he do if he knew the truth about me? Though if he is so fond of me shouldn't he be so blind of love that he won't see any flaws or mistakes? Besides he will think that whatever I do is the right thing and if Rosa is still controlling his mind, he will be an obedient servant. And once the vow is bound he cannot do anything and he'll forever be my puppet unless if he choose to leave me or break the vow..
If I have to promise her anything just to stay by her side, then why I’m hesitating....
William took a hold of her hand and said: "I promise you to not tell anyone about anything you do and whatever I see through your eyes and hear through your ears will forever be my secret"
Excellent you fool.. Aislinn pointed her wand at their intertwined hands as she mumbled the spell for the unbreakable vow. A red light burst out from the tip of her wand and twisted around their hands.

"You know what will happen if you break your promise to me..." You'll die..helplessly...
"I’m aware of the fatal consequences for breaking a vow.."

At The Clothing Shop

The bell rang and the witch looked up from her usual position at her desk to greet Luna.
"Good morning, dear. The dress is ready for you."

"What was wrong with it?" Luna asked suspiciously.

"Not a thing! It was flawless." The witch summoned the gown from the back room, where it had been resting on a manikin.

"What do I owe you?" Luna asked, already feeling foolish to have wasted money on something pointless.

"Ten galleons. Five for my top customer."

At Borgin and Burkes

Ten minutes later

"It is ready?" Luna asked formally.

Mr. Borgin stood up in a hasty impression of a bow, then turned to a cabinet behind his desk. He withdrew a flat, square box, made of black velvet - covered wood. He undid the clasp, and opened the box toward Luna so that she could see.

The Resurrection Stone was glinting innocently, attached to a shiny golden chain. "It is goblin- made, and the Stone itself is enchanted so that only you may remove it.

"Excellent." Luna carefully took the bow from him, and properly closet it before storing it in her bag. "We are officially even."

Luna left the shop without another word, leaving a relieved - looking Mr. Borgin.

At The Manor

Five minutes later

Luna opened the door to the manor, and was immediately greeted by Nagini. She rushed upstairs, and properly put her things away. The gown went into her closet, and the bowed necklace went into her chest, which she locked, then charmed for security.

Aaron appeared behind Luna, just a second after she had put the keys away. She slowly turned to him, showing signs of impatience.

He was standing casually, with his weight to the closet containing the dress.

"There was nothing wrong with it, was there?" He asked with raised eyebrows in an "I told you so" expression.

"No." Luna said, humouring him.

"Well, then, I guess there will be no need to waste galleons on my gifts in the future." He said, as if finalising an official document.

"I will take all the precautions I deem necessary when dealing with an untrustworthy b-"

Aaron interrupted her with putting a hand up, creating vivid, orange smoke. It filled the portion of the room, before he opened the window to let it flow outside. He pointed to the window. "Take a look." Luna tentatively walked over to the window, Nagini keeping an eye on Aaron the entire time. Outside, in the gardens, was a large table that hadn't been there before. It was covered in a white tablecloth and had candles at either end. Food and ornate plates covered most of the surface, as well as golden forks and knives.

"Breakfast?" Aaron offered casually.

"How did you know I hadn't eaten?" Luna asked defensively.

"Let's just say I can realise when someone need to eat." he gestured to her bony arm. "And, you've been needing to eat properly for a while."

Luna was about to refuse, when something else caught her eye. The table was set for four.

"The table is set for four. Why?"

"I wish to meet the rest of your team, preferably before the Gala."

"No. That isn't necessary. " She remembered how he had called them 'servants' only a few days ago.

"Ah." Aaron said, and Luna guessed he had read her thoughts, again. "I understand. Very well." the table disappeared, and he bowed before leaving as well. Luna took a deep breath, and sat on her bed. "Only two more weeks until the Gala."

Morning, around nine o'clock, at the Leaky Cauldron
Aislinn was eating her breakfast, waffles with whipped cream, strawberry jam and a cup of tea, in silence. She glanced at Sherwood who was sitting in front of her. He was unusually silent, almost picking in his food, eating slowly as he was gazing, with a feverish look, out of the window on his left side. He looks so lovesick and I didn't even need to promise him anything or my love in return yesterday night..as if I were loving him at all, Aislinn thought as she remembered the last night's events..
"You know what will happen if you break your promise to me..."
"I’m aware of the fatal consequences for breaking a vow........Aislinn?"
"Yes?.."
He had then kissed her hand and forehead quickly before wishing her a good night with a hope to see her the next morning, and apparating away. Aislinn had been rubbing her hand and her forehead in disgust after he had left.

She finished her breakfast and waited impatiently as Sherwood finished the last crumbles on his plate. She put on her best smile, hoping that it did not look glued but as genuine as possible.
"Shall we?"
She did not need to tell him where they were going or what they were about to do. He would follow her like an obedient servant completely unaware of her taking advantages of him.

Ten minutes later at Madam Malkins' Robes for All Occasions
Aislinn was trying out several gowns behind the draperies while Sherwood waited patiently in the shop. I'll take as long time as I need until I find the best gown and then have him pay for it..if he truly adores me then he would spoil me right..Aislinn bit her lower lip as hard to avoid to laugh out sadistically behind the draperies. After about five hours of spending time on trying out gowns she had finally decided on one. She walked out from the draperies with a satisfied look on her face, not feeling guilty but rather spiteful about that she had spent so many hours on trying out over twenty gowns. She smiled brightly at Sherwood who did not show any sign of annoyance or impatience. She went slowly to the counter to pay for the gown when he suddenly went by her side just as she had expected.
"I'll pay for it.."
Aislinn was about to protest as she looked questioning at him.
"As a gift by me dear."
Aislinn turned her head away from him, pretending to feel embarrassed and flattered as she was hiding her triumphing and wicked smile. "I really appreciate your kindness...I don't know how much to thank you..."
"No need to thank me dear."
"Are you not getting yourself an outfit for the gala?" Aislinn asked innocently as they, she with a gown and Sherwood 1500 galleons poorer, walked out from Madam Malkins' Robes for All Occasions.
"I already have one from the last time when I attended a gala and it's still as good as new,"
"When was it?"
"The muggle gala where there supposed to be an attack, don't you remember when you told us about it?
"Oh..I almost forgot.." Aislinn looked in windows of the other shops, which they passed by, as she pretended to be interested in window shopping while she actually avoided to look at Sherwood.
"And there was never an attack there but on a different place...." Sherwood said thoughtfully with a bitter tone.
Aislinn still pretended to be window-shopping as she was thinking hard of a way to change the subject and was surprised when Sherwood suddenly asked her:
"What about a beautiful jewelry set to match your gown?"
"I already have, though thank you so much for thinking about it," Aislinn replied innocently as she put on her best smile as she looked at him, her face red, not because of feeling embarrassed when he suggested her a set of jewelry, but more because of feeling uneasy about the previous subject. She hoped that he would misunderstand her expression now and rather think of her being flattered and embarrassed. And it worked. He already seemed to have forget about what happened back in August, about more than a half a year ago, as he smiled lovingly at her. And he does not seem to remember the last events at Rosa's birthday party either...did she manipulate his memory?, if so would she be able to manipulate it a little more, so he will forget about the last gala, but would it work since he, as many other aurors, was never present at the main gala but on a muggle gala? Whatever, it happened in the past..and he will never be able to find out the truth..

Pre introduction, pieces will fall into places later

Far away, in a different territory, somewhere in London, in a dark manor, an old lady, in her late seventies, was sitting in a quite comfortable rocking chair in her bedroom, looking at old photos. She caressed a certain photo with a bony finger.

d22a434780082120cd22e4bc97897cd3.jpg

"My dears, what did those filthy traitors do to you?" She spoke, half to herself, half to the photo which she was cherishing so dearly, her voice barely a whisper. "What did those filthy traitors do to you..." There was a shivering tone in her voice, a thick lump in her throat, she was close to tears and so far away with memories full of sorrows that she did not hear when someone knocked at her door and entered.
"My lady, please, wouldn't you like to join us in the parlor?"
"Natalia!......please, leave me alone...I want to be for myself please.."
"As you wish my lady." Natalia closed the door quietly behind her and went down to the parlor.
"She is at her usual now, isn't she?"
"Yes as usual....."
"And I guess she refused to come down for a bit?"
"Of course she refused, she always refuse when she is in this depressing mood.."
"It's been more often now than before, I am worried about her..."
"If we only could find the girl then it might ease her mind and she won't have these depressing periods anymore..."
"What if that would put her in a chock?"
"I don't think so, is not like that the girl has died and arose from the death..."
"But how can we be sure if the girl is alive or not today?..What if she is dead?"
"Lord forbid that!......."
"By the way..didn't they promise us that they would tell her about us when she grew up?"
"They did.....but humans can be so unpredictable..."
"They could have changed their mind...literally breaking the promise..tsk.."

Meanwhile, evening 6 p.m.
Aislinn was sitting at the ground surrounded by the ruins, flipping a knut as she was looking at the old graveyard at the other side of the road. Not many passed this way, only a few who lived further down in a shaggy village. She had been spending lesser time at the manor and visiting the ruins more than often these days. She was only at the manor when Luna needed her, other than that Aislinn kept herself away.
So for how long will that rascal run around at our place?..and why did he invite us to a gala?, what is his reasons?...what does he want?..I don't and I can never trust him...and that gala...I’m not sure about it..right now I don't feel anything fishy about it..but on the other hand I can never go unprepared to it.. I'll wear a gown though I'll be prepared....

Luna stood before a large cauldron, mixing a blue locator potion. She pulled out a small crystal vile and filled it with the potion. She went to her chest and took out the invincibility charm Elias had given her a while back. She placed one drop of potion on the charm bracelet, and it began to glow. It flew into the air and soared out the window. The potion she had brewed was said to be able to pinpoint the exact location of any individual as long as it was applied to any object that they had previously owned. In the laborious process, but well worth it's time and effort.

Luna grabbed her bag and ran out the front door trying to follow the bracelet after walking for two exhausting hours she came across that old manor, surrounded by lovely gardens. She walked up the front steps and knocked on the door. Elias answered come and Luna was secretly pleased to see the shocked expression on his face.

She knelt down and put her hand where her heart was supposed to be, with her head hung. She closed her eyes and spoke softly, "I apologise for every time I have wronged you."

It was a cold yet beautiful Friday afternoon. Elias had no work at the Ministry of Magic today, his mother was visiting her friends, the ladies of other noble houses, his father had some business to take care of, his sister was of course at Hogwarts thus Elias had the whole house for himself and relax all day long. Elias was half laying in a chaise in the parlor, sipping crystal wine in solitude and peace when he suddenly felt it. He sat up with a bolt and put down his goblet of wine on the small coffee table with a rush that he almost spilled his wine. He looked down at his mark. It was getting darker and darker in color. She was close. He rose up and adjusted his loose robes the best he could, wishing that he had chosen to wear something differently today. If I only knew...whatever, she surprised me today...I never expected this.. Elias hurried towards to front door just in time when he saw the house elf Cooky reaching towards the doors.
"Cooky!" Elias hissed, almost scaring the poor house elf who turned towards his master.
"I'll take care of this, get the parlor ready, I have a guest.."

Elias put his hand on the door handle, hesitating for a moment. What if I’m just imagining...
He opened the door and there she was standing in her very own person. Those beautiful green eyes looking straight into his. To his surprise she kneeled down in front of him and put her hand on her heart. "I apologize for every time I have wronged you."
Is that her? Is she speaking to me? apologizing to me?... Elias was speechless and confused for several seconds, feeling impotent to say anything or move. Is that really her?...
He closed his eyes for several seconds, opened them, seeing that she was still there, kneeling down in front of him. He pinched himself in his arm. I’m not dreaming....unbelievable, unexpected, I could never imagine that she would apologize to me, but it's me who should apologize...I might have acted in a way which in return made her treat me like she did before...
He knelt down and lifted up her head. For a moment he looked in her eyes, trying to find the right words to say. Speak Elias, you fool, speak...
"I have already forgiven you my Lady, forgiven you before you met my sister, I should apologize and I want to apologize for my previous behavior" He put his hand on his heart as bowed his head. After a while he took her hands in his and helped her up.
"Come in please," he spoke, the heavy weight which had weighed him for months was gone. He showed her inside and then to the parlor. He gave a sign to Cooky to take care of his guest as he hurried up to his bedroom and changed to more proper and elegant clothes. The coffee tables were set with refreshments: fruits of the seasons, cookies and pastries, and a carafe of crystal wine. The house elf was offering Luna refreshments as Elias came down and sat down in front of her silently.

Luna took a deep breath, and began in a solemn tone. "There is a reason I acted the way I did. It is a secret I have told no one, and acknowledge that you are the only one who I may trust to keep it. " she paused for a moment, and stared into his intent and curious eyes, still full of the love he had back before the battle. "My father notoriously feared death. So, he sought out all ways to rid himself of the burden. There are many well-known ways, each with its own set of drawbacks. . ." Horcruxes. . . the Philosopher's Stone. . .The Deathly Hallows. . .stealing youth from others. She shook herself, coming back to the present.

"But, there is one I have used, that is very old, and two crippling drawbacks. " she took Elias's hand, and place it where her heart should be. "Do you feel it? The beating?" as he nodded softly, she continued in a whisper. "It's only a fake. I do not have a heart inside me. The method I chose allows me to live, as long as I do not have my heart inside me. The drawbacks are that, I cannot feel true sadness, pain, love. . .Even with Blaise, there was still a disconnection. I can feel, but not nearly as well as if I still had it. The second is, if someone where to get ahold of my heart, I would be their puppet. I keep it protected, my soul is not fractured, and I didn't have to sacrifice anyone's happiness but my own. I can be wounded, but not killed. Do you see, now, why I could, and will never be able to truly love you? "

"However, after the battle, I immediately regretted my decision to end you. I thought of you, and when I discovered you where alive, I regretted it all the more. I couldn't let go of you, because you where the only one to truly see me for me. You healed me when no one else would, and that night when the other's turned up wine sodden, you comforted me. That is why I am here. To speak truth, and pray you forgive me, my actions, and my choices. "

The house elf filled two goblets with wine, one for his master and one for the guest, before leaving and withdrawing back to the kitchen.
Then she spoke: "There is a reason I acted the way I did. It is a secret I have told no one, and acknowledge that you are the only one who I may trust to keep it."

A secret she never shared with anyone before but now she will with me? Unbelievable...

"My father notoriously feared death. So, he sought out all ways to rid himself of the burden. There are many well-known ways, each with its own set of drawbacks. . ." She continued.

I know that very well from what I have reading during my time at Hogwarts...horcruxes, that's what the late Dark Lord used..dividing up in his soul in so many parts and storing them elsewhere..of course very dangerous and foolish....

"But, there is one I have used, that is very old, and two crippling drawbacks. " she said as moved closer to Elias and took his hand and placed it where her heart should be. Elias felt the color rise to his cheeks when she did that. He tried to not withdraw his hand back in surprise. Merlin, what is she doing..

"Do you feel it? The beating?" she asked.
Oh so that was it, she wanted me to feel her heartbeat.. he thought as he felt her heartbeat beating calmly while his own heartbeat was beating the double rhythm. He nodded softly as response to her question.
She continued in a whisper interrupting him in his thoughts: "It's only a fake. I do not have a heart inside me. The method I chose allows me to live, as long as I do not have my heart inside me."
Fake? no heart..?...yet I can still feel her heartbeat..
He opened his mouth to speak as he withdraw his hand, but he was speechless and could not find the right words to say. He was surprised and confused, trying to understand the kind of magic she had used to conceal her heart yet leaving it to beat behind her chest. No not concealed...she said there's no heart....there's no heart inside her...there's nothing... He looked at her inquiringly, trying to understand and making sense of what she had told him until now. He tried to ignore the burning sensation in his finger tips of where he had touched and felt her soft skin when she had placed his hand at where her heart should be.

She was expecting him to say something, but as he remained silent, she continued to speak: "The drawbacks are that, I cannot feel true sadness, pain, love. . .Even with Blaise, there was still a disconnection. "

So this is her way for staying immortal, giving up on own her heart and happiness to be able to protect it...Such cunning bravery and fortitude, I cannot but only respect and admire her highly.. he thought, feeling overwhelmed by her words "I understand now..." he managed to say at last after a moment of silent, his voice barely a whisper. Now I see...

"However, after the battle, I immediately regretted my decision to end you. I thought of you, and when I discovered you were alive, I regretted it all the more. I couldn't let go of you, because you were the only one to truly see me for me. You healed me when no one else would, and that night when the other's turned up wine sodden, you comforted me. That is why I am here. To speak truth, and pray you forgive me, my actions, and my choices."

In that very moment Elias was suddenly thrown by a flashback of memories in his mind.
Luna Lestrange laying on a bloodstained bed....dead pale...Her robes were covered in blood...and the moment when he cleaned away the blood and healed her by transferring a great amount of his life energy to her. Her eyes looking into his... "Your generosity will not go unrewarded."
That night when he had been seeking for solitude before the battle and found her crying in the garden while the rest of the team members were drinking away the night. How he had chosen to comfort her. Did he truly manage to comfort her and make her feel better that very night?..
Her hot tears running down her cheeks just as the battle had ended. He put his hand on her shoulder to comfort her but was sudden surprised and taken aback by her unexpected rage. "That should have been you!" she yelled, pinning him to the ground with conjured ropes. "All you did was stand there, unable to think about anything except how bad we were failing, you didn't even consider your vow of protection. I'll protect her, even if I have to sacrifice myself! What lies! All this time, I NEVER loved you, it was always Blaise!" She raised her wand and burned him in between spells. "You - where - always - so - arrogant - and proud! Selfish - and - ignorant!" His body was in pain of the burning sensation, struggling to get free but it was in vain as he had no strength to free himself. The snake approaching him, plunging against him..the horrible pain.....I never loved you...never....never loved you....
Now that was the past, it was bittersweet memories, a history now. ...That is why I am here. To speak truth, and pray you forgive me, my actions, and my choices... Whatever magic she had used to remove her heart in order to protect it she was not as heartless as he thought that very moment when she had attacked him after the end of the battle.

Elias kissed her forehead, and kneeled down in front of her as he bowed his head deep in respect.
"You are forgiven my Lady, as I earlier said I already forgave you before you met my sister. Please what shall I do to prove that I have truly forgiven you with all my heart and that I truly apologize for my earlier behavior? Please forgive me for my ignorance, insolence and foolishness..."

"Your presence is enough. " Luna said quietly. "I assumed any normal person would look at me like a monster, but you are extraordinary. " she stood to leave, and bowed her head to him. "Thank you, Elias. We shall meet again soon, I hope?"

Elias raised as Luna stood up. Monster? The last thing I could ever think about her, it never crossed my mind to ever think about her as a monster....not does she even see me as a weird or a fool, no, but as extraordinary...extraordinary...special...I’m special to her?....Good Merlin...Get a hold of yourself Elias, don't let words fool you around and deceive you into a love you can never have....do not forget what she earlier told you.....She do not have a heart inside her...will never be able to truly love me...

She bowed her head to him and said: "Thank you, Elias. We shall meet again soon, I hope?"
He understood that she wanted to leave. So soon, how fast time has passed....but she said we will meet again and that soon again...

"Whenever you wish, my Lady, I am and will always be at your service, awaiting your summons" He bowed his head to her as he wondered how long time she was meaning with "soon"...

Luna made for the door, and he kindly held it open for her. She smiled warmly at him, and left without another word. Back at his table, a note appeared addressed to Elias. It said:

Dear Elias

I would like to meet again, tomorrow. However, it is up to you to choose the time and place of our next meeting. No business will be involved. This meeting will be for leisure only.

Thank you for your time an efforts.

An hour later

Luna stood in the kitchen of her manor, magically making glazed carrots, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a chicken breast for one person. She could never understand why foolish muggles only had this meal once a year, on Thanksgiving, for she loved to have it whenever she felt.

Elias, feeling very feverish and overwhelmed, barely noticed the piece of parchment on the table. He gave a sign to the house elf to clear away the tables from the refreshments, which had not been touched during the meeting. He walked up to his room, closed the door behind him and barely made it to his bed as he fell down on it. His mind was chaotic, everything was spinning in his head as he tried to organize his thoughts and get a hold of himself, trying to understand what just had happened a while ago. His heart was still beating unnaturally fast and unaware of what he was doing, he was caressing the scars across his throat absentmindedly. Fully dressed and still in this state, he was laying in his bed until it was dinner time. He was brought back to his mind and reality when he heard his mother's high-pitched voice in the dining room and then her steps in the stairs. He rose up and adjusted his clothes just in time before she opened the door to his bedroom.
"Evening son, going somewhere?" she eyed him from head to toe when she discovered that he was wearing very elegant clothes.
"No, mother, I just got myself ready for the dinner," Elias smiled innocently.
"You are late actually, five minutes to be exact.."
"I am sorry mother.."
"Never mind, it is fine, by the way, I found this in the parlor, a note for you..." She held up a piece of parchment, smiling curiously at her son when she gave it to him.
"Oh, thank you," Elias said confusingly as he took the note from his mother.

Dear Elias,
I would like to meet again, tomorrow. However, it is up to you to choose the time and place of our next meeting. No business will be involved. This meeting will be for leisure only.
Thank you for your time and efforts.

Elias felt the color rise once more to his cheeks and ears. Glad for that his long hair hid his ears, he let his hair to fall like a drapery around his face as he looked down at the note, pretending to be reading it as he slowly turned away from his mother, not wanting her to see how he was blushing of embarrassment and awkwardness. He put the note away in the drawer of his bedside table, locking it carefully, and thus finding a good excuse to have his face turned away from his mother's curious eyes as he managed to calm himself down. Get a hold of yourself you fool, it is only a meeting, whatever it will be about, leisure or business, it is not a date, remember what she told you today and where you stand to her...

When he turned to face his mother, the color of his face was back to normal and he smiled innocently as he walked out of his bedroom and then down to the dining room. His mother looked curiously at him. He greeted his father, wondering if he had also seen the note, but he showed no sign of it as they sat down to eat. They ate in silence and Elias was feeling very awkward this time, wishing that his sister was here with them, he missed her annoying gaily chatter. After a moment of silence his mother spoke, opening a subject he least expected and wished to speak about.
"Son..I have been thinking about something a lot lately..." Elizabeth looked at her husband, who in return looked questioningly and confusingly at her, as she paused and then she looked at her son before continuing: "You have been working a lot since your graduation, making a great fortune during the years...and..."
"Yes..?...."
"And it's time......you are old enough....I mean.....how long are you going to stay alone like this..?" Elizabeth half-waved with her hand which was holding the fork.
"I am sorry mother, but I don't quietly understand what you mean.."
"Eh...." Elizabeth looked at her son and then at her husband who said: "Your mother means marriage son, marriage, as simply as that. You are our only son and this manor will be inherited by you of course, the manor has been in the family name in centuries and I expect it continue in the family name if you are not planning otherwise, are you?"
"I have not planned anything yet.." Elias replied solemnly.
His parents smiled happily.
"This manor is a great and grand place, we have so many rooms, enough for us all and your future wife and children..." Elizabeth chuckled.
Elias remained silent as he focused on what he was eating, half-listening to his mother.
"...There are so many fine and beautiful girls from noble and pureblood families, though I leave the rest up to you son, I trust you to make the right choice..."
I already love someone mother, I love the heiress of the dark, the dark lord's daughter, I love her mother...but she can never truly love me... Elias did not say these words of course. "Of course, I'll make the right choice when the right time comes..." he replied instead as he stood up to leave.
"Already leaving son? You did not have any dessert?"
"I need to prepare for a meeting tomorrow.."
"Meeting?....From whom was the note by the way?"
"I'll explain later, please.."

Elias hurried away before his mother tried to persuade him to stay. He closed the door to his bedroom and then opened the windows, letting the ice-cold wind blow through his room. The chill air calmed him and his senses down for a bit. I'll think about marriage later, I might find a suitable girl to marry one day, right now I’m not in hurry, besides I have other things to take care about..... Elias thought as he sent away a Patronus message to the dark mistress:

With all my pleasure, my Lady. I'll be honored to meet you tomorrow at the Silvery Serpents in Knockturn Alley, 5 p.m.
With regards,
Elias

Luna stood at the open full - length window in her room, admiring the glowing crescent moon and letting the cold breeze ruffle her hair subtly. The patronus arrived, and she listened to its message.

5pm? That'll be an evening meeting. Interesting.

The patronus disappeared, and Aaron appeared in its place. Luna jumped slightly, not expecting him at 10 pm. He smiled slyly, and took her hand, transporting them both to the gardens below.

"What could you possibly need at this time of night?" she said impatiently.

"Luna, do you know what his parents are suggesting to him?"

"To get a life, and possibly a less pompous attitude?"

"No", he laughed, "They want him to get married off, to continue their ...legacy. "

You're telling me this because. . .?

When Luna seemed at a loss to where he was going with it, he continued pointedly. "You're the one he wants. "

"I thought that was your dream. Was your end goal not to be married to me?" she said with raised eyebrows, folding her arms expectantly.

"We don't need to be married to do as we wish", he disappeared, and reappeared close to her, kissing her cheek very close to her lips. He de-materialized again a few feet away, before she could slap him.

"But, I suggest you start thinking about your own future. Perhaps it would be good to. . .have some insurance. " He turned to leave, saying one last thing before disappearing for good.

"The parents cannot intervene if they're dead."

It was just as well, for she would have ended him. She walked back to the house fuming.

How DARE he? Suggesting that I leave Lily orphaned? I will maintain a cordial personality with them, and if the parents don' like me, the hell with them all. But, I won't be the one sending them there. Neither will Aaron. I don't have time in my life for such trivial matters such as marriage and inheritance.

The next day

Luna stood in her bedroom at 4:30, talking to Nagini. She wore a sparkling green mermaid dress, with a portrait neckline.

“Thank you for your advice.” She nodded her head to the serpent, and left the room, grabbing her traveling cloak on the way out.

She apparated to Knockturn Alley, and found the place Elias had chosen for their meeting. She walked up the steps, and a doorman opened the door for her, greeting her genially.

“Good evening, miss. Welcome to the Silvery Serpents. May I take your cloak?”

Luna handed him her cloak, and continued on silently down the entrance, where there was a sparkling water fountain, and flower pots with colorful flowers and plants. She entered the dining area, where many guests in formal attire sat talking quietly, or eating gourmet meals and sipping wine. The tables all had one or two candles on them, and the plates where decorated with a lovely serpentine design. She spotted Elias sitting gracefully at one of the tables, and walked over to greet him.

"Good Evening, Elias." she said formally, taking a seat in the chair opposite him. She noticed that the wine glasses had small metallic serpents entwined on the handles, and the same went for the forks, knives, and spoons.

Elias was standing in front of the mirror in his bedroom, putting on his formal and elegant suit, his mind shattered with thoughts. I cannot help but wonder what she wants from me now. A meeting for leisure but not for business, I wonder. Well at least we have apologized to each other, talked together and eased each other’s' minds. We have resolved things between us, there's no more misunderstandings and I'll continue to work for her as her deatheater. It was a shock to see her the first time after the battle, though now everything is fine. I will be able to go to the gala with my head held high and not being humiliated if she has chosen to recruit more followers, that is if she has done so, I don't know yet, I can only speculate..anyway whatever, I'll respect everyone in the team. My heart tells me to be happy, but my mind tells me to be careful. I love her. Her choice of coming all the way to my home, kneeling down before me and asking me to forgive her when it was my fault after all, my fault for angering her at the end of the battle, her actions yesterday only makes me love her more, but as she has told me she can never truly love me. And above of all this my parents are expecting me to marry, I am free to choose, and I know they won't stand in my way if I proposed to Luna, as long as the manor continues in the Shadowwalker's family name. Such a beautiful dream yet impossible to come true. I do not want anyone else but her, but she will of course decline me because of the very reason she told me yesterday. How will I ever be able to love another girl than her, choosing another than Luna Lestrange would be the same as stabbing my own heart. Is this the punishment I get because I declined every girl's request to date me during my time at Hogwarts?

"Mother, I won't be home for dinner today." Elias said, after finishing his breakfast, before leaving for his work at Ministry of Magic.
"How come?"
"I have a meeting at 5 o'clock."
"Oh and how long will this meeting take?"
"Perhaps a couple of hours, I am not sure."
"It is a meeting with the person who left you the note yesterday, isn't it? Who is it by the way? " Elizabeth looked curiously at her son.
"The heiress of the dark has requested to meet me today."
"Oh....." His mother's expression was full of curiosity and suspect. Elias could already guess what his mother was thinking about and before she had the chance to say any word he said:
"It's not like what you think, mother, the dark mistress calls her followers by their first names and treats every one of us as friends, not as puppets. No more or less."
But his words had no effects, there was still a curious and suspecting look in his mother's eyes. Elias bid his mother goodbye and apparated away before she had the chance to ask him more questions. At the work he tried to focus on the documents which he had spread in front of him at his desk. His hands were shaking slightly, and his mind was shattered, he was half focusing on his work and half thinking about her.

A quarter or so before the meeting, Elias apparated to the Silvery Serpent's Restaurant and Cafe. He walked inside and talked to the doorman.
"Evening, I have booked a table for two, at 5 o c'lock."
"Name and booking card please,"
"Mr. E. Shadowwalker, my lady will arrive soon.." Elias gave his cloak and the booking card, which he had received by owl this afternoon after making the reservation in the morning, to the doorman.
"This way please,"
Elias continued inside, walking past a sparkling fountain, and then entered the dining room, where he sat down at the table which he had reserved. It did not take long before she arrived. He rose up from his seat as she came closer.
"Good Evening, Elias." she greeted him.
"Good Evening, my Lady," he kissed her hand.
So beautiful, as beautiful inside as she is beautiful outside. I wish I could but I have no courage to call her by her first name or tell her how lovely she looks in her gown..

The waitress walked over towards their table as they sat down, asking them politely what they would like to order, giving them a menu each.
"What would you like to eat, Lu-..." Elias bit his tongue so hard that he almost felt the taste of the blood, then smiled carefully.
Elias, you fool, Merlin's beard, this was so close, I hope she did not notice...

Luna smiled serenely as she pretended to focus on the Menu. Hmm. Avoiding saying my first name is evidently his way of avoiding acknowledging his feelings for me. Well, good luck finding a girl to replace me, Elias. She studied the Menu for four minutes, then decided on her order. Salad, tomato basil soup, and grilled fish.

Elias ordered Ratatouille, spinach cream soup, and steak.

Luna ordered water, and Elias ordered the finest wine the restaurant had. The food magically appeared on their plates the moment their orders where placed, and Luna was pleasantly surprised, though she showed only subtle pleasure in it. The food looked delicate, and harmless, but Luna still placed one drop of her poison - testing potion on each plate, including Elias's. His expression changed from curious to inquisitive as she did so.

As they placed their orders and the food was magically served on their plates, Elias was about to take the first bite when he suddenly saw Luna dropping a crystal-clear liquid in every plate. He put down his fork and knife, and bent his head forward and whispered:
"Excuse me, my lady, are you worried about something? My parents have been dining here sometimes, the food is fine.."

" Safety is my top priority, and should be yours as well. The amount of time you have eaten at this restaurant is irrelevant; anyone could have influenced our plates. It is the moment we stop taking precautions that we are vulnerable. Safety is a fool's illusion. "She finished with the potion, and replaced it in her bag. The food was perfect, but she never relied on consistency.

"You are absolutely right. Thank you for your advice, my lady. I appreciate it highly and will keep in mind that safety goes first. It is not a bad idea to walk around with tiny bottles of potions, which can become necessary like in this kind of situation, after all."

Interesting, she cares about me this much, and there must be a reason behind her wanting to see me, even if it's not for business but for leisure, I cannot help but wonder. Hopefully things will be easier now when I know she is not able to truly love me...but I cannot ask her right out, can I? it would be rude of course, if I straightly asked her why she wanted to see me so soon. Should I ask her if it was her who invited me to a gala? No, that's a bad idea and besides it would be weird if she had sent me an invite to a gala before apologizing to me. If I know her well, she won't do like that, she would do the opposite way, first apology and then the invite, like she already done though asking me to see me, so the invite must be by someone else, but who, who else has interest in only inviting me and Lily to a gala all of sudden?

The candles shivered slightly on the table. The food was delicious. May I consider myself as a lucky man? Could I ask for something better than this? I have always wished for a chance to date her before the battle in the labyrinth, has my wish come true? But this is not really a date. Of course, only couples and those who were to date visit this place, after all Silvery Serpents only have tables for two persons, no more or less. She and I must be the only here who are not here for a date, how weird. In other circumstances I would have proposed to her tonight...

Luna smiled, and they finished their meal in silence, taking in all of the lovely tastes and textures of the food. The plates disappeared within moments of having been emptied, leaving them with a check.

"I appreciate this lovely evening spent in your company. " Luna said politely. A discreet glance at the check told her their bill had passed two hundred galleons.

"With all my pleasure. I feel very honored to have spent this evening here with you, my lady..." Elias smiled as he paid the bill with his magical money quill without any glance at it. Whatever, I do not care how much galleons I spend, if I could forever be with her, my precious, I would be so happy.....my precious Luna Lestrange...
As soon as he had paid, the bill disappeared from the table. The candles were still burning, though the table was clean and would be set with new plates and silverware as soon as they would leave the table.
He offered her his arm as they both stood up to leave. He noticed some acquaintances to his father as he left, together with Luna Lestrange, the dining area. He exchanged a quick look with them and a nod with his head as a greeting. They nodded back as they looked a little curious at him, wondering who his lady was, as they have not seen her before or among any of the known noble families.

Luna took his arm with a small smile, and walked out with him. She nodded her head politely to the gentlemen as they left, though she truly didn't care who they were. She slowed to a stop when they reached the fountain in the entrance, and took his hand in both of hers. "Farewell, Elias. My thanks again for this exquisite evening. It is up to you to decide when we shall meet again, unless I require your assistance sooner." She let go of his hand, and turned to leave. As soon as her foot touched the bottom step of the exit, she disappeared, apparating away.

"Farewell, my Lady.."

Elias stood by the fountain a while, still feeling the gentle touch of her soft hands.
It is up to you to decide when we shall meet again, unless I require your assistance sooner....Up to me? She is making things so much difficult than I expected, it would be different if she summons me, then I would have a good excuse and she a good reason to meet, but if I asked her to see me again what good reason would I have other than love?....

Elias walked out of the restaurant and apparated home. The time was already around 9 o'clock. He walked silently inside the hallway, he could hear his parents discussing in the parlor behind closed doors. He sneaked up to his bedroom and closed the doors behind him. He took off his cloak and changed his elegant clothes into a more comfortable ones before laying down in his bed. Merlin knows when she would summon me, and I want to see her every day. It is Sunday tomorrow and I do not work, so I could just send her a Patronus message about time and place to meet. But no, I won't do that. First of all, I need a good reason to see her again. Second, I do not like to be pushy and rush into things, I do not want her to feel "choked" because of my company, but rather happy and content. I wish her to enjoy my company any other day just like this evening. Besides there's no one standing between me and her. I may see her whenever I want, whenever I wish. My precious Luna. I'll ask mother about advice, she knows the best how often I should see a lady to keep her interest at the same time as not to be that pushy. And perhaps with time....."

Elias was with Luna in a misty yet beautiful rose garden. Somehow the garden seemed familiar, but he was feeling to happy, because of being with Luna, to pay attention to when he had been in this garden. She looked at him, smiling lovingly. And in that moment when he bent his head towards her, before he could kiss her lips, he suddenly fell through the ground which had opened under his feet, swallowing him into the darkness..

Elias woke up with a start, sweaty and his heart was beating like he had been running. The bed sheets were tangled around his body. In that moment he remembered the rose garden. The same rose garden from his first dream which he had after the battle...

"I told him that he would be the one to choose when we should next meet. That way, he will feel constantly pressured to meet me again, but also the worry about not doing so too soon, henceforth giving me the wrong impression. As always, your advice was best, Nagini. "

Nagini nodded contentedly, and Luna lay down to rest for the night.

The Next Morning

Luna got ready the next morning, and skipped breakfast from lack of appetite. She had almost reached the apparition point when Aaron appeared at her side, matching her long, quick strides.

"Last night went well, I take it?"

Luna gave him no recognition besides a brief nod. When he realized she didn't intend on elaborating, he held her hand, and spoke charmingly.

"I have some advice for you."

They dematerialized in a puff of purple smoke, and appeared in the dining room of his manor. A lovely breakfast for two was laid on a long, polished wooden table, complete with candles to light the dim room. "Never skip breakfast." he continued proudly, gesturing for her to sit down.

"I don't have much of an appetite, though I thank you for the offer. "

"But I insist." He snapped his fingers, and a puff of green smoke engulfed Luna. A moment later, she stood in a shimmering dress.. . .

Surprised, and slightly annoyed, Luna said as politely as possible "Isn't it a bit early for this sort of dining?" Her watch told her it was eight p.m.

"Not at all." he pulled out one of the two seats for her, and she sat down. "Besides" he smirked, "I have a feeling you will be busy with someone else this evening. "

Elias laid awake in his bed until morning. He could not fall asleep because of the dream he had, his mind in constant jumble of thoughts. What could the meaning of this dream be? Does it mean that I have to stay away from her? Should I ask a fortune teller about it? But I don't trust any of them but my sister and Lily is able to explain what dreams can mean, but I won't tell her any word about this, if the dream predicts something negative in the reality then I don't want to worry my sister or disrupt her studies. I could actually take a look in her books...

It was 5 a.m. when Elias rose up from his bed, it was still dark outside He lit a candle and walked silently to his sister's room. He had about two to three hours to venture through her books about divination and dreams. He looked at the titles, his finger moving alongside the spines of the books as he was searching.
Divination third year....divination fourth year.....fifth year....sixth....foreign divination.... Foretelling and predicting dreams.....perhaps this one....I'll just borrow it for a while...
With the book under his arm, Elias went back to his room. He put the candle on his desk and before he sat down, he already opened the book and turned over the leaves as he was searching for the meaning of his dream.
Swallowed by the ground....swallowed by the ground.....I can only find being drowned in the dirt or water and being buried.....grrr....I don't understand a syllable of this...... Elias closed the book and gave up on trying to find out the meaning of his dream.
Let's be logic Elias, remember what Luna told you when she arrived here. She said that she could never truly love you because that she had removed her heart and sacrificed her own happiness in order to protect herself and avoid death. So, I should actually stay away from her, keep distance and only await her summons, right. On the other hand, she said it was up to me to meet her whenever I wished...is she testing me?

A couple of hours later. Breakfast
"Elias, are you allright?"
"Yes, I am fine, mother."
"Then why are you picking in your food?"
"I am sorry, but I do not have any appetite.."
"How so? You do not look well, I can see that on your face, you look paler than usual..."
"I am fin-.."
"Elias! Be sincere with me.."
"Eliza, please, he just look that he is lacking of sleep, you have not been sleeping well son, have you?
"That's right, I could not sleep last night.."
"Something worrying you?"
"Nothing at all mother, I have just been thinking too much about the gala lately, I still wonder who has interest in inviting only me and Lily..."
"Oh.....I have almost forget, it is about two weeks left, isn't it?"
"Actually one and a half week to be exact...."
"Anyway we'll find out soon who the host is, by the way how was the meeting last night?"
"Well...uhm..it was-" An owl, which arrived to Elias, interrupted and saved him at the same time. "From the Ministry of the Magic, I’m sorry mother, but this is urgent..."
"Asking you for an important mission?"
"Yes..."
"And you are already going? You did not eat anything at all and above of that you had bad sleep last night..."
"I will be fine mother, please, this mission might give my appetite and sleep back hehe...I'll be away for some days in France and back home on Thursday or Friday..."
"Oh..."
Well well, I will ask him out after his mission. It is impossible to forget, a meeting with a dark heiress who calls him by his first name and asks to see him for leisure. Interesting. I can never remember the late dark Lord asking to meet us separately for leisure. When just thinking about how it would be to have a meeting for leisure and dining with the late dark Lord is to ludicrous. The only one who he treated different was Bellatrix Lestrange, always calling her Bella....could it possibly?....is my son?......do my son and the dark heiress have interest in each other?......I would like to see her, meet her in person, I want to see this girl whose love makes my son to lose his appetite and deprives him from his sleep....
